No audio in timeline/sequence

I use adobe premiere 7.0 and I have no audio in my timeline/sequence space, but when I put that same video into the clip field to the left it does play the audio, that obviously makes it very difficult to edit.  Any input?  Thanks.

  • My clips have a yellow line on the timeline sequence. Does this affect my video quality output if I don't render?

I use Adobe CS 6 to edit and I use Sony NX 3 to record. Every time I import my clips. It has a yellow line on the timeline sequence, even when I make new clip from the sequence.. My question is, does this affect my video quality output if i did not render the yellow line out? Please someone help me

Please see this link for more info about red and yellow bars - http://blogs.adobe.com/premierepro/2011/02/red-yellow-and-green-render-bars.html
If you shoot 1080p, you will likely have better results going to DVD than if you start with 1080i. It's hard enough downscaling with decent quality, then if you add in interlacing issues...
When exporting from Premiere to create a DVD, choose "MPEG-2 DVD" as the format, and then choose a preset such as "NTSC Widescreen Progressive".
There is a checkbox at bottom of export window for "Max Render Quality"  - use that for best downscaling results.
Use 2-Pass VBR encoding. Use a bitrate calculator to determine best bitrate for length of movie, or quick option is 560/minutes = bitrate. But don't exceed 8.0 on shorter movies. I typically round down a little for safety margin, such as 560/120 = 4.6, encode at 4.5 and no worries.
The export will result in TWO files, .m2v video and .wav audio, import both into Encore for authoring. Encore will convert the .wav to Dolby AC3, reducing file size. Video should NOT get transcoded. And as others said, don't expect HD quality when viewing a DVD...definitely not HD video any longer. But do be sure to use an upscaling player, this makes all the difference. If you run a yellow composite cable from DVD to TV, it will look horrible. Use HDMI with upscaling DVD/Blu-ray player for improved result.

  • Mixing Timeline Sequence Settings

    Hey all,
I have this sitcom that I've filmed. Episodes 1-4 are shot with a Sony HDRFX7. And then for Episode 5 (finale) we filmed it with a different camera. JVC HD something.
Problem is, our opening title theme song clip is made up of clips from episodes 1-4. (works fine in those episodes)/
But the same clip show must be used in episode 5 (with clips from episode 1-4). But the timeline sequence settings are different now. So the opening theme got all messed up when i copied it into the episode 5 timeline.
Is there anyway to fix this issue? I haven't tried manually fixing it. But is there anyway to have two different sequence settings? Or any other suggestions?

Please provide detailed sequence settings AND footage settings... (in this case two footage settings). select your footage, hit command-9.

  • No audio on imported sequences?

    Hi,
I've made my short film in parts in separate projects so that my computer could handle it more easily. Now that I'm done editing, I want to combine all the sequences, so I imported them all into a "final movie" project, but none of the audio works. It was working at first when I imported, I think it happened after the program crashed, I re-opened it and suddenly all the audio from my sequences was gone. The audio that I put in afterwards, outside of the sequences (songs and stuff) still works.
I've tried searching here, but none of the solutions I found worked. I've tried Match Frame with the CTI on the necessary sequence, that doesn't work (it does however work if I press shift+T and go into the sequence, then Match Frame, but my audio is very complicated and this only works with the few clips that still have linked Audio + Video, so this is not a viable solution for me). I also tried unlinking and then re-linking the video and audio of the sequences as someone here mentioned, but that didn't help either (unless I did it wrong; what I did was right click the sequence, select 'unlink', then select both of the now separate video + audio, right click, and click 'link' again)
I'm really upset with Premiere's ability to make everything so stressful, this was supposed to be quick so I could get my project done on time, but now thats looking rather grim. Any urgent help would be greatly appreciated!

A crash may have corrupted either your preferences or your working project
Reset Preferences = Press/HOLD Ctrl+Alt+Shift while starting program
What may help is to open a new project and import your old project

  • Insert a video clip with audio in a sequence

I've created a sequence out of three subclips and renamed and saved it.  When I try to add another video clip with audio to the end of the last subclip in the sequence it only adds the video, not the audio.
    Please advise

Edit the video with sound to your timeline, when you are ready to replace the video with pictures, lock the audio tracks by clicking on the locks at the left side of the timeline:
Clicking on the locks will lock the tracks and will protect them from being affected when you replace the video with pictures.
Remember to unlock them when you want to edit or add more audio to the sequence.

  • Cannot drag Audio Transitions or Audio Effects to Sequences in Premiere Pro 6.0.5

Have reinstalled Premiere Pro 6.0.5 because I cannot drag Audio Transitions or Effects to any Timeline sequences in my Projects. Have tried modifier keys, but to no avail. Any suggestions to fix this problem? Thanks

You're not trying to drag them to a sequence in a bin, are you?  That won't work.

  • Markers in the Timeline Sequence

    Hi,
I am now cutting again on FCP Studio and discovering how great the program is once again. While there are things AVID does better, I do find FCP has grown so well in the last few years. good to be back.
This brings me to the subject of markers - and there use within FCP.
Now I'm used to locators on an AVID (please bear with me), which allows an editor to mark the timeline sequences as well as the clips. Nothing different in FCP.
However I have noticed that an editor can mark the Sequence timeline and leave notes for themself or for future work such as scoring e.g.
But this isn't the same for clips.
Yes, markers can be added to a clip with readable info but only at the capture stage.
If you were to add a marker after that stage, the marker is just a position tool and nothing more. In fact, a dialog box can be brought up and info added but then with NO WAY to read it.
    how strange.
As an editor, being able to add markers to clips during the editing process would greatly help. notes for cutting, or dialog snippets would help aswell.
Timeline markers do not help since we recut all the time and the markers don't move unless they are done so manually. It isn't feasible to ask an editor to move hundreds of these things.
So unless someone has a great work around, I'd love to see Apple add this functionality to FCP.
    Any thoughts anyone?
    M

If you mark up a clip in the Viewer, and then drag that clip into the timeline, the markers will be there. As long as that sequence is in the same project. If you drag the clip onto a sequence that is in ANOTHER project, markers are are still there...BUT, when you match frame, you match frame to the clip on the drive, NOT the clip in the browser of the other project, thus the markers will not show up in the Viewer.
In a way it makes sense WHY it happens...because clips dragged into one project cannot find the original in another project with a keystroke. Thus a small drawback to the multiple project workflow.

  • Locking Non Synced Audio To A Sequence

I have some old audio files ( mostly that came - using old drum machines) - that I want to sync to logic.
In digital performer 4.6 - I am able to highlight a multi bar drum track - then click " analyze audio" - and it makes an attempt to guess at the beats per minute. Then I can change the sequence to that BPM - then slide the audio drum track ( and all other related audio tracks) - and match up the drum downbeats to the beginning of a bar - and thereby lock non-synced audio to a sequence very easily.
Question: how do I do this in logic 7.11?

Beat mapping is probaly what you want
if you have an exact loop use adjust tempo using region length/locators

  • How to export timeline sequence to .vob in premiere cs4?

    Hi All,
I am new to premiere cs4,
earlier i used premire 6.5 for video editing.
in premiere 6.5 for exporting video i had used procoder 2.0
after procoder instalation it comes as plug in premiere 6.5 by using procoder i can export timeline as my desired video format.
but now this procoder is not working in premiere cs4
after i installed procoder it is not showing in premiere cs4.
i tried export option in premiere cs4 but it has no .vob option for export
now how can i export timeline sequence as .vob file and
how can i work with procoder in premiere cs4? is there any chance to install procoder in premiere cs4?
    Thanks,
    Murali.

I agree with John T. Normally, the creation of a VOB (Video Object) container is done in an authoring app., like Adobe Encore, which he mentioned. Up through Premiere Pro 2.0, there were limited authoring capabilities, built in. However, with PrPro CS 3, those were removed, and all authoring functions were provided with Encore, which has shipped with PrPro, ever since.
Now, the VOB is just a container. It will have mostly the MPEG-2 DVD AV file, which can span several VOB's, which are only ~1GB in size. The first VOB might also contain the DVD Menus, and navigation instructions, all of which can only be ~ 1GB. If those elements are less, then the first part of the MPEG-2 DVD AV file will be in there also.
While I do not know one, there are probably utilities available, that can wrap an MPEG-2 DVD AV file into a VOB. Still, you have Adobe Encore, and it can do that, plus a whole lot more, so just finding a program to wrap the MPEG is likely a waste of time, unless you have other, very specific needs.
To utilize Encore, you have basically three ways (as of PrPro CS 3 and up) to accomplish that:
You can use ADL (Adobe Dynamic Link) to Import your Sequences/Timelines directly to Encore.
You can Export a DV AVI file, then Import that into Encore.
You can Export an MPEG-2 DVD file, then Import that into Encore.
Good luck, and if you do have some other, specific needs for the VOB container, let us know, as someone might have suggestions for that.
    Hunt
PS - If you do go the Encore route, and are not familiar with that program, I strongly recommend the very good, and very active Adobe Encore Forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/encore/encore_general

  • Missing timeline/sequence

Hi.  I have recently started using Premiere Pro CC after being a previous CS user.  After spending some time working on my first project in CC (and saving at regular intervals) I closed the project and went back into it the following day.  When I did so, the Timeline / Sequence window was completely empty so it appears that all my work has been lost.  I have seen at least one other person posting about a similar issue on here, but would welcome any ideas of how I might be able to get this back.  Perhaps I'm missing something as I haven't used Premier Pro for some time.  Is this a known issue?
    Many thanks,
    Phil

    Richard
I actually managed to solve the issue by going into the autosave folder and opening up one of the autosaved versions of the project!  Thanks for your reply though!

  • Timeline/Sequence missing after last update

    Hi,
I just have my Premiere Pro CC updated to latest version couple hours ago. After updated, when I tried to
go back to the project I've been working on for the past few weeks, I couldn't find some of the timeline/sequences
after I opened the project. I keep backups every few hours so tried to open earlier backups but those sequences are just missing as
they have never existed ! This is really scary because all my efforts for the past few weeks are gone. As I am on a Mac,
I tried to use Time Machine to go back to ex-version and found all my timeline/sequence are still there in my
project. I wonder if this is a bug in the latest version, I guess I will stay at ex-version for a while anyway.

Hi.  I have just started using Premiere Pro CC and have experienced this exact same issue.  I was continually saving the project after spending quite some working on it.  When I closed the project and went back into it the next day, the timeline sequence was completely missing.  Can you confirm if this is now a known issue and is there any way I can get my work back?

  • No audio heard from sequence during timeline playback

I am a new user to PPro CS 5.5, just opening my first project.
I have captured a few clips and brought them into the project. Previewing them in the source window, I see the video track play and hear the audio track.
I moved one of the clips onto the timeline and attempted to view it. I see the video playing but no audio is heard.
I opened the clip in Audition. the audio played there, no problem
I am sure there must be a configuration parameter to set but I cannot find it.
Can someone suggest where I can look?
    Thank you

Examining the source window playback settings, I see that realtime Playback has no external device selected in the drop down and Desktop audio is selected with the button. External Device is grayed out.
With these settings, I hear the audio track.
Examining the editing window playback settings, I see something very different.
The menu box is titled Blackmagic playback settings.
The only option entry in the menu box is: a choiceto "Turn off Dropped frame Warning"
I have a Blackmagic Intensity Pro card installed on my PC and used it to capture my video clip on mini-DV tape played from my Sony GV-HD700 videocasette.
Why am I seeing this BM menu reference only on the editing window? Is this the indication of my problem?
I went back to defining another sequence and the menu choice opened with the same path, as my previous first time at this, to a Blackmagic selection. I changed to a HDV 1080i selection for this 2nd sequence. When I dropped the clip into the 2nd sequence, presto, the sound was there.
Now I am wondering what is the blackmagic option for?
What is the difference between the source and editing window parameters?
That is left to when I have more time to dig into it.
    Thanks again

  • Accidentally deleted timeline sequence, audio and video tracks from my project!

I accidentally pushed Command+W and my timeline disappeared. When I brought it back under window it looked like this... It opens like this only under this project and not my other ones. Can someone help me out?
    Thank you for any advice!

Open one of the auto save projects.
And of course you did Save A Copy to another drive for back up?

  • Suddenly,  I can't see (or add) audio to my sequence!!

I have been cutting this project for months ... we are near completion and I need to add a few choice bits of source audio to my edit. I have a mix track (.aif) on A1&2 but if I put a clip in the Viewer that has audio ... I get no audio tabs in the timeline ... I have tried making an edit after the end of the sequence to see if the tracks are just hidden but all that cuts across is Video. If I open earlier sequences in the timeline, the same Viewer clip has audio-- that is editable. I've duplicated the sequence and opened it hoping default settings will prevail but I get the same result.
Is there a setting I have overlooked (or accidentally activated) which prevents audio additions to a sequence?
    I am thoroughly perplexed ...

    Thanks for the star.
One thing that concerns me though is that you didn't see the a1 tab at all.
For the sake of yourself and any others that might happen across this post you can get those tabs back by Control-Clicking in the patch panel (the area where those audio tabs live) and select "Reset Panel".
    Cheers
