No Audio Everytime It Autoplays any DVDs

everytime I insert a dvd it will autoplay it just like it should but then it doesn't have audio, this didnt start happening when I first got it(I just recently bought my macbook like a week ago). Something must of happened, now I have to insert my DVD and use the remote to restart the movie and then the audio will be there, what the heck is going on, im not liking my Mac already.
my second question is everytime I turn on my macbook the brightness will be at the lowest setting, Im like what the **** is this crap, I have to press F4 like 10 times everytime after I start it up, I want it kept at the highest brightness, how do i do this please help.

Try to repair permission, application folder > utilities > disk utility > repair permission.
Open your dvd player, dvd player > preference > disk set up > select disc default for all language section and system audio output for audio.
And if you use battery when you start up your macbook, open system preference > energy saver > uncheck reduce brightness when using....

Go to the Map mode in your iDVD project and make sure the blue bin at the left is empty. That's where you drag slideshows to if you want the DVD to open immediately to that slideshow and bypass the menu.

No Audio on ANY DVDs!

Hey, folks...
A couple of weeks ago, Emma stopped playing audio on any DVDs. Not just AVIs, mind you, but any DVDs at all, using DVD Player.
I've tried restarting, of course, and using different DVDs, including storebought ones. All other applications play audio just fine, but my DVDs are all silent.
Any ideas? What else can I try? Please help... I have a Deadwood disk that I'm dying to watch!

Within the Home folder of your user you will want to find a Library folder, in that folder you will find a prefrences folder. In that folder you will find a com.apple.Dvdplayer.plist drag it to your trash bin and login then out.
That should fix your issue

I just got a Xfi Music edition - just wondering if there are any DVD-Audio samples on the installation disk to listen to. I believe the Audigy 2 had something - I had an Audigy tho. Anyway, I haven't found anything yet.

My old Audigy 2 Platinum Pro came with a sampler disc, but the X-Fi's don't (not the music or platinum anyway, don't know about the elite).
Its got great audio quality and everything, but what you really want to listen to is real music that you've heard in stereo before. My personal 5. audio collection consists of:
Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon (Officially in SACD, which you can't play, but its my favorite by far, so I had to include it)
Metallica - Black Album (Not actually DVDA, but it is a regular DVD with nothing but high quality 5. surround music and a pretty picture)

Can't get audio to work for HD DVD

Anyone have any insight into what audio enoding works for HD DVD? I've tried both aiff and ac-3 to go along with MPEG2 video and my Toshiba HD A2 won't play back sound from either type. Help!

I have used both on the Toshiba A2. I assume the build file had sound when you tested it in the Apple DVD Player?
I have not played with the audio settings much on the Toshiba, do not know if there is a setting there that can change things.
I can take a look and run some tests to see if I can get it happening. Also if you like I can put together a small project to see if you can also get it to run.

Major Problem with audio from Final Cut to DVd Studio Pro

I am posting this problem again because no further responses have been received regarding my first post. I purchased an MR-HD100 Firestore device from Focus Enhancements. When I use clips from it alone or with other clips created by digitizing from min DV tape on a sequence or timeline the audio works fine in Final Cut. When I import any type of file and believe me I have been trying all kinds of suggestions and wasting almost a dozen DVDs. Whether it be a Final Cut QT file, going straight to compressor and producing an MPEG-2 file and a dolby audio file .ac3 importing them into DVD SP and making the adjustments that MR. Harbsmeier suggested DIAL NORM at -31dbfs and COMPRESSION MODE to NONE, as well as the suggestion to make an aif file with the audio and importing it into DVD SP as well as the video. I get the same result with every try, the clips made with the firestore are so low you cannot hear them. NOTHING WORKS!!!!. And yes I have tried making a DVD with just digitized footage and yes it turned out fine. I called Apple support today and that gentlemen basically told me I am out of warranty so phone help was not available. However, he made a suggestion of changing sequence presets in Final Cut which has now developed into another problem. I have messed up my settings so bad I don't know where I am I can't LOG & CAPTURE in the manner I used to ???? Could someone please advise as to why this problem exists and the correction to resolve it. I do not understand why the audio works fine playing the sequence on the timeline in Final Cut. It plays fine after making a Final Cut QT file. AND it plays fine in simulation mode in DVD Studio Pro. However after you burn a DVD the audio from the firestore clips are not to be heard unless you crank up the speakers or TV to it's maximum level and you can barely make it out. Try building the project to your desktop and then open the Video_TS in the Mac DVD player application.
How does it play/sound? This application is the best way to see and hear how your burned DVD should play vs. just using simulator and burning.
Just to clarify- are you taking your FC QT file into Compressor and creating a MPG-2 and AC3 file or are you bringing your FC QT directly into DSP?
What codec are you exporting from FC? ProRes422, DV, H264?
Open the FC QT in QT and apple+I to see this.

Audio not burning consistently to DVDs

Hi,
I've got some students having some issues burning FCE projects to iDVD...around half the DVDs burnt are missing the audio. This is a bit odd as they will have the project open, simulation works fine, and then will burn 3 or 4 copies to DVD, and only 1 or 2 of those will have the audio.
Not changing any setting in between each burn. Have also tried restarts etc. This is also on multiple computers so not the DVD drive.
I'm picking a settings issue but nothing really jumps out (but I'm not a regular iDVD user)
Any advice greatly appreciated.

I am having the same issue. Only, I burned one copy to check it out to make sure there were no errors I needed to fix when bringing it to the tv...and there were a few, but after I fixed those and reburned the dvd, the sound didn't work. So then I tried your disk utility option and the same thing happened there. The audio still works when I preview it in iDVD. I'm not sure what else to try. If you have any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated!

I assume you are wanting to hear the audio as you are importing and not that you have no audio once it is imported.
imovie 08 doesn't play audio while importing. While you are using tape (that imports in real time) imovie now imports from a variety of different types of camera such as AVCHD (which isn't imported at real time. Therefore it is no longer logical to playback audio on import.

DVD Drive will not recognize any movie DVD disk in the drive - thus will not play any dvd movies.

HP G71 449WV dvd drive will not recognize any dvd disc that has a movie on it. Will not play movies, keeps saying to insert disc when there is a disc in there. It will recognize a dvd data disc or a blank dvd, it just will not recognize any dvd movies. I've tried the microsoft fix it, downloaded new codecs, using different dvd playback software but none of that works since the drive will not recognize there is even a dvd movie in the drive. Computer is out of warranty.

I can't burn any DVD or CD - burning process interrupts before it ends

Sorry for my bad english, but I assume you're all aware about the frenches are not very good at english.
I've got the following problem: I can't burn any dvd or cd. I've already tried with different programs such as Sonic, Nero 7.0, and I Tunes, and I got every time a mistake wich interrupted the burning process before it ends.
So I don't know what to day ! I've already tried to re install the drivers, but it's didtn't change anything.

The error log doesnt provide any very useful information.
According to this error log the simulation was running correct but the burning process was not started.
In such case its very hard to say why it happens. Possibly the drive is damage and cannot calibrate the lens properly or you use not compatible medias.
The burning process depands also on the fiels and data which youwant to burn.
Some data, CD, DVDs are encrypted and its not possible to burn and to copy it.
In other case you could also try to burn the medias with lower speed and not with 24x.
But in worth case you the drive has a malfunction and you have to replace it ;(

You need an app like Toast by Roxio (http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/toast/default.html). You would use Toast to burn the videos to a DVD-R disc.

I have an iMac, purchased in January 2011. How can I save an iMovie project to a DVD or Flash Drive which can be played on a PC or any DVD player

I will give you a basic primer, not going to get to in depth, as far as parameters, size of project, or the storage size of your usb flash drive, etc.
1. you have your finished iMovie project. Under iMovie>Share menu. Choose export using quicktime.
2. make Movie self contained. This way your Mov, Mvi, etc files will be part of the movie and it can play without having to reference the events, because it is actually there.
3. so, now on your desktop ( or any where else set up quicktime to save your file) you will see a quicktime file.
Drag & Drop that file on to the icon of your USB Flash Drive, etc.
4. Details that I omitted because I admit I am not well versed. Most Likely that quicktime file is larger than your USB Flash Drive. You have to use one of quicktime compression work flows, also if you open the just created quicktime file. It will open quicktime player and under the File>Export you have to options. I have a Movie that was 42GB 1080P, I exported it as a 720P, so it would still be playable on a large screen and now the new file was less than 2.5GB.
5. Oh, no i just realized that the file should be playable on a PC, as long as the PC has quicktime for windows installled and you left that USB formated at MS DOS as it came originally, or a PC will not recognize it. Will it open up on your Blu-Ray Player that has a USB port, not sure. Since there is no menu. but, perhaps just pushing play will start movie.

Since downloading Itunes 10.7 audio is very poor.Any feedback?

Since downloading Itunes 10.7,the audio has deteriorated,with both missing and stuttering of music.
Itunes 9.2 was not problematic,as far as audio was concerned.
Any suggestions?

Update:
I re-downloaded iTunes completely and learned that iTunes will keep ALL of your content, music, pictures and information that you had on your previous iTunes and transfers it to whatever new installation of itself you put on your computer. In this process it also deletes whatever version you had previously, along with any shortcuts, and replaces them with the newest version. (Many people, when searching online, said that Apple had no official fix or solution to the iTunes updating issues, but I think the way iTunes replaces itself like this was made in case of such event, which would explain why I couldnt find any official processes to fix this).
All you need to do is go under iTunes on Apple's site and download it (even if you already have it) and it will just replace your old version. You will have to go through all of the downloading process (wizard) but it will be well worth it.
I suggest this to ANY and ALL who are having issues with updating thier iTunes or downoading the update, especially those who have updated their iPhones to iOS6 through their phone and not computer. I am pretty sure it will work on other versions of Windows or on a Mac, and hope this will help anyone else who is having this issue.

Satellite A30 CDRW-DVDRW (Mat****a) drive can't recognize any dvd

Hi!
I own a Satellite A30-303 with a optical drive MAT****A UJ811 (CDRW-DVDRW).
Everything worked just fine until last week the drive stopped reading any DVD. A error message saying that there is some problem with E/S is displayed. CDs are recognized with no problems though.
I tried to find updated drivers for the DVD driver but I couldn't get any.
Please does anyone have an idea of what that might be and how to solve it??

On this way it is always not simply to say what the problem can be. Like littco wrote check if there is some virus or any kind of malware. It is also possible that there is some technical problem and the drive can not calibrate on the right way.
I really dont know what you mean with E/S but you can try to remove the device from device manager and restart the unit. The last thing that you can try is to reinstall the unit using recovery CD. On this way the unit will be absolutely clean. If the problem persist there is obviously malfunction and the drive must be replaced.
By the way; have the same opinion like littco.
