No audio in imported files

I'm trying to get my quicktime movie converted so it plays on my ipod, but the format of the movie is MPEG1 Muxed which doesn't play the audio after it is imported onto imovie. How could I convert it so it's in a format that will transfer my audio too instead of the muxed form it's in now?

Hi, Rich, welcome to iMovie Discussions.
"..What am I missing?.." ..You're missing the sound. Are you sure they're MPEG-4, and not MPEG-2..?
You're missing the sound because even though an MPEG facility exists in iMovie HD, nevertheless, the movies you're trying to use have their audio embedd within them in such a way that although, say, QuickTime, can play them complete with the sound, iMovie cannot! Strange but true. That's just how iMovie's been created.
So you'll need to run your clips through a third-party program (..QuickTime won't normally do this, as far as I remember..) in order to reformat the clips so that the audio is playable in iMovie.
So, Streamclip, or there are a few others. Here's how I did it the long way round till I remembered ..no: was reminded to use!.. Streamclip.

  • How to get audio in imported files?

I'm trying to import a keynote file from iwork 09 into the ipad version.
the presentation has background audio (mp3) and everytime I try to import, the soundtrack is removed by the application.
Im using the new Keynote 1.2 for ipad and keynote 5.0.4(633) on OSX 10.6.4
Any idea what i am doing wrong?
    Help is greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Paddy

    I share your pain!!!
I spend five hours today designing, and constructing an awesome presentation in Keynote for iPad 1.2. I then brought it into the Mac version of Keynote '09. I then added a great soundtrack in the Mac version and tried to export/import it back into Keynote for the iPad 1.2 with exactly the same results - it ripped off the sound track.
I can't find a way from the Mac version of Keynote to "share" the presentation since I used custom slide and transition timing on the iPad version of Keynote and don't want to used "fixed" timing on each slide of the presentation.
Bottom line I want to produce a finished Keynote to play with sound on my iPad, or a finished video that looks just like the presentation on my Mac.
    Any ideas?

  • No audio on import file

When I import my video file I have no audio. I am new to compressor . I am importing as an mpeg-2 file. Do I need to import as a different type of file if so What?
    thanks

Compressor doesn't like using/transcoding MPEG-2 (mux) files. For one thing the audio won't play and Compressor is a little buggy when transcoding MPEG-2 files. Your best bet is to use the MPEG Streamclip app (free).
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
Use MPEG Streamclip to transcode your MPEG-2 file to what ever codec/format that you were trying to use Compressor for...
What are you trying to do?

  • I have some audio files on my previous phone which I would like to export to my new iPhone 5. I am told that you can only import files from iTunes. Is that true? If not, how do I import files from my phone - or my Macbook pro laptop-to my phone?  Thanks!

iTunes will only import music from your phone that was purchased from the iTunes store.  To transfer music from other sources you have to use 3rd party software, such as PhoneView.

  • Import files has only imported audio, not video

I used FCP7 to capture some footage from DV PAL.
I then went to FCPX, chose "Import Files" and selected the 2 clips I had captured. I chose to copy into the FCPX events library. FCPX only imported the audio, and not the video.
    This is the movie info:
    DV, 720 x 576 (768 x 576), Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 48.000 kHz
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 48.000 kHz
    Is this a bug?

    Hi Charlottehjc,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Is it happening with a specific .mov file or with all the .mov files.
Right click on the video and choose new sequence from clip, then check if the issue persists.
Also please mention are you using Windows or Mac and the version of Premiere Pro.
    Thanks

  • Can you somehow speed up audio recognition of a newly imported file?

When I import a new big file, it can take several minutes even on my very powerful computer for Pr to "read" it sound-wise. I can jump around freely in the video, but without the sound, it often makes it hard to make cuts before it is finished. It would be nice if Pr knew where I was in the timeline of the video and "discovered" audio "nearby" instead of going from start to finish in a linear fashion.

    Can you somehow speed up
audio recognition of a newly imported file?
    Nope.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 not playing audio on imported MP4 files.

I am editing a series of MP4 clips shot with a Canon Vixia, and for some reason, Premiere Pro CS6 will not play the audio on a few of the imported files. All of the clips were videotaped with the same camera. I know that there is audio on the clips in question, because it works fine when they are opened in Windows Media Player. I have deleted and reimported the faulty files, to no avail. I noticed in the online discussions that several others have had this problem; but I haven't been ablet o find an online fix thus far. I would greatly appreciate advice on this!

I have a Canon Vixia HFS100, which saves AVCHD files to an SD card... exactly what model is your camera?

  • Importing files, audio not rendered

Hi, I am new to final cut. I am in the middle of something and need a hand. I have footage that was captured with imovie that I want in my final cut project. I open the package content of the imovie project, made an alias of the media folder and placed it on desktop so when I was in final cut and went to import files I could select the ones i NEEDED. However, and its not only with the imovie files but all video files in general is that k, when I double click and view in my edit monitor, there is audio, when I drag the clip into the timeline, I get the red line at top and beep noise cause my audio is unrendered. Any help with this work around or am i FORCED to work with imovie on this one. Cause there is alot of pffotage and I bet rendered this much footage would take along time. Thanks

Well, I tried what you said but no go. Basically what I did to was I astarte a whole new project with nothing imported from a camera or anything. I then went to import, files, clicked a the quicktime dv file. it added it ot my project folder. I then double clicked it, pressed play, audio there, then brought it into the timeline, render bar still there. So I am not suer what the problem is here. as I said before, this happens to any file that is quicktime or avi, etc. why does it want to render the audio so bad, why wouldn't it just play it in the time line like it does in the editor panel

  • Premiere Pro cs6 - Workspace video pane remains blank when trying to view imported files

    Hello,
I'm currently working in Adobe Premiere Pro CS6. When I import my media into my workspace and drag it onto the timeline, the preview box where you can review your cut video remains black. Double clicking on the imported file gives the same result. I was initially importing .jpg files (about 300kb size for each) so I tried importing various other image formats - .png, .tiff, etc... I have even imported a movie file into my scene to determine whether the issue was with my content format. With the video, the audio plays fine, but the video remains blank in the preview box. I have tried rendering my workspace and changing my initial project settings, but to no avail. I went into my preferences for Premiere and from what I can determine, everything looks fine.
I'm running the software on an HP Pavilion, Windows 7 intel i7, 8gb ram, with a nvidia 650M 2GB card. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi,
Have you tried to change your Video Renderer? It would be under Project > Project Settings > General. Switch the option to Mercury Playback Engine software only and see if it helps.
    Thanks,

Now heres the things i have already tried.
    1)Reinstalling After Effects repeatedly.
    2)updating quick time
    3)Deleting the pref file
    4)removed any and all plug-ins
    5)Deleted the OpenGL file
    6)changed by screen resolution.
    7)closed down anti-virus programs
8)Tried various ways of importing files, like drag and drop
    9)tried importing different files.
10)Restarting my computer after attempting the all above^
I have also been to the general specialist website already thank you very much.
Edit: Now i have also tried uninstalling quick time and all of the video codec packs on my computer, this also didn't help (i did remember to restart afterwards)
Edit: Also, i started a new thread because nothing in any of the other threads on this same or similar errors was at all helpful to me.
edit3: i might also add that i have after effects 6.5 and it works just fine, though its much older.

  • Getting Started with FCE - Problems with my imported files

    Hi,
I'm trying to get started with Final Cut Express, but I'm experiencing lots of problems when I import my project from iMovie.
My project contains video, which I imported into iMovie at 960 x 540. It also contains some keynote animations, which I exported from Keynote as quicktime files.
When I export my files to FCE, I instantly get problems.
    1) When I add the imported file to the sequence, I get an "Attention the clip does not match the sequence's setting or any of your sequence settings" error.
    2) Whether I choose to translate my settings or not, I try to play the video in the timeline, but there is a continuous beeping sound, no audio from my video and when it hits the keynote animations, it just says "unrendered" or "media offline".
Please can you offer any advice on how I can get started with FCE more successfully.
    Thanks!

    Hi(Bonjour)!
(please specify iMovie and FCE version)
Well, your sequence settings in FCE should be DV-PAL 48 Khz.
    Create a new sequence.
From iMovie and Keynote, export your movie with quicktime conversion andd select DV-PAL 48 kHz (*And Not* DV Stream...). This material should play without rendering because his format and codec match the sequence's codec.
Import your files and everything should be OK.
    Michel Boissonneault
The audio should be AIFF 48 kHz 16 bit linear PCM

  • How to capture screen activity? (screen&audio to video file)

    Hello,
I have to capture video desktop activity (including audio) to a file using JMF. I spent hours and hours searching this... a have studied a lot of classes, examples BUT I don't know how to bind them... how to record the actvity. My project is to record screen activity, upload on a server and finally control my computer remotely from an applet (or from another java desktop application). I will use HTTP streaming (what I record I upload on a server, then stream it to the client)
Can someone show me some hints or code for modifying JVidCap example from Sun? Someone else on Sun forum said he could do it but did not say how...
I just want to modify the video capturing so that I get the screen actifity recorded. I read nearly all examples possible including Screen Grabber...
    Please help me!
I also have those two classes to get the screen activity as datasource... from [Screen Grabber|http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/desktop/media/jmf/2.1.1/solutions/ScreenGrabber.html] example but I really don't understand how to implement them in my application because there is no method returning a datasource object... (or probably I don't know how to use them):

  • Failing to import files correctly from Handycam DVD camera

    Hi,
I try to import files directly from my Sony Handycam DVD camera to PRE8 by inserting the DVD in the PC.
There is only audio at the first part of every file. Approximately the first 20 - 30 % of the total video length. The sound does not appear neither in playback in W media player, Quick Time, W movie maker or PRE. Why am I missing the audio?
What is the best way to import for editing in PRE?
What is the best file type for editing in PRE?
What is the fastest way for converting, if needed?
My handycam camera provides wide screen option. But the wide screen in PRE8 seems to be "wider" than the camera...

Seems like this got the answers to most of my problems
That "More Like This" area can really work sometimes. Glad that you saw it, and that it helped.
If you have more issues, please let us know and good luck,

  • How do I monitor audio while importing?

While importing from my cable TV, I Can see the incoming video but caan't hear the audio. I would be helpful if I could here the audio so I could go about my work and keep an ear on the feed. Then I would know when the feed is over without having to Constantly watch it. I suppose I could size the monitor windo real small and put it in the corner of my screen then rearrange all working windows arround it. But that's a pain...

How do I monitor audio while importing?
Use iMovie HD or Vidi to import files to your computer. Both allow audio monitoring. iMoveie '08 does not.
