I've a problem with Premiere CS4: Simply I hear no audio. I've tried to insert in the time line various kind of films or single file audio but I see moving the audio level display without hearing nothing.

  • PROBLEM EDITING AUDIO BETWEEN PREMIERE CS4 AND AU OR SB

I have a problem editing my audio files in audition or soundboth, when I return to premiere after have edited the file in AU or SB, I can't see the wave in premiere but I can hear the audio.
I have to rebote premiere to see the wave.
    What could be happening?
    could you help me, please?
Excuse me for my english, I speak spanish.

What are your exact steps to edit in SB or AU? Do you first Rt-click on the Audio Clip and choose Edit in SoundBooth (or Audition)? Do you Render and Replace (basically what happens with the previous method), and then Open that resulting file in SB, or AU?
From SB, or AU, how do you Save your file - exact steps please?
    Good luck,

  • Lost audio in Premiere CS4 - PLEASE HELP...

I have been building several projects and after weeks of problems and tweaking I am finally ready to export them to their final formats and all of the sudden the audio is not playing in the time line or the export. I saw a reference that this can happen if the media is copied and pasted from another project.
Well I had a sizing issue a week or two age and had to setup a new project to fix the problem so I copied the edited media over and except for the in and out fades on a graphic everything everything seemed to transfer just fine and I have been refining the edits for over a week with no problem - till last night that is when I went to do the final export and bam, no audio.
I also saw a proposed solution of making the media offline and then linking the media again but both of those options are grayed out no matter what I do...
Praying someone out there knows how I can fix this issues with out having to rebuild everything AGAIN...
    Many thanks!!!

  • Exporting 5.1 ac3 audio from Premiere Pro CS4

    Hi there,
I wonder if anybody can help me out with exporting 5.1 ac3 audio from Premiere CS4 version 4.1.0?
I have a 3min long HD 5.1 clip that I need to cut down to 60seconds and add fade transitions to. The final clip will be used in a media player with very specific spec - the clip needs to remain HD 1080p with a frame rate of 29.97 and a maximum CBR of 38. The audio must be 5.1 aac. The format can be mpeg 2 or h.264. The overall quality loss needs to be minimal.
Up to now I have been cutting up footage that only needs to be stereo and I found the best way to to this while keeping quality was to use Prem Pro and export as mpeg 2 1080p 29.97, quality:5, bitratre: CBR 38, audio as mpeg layer 2 (as these clips were stereo only). These clips played back fine and looked great so I wanted to keep the 5.1 clip process as close to this as possible.
So far all I have been able to get from Premiere Pro is an audio codec called DVD_LPCM which the media player will not recognise. I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to 5.1 audio so I may be doing something obviously wrong...
    - I have purchased the 5.1 surcode codec and its activated.
    - I have started a new AVCHD (I need 1920x1080) 1080p 29.97  project with a 5.1 audio master
    - The orignal file is an mpeg which I have pulled into PPro and selected Clip > Audio > Breakout to mono
    - I take the 6 mono channels in the project panel and put them into thier own mono tracks in the sequence.
    - the video I use is the original mpeg with the 5.1audio muted in the sequence.
    - When i select each track in the project panel and go to Clip > Audio > Source channel mappings, I see that track has already been allocated a source channel. So I go to the Audio Mixer panel and adjust the 5.1 panners for each tyrack according to what the Source Channel Mapping window has told me - Audio 1 is is L, audio 2 is R, audio 3 is LS, 4 -  Rs, 5- C and 6- LFE
    - I cut the video and all the mono track to the 60seconds I need and export using these settings:
    Video - exactly as before
    Audio -
Format - Dolby Digital, Codec - SurCode, Audio Coding Mode: 3/1 (L, R, C, LFE, Ls, Rs - 5.1 Surround), LFE: on.
The clip exports with DVD_LPCM 5.1 audio. Is it to do with the AVCHD preset? Could anyone help me get aac? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Using AME and the SurCode Plug-in, here's how the dialog screen looks for the Audio Tab in PrPro 2.0. It should be similar in CS4:
You do have the Minnetonka SurCode DD 5.1 SS plug-in, right?
Good luck, and hope that this is helpful.

PS - note that in the screen-cap, I have composited the dialog box, as though it fully displayed, with no need to scroll it. Depending on your display, you may need to scroll, and your scroll bars will look different from what you see here - just ignore that part of it.

  • Premiere CS4 Audio Effects Only Work On Latter Half Of Each Audio Clip

I'm currently working with Premiere CS4 on a Windows 7 PC and running into some audio issues when exporting the video. In the timeline when I playback the preview the audio sounds fine but when I export it the audio effects I applied in Premiere only work half the time. Each audio clip will play in it's raw form for a few seconds and then halfway through playing the Premiere audio effects will turn on. I have two audio tracks in my timeline, one for music and the other for narration. There are 10 video tracks in total for various masks, overlays, title, etc.
The sequence has 18 audio clips in total and each one has a separate EQ, Highpass, Volume, and Denoiser effect on it (most are similar but are fine tuned for each clip). So far I've tried exporting as an AVI, MP4, and WMV but each has the same issue. I've also tried exporting with and without the "Use Preview Files" option on the Adobe Media Encoder to no avail.
Has anyone else ever encountered this type of issue before or have any ideas on how to fix it?

Posting for anyone else who comes across this issue:
I was able to fix this by taking all of my audio clips and nesting them in a new sequence, which was then moved to the main sequence. I kept all the effects on their individual clips.

  • Premiere CS4 is only encoding half of the audio

    Ok, I'm basically stuck here.
I export my sequence from Premiere CS4 to Media Encoder and the final encoded video has audio for the first half but then abruptly cuts out and there's only silence after that.
The audio works and sounds fine in the Premiere project. It is mainly audio that was recorded with the video clips but there are also some unlinked music tracks as well. The video clips are a mix of .WMV, .MOV, and .AVI and the audio music clips are .WAVs. I'm currently working on a PC.
I tried re-encoding, restarting the computer and then re-encoding, and nesting the sequence within a new sequence and then re-encoding. The problem still persists though.
This problem is especially confusing because this is the third and final video to be exported from the project and the first two videos exported and encoded perfectly fine without any audio problems. The first two videos also contained a similar mix of video and audio formats.
So, I'm really confused and frustrated with this issue. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Were you able to fix it? Any ideas, solutions, or suggestions are greatly appreciated!
    -Ben

    Thanks for the message Hunt.
When I said that the audio cuts out at different times I was referring to exporting the same sequence with no editing. So, when the exact same sequence is exported multiple times the audio will cut out at different points for each exported video. This makes it really hard to pinpoint a specific clip.
Thanks for the ideas about where to look for the problem. I didn't really keyframe the audio at all but there were keyframes on some of the video clips. I was working with Effects a lot but mainly just for video color correction and transitions. I agree about there being a lot of nooks and crannies and it's pretty unfortunate that it has come to checking into all of those.
I agree that AME shouldn't be causing this problem out of "sheer meaness" but I am rather inclined to start referring to AME as the "Adobe Meaness Encoder", ha ha!
FIXED!! Ok, so I figured out a work around which is a little shoddy but seems to do the trick.
-Based on mickkeav's suggestion I updated AME with the 4.0.2 update. I don't know if this solved anything or not because I didn't do an export immediately after updating.
-I exported out the entire sound track from my final sequence as a .WAV and then replaced the original, problematic audio with that new .WAV file. This seemed to solve the problem because the sound now works fine and doesn't cut out at all. The audio still sounds as good as it did originally too.
An earlier, similar solution was to use Quicktime Pro to remove the existing, errored sound track from the video and then add the new and complete .WAV file but this increased the video's file size by 100 mb whereas encoding with the new .WAV track in AME did not increase the video file size at all.
Thanks for the help and hopefully nobody else runs into this problem!

  • Video audio problem when import to premiere CS4

I have a file encode by flash media live encoder and I try to edit in premiere CS4 but when I import the file the video audio is not synchronised. The recorded file play run good in adobe media player. Any sugestions? Thanks in advance.

Going back a bit over a year, there was a thread on this forum, where the OP needed to use the Flash Live Recorder, as there were both streaming material from lectures and then edited material to go up on their intranet Web site for later viewing. That poster had similar issues with the live material, IIRC.
I am certain that this thread was after the forum change over, so should still be on the servers. Wish that I could recall more details, but in the end, the OP found resolution to the problem. I know that I participated, but from the side lines. Seems that there was even footage of a rock performance involved in the feed and I edited the FLV material on my PrPro 2.0 with Moyea FLV Importer for Premiere plug-in. I'll look in my e-mail and YouSendIt account to see if I can find the poster's name (might not be his Adobe screen name), but a Search of this forum ought to turn up something. I'll also do a Search and maybe between us, we can find that thread, as there might be some useful tips in it.
In the meantime, maybe this ARTICLE can help you edit the OOS issues.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Premiere CS4 Audio Mixer sometimes records at 33kHz sample freq

Premiere CS4 has been working fairly well for me when editing travel videos from miniDV tape camcorders, except that when I add voice over using the Audio Mixer it sometimes (10 to 15% or the time) recordes at a 33kHz sample frequency.  I have it set fro DV tape editing and 48kHzsample frewuency, but it still, at times, recordes at a 33kHz sample rate.  I use Adobe Audition to correct the sampe rate and finish the audio clip.  Soundbooth is not a convienent as Audition 1.5 for editing voice over clips - wish it was!  Do I have something set wrong, or is this a bug in Premiere Pro CS4?

Yes, It should be recording at 48kHz, and most of the time it does,
but all to often it records at a lower sample rate and I have to redo
it.  Not a big problem, but most annoying.  I can't find anything
that I do differently to cause it to happen.  In my current project I
am up to voice over number 27 and it has happened roughly four or five times.
    Thanks, Bob

  • Premiere CS4 Audio Output with Decklink

    Hi,
i found serveral posts in the net for my Problem, but no solution.
Were on a WindowsXP machine with Premiere CS4 and a Blackmagic Decklink Card.
If we choose a Sequence-Preset from Blackmagic Decklink (which is important for us) and choose the internal Soundcard for Audio Playback,
we dont hear anything. The Audio is routed through the Decklink. We have tried everything to achieve that that audio will be played through the internal Soundcard, but it seems as if the Settings are overwritten by the Decklink Preset.
In CS3 this Problem doesnt exist.
Many thankx in advance for your help....
    Sascha

oh, we have the actual CS4 Update and Deckling Driver installed.

  • How do I get Vio Pov.1 (helmetcam) footage to work with Premiere CS4?

    Hi.
I'm having the same problems as this guy: http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b78c2b/7 with video from the Vio Pov.1 not playing in premiere. Although his topic is already there I made a new topic to get some fresh hits and try to resolve this once and for all. Also because I make some reference to Canon Ixus video files.
I have run the codec-analyzer g-spot on one of the pov.1 video files and it states that I have the proper codec installed.
    Codecs in video clip:
    Video: XviD ISO MPEG-4 @ 3101kbps 720*480
    Audio: 0x0050 MPEG-1 Layer 2 @ 32000Hz 64 kb/s , Monophonic
Still no luck playing/editing them in Premiere CS4. Audio plays fine, video shows but frame is only updated every 4-5 seconds and not the actual frame that corresponds to that point in the audio but actually the next frame from the first one. It continues like that.
    Specs:
Running Vista 32 bit and Adobe Master Collection CS4
    Quad-core 2,4GHz
4GB ram (i know, only about 3 to 3,5GB utilized in 32 bit OS.)
    Nvidia 8800GT 512mb
74GB WD Raptor as system/adobe software drive.
500GB Samsung spinpoint throuch E-sata as project drive.
    The wierd thing is this:
I have a separate system drive with windows xp installed, Adobe Master collection CS3 fully updated and NO other software. (same computer)
    Differance between CS3 and CS4:
    CS3,no codec pack:
    - Canon ixus video files WORK
    - Vio Pov.1 reported as audio only, not even thumbs showing FAIL
    CS3, ffdshow codec pack installed(ffdshow-rev2180_20081004_xxl)
    - Canon ixus: WORKS
    - Vio Pov.1: WORKS
CS4 on vista, relatively fresh install, fully updated, no codes packs.
    - Canon ixus: FAIL
    - Vio Pov.1: FAIL (video)
CS4, same as above with ffdshow installed:
    - Canon ixus: FAIL
    - Vio Pov.1: FAIL (video)
CS4, same as above with morgan mjpeg codec installed:
    - Canon ixus: WORKS (yay!)
    - Vio Pov.1: FAIL (obviously as it's not mjpeg)
Someone with some insight into these things, please point me in the right direction. Does anyone have experience with managing video settings within the ffdshow interface? I'm not experienced enough to tweak all the settings.
The current project Im working on is a small web clip shot with a Panasonic HDC-SD100 and the Vio Pov.1. It's a short rally on ice clip I'm looking to produce the panasonic video files are NOT supportet in CS3 even with codec packs.
    CS3=
    panasonic: no!
    vio-pov1: yes!
    CS4:
    Panasonic: yes!
    Vio-pov1: no!
    See my problem?
I added the Canon ixus comparison since I previously had problems with it but have now solved them. Also to show that Adobe seem to have cut support for certain formats when moving on to CS4. It has taken me a looong time figuring out how to get ixus working in premiere because I'm not used to this stuff.
The ideal solution is not having to convert clips before using them so I would like to focus on that avenue. After all it finally worked with the ixus clips so I have hopes that eventually a solution can be found for the Pov.1 clips which is also more widely spread and used in proper productions.
Im very sorry for the format of this post, and the length. I just had to get it out there to see if someone can help me.
    / Johannes

Thank you Stanley and Bill for your input.
Sorry for checking the topics progress so late.
Bill, could I ask what specific software you are using for this batch conversion task?
Like I stated in my first post I am able to edit the Pov.1 material when plugging in my secondary HD with Xp and CS3 on it. So I can fiddle about with that as well but if you could supply me with the name of your software it would save me all that time swapping harddrives back and fourth. There are so many out there, would like to eliminate risk of malware and such by using the software you have.
(reminder, cs3 does not do AVCHD, #1 of many reasons why I prefer cs4)
I'm still testing various xvid/mpeg4 settings with ffdshow and other codecs, I'm still determined to find a solution, for everyone. After all, it CAN run under CS3.
I have also submitted the case to Adobe. Hoping to hear from them soon. Anyone else care to throw some thoughts in?
Thanks again for the input so far,
    Johannes

  • Can you help me with this Premiere CS4 error? (picture included)

    Hello
I have Adobe Premiere CS4 and when I recently updated to 4.2.1 many of my videos now do not have playback in the source or edit windows. Some are black screens, and some are turquiose during playback. If I click on the edit window to select the video frame and move it within the edit window (say to the left side) it will play back with a turquoise overlay and show the video behind it enlarged. This ONLY happened when I did the update. I am running Windows 7 64bit. When it was at 4.0.0 everything ran just fine. The video I have been working on is a 1080p .MOV file. Has anyone else seen this? There is a picture of the problem below.
    Thanks for any help!
    James Poremba

Updates, whether with a program, or the OS from MS (or Apple), can cause all sorts of driver issues. These are most often seen with video and audio drivers. Just a simple OS hot-fix can render these obsolete instantly. Also, some recent nVidia drivers contained some "gamer-only" modules for things like 3D rendering and 3D stereovision for use with nVidia goggles. These seem to have been updated, so that these modules do not bring Adobe programs to their knees.
A couple of XP-Pro hot-fixes messed up my nVidia Quadro in PS. A simple driver update fixed those. I had gone more than 6 mos. with not one problem, and then installed the hot-fixes and BOOM!
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • How can i open .mts files in premiere cs4?

    Hi all,
    I am using premiere cs4.
when i import .mts file in cs4 it says file format is not supported.
could any one please tell me how can i open .mts file in premiere cs4.
    Thanks
    Murali.

What kind of audio did the camera record?  For example, the Sony NX5U can be set to record linear PCM audio, which will not import into CS4.  If the same camera is set to record AC3 audio, then the clips should import and play as expected.  This thread may help:

  • Need help with Premiere CS4 Export...

I currently shoot HD video with a Canon Vixia HF S10 digital camcorder (link goes to Canon's site). I shoot at the highest quality available, MXP 24 Mbps (1920x1080). When I bring the video over to my machine, it comes over as an .mts file which is the AVCHD file format (link goes to Wikipedia article on the format). I import these .mts files into Adobe Premiere (CS4). I import them into a AVCHD 1080p30 (29.97) Sequence. I do my editing, adding title screens, music, whatever. The problem comes when I go to export the final product into a usable format.  I've tried all different sorts of formats to export to and I can't get any usable results. If I select, for instance, H.264 HDTV 1080p 29.97 High Quality (a preset within Premiere) the video comes out extremely choppy...as in the audio will play and the video will hitch along and be mostly out of sync dropping whole sections of the video as it tries to catch up.
My end goal is to be able to export two versions...a higher quality (maybe burned to a DVD or Blu-Ray) and a lower quality (but still HD) for uploading to YouTube/SmugMug.
Any help or thoughts anyone may have would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm... My CS5/AVCHD 1st Impressions http://forums.adobe.com/thread/652694?tstart=0 includes a link to what I built for CS5
Your computer is going to be a bit slower, but I don't see anything really obvious that would cause the output to be choppy
But... have you considered converting to HDV to see if that edits better for you?
    Convert AVCHD to HDV http://forums.adobe.com/thread/390605?tstart=0
or use Cineform Neo Scene http://www.cineform.com/neoscene/
Added... Looking at my notes, I use a different AVCHD setting in CS5... have you tried other AVCHD project settings?

  • Getting 16bit video into Premiere CS4

Bear with me, as I'm sure I am a super noob. I went and did a bad thing...I think. I told a non-profit that I would make a video for them to sell for charity. The video is going to be a combo of video, stills, etc and I went ahead and shot all videos with my Nikon D90 camera. Settings were apparently set to standard and then I went out and picked up Premiere CS4 to take the video to the next level. I come to find out the video was taken in 16bit NTSC format and the program wants a minimum of 32. Is there anything I can do to get the videos I have into the Premiere workspace to create my video? Is it possible to up-convert? I've read about converting to TIF files, but I am going to need the audio off the video as well. I have to think there is a way around this somehow.
If you have any input whatsoever, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm behind schedule as it is and this is only setting me back further. Really hoping there is a quick fix out there. *crosses fingers*

I'm not even seeing MJPEG as an option when I start a new project.  Does that mean I do not have a proper CODEC installed?
How does MPEG Streamclip stack up against the two you mentioned?
    Thanks again!

  • Editing AE or Premiere CS4 projects in Audition 3?

Is there a way to import an After Effects CS4 or Premiere CS4 project with muitiple audio tracks/layers into Audition 3 and edit/balance each track individually? Have been using Soundbooth to clean up audio from individual video clips, but want to balance & add effects to multiple audio tracks prior to rendering final video. Thought Audition 3 might be a better option than using Premiere's audio mixer?

You can't do it quickly and easily but it is possible by making a rough rendered version (DVavi works well) to work with picture in Audition. Import that into Audition where the video and rough audio will be split to give you a guide track. You can then import all your individual audio tracks saved as .wav files into Audition to work on them and make a final mix to re-import back into Premiere for the final render.
