  • HDD for Compaq Mini 110c-1001NR

I received a Compaq Mini 110c-1001NR netbook a week ago as a gift and I really like it. However I realised that the HDD is only a 16GB Solid State Drive. Can someone please let me know if it is possible to change to a 160/250GB Hard Disk?
While on the topic of upgrading, does anyone know if the RAM can be upgraded to 2GB?
I am sorry if this has been answered before but I seem to have trouble finding answers for these in HP forums and on the net in general.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

    Hi:
First install the chipset driver and reboot.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-71064-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...=
Uninstall the audio driver and first install this:

Then see if the audio driver will install.

  • Restoration for Compaq mini CQ10-112nr

My HP Compaq mini CQ10+12nr has crashed  I was trying to restore it to factory default and now it will not let me even go to the safe mode screen it will not even sign on,  It will go to the screen that will give you the option of safe mode and etc. then it will stroll down and it said that my WINDOWS\SYSTEM\vgaoem.fon is corrupt or missing and I should get a windows set disk. My compaq runs windows 7.  How can I get the disk which has to be a flash drive or how can I restore it to factory default.  Please Help !!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey Hapless,
I'm sorry you're running into this issue with the recovery.
Here's how to put Windows 7 onto a USB flash drive and reinstall Windows.
    1. Turn your computer over and look for the Windows Product Key label. Write down the Product Key so you can use it to install Windows.
    2. Download the Windows 7 ISO (MAKE SURE TO GET THE 32-BIT VERSION) using another computer. Save it to the Desktop, not the USB yet.
    3. Download Rufus from here and follow the instructions to make a USB drive bootable.
    4. Insert the USB drive into the mini.
    5. Press the Power button on your mini to turn it on. Immediately start tapping the F9 key to enter Boot Options. Select USB from the Boot Options menu.
    6. Use your Product Key to install Windows. You'll have to go to your HP Driver Page once Windows has installed and download all of your drivers and software.
Let me know if you have any questions about those steps and please let me know the results when you get a chance

  • Looking for Mac mini that will run OS9

I'm looking for a Mac mini that will run OS9 for a legacy accounting application. If anyone has one for sale please let me know. Thanks.

For the amount of money you'd spend on VMWare, you could get a Mac that does boot Mac OS 9. Plus you need one just extract the ROM file necessary to run 9 on VMWare. Doing so, may be illegal, because the ROM chip is a proprietary design. Just get a Mac that boots into Mac OS 9, unless you know Classic is all you need. • Analog Audio Output Jack for Digital Speakers with same jack configuration

I just purchased my first Mac, a Mac Pro. I can't get sound to my speakers using the analog out jack. With my old PC, there was a setting for "digital output" even though the digital speakers were attached via to the same style jack as the Mac's analog out jack. I've tried going to preferences but don't see a like setting for digital output. Is there a setting to do so and if not, is there an adapter to convert the Mac's digital audio out to the analog jack style?

Do you want digital or analog? Your question seems to imply that you have speakers that accept a digital signal but you also say you want analog...??
Anyway, my Mac Pro (2006 model) has separate analog and optical digital outputs on the back. The pictures on the apple website still show the same thing on the Mac Pro so I'm guessing it's the same. I think only the Mac laptops have the analog/optical digital combo jacks...
The optical digital outputs are the little white squarish ports beneath the rear firewire ports.
The MacPro does not have a SPDIF RCA style output. Maybe that is what you are thinking of from the windoze pc...
You should be able to enable the rear analog line output or the digital outputs from the System Preferences > Sound > Output screen. The front headphone outputs kind of act weird in that they disable the rear line output (if I remember correctly, I never use the front port...).

  • Audio/Bass Control For Mac Mini

Recently bought a new Mac Mini and I have an old Logitech Z-5300 speakers attached to it. Is there anyway to turn the bass down through the OS? I have the bass turned down to 0 on the speaker unit itself and the bass volume is still coming through very high and I need to turn it down so I don't disturb my neighbor in the next room. Thanks.

    Glorius wrote:
I am also searching for a solution to adjust the bass on my mac. But there seems to be really no solution for it on the Apple computers.
For music playback, iTunes provides an equalizer.
If you want a global control for this, unfortunately there is none.
If this is important to you, one solution would be to use an outboard hi-fi stereo equalizer.
I am completely disappointed!!! This will be my last mac computer!!!
If you honestly believe this one drawback to the Mac negates all the positive aspects of the platform, then you'll be happier as a Windows user.

  • Compaq Mini 700 will neither run from, nor charge the battery

Netbook will only run from mains charger.
Original battery flat, battery icon has a red cross through it.
I tried a n new battery which is recognised as 56% charged.
No charge light and no "charging" message. Netbook shuts down when the charger lead is removed.
I have replaced the power socket as the connections looked suspect, but still no joy.
    Any suggestions?
    model 702EA  Windows XP

OK, I guess I'm  having the same problem... When the "Mini" was purchased, everything worked fine. I normally leave the "Mini" with the AC adapter plugged in on my desk. The little light by the plug on the computer is illuminated, so I'm supposing that the unit is charging. However, when I unplug  the unit from the adapter, the computer shuts off, and it will not turn back on unless it is plugged into the adapter (so much for portability)... Any suggestions??

  • Audio in on the mac mini?

I am downloading audio editing software for the mini mac
because I need to edit audio for a job. The audio will have been pre-recorded onto mini disc. Has anyone ever tried to transfer audio from a mini disc
to a mini mac - is it possible? There doesn't seem to be an
obvious audio in socket, as there is on a PC. Only firewire, USB and audio line for headphones/speakers. Does that last one also act as audio in?

As others have said, you'll need some kind of USB interface like the Griffin imic (you'd really need this even with audio in, since that's a line level input). Get a stereo male to male miniplug cable, attach one end to the headphone socket of your minidisc and the other to the imic. If you have a US consumer-grade MD player, the only way to do this is to record analog realtime out the headphone jack. There are one two professional MD models that have optical out, but you still have the problem of the mac not being able to read the proprietary ATRAC format the MD uses.
Audacity is probably the easiest recording program for your mac and it's free.

  • Audio distorted Compaq Mini CQ10-400CA

Hi, I've just bought a Compaq Mini, I'm trying to fix an audio problem,  speakers produce big noise and distortion so I'cant use audio on it.
I'cant even find audio drivers since the product number is not recognized. I've bought it new 3 weeks ago, in Canada but the laptop is presenty in South America .
Really bad, slow and cheap product, it's the last Compaq of my life for sure.
I'm looking for a way to fix the problem.
    Thanks for your help ...

Yes, that is the correct information you have...You will need DDR2 800 MHz PC2-6400 Memory...I have never used or heard about Crucial, I would suggest going for kingstron or corair and I am kind of 50/50 when it comes to A-DATA...This based on listed on newegg.ca

    Hi:
The only suggestion I can offer is to reinstall the audio driver, and see if that remedies the situation.
