2)when i go to render it keeps rendering and when i go to click the render button again for sound it just stops and nothing happens
3)my audio panel on the right with the volume meters seems to be frozen/not switched on?

Getting started with After Effects
That's the best resource I know of for beginners in AE. The resources cover audio previews and LOTS of other things that'll bite your butt if you don't know them.
For testing purposes, try transcoding your file to WAV before you import it to AE to eliminate any possible issues.
Then:
1. Where are you looking for "wave lengths" after dragging in your song? If you put your song in a composition, select the audio layer, and press LL on your keyboard, do you see waveforms then?
2. What, exact, steps are you taking here? Where are you going to render? What buttons are you pressing?
3. Screenshot please
4. No. Use WAV files - at least for troubleshooting purposes.

  • Exporting layers of audio from After Effects  cs6 to Premiere / or Audition? Is this possible?

exporting layers of audio from After Effects  cs6 to Premiere / or Audition? Is this possible?
Help - I have an After effects project with multiple layered files and want to copy these to Premiere / Audition. For example I know if you select multiple video files from After Effects these can be pasted straight into Premiere intact - but this does not work with audio. I want to take existing layered audio files from After Effects to Audition / or Premiere but can't copy and paste - is there a simple solution for this?

Hi thanks Dave for responding - yes that could work as a 'workaround' -  I was hoping there would be a way I can keep the existing independent audio layers and corresponding audio levels from After Effects- in the same way I can copy and paste video files from After Effects to Premiere - rather than exporting a flattened AIFF /WAV from After Effects.
This would then allow me a lot more control working on the final edit - especially as currently a lot of the audio layers overlap. It does seem there is no simple solution for this, so  otherwise I can do what you suggest - and 'stagger all the audio files' in sequence so they do not overlap on the timeline and then when I import the flattened exported AIFF file into Audition/ Premeire / I then can cut it up again and recreate the overlaps. Was hoping there might be a simple copy + paste method or other 'export method' but I guess this is simply not possible. It would save me about 7 hours of work, but not the end of the world I guess
One final point - some of the audio clips are .mp3s but the majority are WAVS, hopefully this should not create any issues on the export.
thanks again for your help, if you or anyone has any other solution pls let me know
    Best

  • Warning "RAM Preview needs 2 or more frames" after scrubbing audio in After Effects CC 2014 (13.0)

The After Effects team are investigating a bug in After Effects CC 2104 (13.0) where a memory leak occurs while scrubbing audio (holding down the CTRL or Command key while scrubbing). This memory leak can eventually consume all free RAM, which can lead to the warning message "After Effects error: RAM Preview needs 2 or more frames to playback" when you try to initiate a RAM preview.
While we investigate this problem, you can avoid the bug and memory leak by not scrubbing with audio. When the problem occurs you can resolve it by closing and restarting After Effects.

Hi all, just wanted to say, I am currently working on an award show for TV and have been scrubbing audio in AE CC 2014 13.0.2.3 without issue. Why am I not having the memory leak problem?
Would like to help if I can.

  • How to bring Cinema 4D Lite audio into After Effects?

    Hi--
This is probably quite basic. I have a C4D Lite project with an audio file placed into a null in the timeline--and in the object manager I added an external compositing tag to the null object.
In After Effects I have extracted the scene data--and the audio track shows up in the timeline--however, it is not actually audio in After Effects--it looks like a graphic layer and no audio plays in After Effects.
How do I get the audio from C4D Lite to come across to After Effects and play there?
    Thanks,
    Tony

Simply import the audio directly into AE. You are making this way too complicated.

  • No Audio In After Effects CS5.5(Even after rendering)

I currently have the After Effects CS5.5 Trial Version installed. I am running into a bad audio problem. For the first 2 days I have used it, the audio was fine, it played automatically and I didn't even have to render first to get it. Then, the third day, I got on that day and the audio jsut flat out didnt work. I did look it up on the forums and google, and nothing helped. I have tried rendering(with audio), using different video files and clips, and even reinstaling the trial. Nothing worked. The RAM Preview plays sound fine, and when I double-tap "L", the soundwaves do show, and they are accurate when played on the preview. I have tried WMV, AVI, and mp4 files, none of which have worked. I can edit and add effects and import picture and other files fine, but the audio simply doesnt work. I can't get audio by playing it normally.
I know it is not usual to ask questions about the trial, or to even have them answered, but this is important because I want to buy After Effects CS5.5, and before I do, I need to know if this is a computer problem, or if I did something to mess up the program, or if there is even a way to solve it. I don't want to buy it and realize I can't even use it with audio for some reason.
P.S. I am fairly new to this, so if you blast me with some complex, in-depth instructions, please try to make it rather simple, or just explain it well.
Thank You and sorry for the inconvenience,
    Chris Madaras

    >  I can't get audio by playing it normally.
You said that audio played when you used RAM preview. That is how you play audio.
    See this:
"FAQ: How can I play or preview sound (audio)?"
    ...and this:
"FAQ: Why is there no audio (sound) in my output file?"
Since you're new to After Effects, I very strongly recommend that you work your way through the materials here:

  • Exporting to OMF for audio and After effect + delay in performance question

    Hello
    I have two questions.
First I have a problem with performance of FCP 5 I'm using a 500 GB firewire 800 external drive (not . Every time I hit the play button there is a delay of 2 seconds before playing my sequence I'm not sure why this is happening, I have a very basic sequence with one layer.
Second question - I'm trying to make FCP popular in my country but it is very hard since we work with OMF both in Protools and in After Effects. In Avid we exported media embedded OMF and also with audio. I know that there is an option to export OMF with audio but Protools has a hard time opening it. As for Video there is no choice, what can we do?
    Thank you

    Anyone?

  • AVCHD (MTS/M2TS) No Audio in After Effects CS6

    Hi,
I am trying to edit a lot of footage, which are .MTS files. When I import them into After Effects CS6, there is no Audio, even in Premiere. I cannot convert the footage, as it will take too long because there is over 250 clips.
    Thanks!
    Specs:
    iMac Mid 2011
    Intel core i5 2.5GHz
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB
    12gb Ram
    OSX 10.7.5
    Adobe After Effects CS6

    Hi RaffM8,
Ran into this problem with a friends video footage.
As you are on a mac you need to decompress these files first and then bring them into AE / Premiere.
Excellent article here on what to do and how to do it.
    http://blogs.lsa.umich.edu/issmediacenter/2012/10/15/converting-mts-files-for-macs/
You may need to purchase a program like Clipwrap or you can use Handbrake for free.
The article above explains how to do this for Handbrake.
I know you say you can't convert as it will take too long, but I tried all sorts of work arounds and I couldn't get the audio to work until I converted the files.
Sorry I know this is a pain and not what you wanted to hear, but I tore my hair out trying to get the audio to work and converting the files was the only thing that worked for me. I genuinely hope that someone else has a better solution than mine and that it's an easy fix.
    Hope this helps.

  • Audio in After Effects 8 CS3

when you want to play the clip back, how do you make it so its like a regular editing software where you can mess around with the audio as well? or do you need to do it in like premiere pro or something?

    Antinet wrote:
AE is also ruined by some inane stupidity, like non-obvious audio controls. I have to RAM preview this thing everytime? Why doesnt it stay rendered? Why is fifteen seconds of a composition too much for this program to handle with its audio just sitting there. WHy do I have to press 0 on the numberpad and then space bar to preview audio and video together when that is so basic to editing? Who is responsible for this abomination....?
First of all, if you want longer ram previews you just need more ram, or you can lower the preview quality to quarter. You can also ask the preview to skip some frames so you'll get even longer preview.
By reduce from full res to half res, you will have 4 times longer previews, and 16 times longer preview if you are on quarter resolution.
Previewing with 0 on the keypad will preview Sound and Video, so no need to use the spacebar.
AE is not an NLE, and is clearly not optimised to do editing. AE is a post production tools and it has been designed to produce higher quality render over faster/longer previewing. That's why you cannot preview as in Premier Pro, Vegas of Final Cut. For each frame, AE decompress the full uncompressed version in ram, then apply all the effects and then render it with other layers according to your comp settings, whereas NLE will use optimised routines to preview video and won't uncompress everyframe like AE.

  • How can I render audio in After Effects CS6 without it stopping in :30 seconds?

I imported my files from Premiere Pro CS6. I rendered in Premiere Pro prior to importing it to AE.

I don't know anything about your project but I'm assuming that you mean audio only previews. The time for an audio only preview is set by going to Preferences>Preview and changing the time.
A Ram preview is limited to the amount of available ram, but an audio only preview is limited by a set value. I have mine set to one minute.

  • Lost audio from after effects to FCP

I am exporting movies as quick time and going from AE to FCP. In the first two clips I had no issues at all. The second two clips I totally lost my audio. All the clips are from the same footage...same file size etc...why would that happen?

    Same export module too?
By default, the "loseless" and the "loseless with alpha" export modules in AE does not export audio... you have to costomise the module and be sure that "export audio" is on...

  • Why doesn't my video have audio in After Effects?

    ?

You're using video downloaded from a web site or shot on a consumer camera, and the audio's embedded in the video track.  Theat's the most likely situation.  AE needs a separate audio track.  You'll have to transcode it.

  • After Effects 6.5 & 7 crashes when I import audio...

    hey guyz,
    help me...
i'm havin a prob.. When i import mp3/audio in after effects 6.5 & 7...d software crashes and the error msg is here :
" After Effects can't continue: sorry, After Effects has crashed. See www.adobe.com/support/products/aftereffects.html for known issues. If you still can't resolve the issue, please contact Adobe Technical Support (2). (0::42)"
plzzz reply & tell me solution

Most importantly: what is the source of the MP§ file and its internal structure? Is it copyrighted? Is it surround/ multichannel? Is it a captured web radio stream? Is it from an online store? Does it use variable bit rates? There's a number of things that could be the reason... That aside, Andrew is right: convert the file to a wave file e.g. using Winamp's disk writer module. Even if you could import the MP3 directly into AE, there's always the chance it may sound garbage, due to to way how AE handles such compressed audio, especially in versions prior to CS3.

  • Dynamic Link After Effects to Premiere (Video Only, No Audio)?

Can you Dynamic link an After Effects file so that audio does not interleave into the premiere pro project?   I just want to link the video part of the comp and do not want audio data in my asset.
*I already know that I can double click the asset in premiere and drag video only from there.   I want to strip audio from the after effects linked asset so when i drag the asset from the bin to the timeline it will not try to add audio also.
    Thanks,
    Cliff

If you unlink the audio and video in Premiere Pro
Then you select only the video layer to replace with After Effects Composition
You'll end up with the Audio automatically turned off in AE when the dynamic link composition is created.
You get the same result if you leave the audio layer linked but you lock it before enabling the dynamic link.
The advantage to doing this is that you don't have to mess with audio in After Effects. There is no additional disadvantage to locking or unlinking the audio track because any time you replace elements in PPro with AE compositions the Audio and Video are unlinked. You'll need to re-link them if you plan move the tracks around at all because you loose the out of sync warnings that you'll normally get.

  • After effects cc - Mp3 and wav file

I am having a problem with audio in after effects cc. I have added an mp3 audio file (narration) which works and sounds fine, however as i add another track (the music) and press ram preview an audio errors occurs on the new track.
I have tried changing between wav and mp3 formats however i am still getting the same problems.
    1. The audio jumps
    2. The audio seems scrambled, parts of the track play when they shouldn't (for instance when the introduction should be playing the 1st verse plays instead)
I am using - 64bit windows home premium,
What is causing this and how do i fix it?
    thanks

You have an issue with your audio hardware and AE is unable to get it to play and mix multiple audio streams in realtime. Update the driver, configure it properly. Otherwise apply a dummy audio effect to the layers to enforce rendering to memory instead of realtime playback.

  • Using RAM preview on a shorter period (after effects)

    Hey there Ae users!
I'm trying to make a lyrical video with after effects, but to hear to vocals of my song i have to listen to it so i can place the words on the right time.
But now i'm using RAM preview to listen to it, but it works really inefficiently... Can anyone tell me a better solution to have the music right when i play the 'play button',
instead of having to listen the whole song before continuing on a guess?
Hopefully you guys can help me!
    ~Cas

The best way to do what you are trying to do is to open up Premiere Pro and do speech recognition on the audio track then import the audio into After Effects and you'll have labeled markers for every word exactly in the right place. If you create a transcript of the words then your speech recognition will be perfect. I work this way all the time.
Improving Speech Analysis with a Text File | Peachpit TV for Video | Adobe TV
The alternative to that is to press the . key to run an audio preview and then use the * key on the numeric keypad to set markers on the audio track.
