No audio from hdmi output from graphics card

hello, i have a ms-7191 motherboard that has on board graphics, i installed a visiontec ATI 4350 card so i can output the a/v to my vizio 46" TV using one of the hdmi ports. , the video works but no audio. tried to update the drivers from msi-no help, tried to update the graphics card drivers from visiontec (added the hd audio driver)-no help. tried updating the realtek driver-no help. tried swapping hdmi ports on the TV-no help. i know that i'm  not the first to not be able to do this and i have searched for the answer, but i out of ideas, is it possible the problem is that it has a onboard graphics on the board? what should i do now?
Joel

This board came with a spidif bracket-installed into the pci e connector, maybe i am missing something here, is it that is there is no audio connector to the graphics card, so there will be no sound from the hdmi connector? if so how does one get a card to work with the hdmi for both A/V? i thought this card will be able to access the needed info, maybe not then, and if that is the case, then, i don't understand why we have graphics cards with the hdmi interface if it is not useable. i should be able to get by just fine with a dvi out to the tv and add a audio out ( but this tv doesn't have a dvi port ,just the vga-crap. well i do have the s video port-it ani't all that either,,please shed more guys...

The other HD Audio device is likely to be the Realtek ALC880 8-channel High Definition onboard sound. This is a bit of a decision point. If you plan on always using the AMD High definition Audio as your default ouput through an HD TV with HDMI out, then you can disable the Realtek HD audio device. Once that is done then restart the PC. Go to the Control panel and select sound, now sellect the AMD HDMI out and right-click and select it as the default. There should now be a green checkmark next to it. Now you can select Configure to test it.
    Kind regards,

  • Can JMF capture audio from sound card?

I want to know if JMF can capture sound/audio from the sound card. Until now we have been capturing audio from microphone. but is there any possibility of capturing audio from sound card using JMF.
The audio captured from the sound card is to be streamed using JMF/RTP API.

  • Stream audio from sound card input thru network

    Good Day:
I have an application where I need to access instruments at a remote location.  Command/Control of the instruments is not a problem, but I also need to stream the audio present at the remote system's sound card thru the network connection.  Any suggestions on how to accomplish this via LabWindows?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
    -Ed

    Hi Ed,
First, I was wondering, how do you get the audio from the sound card?  Is it from a LabWindows program? I've never done that.  Second, I was wondering how do you play the audio on the remote machine?  Is that through a LabWindows program?  I've never done that either.
But I was wondering if just a remote PC app would do the job.  Like admins use to take over your PC from there desk and fix problems.  I assume they have these that send the audio thru the net as well as the screen.  Then on the radio's PC you just need a LabWindows program to control the radio and some other app to play sound from the sound card input to the local speaker.  Then the remote PC app would magically transfer the screen and audio from the radio PC to the remote PC.
Otherwise, I can just say that to stream the audio thru the net, after the Radio's PC gets it off the sound card somehow, I would just set up two TCP servers on the remote PC, one for audio and one for the commands/control.  When the remote PC client connects to the audio server the audio server would just start sending audio data to the client.  The client would receive the data and put it in a big buffer to handle network speed variation.  Let the buffer fill up to like a second or more worth of data before having anothe function/thread read the buffer data and give the data to the client PC's sound card.  Big problem is that the client PC's sound card will alway's consume the data at a slightly different speed than the servers sound card produces it.  Different clocks running at slightly different frequencies.  So the client function that reads the audio buffer to give it to the sound card must play games.  If the buffer is shrinking over time then it has to create extra samples to give to the sound card, just duplicating a sample every 100 samples or whatever. If the buffer is growing over time then it throws away a sample every 100 sample or whatever.  So it's kind of a challenge to manage the buffer with the variable speed of the net transfering data and the two different rates of producing and consuming the audio data.
LabWindows has the TCP server create and client create functions so that's pretty easy.  The harder part is that you probibly want to set the Radio's PC to a fixed IP address so that you can connect to it without worrying about domain names and such.  Then the two TCP ports that the LabWindows uses for command and audio might need to be setup in all the routers to let you establish a connection.  Your IT guy's can answer that.
PS. you can play around with this suff on one PC by using the RegisterTCPServerEx function and setting the local host address to "localhost", or "127.0.0.1" on one LabWindows project and using the corresponding ConnectToTCpServerEx with "NULL" as the server host name on another LabWindows project.  This creates a virtual TCP connection on the same machine.  This does not duplicate the different audio clock issue I talked about above.

If you have it set up in dual graphics mode you may not see anything till you hit the login screen, do a search on youtube for videos that show how to set up your dual graphics, i think i remember seeing one that shows once you set up the dual graphics the first time, you will not see anything but a blank screen till you get to your login screen.

  • Stuck Pixel, but from graphics card, NOT LCD

Two days ago, I noticed two stuck white pixels on my 30" Apple Cinema Display. This display is plugged into the Mini-DisplayPort -> Dual Link DVI adapter and then into my unibody 17" Macbook Pro.
This all sounds fine and dandy, a somewhat common occurrence. But it's not.
If the pixels were really dead pixels on the screen, they wouldn't move. When I use the screen zoom feature (control-scrollwheel), they move. When I put the mouse in a certain position while zooming, I can actually push the "dead pixels" from the 30" display back onto the 17" laptop's display. The pixel also gets pixelated when it is zoomed.
I can cover up the dead pixels with the mouse (and not have a strange stationary dot on the mouse), and they appear in screen shots (taken with command-shift-3)
I rebooted the computer once, and they went away. Soon after, one of the two came back.
Sleeping the display and/or the computer does not make them go away.
They remain there when I switch spaces (their physical location on the screen stays the same - they do not slide and reappear in another space), and are there on top of any application. This includes all applications that may use Core Graphics (Quartz 2D), Core Animation, OpenGL, etc to display their interface.
Does anybody have the foggiest idea what is going on?

Ok, so I have more information:
    • The Firmware's Diagnostic Utility found nothing wrong (which, after the next few bullets, will make sense)
    • When at the login screen, the dot doesn't appear.
    • When logging in, the dot appears at the same time as the SystemUIServer for my user launches. Upon logout (or switch-users), the dot disappears at the same time the SystemUIServer goes away (hidden or quit)

  • X99S SLI Plus --- No Display from Graphics card?

Hey guys, this is my first build in about 8 years (ive been out of the game a long time), so I am far from being up to date. I have limited parts for testing and swapping so, swapping cpus, ram etc isnt much of an option, ive tested 2 video cards same issue on both.

  • Yosemite crashes several times a day from graphic card issue (photoshop cc hardware acceleration incompatability?)

Well. just like the title says.
Since upgrading to Yosemite, my MacBook Retina (1st gen) has been freezing (along with a very clear degradation in performance, but that's a whole different issue) several times a day.
When restarting, the system tells me it was due to some problem originating in the graphics processor. I believe this is a incompatibility with Photoshop's hardware acceleration settings. I'm running the latest version of Adobe Photoshop CC, and it doesn't solve the problem.
Should I simply turn off hardware acceleration and embrace the resulting loss of performance? Does anyone else experienced the same problem?

    Hi jolino,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with Yosemite on your MacBook Pro. I also apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the exact circumstances surrounding these freezes, as well as the exact error message you are seeing when your machine comes back up. • Broadwell Intel Audio Only HDMI Output

I have been trying for the last couple of days to get audio working on my Dell New XPS 13 (too new, maybe?). I don't think it's a hardware failure because the laptop is only four days old and the audio works when booted into Windows 8.1 (which is my YouTube OS for now).
The problem is that it detects that I only have HDMI audio (which I'm assuming refers to the mini display port on the laptop).

I'll look into that when I get home today, though my quick glance looks like it may hose some other things on the system. We'll see I guess.
I was afraid it was an issue of the chipset just being too new, and it looks like that might be the case. Maybe the next kernel update will help.
EDIT: Other than the audio issue, the laptop really is nice. It's very solid, lightweight, and small. I haven't tried any games on it yet, but I'm hoping it works well enough for some indie games.

  • [Bug] Playing stream audio from the editor almost always starts from beginning.

Whenever I am creating a movie clip with an audio layer set to "stream" I usually click certain points of the movie and hit enter to see and hear it. In Flash CC however, it seems about 95% of the time no matter what frame I am on when I hit enter the audio starts from the beginning and is not in sync. There have been a few cases in which the audio started at right frame but I haven't yet been able to isolate the process. Audio works great in the exported SWF, this issue is just just with the editor.

This bug still hasn't been fixed. I don't recommend Flash for any animator; the issue makes syncing to music and vocals extremely frustrating. This bug has been around for months without solution.
Running as administrator does not solve the problem.
You will have the audio bug even if you do not have a Beats Audio Soundcard.
The longer and more complicated your project, the more frequently the bug happens. When it first begins (around 15-30 seconds worth of frames and about 7 layers) you can make the audio stream as it should by clicking your audio track, setting it to "stop," saving your project, and setting the audio to "stream" again.
However, when you have about 60 seconds on your timeline, the bug happens a lot more, and you have to actually close the project to get the sound to work again if you do not have the patience to wait for it to fix itself. The wait ranges from 30 seconds to several minutes to never fixed until you close. It's highly unpredicatable. Sometimes it is not enough to close the project, in which case you must quit Flash and start it up again.
It happens with both mp3 and wav sounds.
After a month of this bug, I still can't pinpoint what causes it. It's completely random.
This post suggests it has something to do with scrubbing the timeline. I haven't been able to replicate the bug by doing this. It happens whether or not you use the slider or just click on frames to navigate.
    My system specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium (Service Pack 1)
    64-bit operating system
Processor: Intel i5-4670K CPU @3.40 GHz
    RAM: 8 GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Graphics Card
Audio is also NVIDIA High Definition Audio
The bug happens even if I plug in headphones to a regular audio port not on the graphics card.
Other audio types I have are the Intel Display Audio and Realtek High Definition Audio. I've tried messing with audio settings to no avail.

  • Audio from firewire interface not available to QT Broadcaster for streaming

We have two Mirror Door Power Mac G4's (Model PowerMac3,6) set up for originating streams.
One has a Lynx Studio L22 sound card in a PCI slot. QuickTime Broadcaster sees the audio from this card and we can originate streams fine.
The other computer has an M-Audio Firewire 410 Audio Interface connected by firewire. This interface is selected as the audio source in QuickTime Broadcaster. When we start broadcasting clients can see the stream, but there is no audio signal present in the stream.
Why is it different when using the external firewire audio interface? All else is the same between the computers. Both send streams to the same QTSS; both have identical RAM; both have the same CPU; both have no issue connecting to the QTSS.
    Thanks.

There is a description of a possible workaround at <http://homepage.mac.com/beryrinaldo/gbsf/>. It worked for me in principle, however, it has a significant delay. This does not allow you to monitor your track, e.g., using headphone. You also have to adjust the track after recording manually.
Another workaround would be to record a track using QuickTime Pro 7. QT lets you record directly from a DV camera via firewire. However, you still need to export as AIFF, import in GB, and adjust the track manually for every single recording.
It would be best to have a audio device (something like Soundflower) that can capture incomming signals from a DV camera directly and that is mentioned in the list of possible choices in GB's preferences.
Anyone out there who has seen something like that?
    Greetings,
    Claus

  • Laptop problem - screen or graphics card

Hello there, my sister has a problem with her laptop that I'm having trouble getting my head around. She told me last week that the screen on her laptop had started going black unexpectedly, not having the thing with me I thought maybe it was just going into standby but she says it goes black randomly, sometimes whilst in use. I then thought it may be a screen problem (backlight etc) as she then told me that when it went black she could still see the display if she looked at it in good light. This screamed backlight problem until I got here to plug it into an external monitor and the same thing happened.
Since I last spoke to her the problem seems to have gotten worse, she says the screen flickers on and off, sometimes staying on sometimes not. It used to come back on by pressing the power button but this no longer works either.
I'm a bit stuck as to whether its screen or graphics card related now, any ideas anyone? The laptop is an hp pavilion dv6552ea.

You can tell screen problems from graphics card problems by hooking the computer to an external monitor. If the problem is the same on an external monitor, then the problem is the video card. If not, it is the screen. Since the problem shows up on the external monitor it is the video card which is par for the course on that series of models with AMD CPU and nVidia graphics.
