No audio input into logic 9 using Apogee Rosetta

Hi there, I've just upgraded to Logic Pro 9 and realized that all the inputs (1-32) are greyed out and unselectable when I go to make an input selection.
I'm using an Apogee Rosetta 800 and didn't have this problem on Logic 8.
Any ideas how to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Yes it is checked on. Sorry that wasn't clear in the last post. I tried checked off as well. But from what I have read it should be on.
Software monitoring only needs to be on if you wish to monitor through Logic's audio engine. Most audio interfaces also have a direct Monitoring function which allows you to monitor the inputs of the audio device. Direct monitoring virtually eliminates latency (except for converter latency which is minimal).
So... you've created a -MONO Audio- track in Logic? You then select the track and can see the I/O channel strip on the left hand side of the page.
There are two I/O buttons right above the meter, the bottom is output and usually set to 1/2. The one right above sets the input channel of the Audio device... make sure Record is enabled then select that button, from the drop down choose Input, how many do you show as possible inputs 1, 2, 3, 4?
Play the bass and select each input until you show some input level.

  • No Audio input into Logic 9 using Firewire Solo interface

I am trying to get audio (bass guitar) into an audio track in logic. I am getting a signal to the Firewire Solo panel in preferences. I have Link and out 1/2 selected in the audio interface panel. In Logic audio preferences I have selected Firewire Solo as the input device. I create a new Audio Track and I get nothing. I have tried every option when creating a new track. I have read that many people have had the same problem in other forums but I have yet to hear a solution. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Recording Streaming Audio Directly into Logic 8?

Is it possible to record streaming audio directly into Logic 8. I would like to grab some sound bites from web sites and various other places and lay them down as Audio tracks in Logic 8.
I know WireTap Pro will do it for $30 but I wonder if I could just do it in Logic.
Again, thank you for your time.

    Bee Jay wrote:
Or you could also use the loopback trick and just plug your interface's outputs >into it's inputs - be careful of your routing to avoid feedback though...
Hi Bee Jay .. I wonder if you would mind advising on this setup:
Normally I hear everything that comes out of the computer via the following route:
Out of computer via Firewire and into Motu828
Then out of Motu 828 and into Mixer channels 1 & 2 which are set to Monitor only. ie I hear all audio ( including streaming audio from computer) through my monitor speakers and the signal does not go back into Logic.
All the other mixer channels (3 - 16) I use for recording. Mics and line inputs routing these back into the MOTU (and then the computer) by buttons on the individual channel of the mixer. ie If the button is up on a particular mixer channel it comes out the speakers and does not record in Logic. If the button is down then that channel records into Logic (via a loom into the MOTU).
I was warned on no account to press the buttons down on channels 1 & 2 ( because those were the main outs to monitor Logic's signal ) ...
But that if I *switched off the channel output in Logic channel strip* - then I could press down those buttons on Channel 1 and 2 and route whatever audio was coming out of the computer ( iTunes, You Tube etc) back into Logic to record.
I did this some time ago and it worked ... but for some reason, now even though I have the Logic Channel outputs switched off, I still get the most horrendous howling feedback if I try to record Streaming Audio or iTunes.
If you or anyone else has advice on what would be causing this, I would be most grateful

  • Firewire Solo - No Audio input in Logic

Always there are problems with using live audio input with Logic. Why can't it plug'n'play like Garageband?
I'm getting no audio input to Logic Pro 8, even thought a signal is going into the 'Solo and into the Mac itself.
    I've done all the following:
    - Installed M-Audio's 1.9.3 driver update for SL
    - Selected the 'Solo in Logic prefs
    - Checked its selected in OS Prefs
    - Unplugged and replugged the 'Solo 'hot'
    - Restarted the Mac
    - Restarted Logic
    Any ideas people?
I'm right minged-off, as I'd finally time to do some recording this weekend. But sans audio input - no soap.

Try launching the M-Audio FireWire application and check the software mixer to make sure inputs or outputs aren't muted or turned down. I had that happen once.
BTW - Although the unit has 6 inputs (mic and instrument on the front, stereo line in on the back and digital coax stereo in), I believe only the two of the four analog inputs can be active at a time. Either the front pair, or the back pair.

  • MOTU 828 MKII input into Logic Pro

I posted about this earlier, but I think I can simplify/clarify:
I'm using 8 channels of ADAT pre-amp input connected to my MOTU 828 MKII.
Cuemix (MOTU's monitoring software) shows that all inputs are functioning properly.
But when I try to choose an input channel in Logic, I have a problem:
All 8 channels come through inputs 13 & 14 in Logic. Logic will allow me to select inputs 13 through 20 (they're not grayed out), but there's no audio coming to inputs 15 through 20. And, yes, I'm pressing "record" to enable the track.
I should be able to assign inputs as follows:
    ADAT 1 = Input 13
    ADAT 2 = Input 14
    ADAT 3 = Input 15
    ADAT 4 = Input 16
    ADAT 5 = Input 17
    ADAT 6 = Input 18
    ADAT 7 = Input 19
    ADAT 8 = Input 20
Any ideas on what's happening here?

The reason it is 2 out is because Logic doesn't recognise the names of the inputs. They are simply numbered. So, the front 2 inputs on the MOTU are inputs 1 and 2 in Logic. So the next input in Logic is 3, but the next input on the MOTU is on the back..... which (rear of MOTU) is input 1..... and on it goes.
    Logic 4, Motu (rear)2.
This got me at first until I realised that Logics input chanels were just numbered straight through, not differentiating between front, rear, analog, ADAT etc.... I think inputs 11 to 18 in Logic correspond to ADAT 1-8 on MOTU.

  • Record video into finalcut  and audio multitrack into logic in sync

    Hi,
I'm an experienced logic user but new to video.
What is the best way to record video and audio multitrack!! synchronously?
Can I record video direct to my harddisc and synchronously record audio into logic or soundtrack pro? We have two separate macs available.
-Can I connect finalcut with logic via rewire or do I need additional sync hardware?
-How can I start record simultaneously for finalcut and logic?
    -Do I need finalcut pro?
-Can I record video and audio directly and simultaneously into soundtrack pro or finalcut?
I currently work with a cutter who uses canopus but assign each video take to each audio take is so time consuming. There must be a better solution for video production.
    Any feedback appreciated,
    Thanks Eddie

I may be wrong about this, but AFAIK…
Can I record video direct to my harddisc and synchronously record audio into logic or soundtrack pro?
    No.
-Can I connect finalcut with logic via rewire or do I need additional sync hardware?
    FCP is not ReWire compatible.
-How can I start record simultaneously for finalcut and logic?
    You can not.
    -Do I need finalcut pro?
Maybe, but I can't say one way or the other. What is your goal with video?
-Can I record video and audio directly and simultaneously into soundtrack pro or finalcut?
You can record directly into FCP, either via FW or SDI (if you have supporting hardware)
I currently work with a cutter who uses canopus but assign each video take to each audio take is so time consuming. There must be a better solution for video production.
Not familiar with Canopus, so I can't comment.
    Any feedback appreciated,
Some editors find the term "cutter" to be an unfair characterization of what they do. We do waaaaay more than just cut out the bad takes!

  • PPC Audio Units in Logic intel in Rosetta?

Is there a way to run the PPC only Audio Units in Logic audio on a Intel mac by opening logic in Rosetta?
I tryed and this isn't working but maybe is there a way to tweak something to run this (even if it's slow).
    Thanks
    Imac 17" 2ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2 Go RAM

If the plugins you want to run are available as standalones (like soft synths or Guitar Rig), you can always run them in standalone mode and use Soundflower to route the audio to Logic. For the midi, use the IAC driver available in the AudioMidi Setup.

  • Using spdif input into logic to record..

hello, I am trying to record a track in logic 9 using spdif input..
It does not seem there is an option to choose a digital input, just input 1 and 2.
I am actually recording from a second mac running logic so i have two m-audio interfaces for each computer
so i am recording a stereo mix in logic on one machine goint to logic on my second machine.
There is a reason I am doing this!
    help please!

But not the standard Fast Track, that doesn't have s/pdif.
The Master Computer in this case is the playback computer, you don't need to do anything as far as setting the clock goes. The Recording computer must be set to external sync in THE FAST TRACK software, don't mess with Logic or it will get confusing, this is all done in the Fast Track software applet. The important part is that the recording computer's audio interface is synced to the digital clock coming in on the s/pdif cable (along with the audio of course.
Don't try and use MIDI to sync the two, Logic only send MIDI clock it doesn't receive it, might be able to make it work using MIDI Machine Control but the start commands will come from the recording computer not the playback one.  One thing at a time, the important thing is to get s/pdif working correctly.
What are you trying to do?

  • No Audio Input after Logic 9 upgrade

This was working consistently in Logic 8 for so long I can't remember how/where to fix this. After upgrading to 9, my audio channels no longer have analog input.
So when I create a new audio track and click on the I/O (specifically the Input), all I see for options is the Bus.
Also in Audio MIDI Setup, not sure what I used to see before, but for some reason I'm no longer able to switch the modes to 48KHz. They revert immediately back to 44.1 no matter what other I select.
Can someone point me to some basic places to look? Thanks, I need a refresher and I admit I'm feeling lazy to take this on right now... hopefully something simple I'm forgetting or overlooking. Thanks for the help.

In L9 you can now select different devices for In- and Output. So as soon as you have selected an Input device the "R" buttons will return to your trackheaders.

  • How to save User input into DB using webdynpro abap

    Hi,
Im trying to create an application using webdynpro abap.
I want to know how to save the data input by user, into a database table.
In my UI, I have a table control which is editable and user inputs data into this. I need to know how i can transfer this data to a DB table.

    hello,
u can do it by reading ur context node.
we bind our UI elements to context attributes of appropriate type .
we read their values using the code wizard or by pressing control+F7, click on radio button read node/attribute
here for ur specific case , u must have binded ur table control with the context attribute , now u need to simply read this attribute
eg suppose u have created a context node " cn_table"
      reading context node cn_table
       DATA : lo_nd_cn_table TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node ,
             lo_el_cn_table TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element ,
             ls_cn_table    TYPE wd_this->element_cn_table.
    *   navigate from <CONTEXT> to <CN_TABLE> via lead selection
      lo_nd_cn_table = wd_context->get_child_node(
                       name = wd_this->wdctx_cn_table ).
**    get element via lead selection
      lo_el_cn_table = lo_nd_cn_table->get_lead_selection(  ).
      lo_el_cn_table->get_static_attributes( IMPORTING
                 static_attributes = wa_table ).
here wa_table is the work area of structure type . u need to create a structure first with the same variables as there are the context attributes in ur node cn_table
    in ur
    now ur wa_tablecontains value
u can nw use appropriate FM to update , delete and modify the DB table using the value
u cn directly use SQL statements as well in the method of ur view , but direct SQL statements are nt recommende

  • Help Transferring Audio Tapes into Logic

I am using the headphone out jack of my tape player which I then connect to the input of my MAudio 410 which connects to my computer. In order to hear both channels of the tape, should the setting on the Logic track be Stereo or Mono? I made a transfer and one the speakers did not play any sound, so I'm wondering if it can be contributed to an improper setting.
    Thanks.

No - Use a lead that splits a stereo headphone jack to two mono jacks and connect both mono jacks to two separate inputs on your interface. Use a stereo track on logic. A mono track will only record one channel, in mono, hence the name...
You can get a splitter lead from a hi-fi or electronics shop.

  • Can't import audio files into Logic Pro

I have some original compositions previously recorded on a Windows PC that I want to work on in Logic Pro. However, despite converting them to .raw, mp3, apple tiff and having the original file as. Wav, Logic Pro doesn’t recognise them; they’re all greyed out when I try to import or open, even though they play ok in I-tunes? How can I resolve this?

.raw is not recognized by Apple. What format is this? Is this an audio file format?
.mp3... well, if you like that kind of degraded sound...
.tiff is an IMAGE file format. Whatever made you think this would work?
I think you have renamed the file extensions one too many times...and the Apple machine is confused. Try starting over.
Also, try to look at the info pane for each file, and make SURE it is seen as a .wav file AND that the file is set to read / write, not locked.

  • Pipelining Audio input to CMUSphinx using Gstreamer

The wikipage for CMUSphinx gives a python example (http://cmusphinx.sourceforge.net/wiki/gstreamer) - this is the pipeline setup with gst_parse_launch:
    self.pipeline = gst.parse_launch('gconfaudiosrc ! audioconvert ! audioresample '

I really think I'm missing something very obvious about how these libraries and devices are supposed to interact. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

So there is a gstreamer plugin autodetect, which allows it to pipeline the default recording using
    gst-launch-0.10 autoaudiosrc
. I'd like to mark this as solved but for future reference I actually still don't know where one normally gets the `audio source` name which gst_parse_launch expects (I'm looking at pactl list sources)

Well, I can import audio from an external Mike (iMic) that records to iMovie, plays in imovie playback, can drag to desktop and play in Quicktime, can record into GarageBand - BUT WILL NOT PLAYBACK THROUGH THE DV RECORDER OR RECORD...%$#$#@$ There is just no audio there. Importing CD audio from iTunes works fine. Recording into GarageBand works fine, but when I transfer that file to iTunes and then import to iMovie same thing ... no audio ...
I've wasted all afternoon trying to figure out why not. Any suggestions?? I have to have audio dub for the project I'm working on...
Also, I have the same audio "click" glitch with transitions that I'm seeing in the discussions ... and I haven't figured that one out either.

Spent an hour on the phone w. a "product specialist" at Apple who decided the problem must be w. my DV deck (SONY DHR-1000 .... not sure how he concludes that the deck can simply not receive the microphone audio when everything else comes through OK ... this never happened w. iMovie 4 ... only since switching to iMovie 5.
Also, see new entry ref. glitches and "pops" in audio w. transitions in iMovie 5 ... still trying to solve that mystery and the product specialist blames it on my video since we can put transitions between iPhoto stills and iTune music without the glitches.
