No audio in my new Imac

Hi everybody,
I have a problem with the sound of my Imac. I haven't sound!
In the audio-midi configuration there aren't any sound card or devices recognised...

This is the audio configuration that I have:

In the others Imac in my office the "Identifiant de l’audio " is 50. I think it's the only different that I found. Somebody can help me to find the solution or the problem?

Hello, again:
Were you able to make sense of the sequence of steps and
what the author of this post was trying to relate to the party
with the problem?

There are things which may invoke the system to rebuild these missing
parts automatically; once it realizes they are missing (or due to other
parts you may need to remove, so that it will.
Since your computer has some moved-over preferences from the previous
computer which was a different configuration and processor series, this
may be an issue which takes time. Or, it may be resolved by using the
Installer disc to boot the computer and perform an "Archive and Install"
and be sure to read up on this topic from the Apple support database.
The issue probably related to the migration assistant or other means
used to move the old user files and other stuff into the new computer;
and there may be issues. So, the 'A&I' answer may be the way to go.
If you have access to the bootable installer discs which came with the
Mac, it is possible to do some maintenance, such as use Disk Utility
from that booted disc's Installer menu (while not launching Installer)
and run Disk Utility's 'repair disk' and then run 'repair disk permissions'
and then quit D.U., then choose Startup Disk from the utilities menu
in the Installer's window (the menu bar for this is the only access you
need, once you start the computer from the install DVD by holding the
C key down; and the first window is the language window, note the
first window(s) have no finder-like menu bar? Only proceed in the Install
to the point where this menu bar on the top of the screen appears...
Resetting the PRAM/NVRAM may help; but the messup could be fixed
at another level of access; & I am not familiar with that single-user mode.
Instead, I rely on simple things (including making full system clones on
external bootable firewire hard disk drives, etc) and prefer to try stuff
like SafeBoot -- on startup or restart, hold the Shift key down, and at
some point you will see a login window, and it should say SafeBoot, so
you proceed; then when you get to a desktop, use GO in the Finder menu
bar to get a shortcut to Utilities (folder) and open it; choose Disk Utility
from the folder contents, and launch it. Choose (click) on name of the
computer in the left-side column, and then see the buttons you can
choose in the Disk Utility window, one is "repair disk permisions" the
others are of no consequence here; run repair disk permissions, then
quit the D.U. and restart the computer normally. This may not help.
But if you have never run repair disk permissions, it can't hurt.
After migrating a system to another computer, you may have to check
several things in it to see what is messing up the new hardware.
At this hour (1:24AM) I am not really able to specify in detail any steps
to check or perform on this process to resolve this issue; so hopefully
it won't be as involved as a new archive and install (and be sure it saves
user settings in new system it will install on the Mac's hard drive...)
But the archive and install is likely the ticket...
Good luck & good night!

  • Error when installing jam pack/audio content on new imac

Keep trying to install the audio/jam pack cd´s that came with my Logic Studio bundle on my new Imac/Leopard. When i´m almost done installing, it asks for the "logic" cd and then after a while i´m getting an error "installation failed"- disk corrupted" or something? I cannot as it works now find (almost) any of the audio files that i´m using (brass/horn sounds etc..). Anyone who´s had the same experience?
    Thanks!

Also seeing this problem. I'm updating to latest logic and 10.5.3 right now to see if it mitigates it.

  • 'Audio In' on new iMac

    Hi people...
I've just bought an Intel Mac, and i'm well pleased with it. My iBook has been donated to my parents, so they're now successful PC to Mac converts...at last!
On my iBook, to transfer old cassettes to it i used to use the Griffin iMic and it's accompanying Final Vinyl software. I've noticed on the rear of my iMac next to the headphone socket, there's a 3.5mm audio in socket. I've had a look around the 'Help' topics on the Mac, and i've had a look in the handbook that came with the computer, but i've found no real answers.
Unless i'm being stupid-is this a line in, and if so, how do i use it? I'd much rather use the in-built one as opposed to the iMic. What software etc do i have to use to take advantage of it/record the stuff i'm playing??
I have an 'audio out' on my Sony Hi-Fi system, so do i just plug the audio out to the 3.5mm Audio in on the back of the iMac?
No real clear instructions on this! Or have i over-looked something?
    Cheers in advance,
    Dan

    Hello Dan
Yes connect your Sony Hi-Fi system to the iMac's Audio In-port (mic. jack) shown in the User's Guide, then choose Line-In as AppleMan1958 suggest above.
However I'd like to share this little App. called SoundRecorder 2.1 for free that allows you to select the input source, adjust the input level and records to QuickTime.

  • Has anyone solved how to input audio into the new iMac 27 inch?

The 27 inch iMac does not have an audio input socket. Is there any way that this can be accomplished?

To name but one of hundreds.

  • Recording audio from a tape deck on the new iMac - Audio Input?

Hi folks, I used to have the older 2008 iMac which had an audio IN socket and also the audio OUT, but the new iMac I bought at the start of this year only has the Headphones socket, which apparently is supposed to also act as the Audio In, However I've never been able to get it to work and noticed some people online suggesting a Griffin or a Berringher device at around £30?...
I'm wondering if anyone knows do the cheaper devices on ebay for around £5, such as the basic USB Audio devices with the Input mic and headphones out socket work with the new iMac or do I specifically have to get one of the more expensive devices?
I have the Roxio Video to USB device, which uses a special Roxio application to capture the video, so I'm wondering if these devices only capture to their own specific applications or will it allow me to record through the USB to say, Garageband or one of the Adobe applications?
I'd basically like to be able to hook my tape deck up with Analogue L&R and then hook the mini audio jack into the mac and record, that's what I used to do... and the sound quality was pretty good...
Any help on this would be cool, thanks!

Thanks. Now, since Apple failed to provide an audio in jack for their new and improved iMacs (mine has one), all I can suggest is that you contact AppleCare, since you have 90-dqy free phone support. If need be, you might reconsider your purchase, but that's for you to decide.

  • PLEASE HELP - No Audio or video on new iMac

    Hello all.
I have a new iMac. 3.5months old. Just this week it started acting up on me. I cannot play any audio or video files. itunes won't play songs, YouTube won't play videos, etc. I can't figure it out. I've tried renewing Quicktime but it says i already have the newest version installed. When i try to play youtube vids for example....i get the 'blue lego icon' with a question mark beside it.
If anybody has any insight into this than please let me know.
    Thanks
    Overly Frustrated

What software have you installed during the past week, as in shortly before the problem developed? Have you recently used Maintenance applications like Onyx, etc?
When you try to play music in iTunes and it doesn't work, exactly how does it not work? Do you get some kind of error message? Does iTune act like it is playing the music but you just can't hear it? When you examine the Sound settings under System Preferences, does anything look questionable?
Take a movie you would ordinarily play using QuickTime. Highlight the movie file and then Right click on it. Under "Open With" are you given multiple choices of applications to open the file? Do any of them work?
If you do the same thing with a Music file NOT located within iTunes, are there any applications that work?
What browser are you using to access YouTube?
Sorry, no answers. Just more questions.

  • Why am I getting distortion from my audio interface while using Logic 9 on my new iMac with Maverick?

I have been recording using a line 6 UX2 interface and also, a Focusrite iTrack Solo interface, successfully with Logic 9 on my 2007 MBP for a few years now.  I recently bought a new iMac and migrated my time machinre back up to the iMac.  Since then I have had to maunually replace missing sound and room evironment files, and now I cannot get a clean mic recording using either interface or either of my two mics.
    Any suggestions?

I assume you have an iMac with a fusion drive? If so, contact Apple. Audio dropouts on these machines even occur in iTunes.

    Hi,
Not sure you can do anything about this. I get vaiable import speeds - a lot depends on the actual disc. The Read Write spec is 24X but I rarely see speeds close to this.

  • After moving files to new iMac, an iMovie project won't play audio music tracks

I bought new imac. Transferred files using target disk method and firewire - drag and drop.  All files appear to have moved OK to new imac.  But when I try to resume working on an imovie project that I had started on the old imac, the itunes music clips I dragged into a series of clips does not play the music, even though the green bar appears under the clips and the audio adjustments appear to be the same as in the old imac, which I still have.  The audio that is "built in" to the original clips when the videos were made on the camera are still there and play.  Help, please ?  Thanks.

    Hi
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
    • Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
    iDVD pref file resides.
    Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
    and is named. com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iDVD.
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Program miss-match. iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
    • Program miss-match. iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match. iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
    • Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
Last resort. from Craig. Solved the problem!! Finally!!
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !
    iDVD updated ?
    Apple Codec updated ?
Start a New Clean project - or delete project assets
No of Colors - must be set to millions

  • M-Audio Firewire 410 soundcard problem on Windows on new iMac

I've had this problem since I got the new iMac. When running Windows natively, with all Boot Camp 2.0 (same with the older Boot Camp) drivers installed and the latest drivers for my M-Audio Firewire 410 for Windows XP Pro, I haven't been able to use the sound card at all. Everything installs perfectly, the control panel works, but the hardware won't respond to any sound playback. I'm not sure if it's the Boot Camp drivers for my iMac or if it's my interface. It worked fine through Boot Camp with my MacBook Pro, but not the new Aluminum iMac. Using it with Ableton Live 6/7 fails. Playing it from iTunes fails. Everything fails. My interface is basically rendered useless on Windows. I believe it's an iMac + Boot Camp problem, not the interface. Audio program forums didn't help, so I cam here. Hope someone can help. Thanks!

    from M-audio...
M-Audio does not support Boot Camp on Intel based Macs at this time.
The problem is that there is no BIOS on Mac Intel systems and getting devices to work on some XP systems requires BIOS/OS tweaks. Boot Camp works around the need for BIOS; Windows does not. Windows installations are not always consistent and the fact it works on one Intel Mac does not mean it will work on another.
Attempting to install any M-Audio device or drivers in Boot Camp is done solely at the user’s own risk.
Here is a website that has many troubleshooting tips that can help get devices to work on XP and MAY work for Boot Camp; however this is all done at the users own risk.
    http://www.pcaudiolabs.com/setuptips1.asp?cat=setu
    For M-Audio FireWire devices:
Switching from Mac to PC the FireWire device may not always load the firmware properly. To get the PC firmware to load you may have to boot into XP then shut down, disconnect, reconnect and reboot. Switching from PC to Mac automatically loads the correct firmware.
If this workaround does not fix your issue, you will have to run the device solely on Mac OS or on Windows hardware.

  • As there is no audio input on the new iMac range, What external equipment will allow me to record onto my iMac ?

As there is no audio input port on the new imac range, what external epuipment can i use to record dj podcasts from a pioneer DJM 700 mixer?

I'd be inclined to use something like the Numark Stereo I/O. If you're currently using the line-in on an iMac then you will see a drastic improvement.
    http://www.numark.com/product/stereoio
That said, you can spend as much or as little as your wallet will allow on a USB input device, more investment brings better quality ADCs, higher bit rates, lower latency and more inputs.

  • Audio interface and external hard drive config for new imac 21"

Hi. Just got the new imac 21" and I'm considering using it as my main daw with Logic Studio as an upgrade from my old sonar mobo. I usually run up to 40 tracks of recorded audio with fx plugs. I hope to do this at 24 bit 96 instead of 24bit 44 like I did on the old system. I also run the occasional softsynth and sequencer which I don't mind bouncing down to .wav to conserve cpu.
I really like the specs on the m-audio profire 2626 (I need the 8 mic inputs for recording drums) which needs firewire. But at the same time I'm reading a lot of recommendations about using an fw800 external drive for audio. I've read a little about daisy chaining and I'm wondering if anyone's gotten this type of configuration to work. I'm also open to any other configuration options you have to share that would enable my goal of successfully using this mac with logic.
thanks in advance for the help,
    dave

I run three firewire audio interfaces daisy chained together, 2 Presonus FP10's and an Alesis Multimix8.
This gives me 24 simultaneous inputs. I normally record 24 bit at 88.2 . My iMac has a FW800 and a FW400 port. What I tried to do was run all the interfaces through the 400 and record to a FW800 external hard drive but I it kept dropping out interfaces, even if I used only one interface. I switched firewire cables on the hard drive to a 800/400 so that the hard drive was now operating as a 400 and I did not have any more interface drop outs.
Even though the iMac has 2 firewire ports, they connect to a single cable to the i/o inside the Mac. If I try recording to an external hard drive, that is 24 tracks going into the Mac, back out to the hard drive, back in to the Mac and then back out to the interfaces and on to the monitor speakers. That is a lot to ask of a firewire connection.
So, I record to the internal drive and use the external for backing up and saving the projects.

  • M-Audio MobilePre USB on new iMac

    Hi All
Well, I ordered my 20" iMac on the 25th of August, and it wasn't suppose to ship till tomorrow. And today, I found out I got a nice free upgrade to the new Core 2 Duo 20" iMac, which really made me happy Looks like I'll be getting one of the first BTO Core 2 Duo iMacs, which is really awesome
Anyway, my question to you all is about the M-Audio MobilePre USB and if any of you got it working on the Intel iMacs running 10.4.7. Last I checked, they only had Intel and PPC drivers for upto 10.4.6. My Powerbook is running 10.3.9 so I can't test to see if it would work with the latest OS (plus, the power adapter had a melt down, so I can't even use it at the moment).
    Thanks,

    Hi phjo,
Thanks for the info. I guess I'll have to wait and see when my new iMac arrives.
By the way, besides a newer and faster processor, is there any other major difference between the old 20" iMac and the new Core 2 Duo one?

  • Whats the best audio interface to use w/new Imac?

Hey now! I;ve just bought a brand new Imac 20"
and I'm wondering whats the best Audio interface to use w/ garageband? Also firewire or USB. I want record guitar, bass, vocals, etc.. thanks!

You may want to ask this question in the GarageBand forums.
USB is cheaper but Firewire is generally better.
PreSonus is a good brand and I think they are class compliant, so no driver needed - plug and play.
M-Audio is another popular brand. Sometimes may have driver issues, though.
But a lot depends on your budget and what your needs are. How many input will you need, etc?
If just for solo recording then the PreSonus Inspire would be good. For a full band their FP10 (Firebox) is great.
Check out this site to get you started (lots of great GB info too):

Also check Sweetwater, MusiciansFriend for interfaces.
