No audio from mp4 player

Hi
I was given a wmv file which I converted to an mp4 file in Wondershare so I could open it in Premiere. The file is just audio from a webinar, so no video.
I have cut the sequence that I want and tried to import it to the timeline two ways:
1. I clicked the overwrite button but it has just brought it in the video layer (yes I did have only the audio selected). So whilst it plays there is no audio.
2. I clicked the new item button and got a lot of options, wasn't sure which to pick so I clicked new sequence. And I have no idea what to do with it to be honest.
So any advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. Whether it is convert the wmv to another format or how to bring in the audio as well would be greatly appreciated

How do I get audio from mp4 video to stop playing on other slides? URGENT

I have imported an mp4 video into my Captivate file, and it plays well. But when I get to slides after that one, the audio from the video file repeats on several other slides. How do I get this ugly behavior to stop?
I don't want to unsync the audio and video because it could get out of sync on playback.
Please advise ASAP. I am supposed to be handing this in tomorrow and have spent countless hours doing workarounds on this project already...

Hello Ellen,
What is your Captivate version and what option did you choose to insert the video?
If it is Captivate 6, Can you use the Multi Slide Synchonize video. If it is a Previous version, can you select the Video and from properties choose to synchronize with project?
Does the audio play on other slides when you jump from an incomplete video to other slides or when you view the complete video and then move to rest of the slides.

Audio from flv player won't stop playing

Hi, I have a swf loading in another swf that has a video player in it. When I remove the swf from the stage, the swf goes away but the audio from the swf keeps playing. Is there a way to tell that swf to stop playing from the parent swf?

I have a document class referencing a class that contains the video player. The reference for the class is called vPlayer and the reference to the actual component in vPlayer is myPlayer.
This is the code in my Document class that calls vPlayer:

No Audio from DVD Player

OS X 10.4.8 - QuickTime 7.1.3 -
Having a strange problem when trying to play DVD's.
DVD Player plays the images but I get no audio.
I've fiddled with the DVD's language options and
the DVD player controls but still nothing.
So far I've had this problem with all twelve DVD's I experimented with.
CD's, QuickTime, MP3, etc. files play fine - no problems so the problem seems to be DVD Player.

I am having the same problem with my G5. It just started today. The most recent update I have done was yesterday to the latest version of iTunes. I have also updated my Powerbook but it hasn't seemed to have affected it yet. I have tried playing DVD's in the VLC media player and at first I get no audio as well but if I change the audio setting from "built-in (encoded)" to just "built-in" it pays back the audio fine. Any ideas?

No Audio from Real Player

This has been posted before both here and on other sites but to my knowledge no solution has been found. I use about ten different Macs and they all run Real Player fine apart from this one, a last edition PowerBook G4 15" 1.67 Hi-Res. When it was new Real Player worked fine, for example playing the live BBC Radio streams. Now it still appears to work but there is no audio at all, not even from the sample movie that plays when Real starts! One day it worked, the next, nothing! I have tried all the usual fixes and have upgraded to the latest version of the free Real player but still get silence. How strange! It works fine on all manner of other Macs but searching on the net shows a number of PBG4 owners with this problem. I wonder if it got broken when Apple produced the 'fix' to resolve the sound stuttering problems that plagued this model?

I've the same problem with a iMac G5! No sound, I can see the videos on Youtube, but no audio! I had this problem yesterday, then I updated to macOs 10.4.8 and then it worked fine. Today I saw a divx video and then no audio again on RealAudio! Pherhaps it's a conflict between different players!
I tried to reinstall RealPlayer, to repair disc, to delete preferences...
What can we do?

Extract audio from MP4 movie file to iTunes library

I downloaded a 5-minute movie, it's now sitting on my desktop as a mp4 QuickTime file, opens and plays fine. I want to turn the audio soundtrack of the movie (one complete song) into an mp3 in my Music library, so I can just play the song on my iPod without opening the movie file (I have an older iPod 60GB that doesn't play movies). Please advise, thanks

Open the movie in the QuickTime Player and Select Export -> Sound to AIFF.
Drop the exported AIFF file into iTunes.
Make sure the iTunes CD Import Settings in Prefs is set to the MP3 encoder.
Right-Click on the AIFF file in the iTunes Library display and select Create MP3 Version.

Incompatible audio from MP4 file

I have several business partners that are supplying me with .mp4 files from Adobe live flash media encoder, using the h.264 codec, but the only audio choice is for an MP3 codec. this combination displays/plays no audio in Premiere Pro CS5. Only after I use handbrake to convert the audio to the AAC codec with it play in the Timeline.The upgrade to the main concept plug-in for AFMLE will allow for this, but the business partners are reluctant to spend the $
Question: is CS6 compatible with the default of FMLE with h.264 and the .mp3 audio? if so I will upgrade.

No intelligible audio from Flash Player

I just upgraded to Windows 7 Pro 32bit a few weeks ago. Since then I have not been able to hear any sites that use Flash Player. I can see video just fine, but not audio. All I get is low, rumbling bass sound and scratchy, squeaky, intermittent high pitched sounds. I've tried uninstalling Flash Player 10 and reinstalling it to no avail. I would love some help on this one.

No multi-channel audio from DVD Player or Quicktime?

I have the A52Codec 1.7.6 installed. The codec preferences are set to output multi-channel audio. I have my Audio MIDI setup speaker configuration setup for multi-channel audio and the speaker assignment tests are all perfect. VLC plays back files with AC-3 soundtracks in perfect 5.1 multi-channel sound. Final Cut plays multi-channel audio properly as well.
When I watch a DVD, it is decoded to stereo. The dialog on 5.1 always comes from the left and right speakers and never from the center channel. It doesn't matter whether I remove the A52Codec and try again the result is aways the same, 5.1 audio in Quicktime and DVD Payer gets decoded to stereo. It is not that extra channels are missing, if that were true I'd get no dialog at all.
What do I have to do to make the DVD and Quicktime multi-channel audio decode as multi-channel audio and not stereo.

I'm not sure if this will resolve your issue or not, but have you configured it using /Utilities/Audi MIDI Setup ?

No 5.1 Audio from NetFlix Player

I've just subscribed to the NetFlix player and have found that there is no 5.1 audio on any title I would expect to have it. I started an online chat session with NetFlix, it was said that only titles that have 5.1 surround sound available will display either a DD+ icon or a 5.1 icon on the movie description page. I can't see any of these icons on the desciption pages so does this mean that no title on the UK catalogue has 5.1 surround sound, just bog standard Prologic. Very disappointed if it does.

No Audio From Flash Player

I seem to suddenly have lost all audio whenever I play a
video. In both Firefox and Internet Explorer, I can play a video,
but there is no sound. Other programs such as iTunes work fine. It
seems to be limited to just internet content.
Any suggestions?

otherwise when i try to install system wide i get an invalid
error about my system install path being invalid.

Cannot hear audio from external iSight

My machine is a 2007 Mac Pro octo, 16GB RAM, OS 10.5.2. Software Update reports the system as up-to-date.
I just got an external iSight webcam. It's recognized by System Profiler as model 0x8, revision 1.0.3. (For unknown reasons it's reported as having four sub-units and a 200MB/sec connection speed.) iSight Updater reports the unit as up-to-date.
Its video appears in iChat's (4.0.2) video preview window, and the video's quality is acceptable. The audio meter at the bottom of the preview displays a signal that varies in response to the sound level in the iSight's environment.
The iSight appears in System Prefs/Sound as a FireWire input. The display there varies with the environment's sound level, and is responsive to changes in the Input Volume setting on the same screen.
The iSight shows up in Audio MIDI Setup as a fixed one-channel, 16-bit, 48kHz audio source.
The above tells me the iSight is producing an audio signal. Nothing I've been able to do, however, has permitted me actually to hear this audio signal. Whether I select the Mac Pro's built-in output, its built-in line output, or an external FireWire audio interface, I cannot hear the iSight's audio. Using these same configurations, however, I can hear audio from QuickTime Player or any other audio app I've tried, as well as all system alerts. The problem seems to lie in the signal's routing.
I've followed this forum's maintenance and troubleshooting guidelines, including isolating the iSight on the FireWire bus and repairing permissions from a second 10.5.2 start-up drive.
I've spent several hours searching for clues about what might be happening, but have exhausted the suggestions I could find.
Does anyone have any further thoughts on how I might go about capturing this camera's audio signal?
I'd appreciate any assistance that gets me there.

You sound like an experienced Mac user, and you have tried most of the things that can cause this problem. You probably have already checked to be certain that your iChat > Video > Microphone Enabled has a check (tick) mark.
If so, the next suspect I can suggest for your consideration is a possible hardware or software conflict with your "external FireWire audio interface". Disconnect it and test iSight audio again. If it still does not work, uninstall any software that was installed with your audio interface and try again.
If that does not help, you can use any of the suggestions from How to test your iSight to ensure it is functional that you have not already tried.
If, when you play back the file, you can hear the sound recorded with your iSight using iMovie (4 or later), QuickTime Pro, or some other app that can record audio, your iSight itself cannot be the problem. You may have a corrupted iChat preference file. Try this:
• quit iChat if it is running
• delete your Home(User)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ichat.plist file.
A new .plist file will be created the next time you launch iChat, but deleting the .plist file deletes several iChat preference settings, so those you want to be different from the default values will need to be reset.
If all else fails, your external iSight likely needs help form an Apple Service Technician. The external iSight you bought is likely not covered by Apple Warranty. If the seller is not providing you service guarantees or warranty, you may be want to check Apple's iSight Service: Frequently Asked Questions. If your external iSight needs parts that you or your Service Technician cannot locate, http://www.synaptech.com may be able to help you obtain those that are still available.
BTW, your posted system info shows Mac OS X (10.4.10), but you say that you repaired permissions from "a second 10.5.2 start-up drive." Hopefully, your posted info merely needs to be updated. Although we must start from a different disk to repair a disk, I am sure you know that we repair permissions on a startup disk using its disk utility when started from that drive. For benefit of less experienced readers, don't repair permissions for a disk with one Mac OS version (like 10.4.x) when started up from a different Mac OS like 10.5.x because doing so can cause serious permissions problems.

How can i copy a playlist from itunes to a mp4 player without loosing the order of the tracks in the playlist?

I'm having problems transfering the playlists i've created from itunes to a mp4 player. It's not an ipod, and everytime i try to do this operation, the songs show up not by the order in the playlist but by alphabetical order. Is there any way to copy the playlist without loosing the order of the songs and directly, - i mean, without having to copy song by song to a folder in the mp4 player -, like it happens with the ipod? If so, how?

Just got rid of them... I closed Quicktime and was asked to delete. So I deleted them. Problem solved.
