No Audio in AE CS5

I am inporting a AVCHD 1080p 30fps file into AE CS5 and I can not get the sound tracks to play/import, what am I doing wrong?

  • Can't get mic audio into PP CS5.5

I'm trying to get PP to record audio from a mic. Everything is registering input including studio audio monitors and the mac's internal audio meters are bouncing, but nothing is registering in PP. Here is the setup:
Shure SM58 xlr to dbx mic preamp xlr in. dbx xlr out to M-AUDIO Fast Track Pro xlr in.
Fast Track Pro connected to mac pro via USB (directly, no hub)
Studio Monitors are run off Fast Track Pro via 1/4 bal. lines.
Prem. Pro Prefs audio hardware is set to Fast track pro
Prem Pro audio mixer mic enabled on track two.
Everything is registering audio except Prem Pro. the meters are dead.
I was thinking about running unbalanced RCA Red/White audio out from the MA Fast Track Pro to the analog breakout cable inputs on the Mac Pro's internal Black Magic Intensity Pro card and seeing if that would work. Was thinking it had something to do with the Fast Track Pro being connected by USB.
Final Cut Pro 7 registers the mic audio, but it's been End-of-Lifed, so don't want to use it anymore for any new post.
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hey J,
I was wondering what your solution was? I actually just posted a new discusion on the forum about my issue, here it is.
    "Hello,
I have been searching for answer for a while and have found none. My Microsoft LifeChat lx-3000 will not work with premiere pro. It does work on the mac, and in Final cut..but final cut is terrible and I would like to record in premier.
    Things I have done:
    1. gone to premier pro>preferences>audio hardwear
         - In this menu I selected the "Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000" as my default device
         - in the Audio mixer I changed "Audio 3" to "Touch" hit the Microphone button and nothing happened, when I switch the input to "built in" premier recognizes the built in mic and allows me to record using this...but that one sound really bad.
    2. I also went to Utilities>Audio Midi Setup
         - here I selected Premeir Pro cs5 and checked the box next to the "Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000" to indicate that Premier would use this device.
         - still does not work, and every time I open the Audio Midi Setup the box next to "microsoft LifeChat LX-3000" is unchecked....not sure why it wont save.
I am at a lose, if anyone has any suggestions or has dealt with this problem i am all ears...if this has already been covered in another thread, point me in the direction!
    Thanks for your time everyone!!"
    Thanks,
    Willis

  • Some audio missing in CS5

    Hi everyone,
I recenrtly upgraded from CS4, and am now using a full, paid version of CS5. (Windows 7 x64).
Using Premiere CS5, I opened a CS4 project file, and everything seemed to update smoothly.  However, I quickly discovered that some of my audio was missing. The missing audio comes from an mpeg file.  Mind you, the video comes through fine, but the audio is gone, not only in the timeline, but even if I open the file in the source monitor.  In fact, according to Premiere, there are no waveforms associated with the clip.  However, if I directly open the file in Windows Media Player, the audio plays back fine.
    Now it gets wierder.
Other audio is working fine.  I have a handful of short mpeg clips, in which both audio and video come through just fine.
However, my primary mpeg clip, which is quite long, is not coming through with audio.
    Any tips on this one?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hi,
I had a similar problem with CS3 and m2V files. I believe that I just added the ad2ac3dec.dll to the Premier folder copying it from the Encore folder per www.slashcam.com/EN/info/Premiere-CS3--No-audio-on-some-imports-MPEG-258091.html .
    Hope this helps!

  • Audio files Indesign cs5

Hi I was wondering if I could have a a few audio files that a button randomly called upon in Indesign CS5?
    thanks

Presumably you mean after export to PDF or SWF. I don't know about SWF, but I'd bet you could build a button in Acrobat that would trigger a script to play a random audio file.

  • .mov files no longer reading Audio in AE CS5

I just upgraded my computer (Vista 64) from Adobe Production Premium CS4 to Adobe Master Collection CS5.
QuickTime has been updated to the latest version, 7.6.6.
In AE, all imported .mov files will show the video just fine, but I can hear no audio.   The speaker icon will show up in the timeline, but if I view the Waveform, I now get two flat lines.   It is as if the Audio was -48.00 dB, but it is set to 0.00. I have even tried to push it up to +12.00 dB, but the Waveform displays only the flat lines.
I have attempted to create a new project and import other .mov files of all sorts, and the same thing occurs - silence during RAM Previews (Audio enabled) and exporting movies (Audio enabled as well).
To prove all is enabled as said, all .aif and .mp3 files are working just fine.  As are .mp4 files with their video.
The issue is really only with .mov files.   Any help is greatly appreciated!

These .mov files are Quicktime Reference Files from AVID Media Composer.   I've been using this
method for years without issues.   I may know what you're going to say - Re-export the
.mov files using a different method.
The .aif files are now acting up as well (from AVID).  As I  scroll the timeline left to right, the Waveforms will litterally  disappear, and my audio will go out of sync.  I can't find any rhyme or  reason to it.
Unfortunately, within the time frame I have, I can't go back and re-do all of these files.  Plus I don't care for the idea that I have to change my routine to suit Adobe's potential flaw in the programing.

  • No audio output for CS5 even with Audio Output box checked

Ever since about a year or so, My CS5 has been unable to render any projects with audio outputs, regardless of the audio format. I had checked the Audio Output box in the Output Module setting every time.Still no audio. Now I have to export the project to Premiere to output it. In my current project, my audio is a MP3 music file. Same result. Should I convert the audio into certain formats first?

Just speaking from experience on my own systems, irrespective of software used, I have found that despite being able to play both 44100 khz and 48000 khz my Blackmagic based systems have sometimes had issues with mute audio On one of the settings but fine on the other. If you start with an accepted preset and work from there it might be best.
Are you sure the audio track(s) is turned on in the timeline? I know it is ridiculous but we can all develop silly habits and keep on making the same mistakes over and over when we try to make things work, then add some more mistakes for good measure having forgotten to return settings to their previous state.
Also, I would not assume you are dealing with one error only, sorry. :-)

  • Split track audio in Premiere CS5

    Greetings all,
I'm getting acclimated to working in Premiere CS5 after years of editing on Avid Media Composer and Symphony.  There are of course similarities and differences, some of which I can figure my way through and others where I'll need to ask for help.  Here's one.
Suppose I have a piece of video that was shot split-track.  On channel 1 we have the lavaliere mic worn by an interview subject.  On channel 2 we have the on-camera mic so while searching I can hear the interviewer's questions which aren't so audible in the interviewee's mic.  In the final edit I wish to discard channel 2 and center-pan channel 1.  On an Avid the audio channels are on separate tracks on the timeline - you can literally remove the channel 1 or channel 2 audio clip and then use a pan tool to take the remaining audio clip and pan it as desired (typically center-pan is what you want with an interviewee but in fact you have infinite choices between full-left and full-right).
How do we approach this issue in Premiere?  I'm sure this has been addressed before but after a lot of searching I guess I don't know the correct search terms to find it.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
    Peter

    Thanks Colin (and Jim).
It's amazing how wedded one becomes to a particular way of working, and how unusual it feels (after nearly 20 years) to start using a different platform.
For anyone who has NOT used Avid (the Meridian and pre-Meridian versions, anyway): imported materials are literally split up into components and stored/handled separately; thus, video ends up in a video file and each audio track ends up in a separate mono .wav or .aiff file, so when they're brought into a sequence they are quite literally individual and totally independent tracks.  One major disadvantage of that generation of Avid is that materials need to be imported and reprocessed into Avid media; they don't come in natively.  Newer generations of Avid (I believe) have improved this.
Premiere's handling of native clips, where stereo audio is just that instead of individual and independent tracks, is an alien concept that takes getting used to.  Modifying the clip to treat audio channels as "mono" is exactly what I was looking for.  The "fill left" and "fill right" effects, while they would work, seem a little bit more limiting.
Thanks, incidentally, for not saying "RTFM."  I have the download of CS5 and there ISN'T a FM nor can I find pdf FMs as an additional download anywhere.  So I'm stuck with tutorials (none of which seem to cover this) and the help files (which don't cover this unless you already know the name of the function).  My oh my do I miss software suites with complete read-'em-in-the-tub printed manuals!
    Thanks again,
    Pete

  • Audio Suite error CS5

1.- Flash CS5 delete audio files when I save in CS4.
2.- I can not import audio. mp3 (and check the audio properties).
3.- The audio is out of sync even though it has stream property.
And uninstalled and then reinstalled and the problem persists, should, it's codecs, updates??? (I have them all). This happens to me at least 4 machines with Windows Vista. Normally I work in AS2 and the public in Player 8. But the same thing happens when I publish in Player 10.
CS5 to CS4 fails to audio issues.

Presumably you mean after export to PDF or SWF. I don't know about SWF, but I'd bet you could build a button in Acrobat that would trigger a script to play a random audio file.

  • Echo on playback of audio track using CS5

I am using premiere pro CS5 for editing Mini DV footage captured via a JVC BR-DV3000 VCR and all works as I expected.
I have recently been trying to capture analogue material using a Panasonic VHS player connected via conventional audio/video (red and white plugs and Y/C S 5 pin) to the above MiniDV VCR and then connected to my PC via Firewire.
All looked to be working as expected until I tried to play back the footage from the Premiere timeline.  Pictures were fine but the audio was full of loud echo's.  I have listened to the sound both through my mixer and audio speaker set up and also directly through headphones plugged into the computer and both display the same echo features.
My PC is Windows 7 (64bit), loads of memory and processing power and a NVidia GeForce GTX 245  Everything else seem to work OK.
Has anybody any ideas  on what is cuaing this and how I hcan overcome the problen please.

Thanks Jim for the suggestion. Unforunately this is not the problem as I have already played back this tape on a number of VCR's and it always plays OK.  I have also edited this tape before, using Premiere Pro 1.5.1 which was of course an analogue system and Premiere Pro 1.5.1 coped with it OK.  I no longer have Premiere Pro 1.5.1 and have no longer got the edited version which is why I want to re-edit and burn to DVD. Thanks for the response, it could well have been the problem.  Any other suggestions or things to check would be greatly appreciated.

  • M2ts File Audio Editing Problems (CS5.5)

I am relatively new to CS5.5 and more than bit puzzled at not being able to highlight the 5.1 audio track of m2ts files in order to carry out any audio correction (such as Parametric EQ).  It is also not possible to cary out J & L cuts either, for the same reason.
I have had no problems doing this with AVI files, but have noted a post dated 2009 (which I assume applied to CS4), where no editing could be performed on m2ts files, unless they were demuxed first, as only the AC3 sream couild be edited.
Can anyone suggest what I am overlooking?  Even the basic Pinnacle Studio 15 can edit m2ts audio and I find it hard to believe that it is still neccessary to demux these files for CS5.5..

That worked perfectly OK, as long as I dropped the audio into an unused 5.1 track. If I dropped it into Track 1, where everthing els is, it locked up as before.
However, this  lead me to the solution: It appears that some sort of bug occured when I used 'Automate to Sequence' to populate the timeline, as the entire 5.1 audio Track 1 in the project is corrupted.
Restarting afresh with a new project cleared the problem.
I suppose it is 'Sods Law' that this had to happen  the very first time I have tried editing m2ts media!!

  • Keeping 5.1 audio from PPro CS5 to AE CS5 via dynamic link?

    Hi,
I have a project edited in PPro CS5 with 5.1 audio which is showing and working correctly.
However when I use dynamic link to open up PPro sequence in AE CS5 to do my online editing it seems to be importing it as 2 CH Stereo. So when I use Adobe Media Encoder CS5 to render out final online/edited video from AE i can only get it to wok with audio settings set to Stereo.
If I try to select 5.1, this is the error I get...
    - Source File: K:\Video Projects\Laurel Creek\Laurel Creek.aep
    - Output File: K:\Video Projects\Laurel Creek\Laurel Creek_FinalConcept5_h.mp4
    - Preset Used: Custom
    - Video: NTSC, 1920x1080, 59.94 fps, Progressive
    - Audio: AAC, 384 kbps, 48 kHz, 5.1 Channels
    - Bitrate: CBR, 26.00 Mbps
    - Encoding Time: 00:00:00
    27/03/2012 2:34:32 PM : Encoding Failed
The source and output audio channels are not compatible or a conversion does not exist.
Any ideas how to get AE to see the source 5.1 audio which is originally in PPro sequence so Media Encoder will render out a 5.1 file?
If I change my above custom preset to 2 CH Stereo, the render works, no errors, and video/audio plays fine (which makes sense as AE file is 2 Ch Stereo). But I am looking to keep the source 5.1 audio that my camera records in.
    Thanks.

Yup, I've got a new lossless recommendation: Quicktime's PNG codec.  It's 10-bit, supports alpha channels, and generally has smaller file sizes than Animation.
If you also have FCP 7 on your machine, you could also give ProRes 422 a whirl.  Good codec.  Not lossless, but you have to re-render something six times over before you see any kind of image degradation... and for the file size, that's approaching the realm of the magical.

  • How can I export m2ts footage with 5.1 audio in PP CS5.5?

    Dear All!
I have a 90 minutes project which made from 4 sequence. Sequence settings are the followings : AVCHD 1080p 25fps square pixels , 5.1 channel master audio.
I made the sequences from avchd file-s, which recorded with Sony HDR-CX700V with AVCHD 1080p 25fps and Dolby digital 5.1 sound.
Right now I finished the project with lots of effects and imported After effects compositions, and I cannot find any setting to create 5.1 sound.
I have Mainconcept codec suite, but this offer m2ts 1440*1080i settings only.( And I cannot configure the mainconcept codec settings.)
Do you have any idea how can I export the project without any degradation, and with 5.1 audio? The original footages recorded with this properties : H264/AVC - top field first - 22.000 Mbit/sec.
    And I use in the project some 720p H264/AVC - progressive - 8.001 Mbit/sec videos.
    Please help! Thanks a lot.

You have to consider a couple of things. Mixing 1080 and 720 material is best done in a 720 sequence, because uprezzing will seriously deteriorate quality, unless you accept black borders. That also means exporting a 720 format as maximum, unless again you accept serious quality loss. Whatever the resolution you choose, exporting AVCHD material to anything else than uncompressed, Lagarith or UT will entail a generation loss and thus quality loss. The best export settings are dependent on your delivery medium. DVD, BD or web.
Since you are working in a 1080 sequence, the quality loss of uprezzed 720 material is not a big issue, apparently, so what is the relevancy of 'the same quality' on export when you have already compromised quality?

  • Audio selection in Cs5.5 Encore auto plays rather then just changes audio track

I am an Encore newbie after moving from DVD SP to Encore for blu ray menu authoring. Ive read and re-read the help files and they seem to be the same for Encore versions going back to at least cs3 for this issue ... so i must be doing something wrong or Encore just cannot do a very basic thing...
I am building a blu-ray with a singel video track and 2 audio tracks. I am trying to link a menu to allow a user to select a 5.1 or 2ch version of audio for a feature film. All shoudl be straightforward. i have a menu with several buttons. Each button links to an audio track in my timeline.
However, when i test my links, instead of just changing the audio and returning to the menu (as per the instructions in the help files ), the film plays from the beginning.
The correct audio track is played, but that is not my intention at that point. I want the user to choose the audio track and then allow the user to press another play button or go to another menu and back again before the film starts.
So how do i just change the audio track but not play it there and then ?
The help says use 'specify link' so i choose that option and select the timeline, yes, select the audio track 1 or 2, yes. But there is no different way to do this if i actually wanted to play the track at that time as well. What is the fundemental bit i am missing here ? Something to do with button type or some werid overide setting i am missing ? Can Encore actually do this ? its rather frustrating having come from using DVD SP which allows you to script everything and set gprm/sprm registers, to a program that does not seem to allow you to do anything beyond very very basic authoring.
Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

To return to menu after changing the audio or any subtitle track, you should select the desired menu in the Specify Link option and change the audio and subtitle accordingly.
In the example above, what I have done is, I went to the Specify Link, chose the menu as the target and also changed the audio track there and clicked OK
So here, after pressing Button 3 (Item 3), I would return to the menu and my aduio would be reset to audio track 2.
After that, whatever timeline I play, that would be played with audio track 2.
That is just a small example to show how it is done. Set the navigation as you like.

Saludos

    Thanks for your reply.
I have 6 timelines. The total program length, as shown in the build tab, is about 3GB used. And it's a DVD project, not BD.
I use MP3 files and I can see the audio keeps conforming from the Progress tab. There's a Stop button, but it's grayed out, so I can't stop it. The setting I am using to transcode is a3c as you mentioned.
The funny thing is that I even deleted the project's audio files from the timelines and Project Assets as well. At this point the audio files don't even exist in my project, and yet the Progress tab shows the audio keeps conforming and my hard drive keeps being swallowed by this monster. That's driving me Nuts!
Originally, and of course, the audio was Untranscoded. I performed the transcoding and yes, PSD images are brought directly as asssets into Encore. I probably should have done this from Premiere, but a) I have never used Premiere, and b) I was just learning how to use Encore by watching some video tutorials.
The thing is that my project was complete and everything was set, including audio conforming. I even outputed a disk image, which I then burned into a DVD. At the time I did this my project was still somewhat small as I just wanted to test the whole process with just a few files. The thing is that at this point I didn't realize what was happening in the background with my hard drive's free space until I later got a Windows warning message of low disk space. And that's when the saga began for me.
Once again, thanks for your help.

  • How do I shift clips and audio and adjust audio levels in CS5.5

    OK, a couple of things.
I'm trying to shift everything over (this includes videos, some name supers, and unlinked audio) so I can insert some music here and there. I can drag the music on to Audio 2 or something, but I still want to scoot everything else over a couple of seconds. Is there an easier way to do this?
Secondly, I want to adjust the audio levels on the music. SO I want it to start off soft, grow louder, then back down until you don't even notice it. How would I do this? Thanks.

For the Nudging of multiple Assets, have you tried Selecting them all, and then using the Cursor Keys (arrows) to Nudge, one Frame at a time?
For the ramping up/down of the Audio Volumes, there are several ways to do that. Keyframing the Fixed Effect>Volume (in the Effects Control Panel) will allow one to adjust the Volume up/down over time. If you have never done Keyframing, then I would start with the Help File, as there are a lot of things to learn. Once, however, you have concepts and mechanics down, Keyframes are easy, and so very powerful. This article discusses several ways to adjust Volume/Gain, and might be useful: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3472343#3472343
