No audio on .avi file after using Aut

Friends,
Here is story.. I have a movie downloaded from net (I am not RIPPING DVD) in .avi format. but when I tried to play this file on ZVM I was facing problems of no audio(but junk chatter) and slow playing (though the movie plays nicely on Windows Media player or any other player)
I tried to reconvert this .avi file to another .avi file thru AutoGK, but the output of whole process is not having any sound (yeah the movie is playing on ZVM with correct speed but without audio).
In AutoGK--- advance options I used Mp3-VBR-28Kb
ps.
. ? and codec used was Xvid..
any idea what went wrong.
Thanks in advance for help.

hmm, well, it all depends on codecs, and of course I would expect it to play fine on the pc
porting it over to a portable media player might insert issues
is the vision m capable of playing vbr audio is the question

  • No longer audio on .avi files when attempting to use Elements 9

I have compiled 20 years of videos from family videos and converted them to .avi files.  I now want to edit these files into other smaller videos to give to my children.  I have Premiere Elements 9.  When I get one of these files using PE9 there is no longer audio on them.
There is audio if I play them on Windows Media Player but no audio on Quicktime Player.
I can edit in Windows Movie Maker but not in PE9.
The Quicktime Player states the following:
Format: Motion JPEG Open DML, 640 x 480, millions
    Movie FPS 29.97
    Playing FPS 29.97
    Data Size 1.94 gb
    Data Rate 8.67 mbits/sec
    Normal Size 640 x 480 pixels
    Current Size 640 x 480 pixels
I have a Dell Inspiron 530, 4.0 gb RAM, 32- Bit Windows Vista system.  Plenty of Hard Drive availability.
I purchased PE9 because I thought it would be superior to Windows Movie Maker.  Very frustrated.

    Hi Bill,
The .avi file is a compilation of videos from multiple cameras from over the years.  There is no 1 camera.  That is why I am confused here.

What camera produced the MJPEG files, wrapped in the AVI container? The reason that I ask this, is because camera mfgrs. love to tweak CODEC's, and some take that tweaking to an extreme. If you have the utility disc, that came with the camera, it is probably best to install their particular version of the MJPEG CODEC. The Morgan, or the MainConcept might work OK, but having the exact version, from the camera mfgr. will get you as close, as is possible, and will save having to buy an MJPEG CODEC, that might not be perfect. Now, on that utility disc, one might have one of three possible choices: The MJPEG CODEC might be a separate installationThe MJPEG CODEC might install along with the camera's driverThe MJPEG CODEC might install with an included editing/cataloguing program (most common nowadays), and even if you do not use that utility, having the proper version of the MJPEG CODEC installed on the system, will get you as close, as is possible Good luck, and let us know if you have the utility disc for that camera. • How do you convert .AVI files for using in iMovie without losing the original clip time and date

Hi everyone! does anyone know how to convert .AVI files for using in iMovie without losing the original clip time and date? Handbrake, MPEG Streamclip and Evon all replace the original timecode with the date of modification. This is very frustrating when you are trying to keep the chronology right. I know that if you upload the files to iMovie from one device the chronology isn't a problem, but I'm adding video files from a couple of iPhones and a couple of camcorders. any help much appeciated.

  • Can you write an avi file without using imaq

Just curious if anybody has tried to write an avi file without using imaq vi's? So far I have only found sketchy info on the file format and am looking for some help on the file structure etc. Any references or example avi files with explanations of format would be most helpfull. Thanks in advance -

    Absolutely.......
An AVI video file is actually structured in the same way as most Windows media files or RIFF files as they are generically known, thus the description below is applicable to for example WAV files etc.
Thus the file always begins with the four byte code RIFF and continues to use this generic four byte coding known as FOURCC, four-character code or FCC throughout.
There are then specific requirements for each different media content and the sections that must be included to define a valid file structure of the desired meadia type.
Each section or 'CHUNK' is defined by an FCC (RIFF being the first) with facility to include additional FCC's as required. The FCC is followed by a length descriptor and then the data (just for fun the odd CHUNK does not quite fit this very general overview). These chunks then align to even word boundries so padding zeros are often inserted at the end of a CHUNK to make it all nice and neat.
It is a requirement that software that does not recognise an additional custom CHUNK should ignore it, this is very easy as all you have to do is use the length descriptor to 'jump' over the CHUNK concerned.
The following is an example from the 'CLOCK.AVI' found on windows computers for a number of years...
    RIFFjB AVI LISTΠhdrlavih8
Here you can see the RIFF followed by a four byte length descriptor (4 Gigabytes), followed by various sub CHUNKS in this example the sub CHUNK is an AVI (note that it is actually 'AVI ' to conform to the FCC).
So the CHUNK structure looks a bit like this:-
    RIFF ('AVI '
    LIST ('hdrl'
    'avih'()
    LIST ('strl'
    'strh'()
    'strf'()
    'strd'()
    'strn'()
    LIST ('movi'
    {SubChunk | LIST ('rec '
    SubChunk1
    SubChunk2
    ['idx1']
For more information on all this you need to read the RIFF specification documentation on the MSDN website or on the MSDN Technet materials. Most of the stuff you will immediately locate will refer to the AVI file format as that is where most of the recent effort has been focused.

  • Converting avi files to use on ipod

does anyone know of a free program to convert avi files to use on my pod
i sed to use isquin but it doesnt seem to work anymore- got a video ipod with no videos on it!
    thanks

I have never been able to get Handbrake to recognize many file formats, at least not the version that runs on Tiger.
MPEGStreamclip; you need to export the file. I don't have an ipod so I don't know what format.
My feeling is that you might get more concrete assistance if you asked this on an ipod forum. At least there everybody will likely own one. On the other hand they may therefore also be able to afford the newest computers and tell you to run something on a newer OS.

  • Capturing audio from avi file

I want to capture just the audio from avi file. Here is what I did. I dragged the avi into garage band and saw a separate audio and video track. I tried to import the just the audio into itunes but it would only let me import both video and audio. I decided to burn the audio to cd and then import it into itunes. This seemed to work but I would like to know if there is a better method. I figure there must be. Anybody out there tried this?

i'm not near my GB machine to test this, but see if you can Share to Disk and make sure the Compress checkBox is not selected.

  • No audio for avi files in Quicktime

Hi, like many others I'm having difficulty trying to restore audio to avi videos. It seems to be a codec related problem but I'm not sure.
    My Quicktime folder contains:
    AC3 MovieImport.component
    AppleIntermediateCodec.component
    Flip4Mac WMV Export.component
    Flip4Mac WMV Import.component
    Perian.component
Is there another codec I need or do I need to delete one or more I already have?
Any help would be much appreciated

But then why has Quicktime played these avi video files with audio in the past? What has happened to the audio data? It's been mentioned by some that problems like this occurred after the 7.5 Quicktime update?
Frankly, I leave that up to you to find out. However, here are the logical options as I see them:
    1) The inspector is not seeing any audio because there is none.
1a) If the files never played audio, then it never contained any audio in the first place.
1b) If the files previously played and currently do not, then
1b1) Either you converted or deleted the audio content (check the "Properties" window if you have QT Pro or use either the Finder "Get Info" or another application to re-check for an audio track)
1b2) Updating QT or the addition of another codec has created a component conflict and you will have to run a conflict test to discover where the problem lies. Basically, updating the QT structure or adding a new component can alter the order that the QT Player/QT applications may call components. In some cases the components may "argue" over which component should be used. In other cases, the component being called first may be in conflict with another installed component whereas the previously "first called" component did not. (I.e., see hoodstar's recent "SALVATION" revelation comment regarding the same problem.)

  • No link to the local .avi files after exporting Crystal report as .pdf

    Hello all,
    The overall scenario is like-
My application fires a query on SQL Server database and result of that query is stored in a Dataset. This dataset is set as a datasource to the Crystal report.  Now some, records (returned by the query) have .avi files(i.e. Event Videos which are stored on the local hard disk) associated with them. I have stored these .avi files in a specific path on local Hard disk say "C:/EventVideos/*.avi" .   I used a special format in these avi files name. (like - "EventVideo_1.avi" (This is for 1st event), "EventVideo_5.avi" (This is for 5th event)etc. to identify which avi is for which event. All events do not have avi files associated with them)
Now, I take one Text Object in crystal report. Using it's Format editor created a formula for hyperlink as -
          "file:///c:/EventVideos/EventVideo_" + {DataTable1.EventID} + ".avi" .
EventID is the field of dataset which has ID's (like 0, 1, 2,  3, 4 etc) of all resulted events. It is of a String data type.
Now when I export, my report as .xls, .rtf, .doc, I can open the avi files. When I bring cursor on this Text Object, cursor get change to Hand and after click on it avi file start to play.
But if I export it as .pdf, it does not contain the link for avi files. When I bring cursor on this Text Object , it does not change to Hand, and after click on it nothing happens. No video play.
I stick to this problem. What should be done in this case?
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi, my mac has stopped playing some avi files (that used to work). I can see the video. Does anyone know why and what i can do? My version of quicktime is 7.6.9.

Hi i have avi files saved in iphoto that i used to be able to play through quicktime. However in the last few weeks i cannot play many of these files. I can see the videos and click on them but nothing happens (i have version 7.6.9 of quicktime). Does anyone know why this has happened and what i can do about this?
    Thanks.

What do you mean by what audio/video formats are involved? These are all files from several digital cameras.
As previously stated, AVI is a file container. It is somewhat old and its originator, Microsoft, dropped official support of it over a decade ago. However, it remains popular with PC users since almost any valid audio and/or video compression format can be stuffed to the file which synchronizes the content by interleaving the individual audio and video frames. The compression format is the specific manner in which the audio and video data are encoded as it is placed in the AVI container. You can find the compression format by inspecting the file in the Finder "Info" window, or in the "Inspector" window of the QT player (or other media player) if the file can be opened.
For instance, one popular compression combination would be to place DivX encoded video and MP3 audio in an AVI file container. However, neither DivX nor MP3 is natively supported by the QT player. (Although iTunes will natively support the MP3 audio.) Therefore, people who wish to play such files in the QT 7 Player would normally install either the DivX component or Perian but not both. Either installation will independently play such files in the QT Player, but if both are installed, the file will usually stop working since these two codecs can create a playback conflict.
However, the AVI container could just as easily contain DV along with DV audio. In this case, the file should play correctly in QT since this compression format is natively supported by the basic component configuration that comes in every current OS installation. Therefore, if such files suddenly stopped playing, this could be an indication that a component has been moved or deleted or that your system or QT embedded structure has become corrupted.

  • PE 10 missing audio from *.avi files?

    Hi,
New PE 10 installation.  When I add a *.avi file to the timeline or sceneline, I am missing the audio tracks. Don't see the audio tracks.  Even when I press the Play button above, there is only video and no audio.  But in the Media section, when I select "Edit Original", the avi file plays with audio fine.  What am I doing wrong?
    Thank you,

  • No audio with .avi files.

This has just started to occur recently, probably with the latest update to QT. When I play a .avi file, the video shows up fine, but the audio is strangely absent. My computer volume isn't muted, nor is the volume on Quicktime itself. Any thoughts or explanations?

I have had this problem for a couple of years on all of my Macs across various OS and QT versions and as yet have not resolved it.
I have tried removing the XviD_Codec 1.0 alpha component from HDD/library/quicktime/components, as suggested by another user here but this has still not resolved it on my system.
There is a simple work around if you simply wish to watch these movies with sound.
Download VLC player (It's a free application) and here is the link. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
This will play your AVI files complete with sound without any problems.
I know it is not exactly a fix for the problem but id does offer you a solution to being able to watch your movies with sound. Hope this is of use to you.
    Cheers

  • No Audio in AVI Files

I'm trying to put all my wife's videos from her Casio Exilim camera into one continuous video, but when I open them in Final Cut there's no audio with them. And there is no audio if I open them up in Quicktime also. We've been adding the videos over a period of a year now, and I know that they have had audio before. I can also take the video clips from my Mac and play them on my Windows computer with Windows Media Player, and the audio plays on it. So I know the audio is still there along with the video clips since it plays on my PC, but why isn't it playing in Final Cut or Quicktime? They are also AVI video clips if that helps.

Your avi files need to be converted to QuickTime in order to work with them in FCE. That may or may not be your audio problem.
You can use MPEG Streamclip, a free utility, for the conversion:
    http://www.squared5.com/
Open your avi file in Streamclip and export to QuickTime with the following settings (for standard def dv in the USA):
    Compression: Apple DV/DVCPRO - NTSC
    Frame Size: 720 x 480
    Audio should be AIFF @48kHz.

  • Encore adds random static (Popping and Crackling) to audio from AVI files

We spend the whole day today trying to debug this problem... any help would be greatly appreciated.
We have a large conversion project where we are capturing VHS videos and converting them to DVD.
For those that require chapters, we are using Encore CS4.
All of the videos were captured the same way, in an AVI format.
We have found that when we load them into an Encore CS4 timeline, we will hear random static sounds -- pops in the audio.
We believe the AVI file is clean.  We can watch the video in Windows Media Player, and the audio is fine.  We can burn the AVI file to a DVD video using another low-end package (Power Director) and the DVD is fine.  The AVI files have been run on other systems, and the audio crackling sound does not present itself.
But when we try to use Encore, some of the files exhibit the crackling sound.  (Note that not all of the files have this problem.  But those that do exhibit the problems will exhibit them every time.)
We tried loading them into Premier -- same thing.
So, this problem seems to be limited to Adobe tools.
We are running Windows 7 on an Intel i7, ATI Radeon card... a really fast, strong, stable system.
At this point we're not sure what to try...
We have attempted to pre-encode them using Adobe Media Encoder.  Same results, regardless of which audio settings we try.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
