No Audio from brand new 27" led

Hi,
Have a new (non thunderbolt) 27" LED screen hooked up to my MacMini. Earlier on I had Audio coming through the screen fine, now though the display audio is not working and is not listed in the System Preferences / Sound options.
Here´s the deal. I am running Parallels and MacOS, in the Windows side the sound comes through the screen speakers fine, but if I click on the Mac Finder, or a Mac Application, then the sound stops and comes from the MacMini - It was working on both Windows and MacOs earlier.
So, what happened! - I was when I was setting up the screen and hiding the cable (hard to do with the huge long cable included with the 27" - NOT) I pulled the MiniDisplayPort/USB cable out by accident, I plugged it back in, when I did this the computer came up with a message saying "a new USB device has been found, and did I want to instal it on the Mac side or the virtual machine side", I did click "Virtual machine side". Then, the message came up again, so I clicked Windows again (don´t ask me why), when I did this its obviously de-installed it from the Mac side as the LED screen no longer appears in the Mac System Preferences / Sound control panel.
So, how do I get the Audio connection installed back into the Mac side control panel ?
I´ve tried to get that window to re-appear by pulling the cables in and out again (the one asking which side to instal on), but it´s obviously a one hit wonder when first connecting, is there any way of getting it to ask the question again ?
Cheers.

Update, I fixed it. Typical really, after more than an hour of trying I post to here, then bingo, find the fix. LOL.
So, just to help anyone else who has a similar problem. Go to the PARALELLS DESKTOP PREFERENCES. Go to USB, you can leave "Ask me what to do" selected, but basically just add a "Permanent Assignment", choose both the LED Display & the Display Audio (seperately) and then under the "Connect to" chose "Computer".
Re-start.
On re-start the Audio was again assigned to the "Computer" rather than just the Windows site :-)
Cheers all. Going to bed.

want to sync music from brand new computer as old one was damanged. says all my songs will be deleted. solution, please?

Do you have all of your content in that computer's iTunes library ? There are some instructions on this page for syncing to a new computer : Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive
And if you have music on your device that wasn't purchased from iTunes and you don't have a copy of it on your new computer's iTunes then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy it back (iTunes will only copy iTunes downloads back from a device) : Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device

  • Audio Levels - brand new to GB / Mac

I'm a brand new mac user as well as Garage Band. I tried plugging my electric guitar into my amp and my amp into the macbook. The levels were really really low and I'm not sure how to boost them. Can someone tell me where to go to adjust the levels, or let me know if there's a certain way I need to set it up? Thanks!

Check your System Prefs->Sound->Input, there is a slider there for controlling input from the Line-In.

  • High pitched sound emitting from brand new HDD?

Part 2 of my HDD woes.
I received my repaired laptop with a brand new HDD today on my MBP 4,1. This time around the brand is Toshiba, my last one was Hitachi and the one before that, I can't really remember. But the point is, with the last two hard drives I've had I've NEVER heard anything like this.
The hard drive is emitting an extremely loud, and annoying high pitch sound. At first, I thought it was my laptop when it was plugged in - unplugged it and lo and behold it's the hard drive. I put the computer to sleep, the sounds stops. When I open my laptop, that is how you can for sure tell it's the drive because the sound starts up with the hard drive. I actually have a headache from it, it is SO awful.
I'm extremely upset, this is my third hard drive in less than three years. I just wanted to know if anyone else experiences this, because I don't think this sound is ok at all. Is this typical of Toshiba HDD (250 GB)? I'm really hoping to read that someone else had this problem and that they replaced the drive for them. It's getting to be absolutely ridiculous, especially being in a professional program where I rely on my laptop everyday.
Advice would be wonderful, I'm sure this will mean I need to go back to the Apple Store again tomorrow.

Yep, called Apple Support this morning and I spoke with the Senior Advisor and he was very disappointed for me and was extremely apologetic that I will have to take the laptop back and get a new HDD. He assured me that they will give me a new HDD - again. Just frustrating because I already took the time to (2.5 hours!) to transfer all of my data from Time Machine to the new HDD.

  • Can you tell a refurbish from brand new macbook by the Serial Number?

Just wondering if there is any way to tell a refurbished macbook from a brand new macbooking using the serial number?
    Thanks

So what I'm wondering is if I purchase a macbook online from them there's no guarantee that it's new??? It could be a refurb?
No, if you buy a new MacBook it will be new. If you go to the page and choose a refurbished computer, then you'll get a refurbished computer. There is no way to check the serial number until it arrives. If you went to an Apple retail store, the serial number is on the outside of the box. You could ask to see the box before you pay for it.

  • I have HDMI connection to the receiver and on to the TV - but no audio from my new Apple TV.  I have checked all connections and the video is xlnt.  Have also toggled thru every possible Dolby/Audio combination in settings.  Help!  Any suggestions?

I have an HDMI connection to the receiver and on to the TV - but there is non audio from my Apple TV.  Not for movies, music, YouTube etc.   I have checked all of the connections and the video is xlnt.  Have also toggled thru all possible Dolby/Audio combinations in settings.  Help!  Any suggestions?

    Hello again Parker -
The basic setup is Digital Cable Box, DVD Player, Denon Receiver/Amp and TV Monitor.  To that I added the Apple TV.  The Receiver only has two HDMI IN slots (one for cable and one for the DVD) and one out to the Monitor.
[I bought a switcher to toggle the DVD and the AppleTV back and forth but just disconnected the DVD to simplify when I ran in to trouble.]
    So now I have:
HDMI from the Cable Box to the Receiver
HDMI from the Apple TV to the Receiver (in the old DVD slot which always worked well)
HDMI from the Receiver to the Monitor
RCA's from the Receiver to the Subwoofer and the other speakers
In addition I have some backup connections:
S-Video, Optical Audio and L/R RCA's from the Cable Box to the Receiver
S-Video from the Receiver to the Monitor
    Wait - JUST FOUND IT!
By going thru the excercise to track all of the connections per your suggestion, I found an anomaly when I switched Receiver sockets for the HDMI links.  The video moved but the audio didn't.  Turns out the monitor was using the optical audio feed from the receiver.  So I disconnected the optical audio and the monitor automatically switched to the HDMI audio feed!   Looked promising...
So I first connected an optical audio feed from the ATV to the receiver - Audio!  Then I pulled it, but the audio didn't switch to the HDMI feed.  It stopped.  Would be OK if all I was going to use is the ATV, but I need the DVD player too and I can't use a switcher to toggle between them if I have to unplug the optical audio each time.
This is becoming a career!  Any suggestions?
    Will

  • How do I stop the sound from some previous website from interfering with the audio from a new web site?

Mozilla Firefox is my default browser. Whenever I try to listen to the audio on a video, parts of some old audio from a previous video interfere. I still maintain my Microsoft Explorer browser and I do not experience that problem with it. The only reason I use Firefox is that it supports some games on Facebook which apparently Microsoft Explorer does not.

Thanks guys.  Both options worked.  Dowside to deleting audio (option I went with) appears to be that you lose the audio forever.  So if I ever wanted to bring the audio back I wouldn't be able to.
You are partially correct in that the Audio is no longer on your Timeline. It is still in your Project Panel, and you can move it back to your Timeline if ever needed. The complete removal from the Timeline is why I work with the Audio Mixer in cases like this. Also, on could alter the Gain on a Clip by Clip basis.
With using the audio mixer it appeared I had to mute each clip separately.  When I highlighted all the clips and selected mute for audio 1 it wouldn't mute all of the selected clips.
The Audio Mixer works at the Track-level, and not at the Clip-level. That is why I use it so often - one click, or slider adjustment affects the entire chosen Track. If it did not work at a Track-level for you, something is wrong. Now, if one has Clips on different Tracks, then Muting of all of those would be required, or one would have address things on a Clip-level basis.
Any way to use the audio mixer to mute the clips in mass?
See above for how it should work, and also the exceptions - Audio on several Audio Tracks.
Good luck, and remember that your Audio still resides in the Project Panel, should you ever need it again.

  • Can't scan from brand-new HP PSC 1600 all-in-one printer/scanner/copier

Just installed this new all-in-one, and the printer and copier work perfectly. But when I try to scan, it won't do anything. Error message says to configure a "scan destination." But the menu to do so, on the desktop, won't open at all. Just stalls and stalls. Everything else seems to work fine, so no connection problems. Anybody know how to shake this menu loose?
    iMac G3, iBook G3   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I've been using the HP psc 1210v for about a year now, and I've always been able to print, but scanning (which I do very infrequently) has always been a problem. Typically, to use the scanner, I have to remove the printer and re-install with the latest drivers from HP's (currently 7.7.2).
So, after doing this again, I was able to scan a couple of images by using the "HP Device Manager". I just double-click on "Scan Picture", which opens the "HP Scan" application, and I can choose from there how to scan; either opening in another Application or Save to File.
I'm using 10.4.6, but I know I originally scanned some images using this printer in 10.3.9. Hopefully this will continue to work!

  • Question from Brand New User / Thanks

Hi - I'm a new smart phone user (Samsung Galaxy S III) with a very basic question (thanks).  I have the 4GB data plan.  When I click the "Internet" icon on the Home screen (and connect using the phone, instead of a Wi-Fi network), does my usage of data end when I "exit" the Internet by touching the Home key (returning to the Home screen)?  In other words, do I need to do anything else to disconnect from the Internet, and thus stop using the data?  I hate to think that by just returning to the Home screen, that I might in effect have just 'minimized' the Internet view, without disconnecting, and am thus still using data, until the next time the phone is shut off.  Thank you.

Unless you turn cellular data off, you can be using data.
Everytime your email client "checks" to see if there are any new emails, whether there are any or not, you use data. Everytime you receive a Facebook notification, you use data, everytime you get ANY type of notification, other than a text message, you are using data from your allowance. Your internet browser is not the only item which uses data.

  • High Pitched Intermittent Beep coming from brand new mini

This is driving me nuts, beeeep.....beeeeeep...beep...beep.. beeeeeeeeep. non stop from the moment on turn on the mini. is this normal???
    1.83, 1 gig of ram

If you are within the free 90-day telephone support period I would just call AppleCare, and have them sort it out.
Alternatively, try booting from your install disc (but don't install!) and see if the Mini beeps when just sitting at the first install screen.
To boot from the install disc, insert the disc, shutdown, startup, and hold down the C key at the startup chime -- and keep holding it until the "gear" starts spinning on the screen.
You could also do the same, but hold down the D key, to run the hardware diagnostic tests.

  • Popping instead of audio through brand new speakers

My family recently had a high-quality music system installed in our house. Everything works fine (including ipod classics and iphones) except the ipod touch. With the iPod touch, there is a loud popping sound about every second and no music at all.
I’ve tried it on multiple iPods and with disabled bluetooth/wireless settings.
All iPod touches are up to date.
Any firmware download that can fix this problem? Any hardware?
    Thanks for your time.
Any and all ideas and information are appreciated.

did you see if the iPod touch is supported with that device?

  • Brand New Vizio TV defect

On October 6, 2013 my husband and I bought a brand new Vizio LED Smart TV for $649.00.
The connector on the back of the TV where the Co Axial from the wall should be connected fell off when we tried to connect the TV.
We have been told by the store (Minnetonka) that we have to bring the TV in to the store for them to determine weather or not this can be fixed.  The TV was 7 days in our home when this process started.  We can get no assurance from Best Buy that this can be rectified.  We did nothing to cause this connection to fall off, only tried to connect the TV.
Am I missing something here, are we really supposed to bring the TV in without assurance that the broken co ax connector in the back of TV can be fixed and furthermore no assurance that we will not be charged for this?
We also contacted the manufacturer and they said it is the only part on the TV that is not covered by warranty!  Can this be right?
I am truly baffled at the way this is going and extremely disappointed in Best Buy's lack of interest in getting this resolved.

    Hello King4mim-
Thanks for reaching out to us!  It's always disappointing to have issues with such a new purchase, so I can understand your concern.  In cases like these we're unfortunately unable to make any guarantees prior to inspecting the unit, which is why you were advised to bring the TV to your local store.  However, although we can't make any guarantees that would be our best option for you at this point, so I would recommend for you to bring the TV to us at your earliest convenience.
    Thanks,

  • Repost: brand new mac won't play/recognise/mount audio-cd's

No idea what's going on here. I posted a question which I will paste below. Someone posted some suggestions for me (Dave Sawyer if I remember the name correctly, thanks again!) which lead me to ask wheter I was or was not supposed to have a file named cd info.cidb in a certain folder.
Now all of a sudden my thread is gone and I find the following mail in my inbox:

You wouldn't have that file unless you used iTunes to get CD metadata from Gracenote. I hate Gracenote, therefore I have never had that file on my system

The origial question post was the following:
    Hi all!
I am totally new to the macbussines (got one for a month now) and not using cd's much I never tried importing one untill today... and it simply won't. I think it's supposed to show the audio-cd on the desktop and give me an 'import cd' button in itunes whenever I insert an audioCD right?
It won't do... it'll take it in, turn it a few times and slide it right out again.
    What I tried so far:
    * toying with itunes settings for importing (import cd & eject, show CD, ask to import cd etc)
    * toying with the cd&dvd preferences under system preferences
    * click the mount 'button' in disk utility as was suggested in all those threads regarding cd's not mounting first time (my cd's won't mount the second or 30th time either)
    * resetting the PRAM
    Nothing so far.
It does recognise DVD's but no audio cd's whatsoever, originals, burned ones. You name it. As I don't use CD's a lot the newest CD dates from 2003, but that can't be it, can it?
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated...
    o/
Am I going para? Where did my post go? It's totally gone, not even under 'my posts' or anywhere...
Still no solution either... suggestions still welcome therefor

My guess is that someone didn't like that I said I didn't like Gracenote.
Anyway, I Googled for your thread and luckily found it intact in the iTunes for Windows forum and posted a condensed reply there for you.
