No audio for stap files...

I imported an aiff file that I had exported from FCP. In the multi-track it sounds fine. In QuickTime player, it sounds fine. When I open it as an stap file to use some effects - I just want to boost the gain - I get no audio out. I see the bars moving so the sound is there, I just can't hear it. This program worked fine a little while ago.
I am very frustrated and in a bind for time. Anybody seen this before? Could it be the latest qt update causing this? Help!!!
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
O.K. originally I thought you were moving from multitrack to waveform permanently in which case you would want to use AIFF format. Now I understand that you're using the multitrack over again, and I think this is what you're missing.
You want to edit destructively not the default non-destructive; option use the other one (saving overwrites original file). See if that works, because there should also be the same effect with a non-destructive file, just as you said you used to do. It seems logical that at a certain point STP may not be able to process a larger amount of information immeadiately.
However that's just my guess, it may not be so. It may be that STP has become corrupted on your system and you need to reinstall. What version are you using? It could also be do to that, a specific upgrade like v1.1. So if using the other edit option doesn't work try reinstalling
Hope this is helpful to solve this, if not let me know.

  • Installed 4.01, now no audio for DV files....

HD files taken with my Sony SR-HD12 are fine, but I can no longer hear any audio for any files shot in DV. Anyone else have this issue?

Installing the 4.01 update has been known to reset sequence settings.
Have a look through all your sequence settings and be sure they make sense for your project.
    Cheers

  • No sync with audio for input files AVI MPEG4 23.976 fps

No sync with audio for input files AVI MPEG4 23.976 fps.
If i open in Premiere Pro CC any file AVI MPEG4 23.976 fps (with internal audio MP3 or AC3) i got growing out of sync from start to end of file, even while play it at internal media player of Premiere Pro CC for source file.
Using external audio files AC3 or MP3 not help.
In properties of source file i see 23.97 fps instead of 23.976 fps, and time of internal file is wrong.
If i try Clip > Modify > Interpreter Footage > custom settings to 23.976 time i see right time, but when i click "OK", custom fps saved as 23.98 fps instead of 23.976 fps and time of source goes wrong again.
So i always get bad sync such files in Premiere Pro CC while play or export them.
But in all media players, other editors, and in PluralEyes sync OK with all such files.
If i open M2TS or MP4 (H264 23.976 fps) source file, all OK, it it shows as 23.976 fps, time is right, and sync OK.
So i want to add automatic detection 23.976 fps instead of 23.97 fps for source AVI files with 23.976 fps.
    Is it possible?

Yes, i know what XviD and DivX does not edit well in Premiere Pro. And because of that i create this topic "No sync with audio for input files AVI MPEG4 23.976 fps" and was hoping to get help in solving the problem, rather than stating that the problem really is.
XviD and DivX it is MPEG4.
Xvid (formerly "XviD") is a video codec library following the MPEG-4 standard, specifically MPEG-4 Part 2 Advanced Simple Profile (ASP).
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xvid
I have many old useful materials in XviD and DivX formats, and have no other formats versions for that material.
XviD and DivX are very compact formats to store video at acceptable quality and it is fully compatible with all players and editors for PC except Premiere Pro.
You suggest to convert them to another format (DV) to make compatible with Premiere Pro... It is not what i want.
    Let me explaine:
    1) Size of files
uploaded AVI XviD 1280x720 file with very good quality have size 1.9Gb (with audio AC3 2.0). If i convert it via VirtualDub from "AVI XviD" to AVI DVCPRO HD 1280x720 (without audio) it have size 35Gb, and quality is worst than at XviD-HD, and also converting take much time.
    2) Compatibility with AC3 and MP3 audio inside AVI
AVI DV / AVI DVCPRO not compatible with AC3 and MP3 audio inside, only with PCM
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DV
AVI XviD and DivX can use AC3, MP3, OGG audio without any problems.
    Size of 1Hour 30Min "AC3 Stereo 48kHz 16bit 384Kbps" file is 257Mb
    Size of 1Hour 30Min "PCM Stereo 48kHz 16bit" file is 1030Mb
    3) I have and use hardware H264 encoder card "Matrox CompressHD" for export my material
    http://www.matrox.com/video/en/products/compresshd/specs/
This card works only from Adobe Premiere Pro, so i can not use it from VirtualDub or other editing software.
So i need a full compatibility Adobe Premiere Pro with all popular standard formats of input files.
    Here we see:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/extend.html#Supportedvideoformats
    Supported video formats:
"Adobe Premiere Pro CC leads the industry with incredible, thorough native media support, meaning you can edit virtually all of the major video, image, and audio formats natively without waiting."
As most PC users knows, AVI XviD it is a very popular free video format, and would be very useful if Adobe will make normal compatibility with that format in Premiere Pro.

  • No audio for some files in the Final Cut Event/Original Media folder

Hi, recently, I noticed that some of the video files stored into the Final Cut Event/"Event"/Original Media folder had no audio. They do have audio when I read them into FCP X but not when I open them as ordinary files in the Finder. It worries me as it makes these files unusable in any other application, unless I "share" them from FCP X. It's no big deal but it's more work and on the principle, it's criminal: why FCP X would strip the audio off an original? Video and photo applications now work on the non-destructive principle!
I usually shoot videos with a DSLR (Canon 550D/T2i) and a GoPro 3. It seems that the files impacted are the ones shot with the Canon and optimized for FCP X. The GoPro files are fine, optimized or not.
Is there any solution to this problem or will I have to export the files from FCP X?

Thank you very much for the info.
I removed the Media Cache and Media Cache File folders.  Didn't seem to make any difference.  Also, there's no audio if I try to play it in Organizer.
I have a question regaring "import".  What exactly does that mean?
Since all my MTS files are on hard drive already, what I did was:
    1) Open a new project in PE9.
    2) In the "Organize" tab, click "Get Media"
    3) Choose "Get Videos/Photos/Audio from: Files and Folders".
    4) In the pop-up window, navigate to my folder and choose the existing MTS file.
    Was that called "import"?
    Thank you again!

  • No audio for MTS files in PE9

I'm running Premiere Element 9 (registered version) on Windows 7 X64.
I have some exsiting MTS files on the hard drive (they are from Canon HF20 camcorder).
If I play those MTS files in Windows Media, everything was fine.  I got video and audio.
But when I create a project and put those files in the project, I got video only.  There's no audio.
For troubleshooting purpose, I install Premiere Pro (CS5) and VideoStudio (from Corel).  Both of them worked fine with audio.  So it looks like the problem is specific to Premiere Element only.
I've gone through the thread http://forums.adobe.com/thread/731032?tstart=0.  But couldn't fix the problem.
    Any hints would be appreciated!

  • No audio for avi files in Quicktime

Hi, like many others I'm having difficulty trying to restore audio to avi videos. It seems to be a codec related problem but I'm not sure.
    My Quicktime folder contains:
    AC3 MovieImport.component
    AppleIntermediateCodec.component
    Flip4Mac WMV Export.component
    Flip4Mac WMV Import.component
    Perian.component
Is there another codec I need or do I need to delete one or more I already have?
Any help would be much appreciated

But then why has Quicktime played these avi video files with audio in the past? What has happened to the audio data? It's been mentioned by some that problems like this occurred after the 7.5 Quicktime update?
Frankly, I leave that up to you to find out. However, here are the logical options as I see them:
    1) The inspector is not seeing any audio because there is none.
1a) If the files never played audio, then it never contained any audio in the first place.
1b) If the files previously played and currently do not, then
1b1) Either you converted or deleted the audio content (check the "Properties" window if you have QT Pro or use either the Finder "Get Info" or another application to re-check for an audio track)
1b2) Updating QT or the addition of another codec has created a component conflict and you will have to run a conflict test to discover where the problem lies. Basically, updating the QT structure or adding a new component can alter the order that the QT Player/QT applications may call components. In some cases the components may "argue" over which component should be used. In other cases, the component being called first may be in conflict with another installed component whereas the previously "first called" component did not. (I.e., see hoodstar's recent "SALVATION" revelation comment regarding the same problem.)

  • Importing Audio for ppt files in Captivate

How do you import audio and sync over multiple powerpoint slides? I'm using Captivate 6

    Welcome,
But this is a Captivate forum, not a PPT forum.  If you use Captivate only for converting ppt-slides maybe a plug-in would be a better idea (Adobe Presenter, iSpring).
Record the audio in Captivate, using the Audio menu. You'll get one audio clip for each slide. And then you use the timeline to synchronize the appearance of objects. But if you are importing PPT-slides that have already animations and timings, you have to know that in CP you end up with a movie file, a recording of the PPT-slide, so synchronizing with a movie is not that easy as you perhaps know. While recording the audio you can watch the movie play in CP.

  • No audio for avi. file

so i downloaded this torrent file and there was video and no sound, i read the fourm disscusions for that particular file they all said it had sound and it worked. then i tried another torr. file download and there is no sound this time. inspector says
    'DivX 6.0, 640 x 352, Unknown
    'ms ', Stereo, 48.000 kHz'
not sure what that means i have divx and it works with that file but it doesnt have sound either. so i reinstalled divx thinking it needed an upgrade for the codec but no results. still no sound. other files in quicktime work great.
i have been reading around and it seems that the sound issue is with the upgrade to 7.5 or whatever it is.
    any help is much appreciated.

  • How do you create a save as default folder for MP3 files used Captivate text to audio voices files?

How do you create a save as default folder for MP3 files used Captivate text to audio voices files?

    Hi Ed
Thank you for contacting me, however I already know how to save text to
audio files via timeline using the Export feature.
So my question was not entirely clear and I apologize for that.  To explain
further, whenever I save a text to audio file, captivate takes me to a
default save as folder where I then have browse back to my production
folder where I am keeping all my Txt to Aud files.  This is very tedious
process when you have alot of files to save.  So my question was is there a
way to configure captivate so I can make my production folder the default
file for whenever I save a Txt to Audio file through Export feature that
the system automatically takes me to that production folder, and I am
spared the long tedious process of saving the file manually to the
    prodcution folder I want.
I have copy the pathway to the production folder in the URL filed in the
Save As dialoge box and that workaround as cut the work down but I still
have to paste that URL field to point the file to the right folder. So it
would be nice if I could do everything automatically.  Microsoft makes this
capability in their MS Office applications, so I was thinking Adobe might
do the same thing.  Your help with this would be appreicated,

  • SharePoint Foundation 2013 Optimization For Large File Transfer?

We are considering upgrading from  WSS 3.0 to SharePoint Foundation 2013.
One of the improvements we want to see after the upgrade is a better user experience when downloading large files.  It can be done now, but it is not reliable.
Our document library consists of mostly average sized Office documents, but it also includes some audio and video files and software installer package zip files ranging from 100MB to 2GB in size.
I know we can change the settings to "allow" larger than default file downloads but how do we optimize the server setup to make these large file transfers work as seamlessly as possible? More RAM on the SharePoint Foundation server? Other Windows,
SharePoint or IIS optimizations?  The files will often be downloaded from the Internet, so we will not have control over the download speed.

SharePoint is capable of sending large files, it is an HTTP stateless system like any other website in that regard. Given your server is sized appropriately for the amount of concurrent traffic you expect, I don't see any special optimizations required.

This post is my own opinion and does not necessarily reflect the opinion or view of Microsoft, its employees, or other MVPs.
I see information like this posted warning against doing it as if large files are going to cause your SharePoint server and SQL to crash.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/praveenh/archive/2012/11/16/issues-with-uploading-large-documents-on-document-library-wss-3-0-amp-moss-2007.aspx
"Though SharePoint is meant to handle files that are up to 2 gigs in size, it is not practically feasible and not recommended as well."
"Not practically feasible" sounds like a pretty dire warning to stay away from large files.
I had seen some other links warning that large file in the SharePoint database causes problems with fragmentation and large amounts of wasted space that doesn't go away when files are removed or that the server may run out of memory because downloaded
    files are held in RAM.

  • No audio for clips in my event library since upgrading to iLife '09

After upgrading to iLife '09, I noticed something odd in the new iMovie. All of my clips (recorded with a Sanyo Xacti HD1A and imported into the previous version of iPhoto DO show up in the event library, but DO NOT play any sound in the event library. If I copy a clip or move it up to the project editor the audio plays there. Does anyone know why I am getting no audio for these clips in the event library or what can be done to correct the issue?
    Thanks,
    -Mike

Finally got some sound on the clips in my iMovie '09 event library. This is what worked here: I went into the Pictures folder and showed the package contents of the "iPhoto Library". I went into the "Data" folder. I went to a "2008" folder. I located the folder of the first video clip I had for the holiday footage... "Dec 14, 2008". Inside that was a QuickTime file "SANY0001" and a JPEG "SANY0001.jpg". I zipped up the "Dec 14, 2008" folder. I dragged the folder to the trash. I dragged the .zip file out to the desktop.
I opened iPhoto '09. It showed an event for Dec 14, 2008 with a dashed-line round rectangle where it would have normally shown the first frame of the video clip. I closed iPhoto '09 and opened iMovie '09. It alerted me that it needed to generate a thumbnail for some video, and after about a minute the clip was in my event library and playing audio. Not only that... ALL clips in my event library now are playing audio. I quit iMovie '09 and went back into the "iPhoto Library". A new "Dec 14, 2008" folder was there with a new "SANY0001" QuickTime file (I wonder where it got this file from... hidden cache or backup somewhere?). I expanded the .zip on the desktop and dragged the original JPEG file from it to the new "Dec 14, 2008" folder.
I opened iPhoto '09 again. Now the thumbnail (obviously the JPEG file) displays fine.
Double checked iMovie '09... Yep, still playing the audio in ALL the clips in the event library.
I'm not really sure why this worked the way it did. The time it took to generate the new thumbnail was ONLY for the one clip... so it seems rather odd that all the subsequent clips in the event library started to work. Perhaps I just got lucky and it is only that first clip that was throwing everything else off in the thumbnails... or maybe iMovie just looks at the first clip in the event library to determine if it is playing sound or not for all of them?
Another oddity? The original SANY0001 file is "17.2 MB". The new one, which appears to be exactly the same in quality, is "10.8 MB". The "More Info" section reveals a bit more that might be of interest. The original is Codecs: Photo - JPEG, Integer (Big Endian). The new one is Codecs: Photo - JPEG, Integer (Little Endian). Total bit rate in the original is 2,570. In the new one it is 1,605.
Ah well. It works!!! Now I can finally have some fun exploring the new features of iMovie '09
