No audio on new Kindle 7 HDX

I can't get audio to work, either on a call or listening to voice messages. The call ring is fine. When I answer the other person can see and hear me and I can see them, but I can't hear a thing. I've tried clearing data and cache and restarting the Kindle. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Skype app, but nothing works. Kindle support has no clue. Anyone else having the same problem consistently?

Have you tried the Skype test call service? The issue could be at the other end of the connection. The test call will let you confirm that your audio levels are OK. It is a good way to check your Kindle's output volume. Some online video content has very high volume levels so your device volume could be lower than you realise.
If the test call shows that you really do have an issue then you can try resetting  your Kindle (see next para for instructions). Letting your Kindle go into standby does not clear the state of your applications. Powering off via the prompt can clear some issues but it does not always do the trick. No guarantee that this will help but it is well worth trying. I have only had my Kindle Fire HDX for 3 days but I have needed to do this twice after installing new apps.
To reset your Kindle Fire HDX you press and hold the on/off button for around 20 seconds. Ignore the power down prompt when it appears. Wait for the screen to go dark and for the word 'Kindle' to appear as your Kindle re-initialises.

Is any information currently available concerning Skype compatibility with the new Kindle Fire HDX?

The video received by the Kindle Fire HDX is several seconds delayed from the audio.  Very annoying.  The quality is excellent and the person I'm talking to sees me fine.  I don't beleive it's a network issue because this does not happen when using Skype on other devices with my home network.
I just bought a new Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 and i am having the same issue; The video is very clear but it lags behind the audio for a couple of seconds. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling Skype and still have the same issues. I have several other devices and desktops in the house to test with over Wifi and they all work beautifully with each other. It is only the brand new Kindle HDX that is behaving badly. I have not had issues with Skype in a very long while on any platform so this has me completely baffled. Any thoughts?

  • Is there a version of firefox that will run on the Kindle Fire HDX 7?

I have a new Kindle Fire HDX 7" and I would rather be running Firefox(as I do on my: desktop/laptop/netbook/Macbook/ Galaxy3 phone/Ipod....as you can see I am a Firefox devotee!). Is there an app that is compatible with the Fire HDX? thanks!!!

Although the program installs but fails to run on the HDX so I'm afraid this answer is wrong. The HDX is the most recent release from Kindle(Amazon) the Settings are totally different. The hardware is also different. Please make sure answers are more up to date.

  • Live account not supported by Kindle Fire HDX?

I just signed up for a new account, which also involved creating a new Microsoft Live Account, so I could use Skype on my new Kindle Fire HDX. My login works fine on the website, doesn't work at all on my Kindle Fire HDX 7".

Mine won't work either going through Microsoft Live.  It'll ring twice and then fail.  Every time.

  • Kindle Fire HDX - Skype video calling, video is de...

When I use Skype on my Kindle Fire HDX 7" I get really good calls when it comes to audio calls. When it comes to video calling though, the sound is excllent as well as the video quality, but the video is 3-4 seconds delayed in contrast to the sound received. This happens only on my end. The other person can see me and listen to me well and in synch. I tried calling amazon throught their video help. The video looked fine and I had no issues with that. So I guess it has something to do with Skype as an application.

Wait for a fix from Apple or Skype.
    Best.

  • KIndle Fire HDX

I have ordered a Kindle Fire HDX and was wondering if anyone knows if the BT wifi app for Android will work on it.
    Thanks
    Tony

Don't know of any reason why it won't.

  • How do i transfer a apple home screen to a kindle fire HDX?

Ok so I have always loved the Apple home screen layout but instead of getting me a apple device for my birthday I got a kindle fire HDX. How do I transfer home screens? PLEASE I know for sure there is a way to do it.

That does not make sense.  Home Screens are part of the software. The Kindle Fire has its own homescreen designed by its developers the way it is.
Also what does this have to do with remote desktop?
Apple Remote desktop lets you access an Apple computer remotely from another Apple computer.
Even if it was possible to somehow emulate an Apple Desktop on a kindle fire, that would be a question to ask in the Kindle fire forums not here.

There is no more Flash Player for Android and there won't be another. Android is no longer compatible with Flash Player since June of 2012. That WON'T change.
    Historically:
2008 (March) - Apple® releases the first iPhone, using iOS®. Steve Jobs is insistent and adamant that iOS® is NOT compatible with Flash® and NEVER WILL BE. Jobs' reasoning is that playing Flash® content is processor consumptive and it drains batteries, thus shortening the life of them in mobile devices. In six years, that hasn't changed. Not for the iPhone®, iPad® or iPod® Touch™. It never will change and there never will be a Flash Player® for iOS®.
2008 (September) - Google® introduces Android™ to compete with iOS®, for people who don't want to pay what Apple® is asking for an iPhone®. Android®, unlike its Apple® counterpart IS compatible with Flash®.
2012 (June) - Android™ (Google®) announces the end of support for Flash® with Android™ 4.3. Going forward NO Android™ devices will be compatible with Flash®, but older versions on older devices can still be loaded with "legacy" builds still available from Adobe®. Android™ (Google®) cites the same reason Apple® did for the decision to end support for Flash®. Adobe® continues to release security patches to Flash Player® for Android™ until September 2013, announcing the "end of life" for Android™ Flash® September 10.
Android (Google) recommends you use either Dolphin or Puffin as your browser if you must view Flash content, but they try to discourage it for the above outlined reasons.

  • Getting your new Kindle to connect to HH4

    Hi
Just thought I'd throw in some help for any frustrated folk out ther who can not get their shiny new Kindle to connect to their Home Hub.
I had a frustrating Saturday morning trying to get my new Kindle Paperwhite to connect . .
    Oooh, it has WPS push button connection . . . so does HH4 . . . lets try it . . . nope!!
    OK, let's enter the wireless pass key . . . . nope.
The Advanced menu . .  nope. . . ended up sneding it back as their "help" line said so . .
I tried again today with the new one . . . same problem.
I rest the HH4 back to factory settings . . . hmm, worse as my old KIndle is now lost . .
Had to enter all the DNS/IP/router stuff by hand . .
I then wondered, surely you must beable to do this on the new Kindle?
It looks like a static "Advanced" page but carefull scrutiny will show you there is a small slider on the right hand side and so you can scroll down and find all the gaps to complete the set up by hand, tedious but it works - you may have to use another PC to find all the DNS/router IP/IP adresses but it does work . . .
    Hope that helps!

At a guess you followed the process in HT1364 - iTunes for Windows: Moving your iTunes Media folder which would have moved the media folder to a new path of your choice. This process leaves the library database files back in the original location of <User's Music>\iTunes. Often people assume that all they need is now on the external drive and wipe the internal drive, or discard their old computer, before backing up the all important iTunes folder. If you have a backup of your user's profile folder from before the upgrade the iTunes library folder should be in there somewhere. Restore it to <User's Music> and your original library should pop back into existence. The external drive would need to have the same drive letter that it had previously.
A more effective way to relocate the library is to move the entire iTunes folder to the external drive, then hold down shift when starting iTunes and keep holding until asked to choose or create a library. You would then choose the file iTunes Library.itl in the iTunes folder on the external drive. If this is the way you moved the library before then that is how you should now reconnect to it. Changing the media folder in preferences doesn't change which .itl database file is opened, nor does double-clicking on an .itl file directly.
If you no longer have the original .itl file then you will have to build a new library and import the media to it. If you need to do this I would recommend you create a new library at F:\iTunes, then move your existing media folders inside F:\iTunes\iTunes Media before importing. This will avoid the creation of duplicates and make sure the library is in the correct shape going forwards.
If you have an iPod or iOS device my scripts ImportDevicePlaylists and SyncStats may well let you recover ratings, play counts & playlists from the device.
When you've fixed up your libray you should consider getting a second external drive to backup to.

  • Download to a Kindle Fire HDX

If I want to download Firefox to use as a browser on my Kindle Fire HDX, I should download the android version?

    Hello,
To answer your question, yes, since Firefox is only available for Android (on mobile devoces). And the Kindle Fire operating system is based off of Android, so yes, you download the Android version.
Here is the direct download link for Firefox:
    https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/releases/latest/android/multi/fennec-35.0.multi.android-arm.apk (tap fennec-35 link)
This download link was taken from https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android
And also check the above link if you would like to download other versions of Firefox, e.g. Firefox Beta, Aurora...

  • Anyone know if iTunes in the Cloud work on the new Kindle Fire?

Just wondering if anyone knows whether or not iTunes in the Cloud will work on the new Kindle Fire?

Just go into the music section, and choose the cloud option and the kindle will sync any music you have downloaded on your cloud drive.
