No audio from DVD with CT 100

New user with all new components. Cable TV box connected to cable HDMI on CT100, HDMI out of CT100 to TV works great.
Toshiba SD7200 (HD DVD) connected to CT100 HDMI input produces video on TV but not audio. DVD on CT100 is set to HDMI. Some say try BD input on CT100, but if thst works does that no simply prove DVD HDMI input on CT100 is bad? DVD set to PCM output which should be correct.
DVD via HDMI connected to Toshiba TV works fine.
DVD does not have other compatable ut for CT100, like optical.
Suggestions

Fixed it.
Problem clearly with Toshiba DVD HDMI.  Verfied HDMI inputs into Sony ok.
Bought new DVD with HDMI out, plugged in and no problems. Maybe interface between Toshiba and Sony but Toshiba should have enough power in HDMI output to send audio it it meets the standard.

  • Audio from dvd imported into iMovie

I don't know alot about any of this but here goes....my daughter went skydiviing and had it video taped with sound of course. The videographer added music to the DVD of the skydive. I got it into iMovie (I want to edit and get some still shots from it) but the sound is very low. I've got the clip control up to 150%, and my computer volume control on the key board is all the way up. First question: what else can I do to help volume? Second question: Is there a way to seperate the original sound of the video from the music that was added to the DVD? The music overpowers the converstion.
I have iMovie HD (6.0.3), Streamclip, and QuickTime MPEG2 if these would be helpful. Thank You

+On the volume issue, if you can extract the audio from the clip, and then make several copies of the audio clip, overlaying them one on top of the other in your iMovie project, that might boost the volume.+
Yes, but that would not separate out the music from the sound she wants to hear over the music.

  • Rip audio from dvd on pc?

    hi,
I'd like to rip just the audio from a music video I have on a DVD, for use as an mp3 on my iPod. I already have DVD decrypter, videora and replay, but I'm not much good at experimenting with them. Could anyone provide a step-by-step? Thank you!

I searched the forums, came up with a ton of answers for mac, but none for PC. That's why I posted... please help!

  • Ripping audio from dvd.

I did a brief search.. are you able to rip audio from a DVD with iDVD?

No! iDVD is for creating DVDs - that's all.

  • No audio from DVDs

I have made several movies in iDVD and burned them successfully. They always played with no problem. Now I am trying to play them in the DVD player and there is no audio. There is also no audio when I make a disc image. And there is also no audio when I try to copy on of my movies back onto the disc utility. I am also not getting audio from commercial DVDs in the DVD player. All of these DVDs still work fine in my regular DVD player hooked to the tv.

Well, the Allen-Heath support site had the answer... quite suprised and pleased!!
Have to reconfigure the iMac speakers in the Audio/Midi preferences. The details are found in this URL:

  • Recording Audio from DVD Video

    Hi,
I have a music concert video on DVD. I would like to record a song off the video so that I can learn to play the guitar part. Is there any software out there that will separate the audio from the video, or in other words, capture the audio and maybe convert it to mp3 format so that I can play it in iTunes without playing the video?
    Sincerely,
    Jim

Audio Hijack will let you capture audio from any running Mac Os X application.

  • Recording audio from laptop with T420s and combo port

    Hi All,
I sometimes need to run my companys application and record the spoken messages for demo's etc. Previously, I did this simply by playing the messages through the laptop speakers and at the same time using the Windows Sound Recorder to record it from the laptop microphone (I didn't even need to use external speakers or microphone).
Now, with the new T420s that I have, when I speak into the laptop microphone it records my voice fine but when I use an application to play messages through the laptop speakers, the recorder does not pick up an sounds......is this a result of this "combo" port........if so, is there any way round it ?

I meant what if you recorded just your voice, then added the audio from your demo after the fact?
The sound chip takes the microphone input, and subtracts the speakers sound. This is what is needed most of the time, but in your case, it seems to be the exact opposite. Not sure if this can be disabled in SmartAudio.
You'll probably need Virtual Audio Cable to record multiple streams.

  • Audio from DVD to CD

I need to pull some narration from a DVD to burn onto a CD for a client. We no longer have the original audio. I used MPEG Streamclip to open up the .VOB files, but when I use that program to export the audio I get "error: can't convert sample rate".
The Audio PID is 128 AC3 2/0, which I realize is compressed audio, but that's about all I know. Is there a way to convert this audio in Compressor so that I can burn it onto a CD?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Maybe I should start a new thread, but this still relates to the subject line... I'll close it out after this last question...
OK, now I have my audio from the DVD a Final Cut Pro sequence. I added chapter markers. Export>Using Compressor.
In Compressor, I chose Audio AIFF 44.1:16 (cd quality). I can see my chapter markers in purple in the Compressor View Window. When I open the .aiff file in Quicktime, my chapter markers are not there. Am I missing a setting in Compressor or Quicktime?

  • Audio from DVD

Can't find a forum that seems appropriate for this question, this one seems the best:
I'd like to extract audio from some older DVDs that I have -- ones from the 70's. Nothing illegal or anything like that, just that I'd like to have have some of the music on my pod, they really did have some great tunes -- and you can't get them in the store, no Amazon, no iTunes store, nowhere. Even if you could, nothing quite like all the background stuff that makes it so fun to listen to.
Anyway, I'm looking for a way to take out the audio of an old DVD (meaning a DVD of an old movie, which is different from a DVD of a new movie, which seems to be easier).
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks much.

The only legal way is to capture the output of DVD Player using a utility such as Audio Hijack or Wiretap. Either of those utilities can save the captured audio in a format that iTunes can import.
    Hope this helps.

  • Audio from dvd concerts

Is it possible to extract the audio from a concert dvd to put onto iTunes and then burn onto a cd?

Yes you can. There are a number of software apps you can use, but some only allow Quicktime video (and the audio) to be extracted. Do a google search for "extract DVD audio" and you'll find various apps. I use Audio Hijack Pro and it's $32, but WELL worth it.

  • Ripped audio from DVD to FCP

Once I've used a ripping program like Mac the Ripper to get video and audio files from DVD, how do I get the audio only onto a cd?

    Geez David.
I kinda noted that. The question is where are the original unencoded audio sources? Is this music? Or someone talking? If it is music, use the the sources if they are not copyrighted.
You don't need "Mac the Ripper" to extract unencrypted or non copyrighted DVDs.
We get so many requests here about extracting VOBs from DVDs.
Given the terms of use, and laws about extracting from commercial DVDs, many of us are suspicious when a "client" brings in an encoded DVD and wants it "reauthored" for his reel.
Now this isn't you, but when I say get the original source of audio, then I wonder why it isn't available.
Or why didn't the DVD simply contain aiff audio files as a data DVD
    take care

  • Extract audio from dvd

I am trying to extract audio from a DVD I have previously made, when I open it there is nothing in the Audio_TS file. I have seen the previous post about video files. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=596051&tstart=15
I would imagine that it would work the same way. I tried streamclip but it says I am missing a the mpeg-2 component. I did not think I needed this for a non-comercial DVD,
I would like a simple way to use a sound clip off a dvd if that is possible. thanks

follow Daniel's excellent suggestion (hardware solution).
to get just the audio (parts of) from a DVD is no trivial task…
the mpeg2 playback component is needed, because that is the codec in use on any videoDVD
the AUDIO_TS is allways empty on a videoDVD, it is only in use for SuperAudioDVDs.. (rare HiFi format)
the audio of a dvd is well hidden, "woven", muxxded (=tech term) into a data stream… tools as mentioned bbdemuxx demux that stream, in a second step you have to convert the file into something... usefull....
get a few cables, as Daniel said...
    Plan C)
invest in tools as Ambrosia's Wiretap which records any sound, your Mac produces... you playback the DVD on your Mac, and you record simultanously the sound... needs additional $$ software and the same amount of time as Daniel's suggestion…

  • Extracting Audio from DVD?

Not sure if this is in right section, but can anyone give me some tips, I have a DVD that I want to extract the complete audio from, and put onto CD to listen to, what do I need to do it?
    Thanks in advance
    Jim.

Jimbo, THIS will make a high quality copy of the sound track, although it will have to do it in real time.
