No audio on paired Bluetooth headsets

Since the ICS update months ago, I have had Bluetooth headset audio issues. Trying both my original headset and a brand new headset, I can pair successfully. But neither headset has any audio - I cannot hear anything and no one can hear me. I have tried both headsets with another phone and both work great.
I have done multiple hard resets. Nothing helps. Any suggestions?

I also have a Bluetooth OBD II device to read status from my cars. It works just fine on multiple vehicles. It pairs and gives real time data without issue. So it's not a Bluetooth general issue but specific to audio.

I anonymized the MAC of the Bluetooth headset because otherwise, somebody would probably yell at me for the security vulnerability. Because with that MAC, someone could uh ..... they could ...... uhm ...... well I anonymized it anyways.
So without further ado, here's what I do to try and get my bluetooth headset going:
    [root@yvonne bluetooth]# lsmod | grep ^snd_bt_sco
    snd_bt_sco 14028 0
    [root@yvonne bluetooth]#
That ensures I've got the appropriate module loaded.

Note that each time after I wipe out the keys from /var/lib/bluetooth, I'm putting the headset back into pairing mode by holding down its "phone" button.
So I'm kind of at the end of my rope here. Something is going wrong during pairing, but what is it? dmesg isn't giving me any clues here either. Is the PIN not getting transmitted properly or something?[/code]

Ok, there's some strange things happening with bluetooth these days it seems. I had a lot of trouble setting up a connection to my phone, even after following avery bit of advice I found on the net.
But somehow I found a way, and now it works. I had to do some things not documented anywhere, excepte from some obscure places from 2003 etc.
The most significant problem I encountered was that my phone would never find my computer, even though I set pscan and iscan enabled.
Here's a line of code I found that fixed the problem for me. It could work for you too, since your problem looks exactly like the things I saw when the phone couldn't see my computer.
    dbus-send --system --dest=org.bluez /org/bluez/hci0
    org.bluez.Adapter.SetMode string:discoverable
I write this after the bluetooth system has started.
    Hope it helps

  • My T530 is not showing the paired Bluetooth headset in "Sound"

I just paired my Samsung HM1700 Bluetooth Headset to use it as headphone.
The pairing was successful, although I didn't need to enter the pairing code, mlaptop found it, and installed necessary drivers, also I see it in the Devices & Printers.
But when I went to "Sound" setting to set it for the headphone to listen under "Playback", I don't see it...
I hope someone can help me!
    Thank you.

It sounds like you have a bad USB driver for the phone. That software is installed with iTunes. Like I said earlier, you need to make sure to uninstall everything using that support document. That clears out all Apple software. Do that without the phone attached to the computer of course. Once you have reinstalled everything, then try and connect it. It should load the USB driver and begin to work.
Let me ask you this. How many pictures do you have in the camera roll? If you have a large number of them and  you have not imported them to the computer, there could be a corrupt picture causing you some problems. While that was known in the past to cause syncing problems, I thought that was fixed. If after you uninstalled iTunes the phone was recognized as a camera, I suggest importing the pictures and then deleting them from the camera roll and try the process all over with uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. See if that helps.

  • Cannot pair bluetooth headset

Is there a list of supported devices? I've attempt to pair a Jabra BT350 to my ipod touch after upgrading to 3.0. The headset can be paired with a mobile phone, but the ipod cannot seem to find it while searching.

I cannot find a way to delete this, but I've noticed a better thread at
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2043868&tstart=0
so I am marking this as answered.
I did type "bluetooth" in the "search discussions" box. There were no results found (which did seem odd to me).

  • IPhone 6+ Muffled/Distorted audio cycles with a Bluetooth headset

While using Apps like Facetime, Skype and Viber there are moments or Cycles of Muffled audio from the Bluetooth headset ( tested on LG Tone Infinim HBS900)
The other party does not hear the muffling.
It seems like there is a cycle or may be some sort of sleep or battery saving mechanism which triggers on and causes this muffled audio.
Has anyone else experience this issue?

It seems like 8.2 has fixed it but created a new problem "Facetime incoming calls default to Speakerphone while connected to Bluetooth".

I have a GN Netcom 6210. I have tried pairing it but the Iphone doesn't seem to recognize it. I followed the instructions from the headset to try and pair it. Does the Iphone only work with a specific headset or is it compatible. Thanks

    Hey tjones1,
The iPhone is compatible with other bluetooth headsets that support the HFP or HSP profiles.
Make sure your headset is in discoverable mode.

  • Audio NOT functioning correctly after botched bluetooth headset pair attemp

After trying to connect my bluetooth headset (Motorola HS820) to my Macbook Pro i am having issues with several apps including firefox and mediacentral. Audio from these programs will not play. I get an error message saying there was a problem with my bluetooth audio configuration.. However apps like itunes and skype function correctly..
When attempting to pair my bluetooth headset the bluetooth assistant pairs it succesfully but when it connects it immediately disconnects.. after several attempts at tricking it to connect (advice from posts in mac.com forums) i have given up and deleted these devices from my bluetooth preferences and still have these problems..
I'm assuming there is some config file still in place pointing these apps in the wrong direction?
Macbook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.6) Dual Booter

Just verified Audio is not working for me in safari either...
Example i'm using is any video on youtube.com
Edit: I guess this would be a problem with macromedia flash then?

I may have already resolved this issue buy removing the device from my computer and re-pairing it. It is currently working just fine.

  • CANT USE BLUETOOTH HEADSET AS AUDIO DEVICE

I just got a bluetooth headset today, paired it with my imac, went into teh sound settings, then selected it as my audio input and output device. was working fine all day then all of a sudden it stopped working and no matter what i do it will not show up in the sound setting to let me choose it as a audio device.
It does however show up in bluetooth prefences as connected/paired etc. what can i do to fix this? i am on 10.4.2 with all the latest updates and have the 20" imac.
    thanks

I am experiencing this problem also. Strangely, I had my headset working properly, with no problems at all. Then, for no reason, the headset stopped working. I switched to another bluetooth headset and the new one worked properly. I also used a third headset, but it seems that the system is not properly clearing information about each headset. Now none work at all.
I have deleted all from bluetooth preferences, repaired one. The pairing appears to work properly, but the headset never shows up in the Audio section of System Preferences and cannot be used with Skype. I am at my wits end. I have repaired preferences. Shut down and restarted. Reinstalled Skype. Trashed Skype preferences. You name it I have tried it. I cannot get any of my 3 bluetooth headsets working now.
    Please someone help.

  • H7000 Bluetooth headset - No audio from microphone in Windows 8

Recently I bought a new HP H7000 Bluetooth headset. After I successfully paired it with my laptop (HP EliteBook 8470p, running Windows 8 and the Broadcom Bluetooth driver downloaded from Broadcom's site), I can hear audio from the headphones, but the microphone part doesn't seem to be functioning, it doesn't pick up a signal no matter how loud I speak.
When trying the same headset on the same laptop running Windows 7 SP1, the microphone is working perfectly.
In Windows 8, the Headset Microphone is Enabled in the Sound settings' Recording devices, and is set as Default Device. The Internal Microphone Array device (the laptop's built-in mic) is picking up audio no problem, so that part of Windows 8 is functioning properly. So there seems to be no issue with any of the settings, I went them through several times.
It's just the H7000 headset's mic under Windows 8, that is having the problem.
Anyone met this scenario, or even have a fix?

I managed to narrow it down to the Broadcom Bluetooth chipset driver in Windows 8.
Finally I ended up disabling it, and buying a USB Bluetooth micro-dongle with an Atheros chipset. With this, the headset works fine.
It is still ridiculous, to solve such a problem with additional investment, but this is not HP's fault it turned out.
I'll try to contact Broadcom's customer service, and keep an eye open for any Win8 driver updates on their support website.

  • Was anyone able to transfer audio to bluetooth headset in windows 7?

I have a bluetooth stereo headset. Its a cheap china made headset called skywing. I am able to pair it and use it with my cell phone. It used to work with my old dell laptop. I recently purchased a HP tx2z touchsmart laptop and now I installed windows 7 RC 64 bit edition. I tried to use the headset to use it with skype. Windows detects its installs the software and says the device isready for use. Also it shows a message saying that the device has been added to audio gateway. But there is no icon shown in the sound mixer. When I go to the bluetoot device properties. In audio tab the skywing shows up. there are two devices showm skying headset ( audi with mic ) and skying stereo ( audio only ). If if select stereo and click connect it does not connect. But if I click headset and click connect it gets connected. When I go back to skype setting or mixer the bluetooth headset is not shown. I do not know whats the problem I would appreciate any help. Thanks

One thing you can do is simply find the 64-bit version of those drivers for Windows Vista. The drivers work the same with windows 7 without the increased and automatic functionality though. Try that out. You should be fine.
For instance, my graphics card and sound card didn't have drivers with Windows 7 64-bit, but by downloading the ones used for the 64-bit version of Windows Vista, Windows 7 adopted them and uses them just as well if not better than it did when I had Vista running on my laptop.
