No audio on some of my video recordings

I recorded 6-7 videos at a concert last night. When I went to listen to them today, only half of the videos had audio. What happened? Can I get the audio back on those videos? They were extremely important to me. Nothing else on the phone isn't working. It's just those 4 videos that have no audio for some reason. Help please? I have an i phone 4

It did not do any good, however I found a folder with Media Cache files, on another internal drive that I had before my system disc crashed. As far as I know I did not change the location of the media cache since then and that folder contains .cfa and .pek files for what seems to be all the audio and video files for my project.
Can there be some error here? Can I clear it some how and recreate it from the original source files?

I'm in need of some help. I've been working on this project which has been lying on ice for a while. During that while my system disc crashed, but I had the project file and source files backed up to my external HDD. I accually ran the project from the external drive when my system HDD was up and running.
So the disc crashed, and now I started the project up again. First thing that came up was that the scratch disc was unavailable or locked, so it was set to my documents. I reccon thats the default location when starting a project if non has been set prior to that? In that case my old documents folder was most likley my scratch disc since I'm new to this program and probably did not change the default setting.
THE ISSUE: Some of the video files in the time line wont play the sound of said video file. Some will. Also, even if I open the source file in a new project it wont play back the sound of the clip. The only thing that works is to move and rename the clip, then I get the sound in premiere pro. Also the original clip has sound in external media players. So this lead me to the conclusion that premiere pro saves the audio file somewhere (in the scratch disc location?) that is now empty since my system crashed and I reinstalled premiere pro?
Is my theory correct, and is there some way to like point out the original file and make premiere pro disregard any old audio files that it has saved in some other location?
I hope everything is clear enough, otherwise just ask if you need some other information. I did not attach any hardware specs, because my sound otherwise works fine, even in premiere pro depending on the clip.

The audio on some of my videos on my iphone 4 work but some of them dont what do i do

I usually record videos and i can hear the audio but yesterday i recorded alot of videos at an event i went to and i cant hear the audio in one of the videos i took you can hear the audio for 1 second then it cuts off. What do i do?

Thank you Russ! Seems as though the timestamp on my audio files was completely incorrect so it placed the files far away from the corresponding video. I've modified the timestamp information and this has helped. The hour/minute information is incorrect but at least now I'm in the ballpark. Thank you!

Audio (and some video) dropping out export

I've created an project with short video/audio clips sampled to produce "music". It plays OK in FCPX, but when I export it (H.264, 720p, Apple Devices, 44.1) as an MP4, some of the audio (and some video) drops out. That is, it does not show up in the exported (aka "Shared") movie file.
There are about 7-8 things (tracks) going on at once, maximum.
Any ideas what to do to fix this?

HT3775 Why doesn't QuickTime play audio for some avi videos?

Why doesn't QuickTime play audio for some avi videos? Is there a download to help resovle this.
I am running Mountain Lion, I have also installed flipformac, divx, and vlc. They are working fine.
Appreciate your answers.

You can only use QuickTime Player 7 to play that 12 year old format.

The Portable Wireless Server WG-C10 I purchased in 2014 doesn't stream any audio and some video content after updating phone to Android Lollipop 5.x.
The WG-C10 firmware is the last version which is available and the PWS Manager software is the last version available in Google Play Store.
There are no updates for the WG-C10 firmware nor PWS Manager software since 2013 or for Android 5.x (Lollipop) and I don't know if the WG-C10 firmware is the problem or if the PWS Manager software is the problem.
BTW, I am still able to stream this content on my tablet which is on KitKat (4.4.x) so the files are not corrupted. The only problem is with Lollipop.
PWS Manager in the Google Play Store says it supports Android 4.0+ which is no longer true.
The audio file formats which fail to stream are: mp3 and wav
The video file formats which fail to stream are: mp4, avi and 3gp
JPEG Images appear to work fine, but I haven't tried other formats.
I purchased the WG-C10 to stream audio and video primarily to my phone and now that this no longer works, the WG-C10 is useless to me.
Any ideas?

No audio for some files in the Final Cut Event/Original Media folder

Hi, recently, I noticed that some of the video files stored into the Final Cut Event/"Event"/Original Media folder had no audio. They do have audio when I read them into FCP X but not when I open them as ordinary files in the Finder. It worries me as it makes these files unusable in any other application, unless I "share" them from FCP X. It's no big deal but it's more work and on the principle, it's criminal: why FCP X would strip the audio off an original? Video and photo applications now work on the non-destructive principle!
I usually shoot videos with a DSLR (Canon 550D/T2i) and a GoPro 3. It seems that the files impacted are the ones shot with the Canon and optimized for FCP X. The GoPro files are fine, optimized or not.
Is there any solution to this problem or will I have to export the files from FCP X?

I removed the Media Cache and Media Cache File folders. Didn't seem to make any difference. Also, there's no audio if I try to play it in Organizer.
I have a question regaring "import". What exactly does that mean?
Since all my MTS files are on hard drive already, what I did was:
1) Open a new project in PE9.
2) In the "Organize" tab, click "Get Media"
3) Choose "Get Videos/Photos/Audio from: Files and Folders".
4) In the pop-up window, navigate to my folder and choose the existing MTS file.
Was that called "import"?

Audio drops out when following video to external monitor

When I play a sequence to an external monitor, the audio drops out for 2 to 3 seconds after changes on the video track, and then pops back in with no interuption in video output. It doesn't happen at every cut, but it's consistent in the places it does. I thought it might be caused by the size the project has become. So I exported the sequence as a quicktime file, closed the lage project, opened a new one and exported the new file and played it and it happened again, even though there were no edits. It doesn't occur at all when I turn off external video, and play it on the computer. I connected a new firewire from the computer to my DV deck, restarted the computer, but it keeps happening.
Is it that the dramatic change in color, light and compostion crowding out the audios ability to follow the video through the wire?
I'm completely stumped. The next step will be to open the computer and try to blow any excess dust out. I do this periodically anyway, and my last time was two months ago, so I'd be surprised if it works.
Maybe the G4 with 2G processing power can no longer handle the program, but it shows no sign of stuggle in any other way.
My clients are starting to grow restless.

Thank you so much X & Paul, for your suggestions. Although they didn't solve the problem, they kept me hopeful enough to continue my quest for an answer. After exhausting all effort to find the problem in the audio, I decided to focus on the video. So, I tried correcting the excess luma on the consolidated QT movie, and suddenly the problem was fixed. Because of the different levels of correction I'd need for each and every cut in the original sequence, and the precious time it would take, I'd planned to save it for the color correction stage, a mere 2 weeks away. I remembered how illegal white would often cause the image on some monitors, specifically consumer TVs, to waver for a second. But this was happening all the way back to the DV deck's audio meter, so I never expected it to be a luma issue.
I assume that the outdating capacity of my G4 played a part, but I wanted to write back with my thanks, and to impart my illuminated wisdom to the next perplexed soul.

If you are having same problems or have a miracle cure I am all ears.

May start my own thread, but I'm having similar issues.
I've been using an old iMac (running 10.7.5) and Apple TV for years with no issues. Last week I bought a new Macbook Pro running Yosemite and have had audio issues multiple times. The weird thing is that sometimes it works flawlessly, other times (like now) I spend half an hour just trying to get a song to play.
My issues are: When I got to "computers" in Apple TV to stream my music, my music is sometimes chopper or intermittent, and I seen to know when it's going to happen based on the status wheel just before it plays. When I choose a song, the status wheel will spin for an unusually long time, usually an indicator that the audio is either not going to work, or stutter.
When it does finally pull up a song, the playhead sits at the beginning of the song for a good 3-5 seconds before actually playing. Then, when it starts playing, it's all downhill. It will play a few seconds, drop out, play a few more seconds, drop out, and then ultimately the playhead will keep moving across the song as if it's playing, but there's no audio.
Again, this is a new phenomenon never experienced by me. I've tried everything I could think of, some of them all at once:
• restart Apple TV
• restart Macbook Pro
• quite iTunes/open
• turn off Home Sharing on iTunes then reconnect it
• unplugging and cycling both my modem and router
None of these have alleviated the problem.
The odd thing is, like this morning, the audio started up perfectly and never gave me any issues. It wasn't until later in the day that it started. Perhaps after the macbook pro had been put to sleep? Not sure.
Regardless, this is an annoying trait, one that's new to me and my system (as stated, worked flawlessly until my new purchase), and is 100% limited to either a) the macbook pro b) Yosemite or c) both of them.

AE CS6 AUDIO NOT IN SYNC WITH VIDEO

for some reason my video in AE that i am rendering is not in sync audio wise however
i have the original file and the audio is fine. why is it that in AE the video is not in sync?
i previewed it many time in different scenes
however when the video hits about 2mins the video suddenly becomes off sync
even tho the original video i have isnt. Can anyone explain why?
oh and the frame rate in my video is 30 just incase if anyone asks

Ok my video is in an mp4 format i usally play my media files in vlc
and no i did not render the video as of yet nor did i use some kind of adobe media coder
its a raw film from me playing a video game in my videos folder
the audio is pefect when i play it in vlc however
for some reason when i play in AE the audio suddenly becomes off sync and the audio is ahead of the video

Audio not in Sync with Video in FCP

Hi People, i'm new to this, hoping to find some support.
I have Final Cut Studio 2, im doing an Apple Pro Training series book - 'Final Cut Pro-Beyond the Basics' and im having a problem of the audio not syncing with the video. If i simply play the sequence, the video is ahead by about 7 seconds, and if i stop and start playback (edit) it remains out of sync. However, if i let the sequence play through and loop, when it restarts at the beginning, it appears fine and all fixed, until i stop plyback and start it again. So, the only way to have it work right (to check my edit) is to continue to let the sequence loop and it fixes itself?? In QT it says the clip is DV 720 * 480, 23.98 fps, and so ive checked that in FCP, the settings are the same, and ive played around extensively with the real time plyback settings and sequence settings, but nothing fixes it apart from letting it play til it loops!!!???
Has anyone had this??
Am i missing a setting here?? It seems to have been like this since the update to 10.5.3

Hi People, i have found the answer to my question and thought i might post the cause so anyone else who gets caught can get it sorted.
The answer ended up being that i had an aggregate device as my audio interface (because i have 2 audio interfaces) and so the audio was being delayed in being processed. So i deleted the device in my Audio MIDI Setup (audio page) and thhus, its all good. Quite painfull after a FC reinstall! Ha!!

Why can't I get any audio sound on my Hi8 video capture in iMovie?

I have just captured some video clips from my Hi8 Camcorder and exported it to iMovie on my Apple Mac. Unfortunately there is no audio sound on the captured video. Can any one help? I am using Roxio Video Capture USB to capture the video from my camcorder.

That's the problem. The Roxio device captures in a highly compressed, multiplexed (muxed) format that isn't intended for editing. Muxed files won't playback audio without the proper software installed on your system. You could try using MPEG Streamclip to convert the captured files to an editable format, but that means you'll be taking a double hit on quality.
The proper way to capture analog footage for editing is to use a qualified "DV Device" (DV camcorder, converter or VTR) to convert the analog signal into a Firewire signal and use iMovie, FCE or FCP to capture and edit. Or, in your case, you could use a Digital8 camcorder for playback directly via Firewire.

No audio on some tracks

I'm having an odd problem. I rendered out a bunch of video clips from Vegas Pro 10, all in Sony AVC format with stereo sound, resulting in about 30 .m2ts files. I dragged all the videos into Premier Pro CS5, but for some reason it thinks two of the video files have no audio. They clearly do have audio as they play back fine in various other pieces of software. All 30 .m2ts files were rendered from one project in Vegas Pro 10, all used source from the same avchd video camera, and all 30 rendered files play audio fine everywhere else. Except in Premiere Pro CS5...where I can't seem to get two of them to have their audio recognized.
I know that PP5 has that extra step where it has to conform all audio and it did that, but is it possible that step failed somehow and hence it thinks that two of the video clips have no audio? That's all I can think of as all the clips have stereo audio so I can't figure out why it wouldn't see that. I've tried removing the clips and re-adding them but that didn't help. I tried re-rendering them again from Vegas Pro 10 which has the source project for them, but that didn't help either. Any ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried that and PP5 reconformed all audio but it still didn't work. The problem seems to be that it genuinly thinks these two video files have no audio component. For example I just made a new test project in a different directory, cleaned the media cache, and I added these two files to the project files list along with one other video file of the identical type that I know PP5 recognizes the audio component. I didn't drag any of these files into the timeline yet, they are only in my project file list. Normally when in that project file list, for video files that have audio it will put both video and audio icons on the left side of the file name, and it does that with the one file I know that PP5 recognizes. But with the other two it only puts a video icon, no audio icon. Additionally, scrolling over in that project file list shows that for the files it recognizes, it lists audio correctly as "48000hz compressed stereo", whereas nothing is shown for the other two files, and any audio options for those are grayed out.
Not totally sure what to do here as the files definitely have audio, and forcing multiple reconforms/media cache clears doesn't seem to work. Is it possible that these two files somehow have some audio glitch to which only PP5 seems semsitive to, and hence it aborts on processing any audio? PP5 is the only software I have that seems to be having an issue with audio on these files, Windows Media Player, TMT3, Vegas Pro, etc, all play them just fine. I can't re-shoot the scene so I'm a bit stuck Is there any way to force PP5 to process audio?

Audio works in audio chat, but not in video chats.

So, when I start an audio chat with a friend, we can hear each other just fine. I then switch over to a video chat, and she can hear me, but I can't hear her. I already had to do all sorts of port forwarding in the firewall settings and router in order to rid myself of error -8... this is kind of frustrating!
I fixed the problem a week or so back by simply restarting iChat. When I tried that this time, no dice. Any ideas? Seems odd that it would work in audio chat but not in video chat...

I am having the same issue. Last night my sister and I did a video chat (which took some doing- we are both neophytes which it comes to this technology). It was great! But we had no audio. So we typed our conversation for quite awhile till my sister turned on her speakers...... Then she could hear me!! Now we were excited. But I never could hear them. On the video window there were 3 icons at the bottom, one being a microphone icon which had a line through it. So we are assuming the audio problem is on her end (she's using a Dell) and not at my end (since she could hear me)- is that correct? I checked all my settings and I had my speakers on the whole time with the volume maxed out. I could hear clicks when she wiggled something on her speakers but that was it. Any clue what she needs to check? I know I am posting in a Mac forum but we are giving it try again tomorrow and it would be nice to hear her. I know that there are plenty of us Mac users that have relatives that use PC's so maybe someone might have an answer. Will keep searching though. Judy
