No audio on downloaded movies, codec issue???

Hello,
I hope I am in the right section to post this question, apologies if I am not. I have recently downloaded a few movies and mini series via a torrent website that have saved on my hard drive as avi files. The visual is perfect, however I have no audio. Is there a way to fix this? someone has told me that it may be a codec issue, although I do not know what to do to fix this, or what application I need to retrieve the audio. I have had a look on version tracker, but don't fully understand what the whole codec thing does.
If more info is needed, please post back. sorry if this is a no brainer issue!

Ok, so now I have another problem. a couple of the previous items I had downloaded were playing fine, audio and all, and now I have gone back to play these movies again to test the sound, and the sound has stopped on these now too! I have no idea what is going on with this. I am using quicktime to playback the movies, if that helps.

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

Help! ipad2 no audio on download movie. but has an audio on macbook pro

i downloaded a movie on ipad2. the video quality is perfectly fine but there is no audio. when i play it to my mac. its perfectly fine! The video was converted using e.m. total video converter for mac version 2.4.1. Please HELP ME.

i use a defective converter thats why their was no audio. i try to use the handbreak converter and it works perfectly fine. now i enjoy watching movies from my ipad2 and iphone 3g

No audio during downloaded movie playback

Hi there, after downloading a movie off apple tv there's no sound. Apparently this is common. I am up to date with version.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Have you tried adjusting the "Audio Out" and the "Dolby Digital" settings in settings > audio and video? It may be worth trying several combinations of these settings, although typically it is the "Dolby Digital" setting that causes most problems for users.
Also make sure that you have correctly mapped the input port on your sound system to the output, if you are unsure about how to do this, refer to the manual that came with your sound system.
Have you tried playing various content sources (i.e. podcasts, music, iTunes Store video, other video etc), do you have the same problem with all types of content? If you use optical you might also check that you can see a red light at the end of your optical audio cable. Is your optical audio cable plugged straight into your sound system, or does it go through a switch or other device?

Audio in downloaded movie in itunes not resulted as stated

I just bought "Lord of Rings, special extended edition" on the itunes store.
It stated on itunes that audio would be sorround 5.1 but when I play the files on my macbook pro with snow leopard it only plays in stereo (no sorround).
The file info also states audio is dolby 5.1 but when playing only the stereo option is highlited on itunes player.
Was I ripped?

*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Delete iMovie pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
iMovie pref file resides.
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named. *com.apple.iMovie.plist *
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iMovie.
• Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
• Garageband-fix. Start it, Play a note and Close it. Re-try (Corrects an audio problem that hinders iMovie)
• Screen must be set to Million-colors
• Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK (not relevant for iMovie’08 or 09)

From LKN 1935. (in this case = iMovie HD (5), I tried it all, but nothing worked.
Your answer (above) has been helpfull insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that
there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled
iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos)
to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before.

I have a problem with the audio on a movie I downloaded

I am having a problem with the audio on a movie that I downloaded. It is scratchy and difficult to listen to. How can I fix this?

Depending upon what country that you are in (films can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the film from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes (or delete it from your iOS device and redownload it via the Purchased tab in the iTunes Store app on it)
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download films or if it re-downloads with the same problem then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

Importing an Avid 6 edited film in .MOV into Adobe Premier CS6 for re-editing but codec issues!

Hello,
My first time using Adobe Premier CS6.
I have edited a film on Avid 6 but it's far too big.
I want to import this film into Adobe Premier CS6 for re editing so I can export it as a H.264 and make it small enough to post online (currently it's 9gb)
I have tried importing it but I'm running into CODEC issues eeven though it's a .mov. What can I do?
Please help, it's all new to me.

TS1424 I'm having issues downloading movies "err = 3050" ?

I'm having issues downloading movies to my ipod account. The message reads "This computer is already associated with an apple id" It says then has an error code "err = 3050" any idea what this means? I just entered these movie redemtion codes on this computer a few days ago as well as older movie purchaces i have made'

hello im having issues downloading movies i had bought before, in the download section the movie is there to download but when i clickit an error msg said download error tap to retry i do and unable to download movie pops up the pad has enough space not sure why is doing it pls need help fixing it on the ipad 2

The issue is an issue only for some older movies.
"iTunes 10.4 or later on OS X Lion opens by default in 64-bit mode. However, some older media files in your iTunes library may still rely on QuickTime to play, and QuickTime only runs in 32-bit mode. Apple TV Gen 2 downloading movies issue?

I was given the new apple tv gen2 for my bday in January, after seeing my brother's apple tv gen1. Unfortunately, I have found it is nothing like the gen1, and am thoroughly disappointed. I have unusually long download times (once was 1200mins!!!) though it has gotten better and is only about 1-2hrs now. But I have now encountered another problem.. I keep getting an error message, when I try to download movies, or watch stuff on youtube. "! An error occurred downloading this content" "please try again later". And it keeps saying it. I have tryed re-setting it, I have also tried unplugging it, and replugging it in. I don't know what it could be! I haven't rented the movie through itunes on my computer, it is simply through the apple tv.
Can anyone help me, or shed a bit of light on the situation please?
I'm beginning to think that this is the worst/crappiest bday present I've ever received!!!!

Whenever you download something from the iTunes Store or Youtube, you are downloading it from something called a "Content Distribution Network". Basically, it means you get top download speeds no matter where in the world you are. What you need to check:
Your download speed. If you have a speeds >6MBps (mega-bits per second), then you should download content relatively quickly.
Your DNS settings by going Settings > General > Network. Make sure that DNS do not read 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4

TS1362 No audio in iTunes movies but audio in iTunes music

I continue to be baffled and exasperated by this issue. Keep in mind that I am not a paticularly knowledgable computer whiz and have made attempts that have eliminated all audio, as in this morning, then wound up with audio back on iTunes music library without realizing how.
I do note that when opening the Quick Time player by itself and opening the window tab then clicking on "Show A/V Controls" a window opens with controls that are all set to the left which I presume is off and I can not reset them.
My computer is a Dell XPS 9000 with an I7; 12mg RAM, Windows7, GTX460 video, Creative Sound Blaster xfi and the sound and video cards were recently installed by me in order to cure this problem and upgrade the system. Drivers were all updated and downloaded but I did not shut off any previous items because I think it is done automatically. Currently there is a creative 4 speaker system with a subwoofer connected to the card.

If it play video but not audio, normally is an audio codec trouble. Movies may using other codecs than your musics. Strang this happening when upgrading... You may try play the music with QuickTime, if still got no audio, than is the codec.

Playing downloaded movies

Ive downloaded movies from itunes to my ipod. For some reason the movie plays fine from itunes, but from my ipod only the audio will play and just the caption of the movie is pictured. Any ideas?

This kind of issue could be caused by several different factors.
First off, it might have something to do with you being on Windows 98? One of the system requirements for Fifth Generation iPods is that you need to be running either Windows 2000, or Windows CP (or perhaps Vista, although that's not fully compatible with iPods at this time).
These five iPod troubleshooting steps are a good place to start as a general with syncing problems, or the sort:

Also, a few more details about your problem might help. For example, is your iPod even being recognized in iTunes, or are you getting some sort of error message? If so, please quote exactly what it says.
Or, is iTunes acting in some other kind of strange way, like, it says it has synced with your iPod, while it has not?

Lose audio when watching movies

When I first started using ITunes and I downloaded movies they worked fine, I could watch the whole movie no problems. I think it was after perhaps the fourth movie I downloaded suddenly I started having audio issues. I'd get about 20 minutes into the movie and the audio when cut out and then go out all the way. I'd have to shut down itunes and come back about a half an hour later and I'd get another 20 minutes of the movie and then the audio would go out again. I have to do that thru the whole movie. I've done all the suggestions to fix it.....don't use the enhanced audio, reinstall Quicktime ect but nothing seems to be working.
Does anyone have any other suggestions I might be able to try?

Same problem with all headphones and earbuds--just checked settings and Volume Limit was already off--starting to think it's a volume system flaw tied to videos and related sound. No problem getting plenty of sound volume for music, only videos.

No Audio in Quicktime Movie taken from Camera

I have a Pentax OptioS6 and used its video capture mode. When I viewed the movie, it opened QuickTime, and then I received a message that software was missing, and was directed to the QuickTime Components web site, with several third-party components. I am not sure which one to install. Does anyone know how I should handle this issue. Without installing any software, there is no audio for the movie. In order to get audio do I have to install one of the third-party components? I already have DivX. So if this is the proper component to allow me to watch the movie with sound, do I simply use that program to open the movie?

MPEG, Mono, 32.000 kHz is your audio and MPEG is the codec. Trouble is that doesn't tell me enough.
QuickTime can play MPEG-1 files but yours isn't because it shows DivX as the video codec. Normal MPEG-1 files are muxed (single codec and file) and your file shows two codecs.
Try playing and converting the file with MPEG Streamclip (free). It can export to QuickTime formats.
