No audio from hdmi port on pavilion dv6

hey everyone, perhaps someone can help me out with this audio issue. i have a pavilion dv6 and I'm trying to pass audio through the hdmi port to my dvdo edge scaler, but it doesn't seem to be working. i don't have any trouble with the audio from the hdmi port to my plasma. but i also dont have any other audio issues with other units plugged into the scaler. I tried changing default audio device and then my media players stops working. so I'm very confused if anyone has any ideas I'm fresh out as I have been working on this problem for most of the afternoon. thanks

Did you install the Intel chipset driver , the Intel IMEI driver, HP Quicklaunch driver and the HP Software Framework?
The simplest way of reinstalling the OS to a new hard disk would have been by using the USB recovery media. From the HP Recovery Manager select the Factory image recovery.

  • Split audio from hdmi

    Hi there,
I'd like to replace my first gen Apple TV with a new one.
The problem is the lack of analog audio outputs.
Currently I connect to my tv with hdmi and to my hifi with phono plugs.
The new Apple TV only has hdmi and digital audio out which my hifi doesn't ....
Is there a way I can split the audio out of the hdmi so I can play iTunes through the hifi with the TV switched off?
    Cheers Lizardpoint

I'm not aware of any cables that split audio from HDMI and in any case it would still be digital audio. You might want to think about one of the items below and use the optical cable.

  • Audio out from HDMI port?

I have connected my TV and Booklet via a standard HDMI cable.  This same HDMI cable works fine with my DVD player.   When I use it with my booklet, only video seems to be sent to the TV via the HDMI cable.  Is the HDMI out port supporting only video, or audio as well? I understand the booklet supports HDMI 1.2, which should support an audio profile, as far as I know.
Let me know if you have been able to get audio to work over HDMI.
    thanks,
    John

I found your discussion attempting to find the answer to the same question.
I won 5 of these things at auction and wanted HDMI to be a selling point
I researched far and wide and now I think I have the answer now.
I had to reload the OS and  all the drivers for all 5 units
I read some of the replies to this topic and with some people saying that they had audio and I didn't, I felt that either I was crazy or someone is not truthful. so i had a thought ,
after about  the 3rd unit I tried to just try to hook it up to a TV bare without Nokia updated software
What do you know, it worked.
So I have come to the conclusion based upon using both units after testing them with and without the update, is with the stock driver provided, you will get the audio from the HDMI port; if you update the software from the updater(which I noticed it says the driver is MANDATORY)
    You will not.
There is a plus and minus on both occassions
With the graphics driver update you can scale your video once hook to an HDTV to full 1080p HD; but you wont get any audio (at least for now)
Without the update you will get the audio out , however you will only get the same native resolution as the netbook 720p
So contemplate which feature is more important you   and make your choice.
Higher picture quality(full HD) with the driver yet I need 2 cable  (HDMI AND 2.5 to RCA)
OR lower  resolution720p but audio as well
I hope this helps but i see my next challenge for both you and is to see if we can roll back the driver if we want audio over HDMI.

  • Can I port Apple TV audio to RCA and retain audio from HDMI?

Odd situation: My Audio receiver only allows RCA Analog for the outdoor speakers and will allow, but will allow digital for indoor speakers. I want to get my mom an iPad so she can easily either play audio while outdoors (using the Red and White Analog) and at the same time have the Apple TV plugged into the HDMI receiver for indoor video viewing and listening to music.
What is the best way to transfer Optical into Analog (red and white)
Is it possible to switch from purely HDMI output (while watching video) to solely audio from the Optical port (which would be converted to Analog)
Can this be set up by me, but used very simply for a non-tech savvy woman?

no matter what then depending on the converter you use audio and video could very easy get out of sync

  • HDMI sound. Pavilion DV6. Windows 7. TV sound was working via HDMI. Now switched off?

I connected the pavilion dv6 to the tv with an HDMI cable. Sound and vision were working on the tv after setting the TV to HDMI.
My Grandson discovered that their was no sound from the computer and, unknown to me, changed something to get sound from the computer speakers which stopped sound from the tv.
How do I get sound back to the tv via HDMI. How do you switch from computer to tv sound and back ? can you have both at once ?
    malcolm

    Hi Malcolm,
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Display Devices - make a note of the hardware listed here i.e. ATI, Nvidia or Intel.
Next, connect your notebook via HDMI to your Tv.  Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click once ( just to highlight the entry ) the HDMI Output that has the same name as your display adapter and then click the Set Default button - see if you now have audio.

  • Audio stop working in a Pavilion dv6 with vista enterprise 64

    Hi guys,
I´m having a very strange problem with my girlfriend´s laptop. One month ago, we bought a HP pavilion dv6-1117es with Windows Vista Home 32 bits installed. I changed the S.O. to a new Vista Enterprise 64 bits. Everything works perfectly. Last week while she was working with MS Word, the sound system stops working. Nothing changes and the laptop didn´t show any errors. I made all the tests I could imagined without success. Frustrated I decided to reinstall the S.O. but there is no sound.
    Steps done:
Review and reinstall drivers from HP. I also have uninstall all the items in the audio system and the laptop rediscover the hardware without errors.
I have tried any option both in the windows vista audio mixer and in the IDT application selecting any audio source possible.
I have updated the laptop bios into the latest version.
I have tried with several external speakers and I have the same result.
    Also updated MS UAA.
    Also restarted audio services
    Symptoms:
The problem is that everything looks ok. The mixer shows the green bar up and down when I play any mp3 song. It seems to work in all the devices including external speakers, double speakers, SPIF line out and HDMI out. There is no red crosses or yellow warnings anywhere.
    Please help me.
    Thanks-

HI Jaimese, yes I tried XP service pack 2 does not help.
I did a system reinstallation apparently that worked for all of 10 minutes,
then back to teh same thign.  It must be a software issue.
Theonly time when it sort of worked was when the HP guy told me to uninstall the IDT drivers, then windows vista reinstalled it again.
I did a total clean install , meaning I wped the HDD clean through system restore that did nothing.
I  don't know what to do. Well......... actually I do . If nobody takes responsability
    A) return HP comptuer to retailer.
    B) Take a trip to local Apple store. (yes they are expensive but at this point I should not have to do a clean install one week into ownership).

Only one of the jacks is for sound ouput. Take a close look and notice that one has an icon of a microphone and the otheris an icon of headphones. You will only get sound output if you connect the headphone (they usually have icons as well) 35mm plug to the proper jack on the notebook. Sound normally switches automatically from the speakers to the headphones when connected unless changes have been made to the Sound settings in Control panel.
You should try the Microsoft Fixit center for the automated sound fixit utility.

  • Mac mini 2014 won't do 5.1 surround sound from HDMI port

I can't seem to get my Mac mini 2014 to do 5.1 surround sound from the built-in HDMI port to my home theatre system. When I run the Audio MIDI Setup program the only option is 2ch-24bit (stereo). Now I didn't have this issue when I tested it with a Mac mini 2012 running 10.9.5. It allow me to select 6ch-24bit (5.1) and Encoded Digital Audio. I also don't have an issue with the Mac mini 2014 if I use a Belkin Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter connected to one of the Thunderbolt 2 ports. It does 5.1 surround sound just fine. So is there something wrong with the built-in HDMI port on the Mac mini 2014 or OS X 10.10?

  • No audio from hdmi output from graphics card

hello, i have a ms-7191 motherboard that has on board graphics, i installed a visiontec ATI 4350 card so i can output the a/v to my vizio 46" TV using one of the hdmi ports. , the video works but no audio. tried to update the drivers from msi-no help, tried to update the graphics card drivers from visiontec (added the hd audio driver)-no help. tried updating the realtek driver-no help. tried swapping hdmi ports on the TV-no help. i know that i'm  not the first to not be able to do this and i have searched for the answer, but i out of ideas, is it possible the problem is that it has a onboard graphics on the board? what should i do now?
    Joel

This board came with a spidif bracket-installed into the pci e connector, maybe i am missing something here, is it that is there is no audio connector to the graphics card, so there will be no sound from the hdmi connector? if so how does one get a card to work with the hdmi for both A/V? i thought this card will be able to access the needed info, maybe not then, and if that is the case, then, i don't understand why we have graphics cards with the hdmi interface if it is not useable. i should be able to get by just fine with a dvi out to the tv and add a audio out ( but this tv doesn't have a dvi port ,just the vga-crap. well i do have the s video port-it ani't all that either,,please shed more guys...

  • How do I output Apple TV audio from HDMI and Airplay simultaneously

Is there a way  to  output Apple TV (2nd Gen.) audio from the HDMI port and Airplay simultaneously? There is no "Multiple Speaker" setting in the "AirPlay setup on the Apple TV.

    Not possible.

  • No audio from HDMI output because High Definition Audio Driver cannot start (Envy 17 Quad)

Ever since I first bought this laptop two months ago, the audio from the HDMI output has always been inconsistent. I remember it working a couple times, but there were more times when my audio driver didn't recognize that an HDMI cable was plugged in. Yes, I tried all the obvious: shutting down computer, checking disabled devices in Playback Devices, reinstalling drivers, etc. Now, when I plug an HDMI cable in, the video comes out fine but the IDT High Definition Audio CODEC does not recognize HDMI/my TV. The High Definition Audio Driver says it cannot start, but I could not reinstall nor find a download from HP's website. How can I get audio through HDMI to my TV??

  • Got Mavericks now no audio from HDMI

So I upgraded to Mavericks today and my HDMI that I plug to my TV from my Macbook Pro no longer has audio. I'm not that deep into the technical side of things. All I know is I use my Macbook Pro with my Sony Bravia TV everyday connected directly from MBP to TV with an HDMI cord. I update to Mavericks and now I get no audio at all but the video is as normal as it's ever been. Now I have, of course went to settings and clicked HDMI output to TV, I'm not that inexperienced. I'm not getting audio out of any application. I tried switching outputs while connected and switching back and even restarting the MBP multiple times while connected to the TV to no avail. Nothing has changed in the routine and it is as basic a set up as it gets. Do I just need to go back to Mountain Lion which is what I had prior or am I overlooking a simple solution here.

Yes it shows up like it normally did the day before. Before installing Mavericks there was never an issue. It's Internal speakers and Sony TV with a check mark by Sony TV.

  • Delay difference on audio from HDMI vs Phono

    Hi All
I'd like to use my ATV to have sound output from television but also from stereo amplifier at the same time. I have the TV connected via HDMI and the stereo via phono but there is a slight time delay on one of the outputs and the audio sounds terrible.
If I use the TV on it's own or the stereo amp on it's own the audio is fantastic.
    Can anyone help?

Processing video/audio on a TV can introduce a delay fo several to tens of msec. Mainly it's the video processing that causes delay.
For most TVs internal audio/sound output the manufacturer will have ensured things are in sync.
The problem arises when you have a display and a separate sound generating system - analogue stereo audio, unless processed at the amp eg DLP or some other pseudo surround, is just amplified and heard almost instantly. Processing of digital audio streams eg via optical or co-axial, might introduce a slight delay but very little compared to image processing as for video consecutive frames are often analysed before outputting the first. Once there's a significant picture/external audio delay you might notice lip sync issues for video, and if comparing Tv and separate audio there'll be a delay.
Even if both are in sync if playing in different rooms you may get delay when listening simply due to the slow speed of sound.

  • No audio from HDMI Macbook mid 2009. Solution through Apple TV?

    Hi all,
I have recently bought a nice Philips Smart-TV 46PFL4208T. I planned to directly use the TV to watch Flash or Sillerlight containts, without the needed of connecting the laptop. Unfortunately, the Philips software for Smart-TV is not yet mature and it does not support not Flash nor Silveright.
This means that I must to connect my mid 2009 MacBook pro to the TV. That way I would just use the laptop capabilities of reading Flash/Silverlight and project them stratigthly into the TV through the HDMI connection. So,  I went to the Apple Store and I bought a straight cable MiniDisplay-HDMI (paid around 50€). Unfortunately, the audio does not work. I read around and it seems that my latptop is too to support audio HDMI and that there are no turnarounds for this issue.
So I was thinking to return the cable and get an Apple TV instead, but I don't know if Apple TV can be used for my goal. Could you please let me know and/or provide any suggestion to solve my issue?
    Best,
    Ubaldo

Yeah, just opened a discussion there, only for curiosity.
At this point instead of buying an Apple TV, I may keep my HDMI cable to connect to the TV an then I may just connect an audio cable from the heaphones out of my laptop to the TV or to an external loudspeaker. That way I would have everything mirored on the TV as well. I think I will adopt this solution while waiting that the Philips guys release a good software for their TVs.
Moreover, considering that I will just run some TV from some TV website, it is not important really to have laptop mobility (i.e. wireless), since it will standing on a chair while I am comfortably watching some nice TV show laying of the sofa
So, no points to get an Apple TV (I don't even need its smart functions, having already a smart-tv).
    Thanks anyway for the answers.
