No audio heard from sequence during timeline playback

I am a new user to PPro CS 5.5, just opening my first project.
I have captured a few clips and brought them into the project. Previewing them in the source window, I see the video track play and hear the audio track.
I moved one of the clips onto the timeline and attempted to view it. I see the video playing but no audio is heard.
I opened the clip in Audition. the audio played there, no problem
I am sure there must be a configuration parameter to set but I cannot find it.
Can someone suggest where I can look?
Thank you

Examining the source window playback settings, I see that realtime Playback has no external device selected in the drop down and Desktop audio is selected with the button. External Device is grayed out.
With these settings, I hear the audio track.
Examining the editing window playback settings, I see something very different.
The menu box is titled Blackmagic playback settings.
The only option entry in the menu box is: a choiceto "Turn off Dropped frame Warning"
I have a Blackmagic Intensity Pro card installed on my PC and used it to capture my video clip on mini-DV tape played from my Sony GV-HD700 videocasette.
Why am I seeing this BM menu reference only on the editing window? Is this the indication of my problem?
I went back to defining another sequence and the menu choice opened with the same path, as my previous first time at this, to a Blackmagic selection. I changed to a HDV 1080i selection for this 2nd sequence. When I dropped the clip into the 2nd sequence, presto, the sound was there.
Now I am wondering what is the blackmagic option for?
What is the difference between the source and editing window parameters?
That is left to when I have more time to dig into it.
Thanks again

  • No Subwoofer during games or music, but audio heard on it during speaker test...

    Hi all,
I really hope someone can help me with my problem. I recently purchased a Yamaha A/V Receiver that has a Multi-Channel Input (Model: HTR-5835). I have an Audigy 2zs gamer card and I am running three Mini (3 pole) to RCA adapters into the three seperate channels on the multi channel input.
I assume all the speakers are set up correctly because during both the Receiver's AND the THX control panel speaker tests I could heard audible noise coming from my subwoofer. I can also set the receiver to tuner and listen to the radio with the subwoofer.
I have CMSS turned on and I have listened to MP3's through winamp and WMP and there was no subwoofer, but all other channels (including center) worked fine. I also tried playing BF942, WoW, guild Wars and Doom 3 with no subwoofer sound at all.
Does anyone have any ideas or a solution to figuing out this issue? I have been wracking my brains and searching the net for 3 days to no avail.
    Thank you.
    Ndy

It's in Bass Management section of the Speaker Settings. Bass Boost will be greyed out with 5.1/6.1 or 7.1 speakers as it is meant for 2.1 and 4.1 systems.
    <IMG height=335 src="mk:angry:MSITStore:C:\Documents and Settings\Paul Cook\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content. IE5\WDA3CDI7\A2ZS[].chm::/images/spkr settings.gif" width=499 border=0>
It should be possible to get a decent output from the sub when using the bass redirection. This will give you 5.1 when upmixing with CMSS or playing games and 2.1 with stereo sources. If your sub can't amplify the signal enough, you may need to put a small preamp in between the soundcard and receiver to boost it. You could make one yourself if you're into electronics, there will probably be lots of preamp circuit diagrams on the web. DWH explains why the sub output is lower than the rest here:
    http://forums.creative.com/creativel...id=8533&page=2.
You could also go for a more expensive fix, which would be to use a crosover like this one in between the soundcard and receiver:

  • Audio not heard from the speakers when iPhone connected to the power cord.

somtimes no audio heard from external speakers at all, when iPhone is connected to the power cord.
The troubleshoot I have done successfully was unpluging the power cord from the back of the iPhone then it rests the audio and audio can be heard through the speakers. This issue needs to be addressed to Apple tech support for permanent resolution.

  • IMovie audio issues. Fine in timeline, but when rendering to iTunes or Media Browser, audio from certain portions of movie files are heard in places where it shouldn't be !

iMovie 11  audio issues. Fine in timeline, but when rendering to iTunes or Media Browser, audio from certain portions of movie files are heard in places where it shouldn't be !
I have created a project where I have a montage of photos and video clips edited together with music under. Some audio portions of the video files are being muted in some areas and those portions are being heard in another part of the project. This is not for all video clips only certain ones.
The project plays fine in the timeline, but when I render the project thru iTunes or Media Browser, this is when the project goes corrupt.
I tried detaching the Audio from the video clips and this somewhat worked, but the original problem still exists with certain audio still being heard where it's not supposed to be.

    I have a fix - or rather, a workaround.
WARNING: It is lengthy, but still far better than starting a new project from scratch.
I had this same issue and none of my transitions/clips were at custom speeds, nor did I have anything else weird going on. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do within iMovie to fix this, at least there wasn't for me. iMovie is BY FAR the buggiest software I have ever used and if you haven't already spent hours slaving away on a project, you are so much better off using just about anything else to edit your video.
...But let's assume you have already spent many hours working on your project and you don't want to start all over. Well then, you have at least one option.
It's a pain in the neck, but it's infinitely better than restarting your project from scratch.
    This will require:
A software called Soundflower (which is free) and some kind of audio editing software (I use Logic, but really any should work).
1.) You're going to need to export your video with the messed up audio. Typically if you're audio is messing up, you're video is at least usually working just fine (at least it always does for me).
2.) You're going to need to open that video in your audio software and import only the audio. If your software doesn't give you this option, then you're going to need to record the audio from your video using the audio software and Soundflower. You can find tutorials on how to do this, but it's honestly pretty straightforward once you start playing around with you Mac's audio I/O settings. Remember to have your computer's volume all the way up when doing this.
3.) Watch/listen to your video and make notes of where the audio errors occur. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND writing down times too,  as they will be extremely helpful later.
4.) Now were going to rip some working audio from the iMovie project itself. Go back into your iMovie project and only play back audio while in the edit window for this step. Do NOT play your project back in full screen.
This part is key: if you try to play back your project from the beginning the audio will usually still mess up. So, what you're gonna have to do is go back on your edit window timeline right before these errors occur and play that specific clip back while recording this working audio with Soundflower and your audio software. Essentially we're only recording the parts of the audio where these errors occur, so try to do this in order if you can. Try to leave several seconds of audio in before the error - that way we can use it as reference when we construct our new audio track.
5.) Now in your audio software you should have your original error-filled audio track and the new clips that we just captured. This part can be painstaking if you're not familiar with audio editing softwares, but as you'll learn, it's really not that hard.
You're going to look at your original audio track and compare it to your new working audio clips. You should be able to notice where those new clips are supposed to go by looking at the identical (or close to identical) waveform shapes in your original audio track. The two should correspond with one another. If you don't understand what I mean right now, you will when you start playing around with the audio. This is why marking times is very important.
Take your new clips and split them up if you haven't already, that way you can drag them around and edit them separately from one another. Essentially your going to line these new clips up with original and then replace the original parts with new ones.
We need to get this as precise as possible, so start off by getting them as close as you can with your naked eye, and then use a zoom tool to zoom in as much as possible so that you can get them lined up PERFECTLY, or at least extremely close. In some softwares you can just drag these new clips on top of the old track, but most of the time you will need to actually cut out the old piece and replace it with the new one. In doing this, zoom in and make sure that you are NOT cutting out a bigger space than your new clip will fill - otherwise you will have small gaps in your audio.
VERY IMPORTANT: Also make sure that this new audio track starts at the EXACT SAME time as your original - otherwise your new audio will be out of sync.
I know this part can really suck if you're not used to audio editing, but at this point, there is little other choice.
6.) Once you are done with this, export your newly pieced together audio track.
7.) Now open iMovie and create a NEW project. Re-import the video that you exported earlier that has the messed up audio. This might take a while, so just be patient.
8.) Then right click the clip and select "Detach Audio". This will do just that - allowing you to edit the audio separately from the video. Now delete this audio.
9.) Now, import the new, perfect audio track that we just made and make sure that it starts at the start of the project. Make sure it's in sync and that everything works.
Now just export your new video with the working audio and you should be done. Since we have given iMovie the audio with no editing actually being done in iMovie, it does not have to generate its own audio now and you should have absolutely no errors now - unless there is some that you forgot to take out earlier.
    YOU'RE FINALLY DONE!!!
I know this entire process *****, but if you're that far into your project, there is little else that you can do. Now you've learned your lesson:
    DON'T USE IMOVIE EVER AGAIN.
    I hope this helped!

  • Cannot create multicamera sequence from "synced" Pluraleyes timeline.

I'm in PrPro 2014, and Pluraleyes 3.5. Opened pluraleyes, then imported the PP project, which has all 7 cameras plus audio in a sequence, and nothing else. Waveform analysis and sync proceeded properly in PE.
Exported a Premiere XML, which opened as a timeline in the Premiere project window. That sequence opens OK and allows me to make adjustments as needed.
Now I cannot for the life of me turn the "synced" timeline into a multicamera! The options do not appear in any pulldowns, nor does the option to nest the sequence.
Tried everything I can think of, must be missing something!
Many thanks for any help or suggestions.
    -Peter

Yes, pretty much.  It can do pretty much all that PPro/AE/Speedgrade can do.  Despite it not being widely used in the industry and considered an 'amateur' package it is a very complete video editing suite.  It can do things that PPro can't do.  I can crop and change the aspect ratio in Vegas.  So I can take still images that may be 3000x2000 pixels and crop to 16:9 very easily.  Can't find a way to do that in PPro. Crop, yes, but only based on percentage or by dragging the handles, but not altering the aspect ratio.  The only thing I can see to do in PPro is to alter the footage to a different pixel aspect ratio which, it appears, actually transforms/distorts the footage rather than just crop.  Not the same.  Not what I want.
There are audio controls in Vegas although there is another audio component (forget the name, I never used it) that works with Vegas.
Photoshop isn't a video editing package, it's a stills and graphics package.  Yes, it does have some basic video editing functionality but it can certainly be used in conjunction with Vegas from the standpoint of editing stills in PS then bringing them into Vegas to include in a video project or as a sequence for a timelapse.  But even PPro isn't fully synchronised with PS.  PPro can't, for example, 'read' XMP files created by Camera Raw (or Lightroom).  So I can't edit images in Camera Raw (or Lightroom), crop to a specific aspect ratio and have PPro read that metadata.  It simply brings the images in in the original, unedited format.  Which brings us back to the cropping issue in PPro.  At least I haven't found a way for PPro to read that metadata created by PS/LR.
EDIT:  What the.....?  My response to shooternz was edited by a moderator but his snide remark to me was not?  What the hell is that?

  • Nested sequence: after a cut, audio repeats from previous clip

Summary: In a nested sequence situation, I'm getting short audio repeats from a clip element just prior to a cut.
    Context:
Premiere Pro CC, latest version at time of writing (7.0.1 (105), under Windows 7 (64-bit).
Structure: I have a sync-sequence (multicam source sequence) consisting of XDCAM-EX (file structure broadly along the lines of AVCHD) and Z1 (plain m2t files).  Derived from / dependent on that is a multicam edit sequence, where I cut between camera angles.  Then that sequence is itself nested in a master sequence (showing selected extracts of the performance).
For reference purposes: Multicam edit sequence consists (among other things) of a rock band's "big finish" followed by some applause.  I made a cut in the audio part (only) of the nested sequence clip, to enable the audio for the applause to be normalized independently of the band performance.  To smooth the join I added a crossfade transition over the cut.  Nicer in principle than using volume envelopes.
When I play the original recording or the multicam sync-sequence or the multicam edit-sequence, all looks and sounds fine.
    Problem:
When the Master sequence is played back (in preview or an exported/encoded clip) I hear the big finish, then applause starts, then after 2 seconds the "big finish" is heard once again, but at lower audio level.
This effect happens wherever I have used the same cut/normalize/crossfade technique in the (nested) multicam edit sequence.  I have also encountered it in previous projects in Premiere CS6.
If I delete the crossfade then the problem disappears...  Doesn't matter what type of audio crossfade is used.
Is this a known problem? and is there a quick workaround? (other than using envelopes instead or copying/patching the audio up to the master level)

Ah so  [Sequence > Render Audio] is not just a "luxury item" to get waveforms to display when nested or to (presumably) to lower CPU load (e.g. when audio effects have been applied).  It's something that I will need to always do from now on...   It's a shame there's a "feature" but great to know of the workaround.
    Thank you very much.

  • Anyone having problems with art/animation/audio disappearing from the timeline after a save?

    Hello,
I'm having problems with many files losing their assets from the timeline after a save and reopening the file in Mac OS X Snow Leopard. This is happens quite often now and there seems to be no pattern to it. For example, I will open an existing Flash animation complete with sound and artwork, make changes to the animation timing, test the SWF and everything looks good, then save. After reopening the exact same file, there will be audio that was on the timeline will be an empty frame. In addition, there is art work that was swapped out or updated to a character and the symbols becomes empty after reopening. I'm losing days and hours of work and I can't seem to find any answers or help to figure out what's going on.
    Any insight would be appreciated!
    thanks!

I now use CS5.5 but I've noticed it on every version since CS4.
I JUST ran the latest update to 11.5.1.349
I'll let you know if it continues but for now I'm planning to learn a new software. Finally have some time to focus on this and if it works out I may say so long to Flash. I'll give CS6 a try but if it's not SIGNIFICANTLY improved (Brush tool comparable to ToonBoom, No losing data, Better Playback, Ability to export HTML5), it's just not worth it anymore. I've been using Flash since version 1 and since Adobe took it over, I hate to say that anything other than actionscript has gone WAY downhill. Many new features but they don't actually work well, or crash at runtime if used beyond a tutorial's level intensity. What's the point of all that functionality if it looks like garbage and can't perform on a professional level? Even if you do take the extra time to work slowly or limited to make it look nice - it loses the data! or now without HTML5 your venues of use are sliced in half? Pointless. I don't want to trash all my Flash experience, but I'm done defending an inferior product and waiting for it to catch up to a modern professional standard. I think my Flash days may be over very soon unfortunately. I feel like the're more interested in defending what they've created, than in making it work or even asking us what we want. I feel like a Girlfriend who's Man keeps promising to get steady work but hasn't after 10 years. Flash...we need to talk.

And cannot see the Video & Audio, as shown in the bottom right sub-window
I'm using a trial version of Premier pro CC downloaded yesterday. On my mac mini running 10.9.2
does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    thanks
    david
I am able to hear the audio.

    Hi,
Error 7 is when a router or the connection to the router is broken in some way.
Some devices have features such as Denial Of Service protection (DoS) that cut a particular Internet Port when it thinks too much data is coming (Presuming it is an attack.)
iChat 5 in Leopard is not capped by the System Preferences > Quicktime Streaming speed (which we used to suggest was set at 1.5Mbps)
It now sees your whole Connection speed and your Upload may be much faster than this.
Your Download is likely to be much faster. However iChat will tend to operate at the lower figure of your Upload.
    DoS features are threshold based.
You may now be bumping in to this Threshold where you were not before.
SPI (Stateful packet Inspection) does a different job but has the same effect when it is overloaded by the speed of the data.
If you have either of these features, turn them Off (Disable them)

You need to give a lot more information about the media specifications and the project properties you're using in the different projects.

  • Drag & drop audio clip from timeline to project window ?

i no longer can drag a clip from timeline to the project window & then breakout the clip to mono by selecting clip - audio options- breakout to mono - now when i drop an audio clip from timeline into the project window it does not show up anywhere in the project window - did an update get rid of this function ? it was much better than having to go back to the unedited original source & start from scratch ...

thanx for your time Jim - i understand that would be the preferred method but that was a quick fix until recently i have noticed that i can no longer do it by just grabbing the edited clip & drop it in project window so that i can modify just that portion of the original files properties - it still functions that way on a friends machine - was just kinda weird that i can't get it to work that way any more …

    Hi..
I am currently facing a problem in capturing audio which can be heard from the speakers.. i.e. i want to capture audio generated by other applications. Till now I have been successful in capturing audio from microphone using JMF and Java Sound too.. But I fail to understand what capture device should I use to capture internal sound i.e. sound generated by other applications.. pls. help me out regarding this.. Can DirectSoundCapture (capture device) be used to capture such sounds or can it just capture sounds from microphone..? Pls. help me soon.. Thanks in advance :)

  • Premiere elements 8 - Audio stops midway through timeline playback

Hi Everyone... I am editing together a series of mp4 shots with a separate mp3 audio soundtrack.  The audio from the vid shots is turned down or off and the music is on the soundtrack channel....
I am on an HP Notebook w/4 gb ram, windows-7 64bit, 320 gb hd,  2.64 ghz processor... I dont have many problems with the video, its slow occasionally, but generally has worked fine.
The audio was working fine for a while, then one time when i rendered down a rough version, i noticed the audio stopped mid way through the playback.  Before that, it was working fine.  So i went back into the editor and sure enough the audio was stopping mid way through there too.  I also noticed that the sound from the video shots continued to work fine, only the music would cut off.  since then, nothing i do restores the audio.
I've viewed the audio wave form, everything is there, it looks fine.
Any thoughts?  And thank you so much for any assistance!

Also note that the program must conform and create peak files for certain media files when you first add them to your project. (You can see the progress in the lower right corner of the interface.) If you interrupt this process and try to work with these files before they're completely conformed, they may only be partially conformed and you get only half the audio.
Try clearing the audio from your Project panel (from the right-click option) and then re-adding it to your project -- making sure to allow the program to completely conform the file before you start working with it.

  • Why can't see the timeline audio waveform on sequences inside another sequence in Premiere Pro CS6? Can I fix this?

Does anyone know why I can't see the timeline audio waveform on sequences inside another sequence in Premiere Pro CS6? Can I fix this?

    PERFECT!!! THANK YOU, Ann!!!

  • No audio during fast playback.

FCP stopped playing audio during fast playback. The audio plays fine while playback is at normal speed, but once I speed it up the playback is silent. Other people use this computer, so they might have changed a setting that I am unaware of. Help is appreciated.
