No audio on my hp pavilion 6700

Hello everyone.
I have just about tryed everythin and still no sound?? Let me take you back to the beginning...
Abot 2 month ago my factory installed windows vista crashed! So, I went to my back up disks and ran them. Well there are three back up disks and the first one worked ok but when i put the secound disk in a window came up saying contact HP! Well to make a long story longer! That was a waist of time.... See my HP laptop is only 16 months old and of course the warranty is only good for a year! So..... being fed up with vista i downgraded to xp.... (  i really don't think that it i downgrated!. I love my xp pro!! But now my audio does not work. I was wondering if anyone out there can help me fix this problem??? I am now livin in Thailand.... So, i cant go to the local Best Buy Geek squad! Please beleive me I HAVE TRYED JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING!!! I love my XP PRO and i would hate to go  back to vista...(because it sucks....just my opinion)
Please help PLEASE!!
Thank you
FRUSTRATED IN THAILAND!

Read several posts and if your using a fairly outdated computer like myself HP pavilion 6700, then you maybe looking around for answer's to this topic ?...NO AUDIO!! Took me a while to figure it out, did everything that most had recommended and as of now the problem appears to be fixed. SOLUTION: System Recovery...the audio will work for most if you due a system recovery back to factory default settings...complete restore moreless...now upon doing this system restore you'll be asked a few questions while setting it up...DISABLE Microsoft updates...its to my understanding that this is the cause of the problem...some compatibility issues, seeing that this is the first time I have ever ran into such a **bleep** problem to begin. But take these necessary steps and I assure you that this will take care of the problem...for must of you! THANKS

  • No Audio Output Device - HP Pavilion DV6707us

I, like many I have read about, am having an issue with the audio on my work laptop. It is an HP DV6707us running a Windows 7 64-bit operating system.
The issue is basically this; an intermittent failure of my audio device.
Scenario 1: Most times, I will turn on my computer and there will be a red error circle over my speaker icon in the system tray. When highlighted with the mouse, it will say No Audio Device Installed. The audio won't work and if I go through the message center troubleshooter, it just sends me in the direction of downloading a driver. Please note though, that when the system doesn't detect the audio device, it will not let me install the driver anyway. So that solution doesn't work.
Scenario 2: There is a rare instance, maybe 5-10% of the time, where I start my computer from shut down and the audio is there. There is no driver installation as you would get with new hardware or anything like that. I am greeted by my custom start-up sound and all seems well, aside from the fact that sound only plays from the right speaker. [I have tried with another speaker set-up too and tested connections, so I know the speakers are physically fine.] Either way, it never lasts. If I so much as graze the quick touch volume control, I lose the sound. If I click on the speaker to adjust the audio, the volume slider freezes and I lose sound within a couple of seconds. I can do nothing, and suddenly the sound is gone. [The error doesn't appear right away.] Sometimes the loss of sound will be characterized by lag relating to some sort of audio element, such as the volume slider, or delay in the start of any media players.
    Other information:
I have attempted re-installs multiple times.
I have restored my system multiple times.
I have installed multiple operating system configurations.
I have purchased and installed many new parts, but to no avail.
I have tried to contact HP multiple times, but they don't give a snit because it is now out of warranty. [Though when this began, it was within warranty. The only reason it wasn't addressed so deep is because it was my father's at the time.]
After researching forums such as this for the last 6 months, I am finding that this is a very common problem among the Pavilion 6700 series, but a solution has not been found.
The only answer anyone has given anywhere is to redownload a driver or run system restore. It doesn't work. If that is your suggestion, don't bother.
I find that an issue that seems to be somewhat related in the crashing of my Shockwave player when the audio fails. I have uninstalled this to explore that possibility, but it did not help.
I have taken this computer apart multiple times, cleaned and inspected every inch of each piece. [Just to be clear, I am a trained technician. This is done correctly and with proper tools.]
If there is anything else, I will edit the original post to add them, but this is all the pertinent information I can provide. If there is anyone out there who can even think of a possible problem, that could be affecting my computer, as well as the possible 100+ people I've read about, please let me know in the hopes that I can get an adequate solution. It would also be nice to stop having to refer to it as a piece of [garbage] and using it as a warning of the horrible quality of HP products when my friends or customers ask how I feel about it.
    Thank you in advance!

  • My mic stopped working after i upgraded to Window 7 on my HP pavilion 6700

I upgraded my Vista to Window 7 (64  bit) on my HP Pavilion 6700, my speakers are working but my builit in mic has stopped working.
Can any body help me with this....
    Thanks

    I assume this is the add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/deskcut/
Which part isn't working: the item doesn't appear on the context menu, or no shortcut is created? If it doesn't appear, it might not be enabled. If the shortcut isn't created, there could be a problem with the path to the Desktop.
    Try here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons
Click Extensions and find deskCut. If it is disabled (grayed out), click Enable. If it is enabled, click Options, then Path and try changing it to a different folder, and then changing it back to your desired folder. Any luck?

  • Audio fluctuating on HP Pavilion 15-p012tx

the audio on my hp pavilion 15-p012tx constantly fluctuates no matter what programs I am using. All my audio and sound drivers are up to date, my product number is G8E24PA#ABG.

  • Audio not working in pavilion dm3 after harddrive change and operating system reload

I had hard drive failure on my Hp Pavilion dm3 and so I got a new hard drive and had the operating system reloaded and upgraded from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional.  My audio isn't working unless I have external speakers plugged in.  I have no missing drivers in the Device Manager.  The speaker icon has movement and it seems like there should be volume coming out but there's nothing.
Is it possible that while I had my machine repaired that the guy unhooked the speakers from inside the computer accidentally?
Its not easy to get into the inside of  this machine the repair guys said.  I did take this computer to a repair shop to get fixed because I don't know how to do all that changing.  I really don't want to take it back in just yet cause Im hoping its just a driver issue.
Also before I had all this work done and computer working great, I used to have little image pop up when I would press the mute button or when I would increase or decrease the volume and I can see how high or low my volume without having to hover over the speaker icon on my taskbar.  Now after the reload all that doesnt appear.  The buttons work but no little image popping up and I can figure out what that driver is called.

    Hi,
You can alwasy roll back the updates using Windows Restore then apply one by one or Please use the following instructions to check and fix:

  • Need"multimedia audio controller" driver for pavilion zv5340us running XPsp3

Just received a free HP Pavilion zv5340us and can not find the driver for the multimedia audio controller.
Searched everywhere on the net (HP website, Driverguide,etc...) and on my XP cd.
I have everything else working but I have no sound.
Running XP SP3. Does anyone have this driver?

    Hi:
I see there are no audio drivers for your notebook on the support page, nor does the product description say much about the audio that would help, so...
Click on the multimedia audio controller in the device manager. Then click on the details tab.  Post the top string of characters you see there. Those will hopefully ID the manufacturer and model of your audio card, and I can try and find the driver link to post for it.

    Hi,
"Dolby Advanced Audio v2 is designed into select PC models and is not available for direct purchase or download. Our experts work with PC manufacturers to custom-tune each model for the best possible audio performance." that means it's built-in to the audio driver on your machine. Please try the following driver for Windows 8 & 8.1 64bit:

  • No Audio problem with HP Pavilion dv6

I have an HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC running on Windows 7 Home Premium. It is a 64-bit Operationg System.
Recently I noticed I lost audio from my speakers and I have no idea what has caused it. I tried testing the speakers and I recieved a message reading "Failed to play test tone". Strangely, my computer still plays Windows Sounds such as "asterisk" and "exit windows".  I attempted to watch a video on the HP website and I could hear audio from the video as well. The same thing applies to when I watch videos on other websites such as Youtube. I cannot hear audio from music/video files I run using programs I have and video games.
This is very frustrating. Please, someone help me.

    Hi,
Can you post back with the full Model No. and Product No. of your dv6 series notebook - see Here for a guide on locating this information.

  • No audio devices installed? (Pavilion g7-1318dx Notebook Windows 7)

Someone please help me out with this, I would be so so soooo grateful.
From out of the blue my Pavilion g7-1318dx Notebook running Windows 7 won't play any audio at all. It says that there are no audio devices installed. I've been reading other posts on this forum for a couple days now, and none of the options have worked for me. Prior to the audio disappearing I haven't updated anything or installed anything new (though yesterday, I did install a few updates hoping that maybe the problem was that something was outdated... but it wasn't). I did a system restore, and still nothing. Also, I can't record sound either (obviously) as it's telling me there are no audio devices installed.
I ran the device manager, and under sounds, video, and game controllers the only audio device listed is AMD High Definition Audio Device (which is what my notebook uses for audio apparently, when I connect to my TV which, incidentally, works fine!) but the IDT HD Audio Driver is not working at all. I've tried reinstalling the driver, but I get an error every time and it says it's unable to install it. The answer might be a simple one to someone out there, but it eludes me.
So....anyone out there who can help me? Please.

You can try few more steps..
    i) Completely uninstall IDT first from control panel and then download it  from here
Temporily disable the anti-virus while re-installing the IDT.
ii) Run HP Support Assitant and check if any HP updates are pending..like BIOS Update..
Recently i came across a similar issue where the sound disappered after a adobe flash update also. So you an try uninstall/reinstall flash and check also.
    Let me know what happens..
Also if nothing works then the last step would be to perform a recovery (factory reset). If problem continues after recovery also the it has to be a hardware issue..
    Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem

I use an HP Pavilion desktop using Windows 7. Whenever I watch any video, from You Tube or any other source, every few seconds the video will freeze but the audio continues. Hi @irishwomderful
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are getting no sound at all from your new notebook, either from the speakers or using headphones. I am happy to assist.
Were you getting any sound at all when you first powered on the notebook, or was there never any sound?
If you did get some sound originally, then it is possible that something was installed or changed while installing other applications, that affected the sound. If so, then you can try either a system restore, to a point before the problem began, or a system recovery to the factory defaults. Before choosing the recovery option, be sure to back up any important data to an external source.

  • No audio from speakers on pavilion dm1z-3000

I'm getting no audio from the internal speakers on my pavilion dm1z-3000.  Headphones work fine, haven't tried HDMI.  I tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling the drivers I got off the HP website (sp51371.exe) with no luck.  After installing drivers the audio worked for a few seconds, started stuttering, then quit completely.  Thanks for any help!

As the previous poster noted... I would suggest updating your bios to latest version.  From what i can tell that should be version F.03 SP 51519.  Also check back in a week or two F.05 will release to hp.com as well.
In addition once you have confirmed you have F.03 bios you can try to run the troubleshooting tool located at the following URL.  I have had success with this tool in the past.

  • Audio jack on my Pavilion

It finally happened. My Bose speakers won't work now in the audio jack. Well they work, but only sound is a buzz.My ear buds will work if I put a little weight on the plug-in. This is a short, right? Can it be replaced?

    Hi there @privateidaho49
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.
I understand that you are having some trouble with your audio jack on your notebook.
I took a look at the HP Pavilion dv6 Entertainment PC - Maintenance and Service Guide for that series, and unfortunately the audio jack is not on a separate board, so to replace them would require replacing the mainboard itself. Otherwise you would be looking at soldering, which unless you are skilled has its own inherent risks, such as damage to the board or its traces.
A possibility you could also research is maybe an external USB/audio adapter of some sort. Just a thought.
If you decide you wish to look at replacing the main board, then please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • The audio on my hp pavilion dv6-6b27nr no longer works

The troubleshooter did not find a problem. I re-installed the driver. Suggestions?

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the relevant IDT Audio installer on the links below and save it to your Downloads folder.
IDT Audio Installer - Windows 7.
IDT Audio Installer - Windows 8.
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
