No Audio on Screen Recording no matter the source

I have installed Soundflower and switched inputs in System Preferences.  The mic works but no internal audio source works.  I have tried Soundflower in 2 channel and 64.  I have tried the internal sound that was on the machine before Soundflower.  I always match the input of the recording with the input in System Preferences>Sound.  Nothing works.

I always match the input of the recording with the input in System Preferences>Sound.  Nothing works.
Try setting up an audio "pipeline" instead. I.e., set the system preferences sound output to "Soundflower" and then select "Soundflower" as your audio input in the QT X player app for your screen recording. Just don't forget to reset your system output back to its normal setting before playing back the clip you record.

    Unable to record accompanying audio with Screen Recording - video is perfect.
    If you are referring to "system audio" (i.e., such as the audio in a movie being played on your screen), then that is not a QT screen capture option and you would need to invest in a third-party screen capture app with this feature.

  • How? System audio when screen recording

    Anyone know how to record system audio when screen recording in Lion? I've been trying to use the Quicktime Player record. I've trying to avoid spending gobs of money on a 3rd party app I'll only use rarely. Any help at all would be great.

    Hi hurdlefaster,
    Though the suggestion above is valid, you might not want to
    use it ("Resize") as the answer because it can be tricky to use,
    and because it
    always results in a much larger file. I think a better way
    to accomplish what you want is to create the background image you
    want in your image editor, making sure it is sized as you want it,
    then make that image the desktop image.
    The image you create might have a vertical (height) of 500
    pixels, and a horizontal (width) of 740 pixels. Of the horizontal
    740 pixel size, you might use 180 pixels on the left for a TOC or
    Index area, 20 pixels as a "border" area, and last, a "content"
    area of 540 pixels on the far right.
    Then place your recording red-rectangle around the whole
    image on your desktop, with the application to be captured placed
    in the 540 pixel "content" area.
    This works ... I've used the concept for years ... and it
    doesn't result in a bloated file, as the "Resize" operation most
    certainly will. Hope this helps. I'll be happy to give you some
    sample images if you contact me privately with a link to this
    thread. My email address is catbandit (AT) pcabcs (DOT) com.

  • Audio cd burn from 11.1 not playing on old version of iTunes on another MAC. error message was cd created on newer version of iTunes.  If the disk was a audio cd it should not matter the iTunes version.

    The error message was cd created on newer version of iTunes.  If the disk was a audio cd it should not matter the iTunes version. I converted all songs on playlist to MP3 and then selected burn playlist and checked audio cd. This worked in itunes 11.0.5. Also itunes 11.1 will not accept the second disk on a cd audio burn. It just keeps telling me to insert a blank disk, no matter how many blank disks are inserted

    I think that the operating system is 10.4.11 and iTunes isn't responding to this operating system. I cannot upgrade the operating system to a version any later than what it is as I think it would then go to Tiger.
    10.4 is Tiger, and 10.4.11 supports the latest version of iTunes and QuickTime. So either the system isn't at 10.4.11 - your original post said 10.4.1 - or there's something wrong with the system in which case earlier versions of iTunes/QuickTime might well also fail to install.
    Please confirm the version of Mac OS X that really is on the system and we'll go from there.

  • How to join audio and screen recording

    I have recorded with both the screen capture and audio capture and now want to join / merge the files into one.  Does any one know how I can do this easily? What application would I need to use? CAn it be done with iMovies?  Thanks

    m2v files are usually used in DVD authoring. Is that what you are trying to create?
    If so, you'll want a AC3 or aiff file format for the audio and use DVD Studio Pro to merge the two into VOB files.
    If this isn't what you are trying to accomplish, please offer up more information.

  • Can Microsoft add a screen recording software in the next update

    Apple has screen recording software on it when you get it. Can Microsoft do this to? It will promote more gamers to use it and more people who use Youtube to post videos.

    Apple has a great screen capture software downloaded on the computer for you,  completely free! To by that same screen capture software for
    Windows is about thirty dollars. Microsoft add a free screen recorder in the next update. This will put
    Microsoft up above Apple. Think about it. More gaming is done on Microsoft computers than on
    Apples. This will promote even more people to use Microsoft
    and will allow more gamers and people who have Youtube channels to use Microsoft computers. I want a safe screen capture software that is easy-to-use and reliable.

  • Audio Stream player : getting informations from the source

    Hello everyone,
    I'm trying to create a webRadio player, wich different sources.
    On a click on a button, the player plays the corresponding flow. I would like to display some informations, like : current music, url, description, ... I think it's possible to have all those informations, because when I play my .pls files in my audio player (winamp), I've got them.
    Here is my code corresponding to this part :
    private function playSound(e:MouseEvent):void {
                try {
                    //Sound release
                    pSound.close();
                    pChannel.stop();
                    //Flow construction
                    pSound = new Sound();
                    pChannel = new SoundChannel();
                }catch (e:Error) { trace(e.name, e.message); }
                var tmpFlow = new URLRequest(e.currentTarget.name);
                pSound.load(tmpFlow);
                //using pChannel to play the sound allows the source changement on a click on another button
                //Without it, the different sources just surimpose themselves
                pChannel = pSound.play();
                displayInformations();
            private function displayInformations() {
                trace(pSound.id3);
    My trace() commaned gives me [object id3Info]
    The problem is I'm playing the sound from a url source, not a mp3.
    Any idea ?

    No, this is not what I am saying.
    If MP3 container has id3 tags - you can read them. Also, if MP3 container has metadata and you stream sound with NetStream - you can read it as well. I am not sure about cuepoints though - never done it.
    If you are dealing with ohter than MP3 format - you will need to do custom work to read bytes and offsets, etc.

  • QuickTime: Screen Recording with audio from Flash video?

    I saw a short flash video on a website that I wanted to save. SO I tried using the new QuickTime's Screen Recording feature, but no matter what options I use (Line input or Internal microphone), I get no audio.
    Is this because Flash won't allow it, or am I doing something wrong?

    just figured this out myself today. you're on right track.
    open system pref and go to SOUND - got to OUTPUT tab and choose soundflower (2ch) as your OUTPUT
    open safari and open a new window - drag SWF file into that. it should play in the browser window. hit pause on the video.
    open quicktime. go to NEW SCREEN RECORDING, and use the arrow to the right to open options. Choose sound INPUT as soundflower (2ch). do not raise the volume in the record window - keep it at lowest possible else you'll get an echo.
    you are ready to roll.
    so the browser will be outputting sound to soundflower, whilst the quicktime screenrecord gets input from soundflower. works like a charm. sounds great.
    good luck.

  • QT Screen Recording audio app + narration

    I'm trying to create a QT Screen Recording where the app in question is an audio app - the only audio recorded is the microphone. One solution is to use Soundflower. Soundflower itself is simple.. after installing, use Garageband's audio preferences to output to Soundflower, and set QT's Screen Recording audio input to Soundflower. This sends all the GB audio directly to QT.
    However, that excludes the Mac's own microphone and anything I might wish to say - and record.
    An Audio Midi Setup "aggregate device" allegedly allows multiple sound sources to be mixed together. I created one using the Mac's microphone and the Soundflower audio source (i.e. Garageband output).
    A block diagram would be:
    Garageband audio out>Soundflower
    Aggregate device: Mac Mic + Soundflower (Garageband output)
    Aggregate device is set as the QT audio input device - except it doesn't show up in the Record tool!!
    And what should the System Audio Output be set to during QT recording?
    Soundflower offers another piece supposedly offering audio mixing called SoundflowerBED. It's running up in my Menu bar, but the choices it offers are cryptic.
    Any wisdom on this???
    thanks - Karl out West

    Can I record audio when screen recording?
    Depends on which app you are using and what form of audio you want to record. E.g., QT X can record audio via the line in or built-in microphone option but not the system audio. On the other hand, an application like Snapz Pro X can record microphone and/or the Mac system audio.
    Are there settings for the quality of recording, etc?
    QT X has two quality presets from which to choose. Third-party screen capture apps may have other options. E.g., Snapz Pro X allows the user to select any of audio and/or video compression options for which the system is configured for final output.

  • Quicktime screen record no audio

    i love the new quicktime where you screen record but how do you have it record the audo thats playing through the sytstem? thre is o preference for system and the mic is not where i want to record the audio from screen record
    thanks

    Hi --
    Have just tried both methods, and am pleased to report that both worked on my MacBook (once I clued in to the fact you need to leave the volume slider OFF in the little QuickTime X Screen Recording window!)
    As a footnote, with Soundflower, I found it was best to set both its Input and Output volumes in Sys Prefs at maximum. (Switching either the Input or Output pref back to one of the other options returns the volume setting to wherever you left it for that option.)
    One question though:
    Is there a way -- using the Soundflower method -- to also hear the sound AS you're doing the screen recording, instead of only when you play the QT X file afterwards?
    I was able to use a 1/8" splitter from the headphone jack, with one side looping back to the Line In as described, and the other feeding some actual headphones for me to listen in on. But for situations where those cables don't happen to be handy, I'm curious to know if there's any way to listen in while doing a screen recording using the all-internal Soundflower solution. Has anyone managed that?

  • Screen Recording Video in QTX Not Smooth/Jerky

    Hi. I have been experimenting with the Screen Record function in the Snow Leopard QT version and after I stop the video, the playback is a bit jerky, not smooth frame rate and sometimes the screen flashes on and off to black for about a second. The video records smooth until I check the playback.
    What I have tried doing is; play a song in iTunes ver 9.0.2, turn on the Visualizer function, hit the Screen record button and record 2-3 minutes of video.
    Any idea on what I might try to correct the glitch? There doesn't seem to be a Preferences that I can find like in QT 7. Not sure how to change settings in QTX.
    Thanks for any help. I have a white MacBook, 2.2 GHz, 4GB RAM, 160 GB HD OSX 10.6.1.
    Steve

    If  you require interaction you would have to use a full remote desktop solution as Skype doesn't have the functionality.  Teamviewer offers this as well as a built-in proprietary recording option but natively converting those files to standard formats usually resorts to using tons of hard drive space requiring additional compression and conversion time to get the size down.
    If you want to use Skype and record the desktop session including audio, the best way would be to use 3rd party screen capturing software.  This can you can record the whole screen or just parts of it.  There are also 3rd party add-ons that will capture the individual Skype streams but I find screen capturing software to be more universal and customizable.
