No Audio in viewer

I have the newest FCP and in the middle of a project I was working on the audio in the viewer window just cut out. There is still audio in both the Canvas window and the Timeline. How do I get the sound back??

Do you see the audio waveforms in the Viewer but don't hear it when playing? Or do you hear it, but cannot see the waveforms? Or can you neither see or hear anything?
Have you tired trashing preferences?

  • 'No audio' when viewing Adobe Presenter

    Hi,
I am also unable to hear any audio when viewing lectures for class via adobe presenter- I am on a gateway netbook - not a MAC. I have installed the windows add-in (feb.2014 update) & cleared the browsing history with no success. No audio issues with any other programs. I am running Windows 7, have adobe9 and powerpoint 2010.
I do not need to run presenter to present files myself- I only need to watch the lectures provided by my professor. The progress bar at the bottom of the slide page reads "no audio"
    What else can I do?
Any other solutions would be extremely helpful!

The Presenter files worked for me the last time I taught my class.
After following the advice in this thread (uninstalling and installing Flash Player, installing the Connet add-in) the Presenter file did play audio. . . . ONCE. I thought it was solved but now I'm getting the NO AUDIO display again.
My colleague in the same department has no problem with audio using OS 10.6.8 on Safari 5.1.2 (Same as my set-up). He is also successfully playing it on his MacBook Pro 10.7.3 on Firefox (10.0.2).
I'm mystified. Has anybody an idea of where the Connect add-in gets installed? Maybe the folder just needs a good cleaning.

  • How to switch to audio waveform view in source panel

I'm using Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 8.1.0(81) on a PC.
I'm following a tutorial on Lynda.com and the version used in their video isn't quite as up to date as mine.
They recommend clicking on the options list in the Source Panel's tab to switch to audio waveform view to more precisely insert and In point based on the dialogue in the audio.
Problem is, my Source Panel's option list doesn't include anything for audio waveform.
Am I missing something? Did they move it? Or maybe I may have the wrong tool selected (is this a contextual menu that changes depending on what tool is selected?)?

    Hi [email protected],
Please post a screen shot to explain which option you are choosing and if possible, share the complete workflow.
You can switch to Video or audio waveform in source panel by clicking the buttons Drag Video only or Drag audio only option.

  • Audio Meters view in Dual Mono configuraton

Can't understand why, setting a clip in Dual Mono configuration in the event browser, FCPX set the Audio Meters window in Mono view
whereas the same clip put on the timeline set the Audio Meters in the normal stereo view
It didn't happen in previous FCPX versions

IIn the browser the meters are looking at the clip. In the timeline you're seeing the meters for the project, probably the default stereo.

  • Odd problem when adding audio from Viewer

When I load an audio clip into the Viewer, for some reason, in the Timeline there's no indication--on the far left of the TL--that audio tracks are available. Usually, there's 2 little thingamabobs that appear beside the track and you can move them to adjust which tracks will receive the audio clip. Now they don't appear. What up? Did I accidentally hit something on the keys? I can still set in/out on the clip in Viewer and drag it to the track I want, but I'd like to know the answer.

Right-click on the track indicators and choose RESET PANEL.

  • NO AUDIO WHILE VIEWING FLASH FILES

    HELLO EVERYBODY
I COULD NOT HEAR THE AUDIO IF I TRY TO VIEW FLASH VIDEO FILES, SAY IN YAHOO VIDEO, BUT IF THE FILE OPENS IN WINDOW MEDIA PLAYER I CAN HEAR THE AUDIO, COULD SOME ONE HELP TO FIX THE PROBLEM, THANKS

I have Sony camcorder DCR-TRV520E to and in the past I have recorded several movies on my notebook.
I have used Ulead Movie studio application and everything was OK.
10 minutes ago I tested it with Windows Movie Maker (Vista) too. Here some facts:
    - My Sony cam was recognized properly
    - Started Windows Movie Maker and chosen option IMPORT > From digital video camera
    - Browsed into right folder
    - On next step from alone application started rewinding videotape
    - Importing video started from alone and when finished I checked it and sound was there.
Later I chosen option "Publish to" > This computer and after 20 minutes everything was finished.
I use simply firewire cable. Nothing special.
I really don't understand what is wrong there.
Is this first time you do this?

  • Audio meters are not in synce with the audio when viewing frame by frame?

I am running Final Cut Pro 4.5 and my audio meters work just fine during playback. But when I am viewing the sound frame by frame the audio meters do not move at all. I thought it was a memory issue, so I added another gig of memory and the audio meters still do not move when I try frame by frame.
    Titanium G4 laptop   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I'm unclear if this also worked in FCP 4.5<<</div>
    It does.

  • Audio in viewer playback but no audio in canvas

I can't get any audio while playing the sequence on the time line. It is fine when playing the clip in the viewer. Please advise.

i tell ya, i had this very thing happen to me this morning although on my panther drive with fcp 4.5.
couldn't get audio to play through my vtr at all! tested a tape, the audio was working. booted to tiger and tested a fcp 5 sequence and all was well.
if you're following the normal procedures for getting audio to play out through an external device but it's not happening, you may have to trash your preferences. for the first time ever that's what i had to do and i did a search on this board for fcp rescue, found the link to where patrick sheffield is hosting it, downloaded the proper version and fcp rescue worked like a charm and i was back in business.
or you may have some other issue that i have no idea how to fix.....

  • Trouble moving audio from VIEWER to TIMELINE

I edited my audio track and it's in the viewer, I want to overwrite it to the Timeline.
The book says use F10 to drop audio clip, but my laptops F10 mutes audio.
I do not want to change my keyboard functions, what other way can I do this?

As Michel said, you should first make sure Expose and Spaces are not assigned to use the F10 key in System Preferences. Unless you use the "show all windows of this application" shortcut often, you can still easily access Expose by hitting your F3 key. Then, it should be a simple matter of clicking the "Fn" key at the same time as F10 in order to overwrite (e.g. Fn-F10).
It's impossible to remap the shortcut in FCE, the only way to use it on newer Mac keyboards is as described.

  • Unlinking Audio from Viewer

Is there a way to unlink my audio from my video from the viewer so that when I insert a clip into the timeline (from the viewer) it's audio does not come in with it?
I've tried to search the manuals, but gave up. They are too large. Thanks.
    Jeff

    Nevermind, I got it.

  • Random speedups & no audio when viewing video?

I've been having this odd occurence with my i5 macbook air 2013 on Mavericks. Sometimes, when I am viewing a video, the video would randomly speed up for a second, then resume to normal speed with no sound. After several seconds, the sound would return, resuming to normal playback. This has happened on Youtube, other streaming websites, and a media player app, MPlayerX, so this isn't app specific. This occurence happens rarely, and seems to happen at random times. Has anyone had this problem? Any solutions?

Thank you so much! Looks like it did the trick. I downloaded this last night but wasn't aware of how to use it and found step by step instructions and worked very well. Thank you again!

  • Audio clips in the Viewer window

When I double click on an audio track from the timeline, to place into the viewer window, the tab always reads "Stereo (a1a2)" indicating the top (uppermost) track when I have clicked on the (A7A8) track. I have tried using the "Auto Select" toggle with no change. Also, once an audio clip appears in the viewer, all my previous tabs such Video, etc. disappear...Any suggestions?

It doesn't seem to make sense that you are required to place the tracks into the viewer window for subsequent editing and the viewer has no way to identify what track you are working on???
That's because - as FCP sees it - although you are working from a clip already placed into the Timeline (hence the sprocket holes in the Viewer's scrubber bar) all the relevant info references the clip as it was captured or imported.
That is, even though your clip might be placed at 1:00:00;00 in the Timeline, it's In point is at, say, 0:35:24;17 in the clip's own timecode.
If you've clicked on audio, the Viewer will display audio as sequential tracks for the clip (remember FCP 5 can have up to 24 tracks of audio for a clip). In FCP's way of thinking a1a2 are it's way of letting you know that there are only 2 audio tracks (a stereo pair) in your clip.
And, yes, the logic can be quite dangerous.

  • Can i convert AIFF audio file into an MP3 file please?

Can i convert AIFF audio file into an MP3 file please? I will be doing this on an imac 2008 model. thank you for help!

Since this is the Logic forum and you may be working in Logic, you dont even need iTunes. To convert Aiff to MP3:
    1 - Go to the Bin>Audio Files
2 - Select the Audio File you want to convert ( and not a region or edit of it)
3 - Go to Audio File next to the Link icon ( Audio - Edit - View ) and down the menu to Copy/Convert.. gives lots of options

  • Easy way to add more audiotracks??? + Environment midi/audio question???

    Hi!
Let's say, when I open a new project I have standard 24 audio tracks.
But when recording I see that I will need more, is there an easy and fast way to add more tracks?
As I see it now, I Have to run the Logic Setup Assistent, add more tracks (let's say 40). Reopen the project, go in the environment, create a new audio object for every track I want to add, double click it and assign the correct track to 'channel'. If I need to add 10 more tracks I have to go over these last steps 10 times. Am I missing some handy quick trick here?
Also, the second part of my question:
when I open the environment window, sometimes it only shows "midi" and the "GS instrument drum mapped" and some other times it shows "audio" and an "overview of my mixer". This seems to happen at random and I don't know why. The mixer view is what I want (especially when I need to add tracks as mentioned before), but when I get the midi view I don't know what to do to get the audio/mixer view. Any help?

    Ok,
There is a way so you wont have to do the 10 setups.
Run the Setup Assistant and when it asks how many
audio tracks you want, always tell it more than you
will possibly need. I use 101. I know I will probably
never use that many but they are already and waiting
in case I do need more. This way you dont have to do
anything except go to the track menu and select create
new or double click the arear below the last
track and what ever track is highlighted, a exact duplicate
will appear. Then you just click and hold on it to make it
whatever kind of track you need from the menu that appears.
This first answer takes care of the second question. Since you
dont need to go into the enviroment to hook up new tracks.
Just so you know if you click and hold on the name of the layer
Midi, instruments, clicks and ports or whatever another menu
will appear letting you choose what layer you want to go to.
    This is the easy way!
