No Audio from iPod dock

iPod Touch model PC547C with 6.0.1 (10A523) firmware. TDM-iP50 docking station connected to STR-DH100 receiver. Using earlier iPod firmware, everything worked as expected. Currently, the iPod will power up when the receiver is powered up and it will charge but the remote has no effect and there is no audio through the receiver. The iPod works fine on it's own. Suggestions?

Hello Ray,
Welcome to the Sony Community.
We are investigating if any updates are required for our products to work with iPod Touch installed with the latest firmware update. You may also contact Apple support to see if they have a resolution from their side on compatibility.

  • No audio from my docking stations any longer

My iPod Touch (~2 years old) will no longer play audio from my two docks.  This problem may have started after the latest update, but I don't recall.  (I don't recall if the problem w/ the first dock occurred prior to the update or after.)  When I place it on the docks, it gets power (starts charging) but won't play any audio.  It just plays music through the internal speaker.  It has worked on both for the past two years.  Any ideas?
Worst case, does anyone know how I can upload the OS version before the last update to see if that fixes it?
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, it seems like iOS 5 and/or 5.0.1 makes the docks form some manufacturer's incompatible. Have you checked the dock's support site? Only solution is to waid for a firmware update from either Apple or the dock manufacturer.

  • No Audio from iPod

I have a 30GB Gen. 5 that out of nowhere refuses to make noise. correction, it still clicks when I hit buttons or use the wheel, but no audio from the music or videos can be played. The timer moves, the progress bar animates, everything looks hunky-dory, but the iPod doesn't work either with headphones or on ANY iPod dock/Dock Cable. I left it at work, but I'm going to restore it tomorrow (soft reset did nothing).

either your jack is messed up and you need to replace it or your ipod is defected with the same problem MANY people are having. check this thread out

  • Export my audio from iPod into organized folders with menaninful filenames

    Hello,
I want to "export" my audio from the iPod to my hard drive. A mere copy-and-paste (or drag-and-drop) will not do because on my iPod, the music is scattered in special folders and have special names, thanks to iPod's special way of syncing. How can I export my stuff from iPod into nice human-workable folders and filenames, just as things were when I synced audio from my hard drive to the iPod?
If you could recommend FREE software, I'd appreciate it.

Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump and iPodRobot.
(and I'm assuming here that "other OS" means Windows)

  • HT5364 How to optimize the dictation feature using an external device. For example using the audio from iPod to dictate into word.

Dictation feature not writing  exact phrases or sentences to the word document.  I tried using my iPad, however the text written is 90% incorrect. What can I do to improve that experince.  I do a lot of transcriptions and this would greatly assist me.

iPad runs an entirely different opreating system.    How it handles dictation doesn't affect how your MacBook Pro handles it.   To solve at least the iPad, post here:

Is your dictation problem with Mac OS X 10.9.2 on your MacBook Pro as well?  If it is, I'll request this thread be moved to the 10.9 forum where more people have experience with 10.9.

  • No audio from speaker

Weird happening. Lost audio from iPod feature but can be played through headset and callers can't hear me unless speaker phone is on. Anyone run into this? Could you fix it? This is my 5th iphone. I hope apple will release a fix before Friday! Otherwise, I shall wait for a stable iPhone.

I doubt a fix will be out by Friday.
But who knows. I also expect future updates to the iPhone to fix a lot of the existing problems.
    Good luck.

  • I have a docking station to charge and play audio from my ipod touch 3rd gen.  Just bought a new ipod touch 5 th gen.  Is there a converter/ adapter available so I can continue to use my dock?

I have a docking station to charge and play audio from my ipod touch 3rd gen.  Is there an adapter available for the ipod touch 5th gen so that I can keep using the old dock?

    Lightning  Adopters
One of these adopters/cables should work:

    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD823ZM/A/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter?fnode=45

  • Why doesn't my lightning to 30 pin adapter support any of my audio my from ipod touch 5th generation

Why doesn't my lightning to 30 pin adapter support any of my audio my from ipod touch 5th generation.on my dock

Have you contacted the dock manufacturer?
The adopter supports audio if the dock manufacturer says the dock supports the 5G iPod.
It may be that the dock does not work with iOS 6.x vie the 5G. Sometimes an iOS update will break compatibility.

  • Is the iPhone4 dock line out dif from iPods?

My SendStation dock connector, which works on iPods, exhibits no audio from the line out connector
when connected to my new iPhone4.
Just in case, I made sure that the USB connector is also connected.
    Still no audio.
    Headphone connector works.
Google does show a few people having very low line out audio level problem.
    No answers yet.
    I'm hoping it's a setting.
    Thanks.

When I bought my first iPod (a 40GB hard drive based model) it came wth a dock.   have used that dock over the years as I upgraded to a 5th Gen iPod, then a first gen iPod Touch, an iPhone 3G, a 3rd Gen iPod Touch, and now an iPhone 4.  All my devices seem to work about the same in that very old dock.  Only the hard drive based devices fit it properly, but the other devices stll plug n (with plenty of free space around them) and play just fine.
Based on my experiences, I wold guess that it's either your Sendstation or your iPhone that is the problem but based on what you provide it is hard to determine whch.  If ou have any friends with iPhone 4's you could ask them to try their phones in your dock.  If theirs works fine, it is probably your Phone, otherwise if theirs have problems too I would suspect you have a faulty dock.

  • IPod (40G) started mains humming when connected to audio amp via dock

I have had my iPod connected to my audio amp through the Apple docking station while also connected to the Apple charger.
This setup worked for many months, especially when I purchased the infra-red remote control and could run the setup from my couch.
Recently, without making any obvious changes to the system, a loud mains related humm is heard. I know a thing or two about electronics, and I'm sure it's not a ground loop. The humm is also not coming from a defective loader because the 12 volt is clean (checked with a scope). The only way I can get rid of the humm is by connecting the headphone output to the input of the amp. This works, but now renders my remote control useless.
I suspect the docking station or a ground fault in the Fire-Wire cable, but I have no spares to switch them out.
Any out there with the same problem, or any ideas?
    Tks,
    Paul
    PC   Windows XP Pro

If you are so sure that it is not the grounding issue of you audio system (make sure you did not make any change on wires or added any electronic device), then it could be caused by one of the following
    1. iPod itself (but unlikely)- try to do a Reset or Restore to factory setting
    2. Faulty iPod cable
    3. Faulty iPod ac charger
    4. Audio cable connection between the dock station and amp
    5. iPod dock station (likely poor contact between your iPod with the dock station)

  • IPod freezes when playing from a docking station...Any ideas about a fix?

I have had my current iPod for a couple of years now, and until recently it has worked flawlessly. Over the past couple of months a problem has develoed when I play my iPod from a docking station. When I play the iPod from it's cradle (connected to my HK Soundsticks) or from my JBL Speaker Base, the iPod plays fine for the first few songs. After a few songs, the iPod stops in the middle of song and skips to the next song, then skips three of four times without playing at all and utltimately locks up completely. The problem seems to arise when I am simultaneously playing and charging.
    Any ideas?
    I am using a 40mb, clickwheel, iPod.

All I can suggest is to re-encode the video as m4v with QT Pro, there might've been a problem in encoding. Also, try sending this same video (setting TV Out to Yes) with the iPod not plugged into the dock and with an Apple RCA cable, if you have one, hooked up to a TV. If that works, the dock connector might be damaged (unlikely) but it's possible. So once you've re-encoded, see if the dock situation works then. Good luck.

  • No sound output from Maxell iPod dock

Just purchased a Silver 8GB Nano, Maxell iPod dock, and the Scosche PassPort/Adapter for 5th generation iPods, all as a gift set. The Maxell dock now charges the Nano with the Scosche adapter, but there is no music signal out of the dock's 3.5mm jack. In fact, the Nano's internal speaker remains on while sitting on the dock, charging.
I have reset the device many times using center + menu, with no changes.
Headphones plugged into the Nano's 3.5mm jack work perfectly, but no output from the Maxell dock.
Anyone used this dock, with or without a 5th gen Nano, or have any tips to fix this? I am still waiting on a reply from Maxell via email, but I doubt that will happen until next week...

I have the same problem with a 5th Generation iPod on a Jensen JiMS-195 Universal Docking Station for iPod. The sound is great using the Auxiliary jack, but I only get sound through the internal iPod speakers when it's docked. I have checked the Apple site and the Jensen site, but no luck.
Is there some setting on the iPod to change this behavior or is the dock the problem? Any response would be welcome.

  • HT1473 How do I get a purchased song to play on my ipod shuffle remote from the docking station?

How do I get a purchased song to play on my ipod shuffle remote from the docking station?

I can think of only one reason a song would be "converted" while it is being loaded on a shuffle.
Select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, depending on iPod model, go to the Summary or Settings tab.  There should be a setting there that says Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC (the 128 kbps part may be adjustable).  If that checkbox is checked, try unchecking it.
NOTE:  This setting may allow more songs to fit on the shuffle, but for any converted song, the sound quality will become inferior.  So I don't use it.

  • Unpair remote from ipod universal dock?

I just got the Universal Dock, and now it's interfering with my ability to use my apple remote with my laptop (the laptop playlist and ipod playlist in the dock starts up when I use the remote). I know how to unpair from the laptop, but how do I unpair from the dock?

    This didn't answer my question.
So the instruction on how to unpair it from the dock and the link for the same which I posted above is not what you are looking for?
I don't want the remote to control the dock anymore.
As I wrote above, the only way you can have your remote NOT control the dock is if you pair the dock with a different remote. Or cover up the sensor.
Unpairing it will not prevent it from controlling it. Unpairing it means that all remotes (even the one you now have) will control the dock.
I know you can unpair it with the computer, so I was hoping you could do the same with the dock.
You can. Follow the instructions I posted above.
However, doing that will not prevent the remote from controlling the dock.
When you pair a remote with a dock or a computer, it simply means that the remote it is paired with is the only remote that will control it. It does NOT prevent the remote from controlling anything else.
