No audio during fast-forwarding in Quicktime

I recently updated to v. 10.10.3 yosemite. While playing a lecture in Quicktime, when I fast forward it no longer gives audio to allow me to listen to the lecture a little quicker. Can this be changed so that when I fast forward the audio can still play?
The QT X FF/FR playback features have been altered. FF/FR at 2x, 5x, 10x, 30x, and 60x are without audio. FF/FR at 1.1x thru 1.9x in 0.1x increments is with audio when holding down the "Option" key while pressing the FF/FR control buttons. QT 7 offers FF/FR with audio at 2x and 3x (less dropped frames) using the "L" and "K" keyboard shortcuts. VLC offers forward and reverse playback with audio in frame rates from 0.25x to 4x using the slider control with increments that vary proportionally with the slide control's current position.

I'm using FCE 3.5.1 and all of a sudden I wasn't getting any audio during fast forward. The level indicators weren't moving either. I'm not sure if i inadvertently hit a hot key that turned them off or what. Does anyone know how to turn these functions back on or is this some kind of a software glitch?

Can't fast forward in QuickTime for iPhone 3.0?

Does anyone know how to get the slider bar that allows you to fast forward a Quicktime on iPhone 3.0? On the previous version, any quicktime apps had the volume slider on the bottom, and the play timer up top, which you could slide to forward to or go back to a time on the track. On 3.0, i only see the volume slider, and a 30 second rewind, and a 'next track' button. what if you want to fast forward?

I suspect it's the way they were recorded. I've seen that behaviour before with music and video files I have downloaded. I'm not sure of the actual reason or any possible solution.

FCP stopped playing audio during fast playback. The audio plays fine while playback is at normal speed, but once I speed it up the playback is silent. Other people use this computer, so they might have changed a setting that I am unaware of. Help is appreciated.

No audio on fast forward or frame-by-frame

I accidentally pushed some button combination that caused FCP to go into this mode where there's no sound any time I fast forward, reverse faster than 1x speed, or shuffle through a clip frame by frame. Before I could hear the sound while doing all of these things, now I can't. Anyone have any idea why this is or what I might have pressed to cause this? Thanks!

I hear nothing when using JKL. Yet I can hear it when using FC on other computers. What am I doing wrong?

Skipping/Fast forward in QuickTime X

In QuickTime 7.6.3, I was able to start playing a movie clip, and then drag the marker and upon release, the movie continued playing. In QuickTime X the same movie clip pauses after I've moved the marker. Does anyone else experience this? Is there a setting somewhere to change this behavior?

Actually, if you open up a wma, it will not let you toggle the bottom movie clip but if you open a mp4 it will let you toggle wherever you want.
So people what i would do is covert everything to an mp4. but i also think this has something to do with flip4mac ... so maybe there is an upgrade soon to play wma's and toggle!!
Hopefully apple or flip4mac with fix the issue soon because i have a bunch of wma's!!

After Mountain Lion, QuickTime player's audio skips after fast-forward

Just got mountain lion, and now when I play a video in quicktime and fast-forward, the audio (after returning to normal play speed) skips like a broken record. I click stop and then play, the skipping is still present. It only goes away if I close the video and reopen it anew.
Any ideas?

Quicktime Player fast-forward and reverse buttons not working for audio

I have Quicktime Player 7.7.3 for Windows and the fast forward/reverse buttons will not work while playing audio files. I've tried it with mp3 and m4a, neither will work.
The go to end/go to begining buttons are working fine.
The ff/reverse button don't work very well for video files, they only will move a few frames at a time, but they will not work at all on strictly audio files.
I've looked at the preferences, and the software is up to date.
the only way to ff/reverse is to go to Window > Show A/V Controls and use the Jog Shuttle, but that is a clumsy workaround. I'd rather have the playback buttons work properly in the first place.
Is there something else I should be doing (aside from purchasing QT Pro, that is)?

It's not a bug. If it was we would all have this problem. My Macs don't.
Shut iTunes down.
Go to ~/your user name/Library/Preferences and place the file "com.apple.iTunes.plist" in the trash.
Try iTunes again. If your problem is solved, empty the trash.

Is there any way to fast forward through audio files in I-Tunes? I have some lecture recordings that I need to review.... If you cannot do it in I-Tunes, is there a program you could recommend?

Quicktime fast forwards all movies?!

I really need help with this, i have the latest quicktime 7.3 installed and ANY movie i play in quicktime just fast forwards? thats the only way i can describe it, say an hour long movie it will show like 10 frames and fast forward to the end in like 5 seconds. Ive tried reinstalling quicktime but no effect, this has only happened since installing Leopard. any help guys?! please?!

I'm curious... are you using a Firewire audio interface ? I noticed that when I'm using the internal audio output of my Power Mac, the problem is gone. When using my firewire Saffire Pro 10, the fast forward problem is there. I also noticed that I get little glitches in iTunes at the same time.

I've often do transcription, so shortcuts for ff/fr (⌘ + →/⌘ + ←) with audio enabled was very convenient.
Pressing ff/fr buttons with "Option" key is not an option, pardon the calembour. That's very reduces productivity.
Is there any method to bring back audio when ff'ing/fr'ing, without pressing buttons, only shortcuts?
I don't know of any since the keyboard shortcuts you want to use only cycle through the 2x, 5x, 10x, 30x, 60x playback options—all of which exceed the 1.9x max limit. I, however, would use a different approach for scrubbing forward/backward when transcribing. I.e., I would set the QT player playback to 1.9x with audio and then use gestures for scrubbing—that is, I would use a left-right, one-finger gesture (touch mouse) or left-right, two-finger gesture (trackpad) for scrubbing the playhead. (I actually prefer a foot control for scrubbing but haven't seen one since I retired from a job that included the transcribing of audio tapes.)

How can I fast forward Audio Files without itunes?

So I like having the ability to preview audio files directly in the finder folders. I would like the ability to fast forward and rewind them but I cant seem to figure out how to do it without opening itunes first. Kind of annoying. I like how in windows you click play on an audio file and windows media player opens and you can ffwd and rewind. Any Jedi's out there know how I can do this? Thanks!

There are plenty of other audio players for Mac that are lighter weight than iTunes.

I have iTunes version 10.7.0.21 for Windows 7. It was working fine untill recently. Now when I play a T.V. show the audio cuts in and out, the video pauses intermittenly and also intermittenly fast forwards. What is causing this and how do I fix it?
