No Audio in Export/Preview

I don't recall ever running into this problem before in CS3, so I'm not sure it's CS4-specific.  Basically, a composition I'm working on has no sound when previewed or exported.  When I open the wav view of the file in AE, it shows only a flat line (silence).
Other clips I import (MPG) have the same issue.
The only way I've found around this so far is to clear cache, import it into Premiere first, then import to AE (same file).
Basically, it seems like AE is not conforming the audio from the files properly.  If I import it into Premiere first, Premiere conforms and saves the files to cache, which AE then uses.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

No doubt, as Mylenium has explained, there is some underlying reason for the MPEG failure in your current job.  There are many variables to be considered if you're determined to resolve it.  But the reason for my earlier point remains:  multiplexed MPEG files simply aren't designed for use in editing and compositing applications.  Adobe provides rudimentary support for such files, but it is fraught with problems, some of which you are experiencing now.
My personal workflow is to convert ALL delivery-format files (mpeg, mpeg2, mp4, divx, xvid, wmv etc) to an appropriate format before use in an editing or compositing application, because it eliminates the likelihood of such issues.

  • Problems with audio when exporting to movies

    Hi All,
I teach sequencing and one of the projects is to score a short piece of music to film.  Logic Pro 9 is great for this (though beat mapping isn't the most friendly of functions) and my students (most only 16-18 years old) have made some great projects.
Right the question is what are the best settings to use when exporting the audio to movie?  Some students don't get any sound when bounced or some are getting the oprginal with the new audio (doubled).
To assess and store student work we use vimeo for video projects and the wierdest thing is that when uploaded these bounces (the ones that worked) have no sound at all.
Never had these issues with Logic 8 and just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I can resolve this?
    Thanks and happy new year.

I've used flip4mac for about a year and have had no problems with it. I mostly use it to export preview versions for windoze people. The quality is very good, though it takes significantly longer to export than a similar-quality quicktime movie.

  • No more audio or video preview in column view?

weird one... on my powerbook (g4) i suddenly have no ability to play/preview audio or video file in column view in the finder. works fine on my desktop machine with the same os and such...? highlighting a file just gives its name and dates and such, no ability to preview.
using 10.4.8 and QT 7.1.3. tried updating prebinding (and other normal quickfixes). think i might need to reinstall quicktime?

well, yes i tried all the basic quick fixes. (plus diskwarrior and applejack, etc.)
i thought i might find it in some of the preferences of finder or quicktime but no go.
the weirder thing is that if you highlight an audio or video file in the column view, while it gives no audio or video preview, if you click on the "get more info" button (or command-i) there will be the audio or video preview.

  • Only Audio Is Exporting to Tape????

    Hi
I am trying to export a sequence to a minidv tape on FCP, using my dvx100a as a deck. I've been able to do this before...only this time, only the audio is exporting to the tape, and the video shows up as just black. When I stop the exporting process, the frame which I exit on shows up on the camera's viewfinder but is not recorded.
Any suggestions on how I can get both video and audio to export to the tape?
    Thanks in advance!

Neither of theses suggestions solved my problem...
...maybe somebody could tell me what my ideal A/V Setting should be if i am trying to a simple print to video with a miniDV camera (firewire)...and why only black shows up for video?
the best ive gotten so far is being able to play the video on the timeline and have it show up on the camera...i can hear the audio, but on the camera screen, all that shows up is the 1st frame and it holds as the audio plays.
    What is going on!?!?
    im really stuck
    Thanks!

  • Help needed: audio missing - export to html & pdf

audio missing - export to html & pdf
both soundtrack and audio on specific pages play fine as slideshow and as export Quicktime.
exports to html & pdf are missing audio entirely.
the audio assets are not in the html folder.
i am not doing anything complicated, one .tiff image per page, approx 12mg apiece.
one soundtrack and one additional page specific audio track.
box checked for saving audio files in preferences and while 'saving'.
tried triggering with 'begin audio' builds.
tried different approved formats for audio.
tried different themes. at default settings.
i am out of ideas. any suggestions?
    much appreciated.

Sound files are not included in html or pdf exports. There is no way to make it happen. If you need the sound you can export as Quicktime.

  • Premiere Pro dropped audio after export, AME no audio

Similar problem in both premiere & AME - clips are exporting with video but no audio.
When queueing up jobs in AME, they'll finish with no Audio & now even exporting directly from the timeline in Premiere Pro CC 2014.2 (just updated 2014-12-14) our clips still have no audio.
All clips have conformed on the timeline before beginning export.
This is happening despite trying these various solutions... re-installing Premiere, starting a new project, choosing a new Scratch Disk with 3 TB of available hard drive space... also our operating system is a 2014 3.5 GHz i7 32GB RAM iMac, running Mavericks with a 256 GB Flash Hard Drive, so RAM or HD speed should not be an issue?
Any advice or a solution would be greatly appreciated.  We export dozens of jobs a day and cannot find a reason why this Adobe Premiere Pro & AME Software is not working correctly & giving us dropped audio upon export - very frustrating, thanks for the help...

I have 2 macs, screenshot with identical export setting was from 2nd mac. if you can repro now here is a 2014.2 screenshot & same export settings on the 2014.2 mac; issue occurs on both computers thanks - also this timeline, before export I had audio on all tracks.  Here is a screenshot of the timeline post export; all of the audio is gone?  It was there at time of export

  • Cat't Export or Export Preview Without Xcelsius Crashing

I have an XLF file that I spent 2 days re-working for Xcelsius 2008 SP1.  Everything works now in preview mode but if I try to Export or Export Preview, Xcelsius crashes with the message  "Xcelsius.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience".
This happens even after a fresh reboot.
I am able to export or export preview other XLF files.
What can I try now in order to try to diagnose this problem, and save all time that has gone into getting to this point?
    Gary

    Hi Gary,
It seems that the xls file specified under Export settings is not found, and the application does not handle it properly. I filed a bug report. Specifying existing file under "Export Settings" or choosing "Use current data" option seems to fix the problem - at least for me.

  • Audio wont export to Flash 8/  Wont publish in Captivate

    Hello,
I am trying to export my captivate project to Flash 8 with
audio backgrounds and clips for narration. For some reason, the
audio is not importing. Can somebody PLEASE help?
The reason I am exporting to Flash 8 is that Captivate hangs
when I'm trying to publish. There is a lot of full motion in this
CP file. I thought it was just being slow, so I let it sit
overnight and it was still not published..Any ideas? I would much
prefer to publish this in Captivate then Flash..

It seems I found the solution. It's easy, but thanks for
replying without answering teh original posters questions... sorry
if I seem frustrated, but so far every single time I posted a
question about Adobe products, most of the time after a day or two
of trying to find the answer myself, and although even after days I
still thought (think) it was a very legitimate question - like how
do I find out if an MC is running, i.e. if the _current_frame+1 is
going to be played or not (answer: not possible, unless I overwrite
the movieclip class with one where all methods that could possibly
change the play status are overwritten to set a public class
variable like "is_playing" true or false) - I get no response.
The answer this time is - I say this to the original poster -
to go to the advanced audio dialog, export all audio, and then
export to flash works, it automatically includes the audio! It was
mentioned by someone above to use this method, but in a wrong
context - there also was the advice to then include the audio
manually in the Flash project. This is strange advice, since a) it
works automatically, and b) it SHOULD work automatically, so this
workaround from someone posting with an Adobe logo is not an answer
I would be satisfied with. I pay Adobe for working products, I can
    come up with workarounds myself!
I do know how hard it is to answer user questions in such a
busy forum (I once worked at one of the major Linux companies for 5
years and occasionally voluntarily stepped into discussions on the
mailinglists), I'm just a little frustrated about never being taken
    seriously... :-)

  • My Final Cut Express 2 won't import any audio or export anything

My Final Cut Express 2 won't import mp4s or any audio or export anything. I have been using compressor only. I have recently just changed to Tiger 10.4.11

Final Cut Express does not work with MP4s.  You need to convert the MP4 video to QuickTime DV or QuickTime Apple Intermediate Codec before importing it into FCE.  Which one to use depends on the properties of the MP4 video you have ... basically, if it's standard def 4:3 then convert to QuickTime DV (NTSC if you are in North America, PAL if you are in Eurpope) ... high def 16:9 should be converted to QuickTime Apple Intermediate Codec.
In most cases you can use MPEG Streamclip to do the conversion.
As for audio files, they need to be AIFF, 16-bit (aka 48KHz), stereo.   If they are not AIFF format you need to convert them ... you can use iTunes or almost any audio editing software to convert audio files.

  • No audio when exporting from mpeg to flv

We have two PCs with Premiere Pro and AME installed, and just upgraded to CC. On one computer exporting works fine, on the other one, I'm losing the audio when exporting from mpeg to flv. I have used the same preset as on the other computer (that works) and also tried other presets that came with AME.
I can't figure out why this wouldn't work on one but works fine on the other? Anyone who knows?

How are you determining that the FLV has no audio?  Are you playing it back in VLC Player or importing it into Flash?
Also, do you see a full range of formats on the system where you don't hear audio?  If some formats are missing this might be  a licensing issue.  Also check if AME recognizes audio on the MPEG source (hover over it  in the queue and look for  audio info in the tool tip).

  • No audio in exported video from Premiere Elements 9

I have Premiere Elements 9 and the audio works fine in my editable files in Premiere, but when I export the video directly to YouTube or to a file, the sound completely disappears.  I have tried several different export settings and nothing seems to work.  The sound is just gone.  Any ideas why the audio works in Premiere and not in the finished files?  How do I fix this?  Thank you!

    Welcome to the forum.
There are two places that one must choose Audio in Export/Share settings: initially, with checking Export Audio & Export Video, and then with the Multiplexing Tab, where the method of combining the Audio & Video into one file is chosen. This is the point usually missed. What is your Multiplexing Tab set to?
What happens if, when you chose Export Audio & Export Video, and set the Multiplexing to "DVD," or anything but "None," and then Export/Share to a folder on your HDD? Do you get muxed (Multiplexed) Audio & Video in one file then?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Mod import No audio / No thumbnail preview.

When I connect my Panasonic HDD camcorder imovie does not preview all of my MOD files in my cam. It only displays thumbnails for some of the oldest clips that are in my cam. Also when I import one of the files that does not show a preview, that clip imports without audio. Thanks for any help....

Update - I have not solved the mystery: Audio files will preview in one project, but not in another. Project and composition settings appear to be identical. Audio is turned on in preview panel in both projects.
I have worked around it by importing the problem project into a separate project where audio preview is working as expected. NOW I can preview audio in the problem compositions....
But I'd still like to figure out the root cause of the problem. Your ideas would be much appreciated!

  • Wrong Audio After Export

    Hi
I put some audio fx (moderate compressor, HiPass, LowPass...) on the clips and did a bit of rubberbanding. If I play the sequence in PPro, all sounds nice.
But after export/encoding some parts of the rubberbanding (volume) are wrong or lost. Plus there are some holes at the end of some clips, which sounds like an compressor error. And there are some tiny volume changes in the exported audio.
I did all exports with the best audio quality settings.
The sequence has only two stereo tracks: the on-camera voice (A1) and music (A2).
The sample rate of the captured audio is 32 kHz w/ two channels. The sample rate of the sequence is 48 kHz.
Is it possible to mixdown all audio tracks to one (stereo) track?
If so, may this be a solution?
Is it possible to change the sample rate of the footage?
    I tried
    * render the audio before export
    * NOT render the audio before export (and delete previous renders)
    * delete preferences
    * direct export and export via AME
Best regards & thanks for your input.
    (PPro CS 5; Win 7 64bit)

Is it possible to mixdown all audio tracks to one (stereo) track?
You can try exporting the audio by itself as a stereo WAV, and then import that back into Pr, and replace your audio in a duped sequence with your WAV mix.

  • No audio in Ram Preview

Hi. I'll try and be a short and detailed as I can. After Effects CS5.5. Import an audio track or video containing audio and I cannot hear audio during playback after Ram Preview is created. I can hold the control key and scrub audio. Audio renders when I render the project. I can do an Audio Preview only, but I cannot seem to figure out how to see the graphics (which are animated to the audio itself) and hear the audio play back at the same time. This creates a unique problem when creating graphics which are timed to the audio. Do I really need to render the entire project every time I want to preview my work?
    Thanks...

Well let me try to give you the big picture (pun intended)
What you can't see here: I use a Bose 2.1 speaker system (not that that has any impact).
Audio renders fine, scrubs fine, I can do an audio preview fine but NEVER both an audio and video preview.

  • No audio on RAM preview - After Effects CS3

I can't seem to get AUDIO in RAM previews with my current project.
Scrubbing audio in the timeline works fine. But I hear no audio with RAM preview  (from menu, from control panel OR hitting '0' on the ext. keyboard), and no playthrough audio preview ('.' on the ext keyboard). I can see the color bars moving in the audio window during these previews, but hear no sound. I've tried .aiff, .wav and .mov files - all of which work fine in other projects.
Here's the odd thing - if I open a previous project, audio preview works just fine in RAM and playthrough. I can preview my new audio files in the previous project, but not in a new project.
Haven't upgraded, or changed any settings or defaults since the last project a month ago. Audio buttons are ON in preview menus and panels.
Does anyone have an idea on what quirks or settings might be causing this?

Update - I have not solved the mystery: Audio files will preview in one project, but not in another. Project and composition settings appear to be identical. Audio is turned on in preview panel in both projects.
I have worked around it by importing the problem project into a separate project where audio preview is working as expected. NOW I can preview audio in the problem compositions....
