No audio (only video) on external DV device when playing timeline

I have recently switched from using Premiere 1.5 to Premiere CS3, two days ago.
Before I installed the new Premiere CS3 software, I had the basic DV configuration for my system.
Sony MINI DV deck--talks to computer via firewire
--talks to output monitor via RCA cables
Computer--talks to Sony MINI DV deck (via same firewire)
--talks to external HD
--external standard computer speakers
I was editing on Premiere 1.5 and this enabled me to capture as well as playback the timeline, so that the timeline would show up in my Sony MINI DV deck (as well as output monitor, if turned on) and I could record onto MINI DV tapes.
I just installed Premiere CS3 two days ago and have not changed anything in my setup configuration. I WAS not able to get video until I clicked on the record monitor and changed my playback settings. NOW I can see the timeline play back in my Sony MINI DV deck and I can record onto a MINI DV BUT now I still do not have any Audio.
I have played with the various possibilities in the "playback settings" dialogue box but I am still unable to hear any audio on the MINI DV deck, nor on the tape when I play it back.

Audio and video are not in sync when playing movies in iTunes

I have downloaded several movies from the iTunes store, and also ripped two digital copy discs into my iTunes library. When I try to play them, the audio is not in sync with the video. Very frustrating when you see the characters lips move, then about a second or two after, you hear what they were saying.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I am running most current version of iTunes, and QuickTime.

I have looked a little bit more, and it seems as though the video is lagging behind, not the other way around. Video seems choppy, but the audio is playing perfectly. Music Videos are suffering from the same problem as well. Also, when I sync to my iPod Touch 16GB, audio & video match up perfectly.
I still have no idea how to fix this. Please help.

Ah.. then I suspect you just need to go to Logic's prefs/Audio and check CoreAudio...
It has been unchecked somehow...

Repeatedly crashes. What I ended up doing was using a backup Final Cut Projects file and jettisoning this one with the glitch. Luckily, nada much lost. I've had a couple of these weird glitches happen in the Timeline, esp. when dealing with compound audio-only clips & some fx's and rather than spending mega time trying to fix the problem, I bail and start again, and try to be more methodical in my approach.

Premiere Elements 11, 12, or 13 on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit....
You could go back to the project and, in the Edit area, scale out the bouncing bottom edge. I am assuming that it will be visible there.
Then do another burn to folder, and then take the saved folder's VIDEO_TS to DVD disc with your 3rd party software, presumed ImgBurn.
If you want to scale width and height together, then leave the check mark next to Constrain Proportions in Applied Effects Tab/Applied Effects Palette/Motion Panel expanded. If you want to scale width and height separately, the remove the check mark next to Constrain Proportions in Motion Panel expanded.
Please let us know the results. We might consider the Crop Effect also. (fx Effects/Transform/Crop with edits of it int Applied Effects Tab/Applied Effects Palette/Crop Panel expanded).

As far as I know, PPro does not have that capability
If you were creating a DVD in Encore, you could put an "end action" on the video timeline to itself... so at the end of the DVD video it would go back to the beginning
I am not aware of any way to do that for a simple file

No Audio, Only Video - Help

I am brand new to DVD authoring, I used compressor 2 to export 2 hours of video for DVDSP.
Compression went fine, but when I imported assets, it only had video.
Where is the audio? I checked the set-ups but did not see anything relevant to including audio.

I just updated to dvdsp4 with the new compressor.
I had to update to QT7.0.3 too which bothers me.
I went to compress my Imovie .mov file to 90min high quality
and it starts out specifying 1hour 10 minutes for both audio and
video compression but, after about 15 minutes it has added time
to completion to 2 hours 30 minutes.
I had this problem before when qt7 wasn't compatible with compressor and
it would take forever to compress.
I noticed a new compressor in this DVDSP4 upgrade which excited me only to see what looks like the same old problem of incompatibility.
When I used QT6 with DVDSP3 it would compress audio and video quickly with no problems.
Is this still a problem with QT7.0.3 and compressor?

No audio from videos on external hard drive

As the title suggests, i'm having an issue where the video files I have on an external hard drive will not play on my macbook. I've tried copying the files over to the internal hard drive and playing them but it will will not play any sound. The video looks fine, it's just the audio. I've tried playing the files on my home PC and they work just fine. The video files are in .avi format which I don't believe a mac should have any trouble playing, but I could be wrong. Just wondering if anybody has had this problem before and knows of a solution to it? Thanks

If you want to add songs to your iTunes library without iTunes adding the song files to your internal drive, you can do the following.
In iTunes preferences, go to the Advanced tab. Uncheck the checkbox for Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library. Click OK. Add the song files (from the external drive) to iTunes. The songs are added to your iTunes library, but iTunes links to the song files on the external drive (instead of creating a copy in the iTunes Media folder on the internal drive). NOTE: You will need to have the external drive connected when using iTunes going forward, if you want to play and sync those songs going forward.
With this setup, songs that you rip from CD and songs downloaded from the iTunes Store will still be stored on the internal drive, at the location shown in iTunes Preferences Advanced tab, where is says iTunes Media folder location. If you want to move the iTunes Media folder to the external drive, there are additional steps.

My setup is to keep my entire iTunes Media folder on an external drive.
If you already have some of your song files stored outside of the existing iTunes Media folder, you may need to modify the steps somewhat. You can post back, if you want more info based on your current situation.

How can I combine the audio and video files from youtube downloads when they don't automatically combine?

I'm using YouTube Video and Audio Downloader. Sometimes the audio and video files combine automatically, sometimes they don't - remaining as separate " DASH - .m4a and DASH - .mp4 ". It used to be that when this would happen I could open up a "ffmpeg" window which would allow me to "manually" convert them to a combined .mp4 file. It was a "drag and drop" type of interface. For some reason I can no longer access that ffmpeg combining function. I tried clicking on ffmpeg.exe. I tried re-downloading ffmpeg several times, both from the Downloader options tab and from the ffmpeg website.

Imovie11 audio on video clips does not convert when sharing, just get white noise

Imovoie 11 audio on video clips works in project mode, upon sharing to theater or file it generates whitenoise. Project mode has original video sound and added song paired correctly. Comes out as white noise in theater or new file.

I did some more testing this time a shorter 2 minute video. Again trying to mute sections of the audio. I used garageband again to edit. Then convert the MOV with both FFmpegX and Flash 8. FFmepgX converted the file in about 1 minute, but still did not render the muted sections as mute.
I converted then with flash 8 it took about 30 minutes, god that is slow, but it did retain the muted sections. So I'm thinking maybe the FFmepgX converted has an issue with audio tracks that come from garage band.

IPod video fuzzy/blurry and juddrey when played back on video editors

i have recorded many videos on my ipod before but the most recent videos have become fuzzy/blurry when i have uploaded them onto video editors i have tried many different editors but all of them made the video qulity poor, fuzy and juddery. when i play them back on my ipod or PC there absolutly fine but as soon as they are in a video editor the become fuzzy.

(PAL would be less than 768x576 pixels)

A little "better compression" and a lot of "something".
Yes, commercial DVDs are produced by better compressors, but the primary reason for better quality is better original content. Commercial DVDs aren't shot with consumer DV camcorders, while they are shot using a tripod and carefully lit.
MPG-2 works by looking at image frame to image frame variations - things like camera shake and noise due to poor lighting can cause major frame to frame differences in the video stream causing MPG-2 artifacts.
In addition, the commercial content is just a lot sharper to start with - better lenses, 3 chip cameras with more pixels than DV camcorders, as well as no compression of the shot footage (DV stream content is compressed about 4:1).

Only if your source image has the same number of pixels. Your DVD only has (PAL) 768x576 pixels and if you 'blow them up' to something like 1280x1024 (or larger) on your computer monitor the image with 768x576 pixels will look very soft.

I'm still working on understanding this HD workflow... Using an HMC40 avccam I shot some PH720 60P footage. After importing to Premiere Pro CS5 I created a timeline following the guides in http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/production/pdfs/cs5_production_premium_avccam_ wfg.pdf . I found that none of my 60p (or 59.94) sequences give me the option to show realtime playback on my external dv camera. It simply shows "None" as the option for the external device. While 30p (29.97) sequences show up just fine.
Is there a reason for this or is there a work around? I have only played with these few formats so I don't know what else can and cannot be output via firewire to my mindv camera.

Thanks for the reply. I am confused as to why I can view SOME HD sequences but not all via the firewire connection. I am not concerned with seeing HD quality through the minidv camera but it goes to a tv that is usefull to see full screen for coloring and effect previewing. It's nice to see the footage on both LCD and a tube television.
It just seems odd that one sequence can work while the other cannot but I assume it is directly related to 24p vs. 30p vs 60p etc. I haven't seen this in the help file so that's why I asking here. I just want to be sure it's a standard thing and that nothing is wrong on my end... and maybe an explanation so I understand it a bit better...

No Audio, only Video

So, I've tried playing several files from various sources (DVD, files on my harddrive, online, etc) and also downloaded and re-installed quicktime 7.1.6. I'm running mac os x version 10.4.9. When I try to use the slide adjustments on the AV controls I can't adjust the volume. Help! I can only watch but can't listen!

When you make an mpeg2 it separates the video from the audio.
When in Compressor say you chose dvd best quality 90min you will see that there are several options..
Aiff, Dolby, and mpeg2

When you compress you get two files - one for video (m2v) and one for audio (.aif) - have a look in your compressor settings to see where the .aif went, or if you asked it to produce both video and audio (you can get it to do just one). You can also export the audio separately from FCP (or QT, etc) and use that in DVDSP.
