No audio from Apple TV

i installed today my apple TV, but there is No sound getting out from TV!

Hi M.zaferani,
The article below may be able to help you with this issue.
Click on the link below to see more details and screenshots.
I've quoted some helpful highlights for you:
Apple TV (2nd generation): No audio when using Apple TV
Symptoms
Apple TV (2nd generation) automatically sets the audio output mode for use with your TV or AV receiver. In some cases, however, certain TVs or AV receivers may not properly play audio from your Apple TV.
Resolution
If there is no audio coming from your TV or AV receiver when using your Apple TV, including sound effects, you should first confirm the following:
The volume on your TV, or AV receiver (whichever is used for audio from Apple TV), is not muted, and is at a high enough volume.
The Sound Effects option, under the Audio & Video menu on your Apple TV, is not set to Off. To verify:
On your Apple TV, go to Settings > Audio & Video.
Navigate to the Sound Effects option and make sure its set to On
If there is still no audio when using your Apple TV, try changing the Audio Output from your Apple TV:
Make sure you have the latest Apple TV software update installed.
On your Apple TV, navigate to Settings > Audio & Video.
Navigate to the Audio Output option.
Push the Select button on your Apple Remote to switch to 16 bit.
Verify that audio is now coming from your TV or AV receiver.
I hope this information helps ....
Have a great day!

how can I stream audio from Apple TV 2 to Airport Express speakers.
I have LCD projector on one wall and connected ATV to it via HDMI.
Speakers on the other wall and connected to APXpress.

To be honest the times we've wanted to have music from more than one set of speakers, I've usually used my mac's iTunes library and controlled it either from the mac or from my phone, since they're not really the times we have any TV on anyway. I've tested AirTunes from the Apple TV but can't recall whether it worked with content from a streaming library.
Now I've got something to do.

  • Optical audio from Apple TV2 to receiver?

I have an HDMI cable running from Apple TV to TV.
I have a Toslink cable connected to receiver analog audio in (toslink -> mini-jack adapter).
All the sound is currently going through TV.
How do I get the sound to play on the receiver?

In order to go from a optical toslink to an analog input, you must use a converter box similar to this:
    http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-Digital-Analog-Audio-Converter/dp/B0053VKP8S/ref=sr_1 _3?ie=UTF8&qid=1326466071&sr=8-3
Toslink to miniplug cable only works if the mini input is digital such as the macbook or imac.
Toslink to converter, rca L/R out from converter to L/R analog in on receiver and you should be golden.

  • How can I stream audio from apple tv to airport express

    Hello,
i have an apple tv and would like to stream audio to my airport-express. Is this possible?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
It's not possible from the Apple TV 2 or 3.

  • TS3789 digital audio from apple tv not working

the digital audio output from my apple tv to my reciever was working initially. It is no longer working. Any ideas?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Have you tried adjusting the "Audio Out" and the "Dolby Digital" settings in settings > audio and video? It may be worth trying several combinations of these settings, although typically it is the "Dolby Digital" setting that causes most problems for users.
Also make sure that you have correctly mapped the input port on your sound system to the output, if you are unsure about how to do this, refer to the manual that came with your sound system.
Have you tried playing various content sources (i.e. podcasts, music, iTunes Store video, other video etc), do you have the same problem with all types of comments? You might also check that you can see a red light at the end of your optical audio cable. Is your optical audio cable plugged straight into your sound system, or does it go through a switch or other device?

  • Playing audio from Apple TV through iPod stereo...

Hey guys, just got a new ATV and I'm wondering what to do now with my older one. I've got an Altec Lansing iM7 stereo hooked up in another room with a 30gb 5th gen iPod in it and it acts as my home stereo. Works well but I still have to go over and manually select playlists and stuff. I'm wondering if it's possible to have the old ATV act like an airport express and allow me to play all the music from my iMac upstairs through my iM7 stereo.
Let me explain further. I want to use my iPhone as a remote to select music from my ATV (or stream from iMac) and play it through my iM7. Think it's possible? The ATV has audio out left and right. The iM7 has an auxiliary in jack (3.5mm) for hooking up other devices I guess? Could I use some cable that will play the audio only from the ATV to the stereo? Once again, don't want to have to turn on the TV. Just want access to all my music and be able to play through the stereo and control it from my iPhone.
    What do you think?

Did you ever use Airplay when the 1st generation ATV was hooked up (before your new ATV)? If it worked there, it will work in your new application. You will need some video to see what's going on with the apple tv. But once you get it configured, then you won't need the video device any longer -- airplay will pass the audio feed to your amp system.
It's a good use for device as you are thinking of using it, in my opinion, of course.

  • Airplay audio from Apple TV via Express and Video to TV

    All:
I am hoping to play video to TV via HDMI and at the same time use the Airport Express connected to better speakers to play the audio via airplay.
Not using the optical out for audio as my speaker system does not have the optical input. I only wish the new apple tv 3 rumored to be out next week has one more audio output. In the mean time i was hoping apple tv could do the simultaneous airplay audio through airport express.
    Did anyone try this?
    Thanks

I have the same question, and have not found any way to mirror the audio portion of AppleTV video to Airplay speakers on my network.
But if your amp and speakers are close to the TV, you don't need to use the optical port. You could either use and HDMI splitter, or use the audio out on the TV to pass the audio to the amp/speakers.
NOTE: Latency may be one of the reasons Apple doesn't want to attempt this—the audio not syncing with the video... This weekend I am going to try using two third-party products, AirFoil and/or AirParrot, to see if I can stream video to the ATV and send the audio to other speakers. AirFoil has a video player built in that they say addresses the latency issue.

  • Why has my audio from Apple TV to Airport Express suddenly stopped working?

    Hi.
For over a year, I have had my Apple TV and Airport Express connected together and the audio worked perfectly fine. All of a sudden the audio playback on movies and Netflix had dropped off considerably. I now have to turn my amp upto 70 to get even the slightest sound. Music plays fine to the AE but not Movie Audio.
Anyone else having the same issue??
I'm confused because it's worked ok for a year!!
    Any help please??

    try restarting all of them

  • Can i stream audio from apple tv with bluetooth?

I want to use my home theatre to play itunes using apple tv.  I'm out of inputs on the HTS except for a bluetooth digital media input.  Will apple tv stream blue tooth audio?

No. Streaming is done via airplay. The only bluetooth input, as of the latest update, is wireless keyboard.

  • Looking for a wireless audio from any source`

I have an Apple TV, iPhone 6, and Dell PC.  I am shopping for a  self-amplified speaker system which can WIRELESSLY stream audio over my home WIFI network (probably not Bluetooth) for BOTH the following:
MUSIC AUDIO, from ITunes, Spotify, apps from iPhone or PC
VIDEO AUDIO, from Apple TV or broadcast TV
Shopping around there seem to be several brands which  do one or the other, but it’s not clear to me there is any system that does both. Is that true?
For example, Apple’s AIRPLAY enabled speakers (or normal speakers hardwired to my TV) seem require streaming though Apple TV. Can I also stream Spotify or other apps with AIRPLAY speakers?  And NON-AIRPLAY speakers (like SONOS) clearly support most streaming sources, however do they also work with Apple TV for video, and if so without hardwiring the speaker to the TV?
I’m looking for something that does it all, and without complicated workarounds, and with a seamless interface on my device. Wirelessness of the speaker itself—i.e. not hardwired to signal source like SONOS does—would be an added bonus, but not necessary.
Some brands I am looking at: KEF  SONOS  Bowers & Wilkins Bose
Can you help me, or set me straight if I am wrong about these assumptions?

you should checkout the program called airfoil it let the user stream audio with airplay from any program not just itunes
so that would make spotify be able to play out of airplay speakers be it an Apple TV or airport express with speakers connector or a
device which was build to support airplay

  • I have HDMI connection to the receiver and on to the TV - but no audio from my new Apple TV.  I have checked all connections and the video is xlnt.  Have also toggled thru every possible Dolby/Audio combination in settings.  Help!  Any suggestions?

I have an HDMI connection to the receiver and on to the TV - but there is non audio from my Apple TV.  Not for movies, music, YouTube etc.   I have checked all of the connections and the video is xlnt.  Have also toggled thru all possible Dolby/Audio combinations in settings.  Help!  Any suggestions?

    Hello again Parker -
The basic setup is Digital Cable Box, DVD Player, Denon Receiver/Amp and TV Monitor.  To that I added the Apple TV.  The Receiver only has two HDMI IN slots (one for cable and one for the DVD) and one out to the Monitor.
[I bought a switcher to toggle the DVD and the AppleTV back and forth but just disconnected the DVD to simplify when I ran in to trouble.]
    So now I have:
HDMI from the Cable Box to the Receiver
HDMI from the Apple TV to the Receiver (in the old DVD slot which always worked well)
HDMI from the Receiver to the Monitor
RCA's from the Receiver to the Subwoofer and the other speakers
In addition I have some backup connections:
S-Video, Optical Audio and L/R RCA's from the Cable Box to the Receiver
S-Video from the Receiver to the Monitor
    Wait - JUST FOUND IT!
By going thru the excercise to track all of the connections per your suggestion, I found an anomaly when I switched Receiver sockets for the HDMI links.  The video moved but the audio didn't.  Turns out the monitor was using the optical audio feed from the receiver.  So I disconnected the optical audio and the monitor automatically switched to the HDMI audio feed!   Looked promising...
So I first connected an optical audio feed from the ATV to the receiver - Audio!  Then I pulled it, but the audio didn't switch to the HDMI feed.  It stopped.  Would be OK if all I was going to use is the ATV, but I need the DVD player too and I can't use a switcher to toggle between them if I have to unplug the optical audio each time.
This is becoming a career!  Any suggestions?
    Will

  • Streaming audio from my IPAD to my Apple TV from Rhapsody application.  when Apple TV go into Screen Saver mode, about 5 minutes after that it stops playing the Audio Stream and goes into Sleep mode.

I am Streaming audio from my IPAD to my Apple TV from Rhapsody application.  when Apple TV go into Screen Saver mode, about 5 minutes after that it stops playing the Audio Stream and goes into Sleep mode.  I am using the Optical Out from the Apple TV to my receiver, the Apple TV is hard Wired to the Network, the IPAD is Wirelessly attached to the network (it continues to play the Audio Stream).  When the Apple TV is turned back on it resumes playing once I manual select it for output from the IPAD.  All device are on current releases of software.  I have no Video hooked up to the Apple TV.  How do I correct this?

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • Audio from iPhone/iPad via Airplay skipping on Apple TV

When streaming audio from an iOS device, there is frequent and noticeable skipping to the point that it's unusable. I've recently upgrade Apple TV and moved to a different internet provider and wireless router and am still experiencing the same issue. Streaming video from my MacBook is absolutely fine. Streaming audio is glitchy.
    iPhone 4S running latest iOS
    iPad Mini running latest iOS
Apple TV current gen running latest OS
MacBook Air (2011) running latest OSX
I've tried to find solutions to this before but eventually give up in frustration. I told myself that it was probably due to my old Apple TV. But now that I've got the current, brand new Apple TV and it's still happening I decided to ask for help.
Has anyone experienced this and found a workable solution?

    Hello SebastianTroen,
It sounds like you are seeing these performance issues persist between 2 different versions of the Apple TV. I would recommend that you use these troubleshooting steps from the following article, as it should help you resolve the issue:
iOS: Troubleshooting AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4215
Troubleshooting performance issues with AirPlay or AirPlay Mirroring
If you are experiencing intermittent playback or significant network lag with AirPlay or AirPlay Mirroring, it could be due to a weak Wi-Fi connection, interference, or the distance between the Wi-Fi router and your iOS device, Apple TV or AirPort Express.
    Try the following suggestions:
Ensure that other devices are not trying to stream to the same Apple TV at the same time.
Ensure that your Wi-Fi router is set up with the recommended settings for the best performance.
Certain external devices, such as microwave ovens and baby monitors, may interfere with a Wi-Fi network. Try moving or disabling these devices.
If possible, try to locate your Wi-Fi router in the same room as your iOS device and Apple TV.
If your wireless and wired networks are the same, try connecting your Apple TV to the router via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.
If the Wi-Fi router has an external antenna, check to see that is it connected properly and in good condition.
Use the Wi-Fi network troubleshooting guide to resolve interference and other issues.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Does apple tv breakout audio from thunderbolt

Looking to stream movies from my Macbook Air 11in to my Sony Plasma.  From what I can gather, Apple TV will accept the Macbook Air's HDMI signal over WIFI then pass it on to the TV, however the TV does not support digital audio from the HDMI jack only analog.  So, I would need to breakout the digital audio from the HDMI port on the Apple TV unit and convert it to analog and then send it to a Bose Lifestyle Home Theater setup. Will the Apple TV unit breakout the digital audio from the HDMI feed coming from my Macbook Air.  (I do have the mid to late MACbook Air that supports digital audio from the Thuderbolt port.)

you can a strange sony tv then because all other devices with hdmi support digital audio over hdmi
my sony tv sure works fine with hdmi audio
