No audio on disc

I am burning a DVD on a blue ray burner with DVD settings, I burned one disc, the sound came on only after a while during playback.  I burned another disc using identical settings and there was no sound file at all.  Is it a problem with Encore or with the blue ray burner, what can I do?

I burned one disc, the sound came on only after a while during playback.
This line caught my attention, but with the second outcome, I sort of by-passed it. However, and especially with higher-end players, and DD AC3 Audio, it can take a few seconds for the player to lock in on the Audio. For that reason, I recommend leaving about 02 sec. of silence, at the very start of the DVD. As I usually do a fade up from black (several reasons for this), I just begin my Audio within the "black." With the second outcome - no Audio - I rather doubt that this is happening, but thought it worth mentioning.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Importing/converting DVD-Audio/Dual Discs

Hello, this is my first post.
I just got the 30 GB Video Ipod today.
I am not having any luck with iTunes importing and converting my dvd-audio/dual discs.
The CD side gets recognized by iTunes but sounds VERY scratchy when it is converted to a format to put on my ipod. Strangely, it also sounds scratchy when I play it on windows media player or any other software player. It also goes silent for a bit sometimes. But it plays fine outside of my computer (e.g. my car) and it isnt scratched.
I flipped it over to the DVD side and iTunes doesn't recognize it so I can't import and convert it. The DVD side sounds fine though when I play the audio on my computer or on an outside player (e.g. my car).
Is there anything I can do?

  • FCS 2 Audio Content Disc 1

I recently purchased FCS 2 used on ebay.
Audio Content Disc 1 came as a white Apple replacement disc.
when I tried to install said "disk error"
when I open the disk in Finder, there is an alias icon.
show original says it can't be found.
Anyone out there know where I can find a replacement disk or dmg?
    Thanks

Yup, pretty much the same, though I can't guarantee it byte for byte.
The huge folder post installation is called "Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro" and it's 22GB. Yup, you read that right: 22GB. That is one major folder, full of loops, sound effects, foley etc. Massive and, if you don't want it, check the following thread for how to get rid of it.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1252383
One thing that might have made a difference is that there is a new lossless compression format (CAF files) and the Logic Studio uses that format. Final Cut Studio didn't have that at its release and it's likely that the Soundtrack Pro audio DVDs have not been remastered to use the new file format, hence the disks being all but identical.
    Pete
BTW: in case others are inclined to pick holes, CAF is not strictly a format, it's a container or wrapper and can hold Apple lossless format, AIF, text data and all sorts of other goodies. So there

  • No audio on disc image or on DVDs played in DVD player

    Help, I'm stuck.
I have made several movies in iDVD and burned them successfully. They always played with no problem. Now I am trying to play them in the DVD player and there is no audio. There is also no audio when I make a disc image. And there is also no audio when I try to copy on of my movies back onto the disc utility. I am also not getting audio from commercial DVDs in the DVD player. All of these DVDs still work fine in my regular DVD player hooked to the tv.
    I have version 6.0.4
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi
Most common origin is .mp3 .avi or other strange audio format - or -
    imported audio from iTunes.
Medicine: Copy out as audio .aiff then use this in the movie then to iDVD.
If the DiskImage doesn't play OK - don't waste to burn DVD discs from it.
    *OTHER THINGS*
Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
    • Program miss-match: iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
    • Program miss-match: iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match: iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
    • Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
iDVD pref file resides: Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
    and is named: com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iDVD.
    Last resort:
from Craig: Solved the problem!! Finally!! I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive, emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option and I am up and running.

  • IDVD - No Audio in Disc Image

    Hi,
I've started experiencing this issue with version 6.0.3. When I save my iDVD project as a Disc Image and play it on my computer, there is no audio (volume) when the video plays. First time, I didn't bother to test the disc image and burnt it to a DVD and found that there was no audio when I played it with my DVD player. But then when I directly tested the disc image, there was no audio in it either.
I went through a few posts on this discussion forum. One of them suggested using an earlier theme from 5.0. I tried that too with the same result. For some reason, there is no audio in the disc image. When I play the footage directly in iDVD, it plays fine with full audio, so I don't think there is any issue with the way it was exported from iMovie to iDVD.
I've used the same DV video camera before to import to iMovies and and then export to iDVD. I've never had this problem before. Anyone else facing this issue?
Also, I have tried exporting to Quicktime directly from iMovie and I get a pop up saying some unknown error was encountered.
    Please help!

I've had the same problem (as have many others), and I've found both an odd related symptom and a weird fix, not mentioned in any of the posts I've seen. I also use iDVD6.0.3.
First, the odd symptom: after you build the non-working disk image, check the VIDEO_TS files that it produced. In my case, they all had a date-time stamp about 36 hours into the future. From a programmer's viewpoint, this looks suspiciously like a memory leak (i.e. data overflowing its allocated bounds and corrupting some program instructions or other critical data).
Second, the weird fix: I have an iBook that still has iDVD5 on board. I used that to suck in the iMovie6 project, and it built a working disk image with no problem at all. (And the dates on the VIDEO_TS files were sensible.)
In my opinion, this is a major bug in iDVD6.

  • Audio DVD disc (Encore 2.0) - adding chapters without gaps in sound?

I'm currently building an audio-only DVD for a project that is 24 hours of continuous sound. It consists of 26 separate sound files, each just under an hour. When one file ends and the next begins, instead of a gap-less flow I get about a half second of silence. Does anyone know how to place separate sound files together with chapters so it will play completely uninterrupted?

    Jim.
This problem (WaveLab 5) is caused by your source file being straight WAV. To get a WAV file larger than 2Gb on any 32-bit system it must be encoded as WAV format extensible. AIFF is a good workaround as well.
It's not the fault of WaveLab, but the source file.
    A 24-hour file on a DVD-A?
Not certain you can do this.
we can assume - depending on the music - around 40 to 60% reduction in data. So, 24 * 60 = 1440 minutes
    Data Rate is:
    48(KHz) * 16 (bitrate) * 60 (seconds per minute) * 1440 (minutes) * 2 (tracks) = 132,710 megabits.
Average MLP compression is around 40% (could be higher depending on the music) so 132,710,400 * 0.6 = 79,626 Megabits.
So far, so good - the total capacity of a DVD9 disc is as follows:
    8,500,000,000 (bits) * 8 (bit/bytes) / 1000000 (bits/megabits)
    = 68000 Megabits available.
So we have a shortfall in space here.
Lets see what happens if we reduce to 44.1KHz (This sample rate is DVD-A legal).
    44.1 * 16 * 60 * 1440 * 2 = 121,927Mbits * 0.6 = 73,156 Megabits.
It would depend entirely on exactly how much data reduction the MLP system will give us, and because this is a lossless system it cannot be accurately calculated (VBR = Reduction in Data, CBR = Reduction in Quality)
So I am sorry, but unless you get lucky on the encoding it is not going to fit with 24 hours of lossless material on a DVD9 disc.

  • Ghosted audio scratch disc in FCE

So I've been FCP and FCE for years. Today I was digitizing material into FCE just fine. Then I switched tapes. No, no matter what I do, I can't capture audio. When checking my scratch disc setup, everything is checked but audio is ghosted which means audio is not being captured. Since FCE doesn't have the editable options that FCP does when it comes to issues like this, I'm limited in what I can do. I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to get the audio to "wake up". The only thing that happened that might have effected this is that the external drive became disconnected during the tape change so it may have messed with the automatic device settings or something. But I've rebooted, closed projects, started new projects, etc but I just can't seem to get the audio up and running. HELP!

Remember that you can't hear audio in FCE whilst capturing.
Have you got View>Video Out>Canvas Playback selected?

  • How to play dvd-audio or dvd-a discs on iMac?

How do I go about playing dvd-audio encoded discs on my iMac? I have been unsuccessful in finding a decoder that will recognize this format. I don't want to invest in ripper software unless I KNOW it will read and convert this format. Many thanks.

I can play my DVD Audio discs on my MacBook Pro. On all my DVD Audio discs it shows DVD Audio and Dolby Digital. When I insert a DVD Audio disc the DVD player opens and plays the disc. Rou will only get Dolby Digital sound quality though and not DVD Audio sound quality.

  • Menu audio will play during preview but not when disc is burned.

    Encore CS6.
Menu music plays fine in preview. I know that the file is good. No menu audio after disc is burned. Have tried several different transcoding options. There is menu video too that is working fine.

Here are notes I couldn't find before I posted that; just general re testing methods:
Mounting an iso (or building to a folder) is a great way to test.  There are some differences, but it is a great method prior to burning to a disk.  The main difference is simply computer vs dvd player - autoactivate on a button doesn't work with a mouseover, and you can be fooled into thinking your navigation does, or does not, work.  (Even on the computer, don't use the mouse for testing, use the "remote" in the player controls.)
Encore preview is an emulator, like computer DVD players, that attempts to predict what will happen when a disk is played on a set top DVD player. It has always had issues with some predictions not being accurate. Some inaccuracies are like this one: Encore preview does not work, and a burned disk will. Others are the opposite; it works in Encore preview, and not in a DVD player. The point to be made here is that you cannot rely on Encore preview. You also cannot rely on computer playback of a built image or folder. And, in the end, you cannot rely on playback on one DVD player - some disks work on some players and not on others.

  • Error 4260 - I can't burn a disc

Been looking for solutions all day.
When ever I try to burn something it gets to about 1/3 of the way and then ejects and gives me the 4260 error message. Using Sony CD-R Audio 80min discs. I've tried using other discs. It wasn't doing this last week. I was thinking it was the CD type, but I'm not sure. I've been told to use a reg fix.

  • Can't install Audio content

I am unable to install the audio content for Soundtrack on FCS2 . During the process the installer will ask for Audio content disc 1 ,I insert the disk and then after a few seconds the installer asks for the Final Cut Studio install disk . I insert that and get the message that there was an error with the installation and to try again . All the other apps for FCS2 install fine . The only issue is installing the Audio content disks. Apple sent me a replacement Audio content disk and I had the same issue . I even tried installing directly from the Audio content disk as opposed to going through the FCS2 installer . This time it seemed to install disc 1 but gave me the error message when I installed disc 2 . Any ideas ?I have been talking to Apple but there is no resolution yet . They told me to make a disc image of the replacement disc and try to install from that using a different user account . I'm waiting for the disc image to be created .

Has anyone found a solution for this? I am also having the same problem with installing the audio content. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Audigy2 ZS DVD-Audio Probl

I have just installed my audigy 2zs sound card. I have figured out and fixed the assorted bugs except one. I am having trouble getting DVD-Audio disks that have CMMP encryption to play. I have been to this forum and others like it and it seems that either windvd or the creative have a problem with the CMMP encryption.
Has anyone found a fix for this?
Those that are able to play dvd-audio disks what dvd dri've are you using?
I currently have two different dri'ves that I have tried it on to no avail.
    NEC ND-3520A
    Lite-On SOHD-67T
I have also tried a different software DVD player, PowerDVD, it didn?t work either but it reported that it could find the CMMP keys and then went and played the Dolby Digital part of the disk.
I would appreciate any insight into fixing this problem.

Hey , maybe a silly idea , but did you try it with another DVD-rom/ram. (oops you already did that)
    This because with my older Asus E66(not the p & p2) i'd also a won't play encrypted dvd-a (won't even read , get a 0MB disk). I've solved it by bying a new DVD-rtom(they ain't that expensi've nowadays) and i can play DVD-A perfectly.
I play them with the Creative DVD-Audio player. But when i want to make copies i use PowerDVD6, and record from what you hear , because with creative DVD-A player it's impossible to record from encrypted DVD-A.
I'm so satisfied about DVD-A , that i boycot SACD already, LOL DVD-AS offers much more , but it's more expensi've for record companies to make , so they prefer SACD , but we want ... MORE
My DVD-A on my original Creative software and PowerDVD6 :
    REM-Automatic for the people.
Iron Maiden-Dances Of Death (88KHz !!!! kicks asses)
    Gary Numan-Anthology
    The Crystal Method-Legion Of Boom
    Linkin Park-Reanimation
lol and the Creative DVD-Audio Sampler Disc , with o so decent music
But here in Holland they're hard to find but there're about 600 DVD-A titles , record companies wants us on the SACD , but i want DVD-A, i'll never by a CD-Audio again, 2channels = like mono , i want da 6 channels with real sample rate Message Edited by www_96KHz_tk on 03-02-2005 03:59 PM

  • Quick question about Creative DVD audio pla

    Hi all,
I loaded all the drivers and software that came with my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS. The kit came with a DVD audio sampler disc. When I put the DVD audio disc into my computer DVD ROM dri've, it automatically navigates to the Creative Audio DVD player. The only problem is that the "play" button is greyed out. It will not play the disc. It show in the staus window that the sampler disc is there and ready to go. I have tried every button but can not get to play.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Have you tried contacting Apple to get a replacement disc? I wouldn't want a damaged disc.
