No Audio on DV Capture

When I'm capturing footage from my DV deck I have audio.
Once I go to the recorded clip there is no audio with the video file.
I have been importing other tapes and have not had this problem.
I import into QT and I have audio but the application crashes before I can save the file.
Very frustrating......

iMovie 08 and 09 do not let you monitor the audio on import (drives me nuts).
Use iMovie 06 and you can monitor the audio on import.

  • Is it possible to delete the audio of a captured clip permanently?

I know you can drag clips to the timeline without audio, or delete the audio from the timeline.
What I'm asking is: say you captured a bunch of clips with audio tracks that you didn't want, because you forgot to uncheck the audio box.
Is there some way you can delete the audio from the captured clips, without re-capturing everything? I'd like to have them sitting in my browser, without any associated audio.
I know you can change whether audio is present in a logged (but uncaptured clip) using clip settings, but that only works before the clip is captured.

Just think about this for a minute before you launch
yourself off into this realm. The audio doesn't
really take that much space. DV video runs at 3.6
MB/sec 48khz audio runs at 192kB/s. The audio takes
    up nothing.
You're right - it's not worth the effort. It's just a minor annoyance. It would be easier to just recapture all the clips.

  • Afteburner has no audio in video capture?

I'm not really sure if this is the right section for this topic but i'd just like to know if there's any way to have audio when video capture is used. Thank you.

AB only takes a single frame screenshot DUDE, so what gives you the idea that it would record audio for that? It does not capture live video from games or anything else.
Why do you assume that i know that AB is not capable of audio recording since its a single capture device? I'm not as computer savvy as you. I'll teach you how to moderate dude: When a question is asked you reply this way: "AB only takes a single frame rate screenshot and is not capable of recording audio at the same time." Never assume that the person asking knows about technical stuff like you, that's why i'm asking DUDE. I wouldn't ask if knew the answer, duh! Lol.

  • How can I turn OFF audio monitoring during capture from tape?

FCP has a very useful check box that allows you to turn off audio monitoring during capture, so you can listen to other things whilst the batch captures.  Is there any way to do this in PP?  If not, how can I make a feature request?
    I'm using PP CS6.
    Thanks for any help.
    Dominic

The only other solution I can offer is to go to "edit" "preferences" then select "playback". Under playback set the default audio device to your capturing device instead of the adobe desktop audio. This will allow you capture but not have to listen to whats being captured. However once it's done capturing you'll have to set it back to adobe desktop audio otherwise you can't hear what you're editing in your timeline.
Other than that I'm out of ideas sorry.

  • No audio after using capture now to log files

I'm trying to import some footage into final cut pro but having trouble getting the audio to work. I'm using my camera as a deck and I can hear the sound coming from the camera, I can also hear it when I'm logging/capturing and when i'm using capture now. someone had suggested that I turn off the audio in the sequence and canvas. I'm not sure how to turn it off in the canvas but i tried turning it off in the sequence and I still don't get audio after I capture the clips. Any ideas/suggestions?
    thanks

  • Audio Monitoring During Capture

I have a Mac Mini (2.66GHz; 4GB RAM; 500GB HD) with FCE installed. I can capture with no problem and have audio, too. The problem is that I can't hear the audio when I capture. I have done it before but I can not remember how/what to select to get this "turned on." Help!
    Thanks y'all!

    Tully,
You really couldn't have heard the audio +from FCE+ during capture. FCE has never done it. You may have heard the audio from the speaker in your camcorder, but not through FCE.
In your last post, however, you indicated that after capturing the clip you can't hear the audio. Is that the problem?

  • Multibridge Pro no audio monitoring during capture

I cannot get audio monitoring during capture, from betacam (component) or dv, I tried everything I can think of, does anybody else is running to the same problem?
(running mac pro, plenty of ram, Os version 10.5.2, decklink software 6.6.2, FCP 6.0.2)
    Thanks for any suggestions.

I tried to reboot the multibridge many but to no avail. Regarding the monitoring, I do not really care about monitoring the upload, but I want to be able to log the clip via final cut, and it should work, however it does not.
Also I wanted to know if users of the multibridge have issues with the video levels? I just switch from a HD Decklink card and the difference in level is not right, the multibridge is much to bright. Any suggestions?

  • Loud Audio Noise while Capturing in PP 5.5

I am using a Formac Firewire Audio & Video external capture device with a Firewire 400 to 800 cable to my 12 Core Mac Pro 2.9 GHZ.
Does anyone else use this device?
I am getting a strong audio noise thru the firewire port regardless if my audio input in the "Line In" or "Digital In" in the system.
The noise does not occur in any other application that records video which uses the system audio line in.
I guess my question is "Can you change the Audio Input Device" fo Capturing Video in PP ?
I cant find it .. so I guess not.

Some more information which might help.
Below is a grab of a sequence I've created in PP to show what I'm seeing.
As you can see there are two clips in the timeline, the first pink clip is the finished AE comp which has been imported into PP via the file menu and placed into the timeline, both video and audio play, and are present in the timeline (in pink) so that is a work around if necessary.
The second clip in the timeline has been dynamically linked via the FILE MENU/ADOBE DYNAMIC LINK/REPLACE WITH AFTER EFFECTS COMPOSITION. The video effects that have been applied in the AE comp appear in PP but no audio and as you can see in the PP timeline the A1 is still the origonal file's audio track (in blue under the pink AE comp)

  • Audio levels while capturing

i would like to get rid of my huge yamaha audio mixing console and to work "only" within the computer.
is there any way to enhance the audio level while capturing software-wise? very often i have dvd or S-VHS material that is around minus 20 dB ! ! ! with the maximum amount of 12 db within the mixer i cant really do that much.
of course there is always the possibility to export to soundtrack pro or nuendo and to do all the audio levels there.... but for every day work this is just to to much work. i like to have my material digitized with proper levels.
    thanks for your input!

Have you tried "send to soundtrack pro" w video? It's pretty cool. the soundtrack pro plugins work great for run of the mill stuff great little compressor and a great little limiter, plus you get to see your video with no doubt of sync relation ships. Other than that get a couple mic/line preamps and a clean compressor check out

  • Audio in log & capture

I don't have a search bar either, so I have to ask - I have FCP studio. How can I get audio during log & capture?
    Thanx

The way most people [editing DV] would do it is to connect an external TV monitor and speakers to their DV device's analog outputs.

  • Audio issues on capture

    Hi,
I have FCP 6.0.5. When I capture from my miniDV cameras (I have a few, and the issue occurs with all my capture devices), the audio that gets captured has these digital glitches all over them. It sounds like when your TV has a digital glitch and the audio catches or snags, for lack of any other way to describe it. What could be causing this, and how can I fix it?
Any help would be TREMENDOUS! Thanks so much.

*how do I use Apple Disk Utilities?*
Just open it in the finder and click on the First Aid tab. Then select the drive you want to check from the left hand pane and click verify. If problems are reported, click on repair and see if it can be fixed. This will work on external drives... for the system drive you can click verify to check for problems but if any are found you will have to boot from your Mac OS installation disk then run the utilities program.
That being said I would guess the trouble might be the cameras you are using to capture the footage. Cameras can be finicky for playing back material shot with other cameras. If possible try using the same camera the material was shot on for playback.
Could also be a single FW bus issue. To test that, eject and disconnect all external drives. Connect the camera and try capturing a sample clip to the internal system drive. If that works you may need to add another FW port to your macbook pro via the card slot.

  • Audio playthrough via capture window

How to set Audio playthrough during capture previewing? I want to hear the audio as I preview etc.
It doesn't appear to be in any of the Preferences settings I can find...
    FCP HD 3.0
    Thanks

    William,
Can't be done. And as odd as that sounds (since iMovie can) it's to do with the way FCE captures material. It captures the audio separately where as iMovie captures it all in one muxed file (hence why you can monitor it in iMovie).
It makes the audio easier to work with in FCE as it's already on a separate track, whereas in iMovie you have to extract audio to do any processing to it.
The only way to monitor during capture is by plugging some headphones into your camera.

  • Final Cut Express...Audio monitoring while capturing video.

Does anyone know how to monitor audio while capturing?

You might try posting in the FCE forum, very few Express users here in the Final Cut Pro forum.
In FCP, the function—and limitations—is clearly explained in the manual. I hope Apple's FCE manual and online help system are as thorough.

  • No audio on screen capture

has it been resolved yet why there is no sound when you use screen capture? i wanted to take some youtube videos and put them together, but i also want the sound.

I can't help but wonder why they even botherd making the video recording software if they diidn't include audio .
I tend to consider such features add-ons because to appeal to novice users because the features are incomplete as far as functonality is concerned or too dependent on the CPU power of the platform on which it is used. This is why I tend to use dedicated import and/or screen capture applications. Normally, I would recommend using an app like Snapz Pro X from Ambrosia ($69) but they too are having problems updating or replacing their audio "kernel extension" following system audio changes made in the Lion OS release. ScreenFlow ($99) is another good screen capture app but it includes a number of editing features that many users do not want or for which they are not willing to pay such a high price. I personally amd looking at what, for me, is a new app listed in an article URL posted by QTKirk. The app is called Screenflick and lists for $29. I am interested in it because they claim you can tap into user events like key presses (e.g., use of keyboart shortcuts) and highlight/include them in your captures. (I.e., this would be very handy for the makie of "quickie" tutorials.) In any event, I have not tried this app so I can't yet recommend it based on personal use... but it might be worthing looking at if you plan to purchase such a utility. (And yes, it does claim to support the audio capture of both system audio and/or a user selectable mic source.)
