No audio or Dolby drivers

I have an idea centre A720 that is a week old. The sound was not good so I tried looking at the drivers and updated the drivers. Now I have no sound and the Dolby driver has gone. The Red Cross on the task bar states that "no audio hardware is available". I tried playing a Blue Ray disc and an audio CD but neither will play let alone give me any sound.
This is a nightmare.
Can anyone help. I am trying a system restore to try and go back to the system state of 3 days ago to see if that helps.
Not good from a brand new product that will be going back unless I can resolve this quickly.

hi kdunckley,
Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Can you try to:
1. Go to Control Panel > Programs and make sure any signs of Realtek / Dolby programs are uninstalled and reboot
2. Install the sound driver below:
Realtek Audio Driver V6832
h1100540.exe
132 MB
3. When you get the sound back, reconfigure Dolby by going to Control Panel (large icon view) > Dolby Home Threater and tweak the equalizer settings.
If you're still not satisfied with the built-in stereo speakers (3 watt x 2), you will need to get an external speakers for high quality sound.
Hope this helps

See if the graphics driver directly from Intel works for you...

Try the audio driver directly from Realtek.  Accept the agreement.  DL and install the second driver on the list.

  • HELP: S10-3 Audio Problem - Dolby Headphone

I have recently purchased a Lenovo S10-3 laptop.
One of the features that I noticed is virtual headphone surround sound by Dolby.
The problem that I have is that when I enable it, the volume becomes unbalanced. The left headphone speaker plays twice as loud as the right one. The sound quality is much better with it on and I really want to use it, but I cannot because of this problem. I tried individually adjusting speaker volume, but there is a significant loss of audio quality and surround effect if i do so, not to mention that the sound then becomes unbalanced again if I use the volume control.
I am using Windows 7 and the Win7 Drivers supplied with the laptop.
TL;DR: Left Speaker Louder than Right with Dolby Headphone Surround enabled.

This happens with any and all headphones.
My Realtek Control Panel looks different from that picture.
My one looks like this. (for both versions of the windows 7 driver)
The driver from the website is version 6.0.1.5989
The driver supplied with the laptop is version 6.0.1.6113
I am not sure whether this feature exists in earlier drivers and whether the problem exists in Windows XP.
My ancient PC sound card only works properly in XP, but I would not expect a new PC to have problems with windows 7 drivers.
Below is the closest matching image that I could find online. While mine looks slightly different, this is the feature that I am having problems with.
    Link to picture
The feature works similarly to Creative's CMSS 3D, but in addition to expanding the sound, the centre channel (L+R : Vocals and bass) seem to be panned to the left, and that is the problem.
The driver from the website does not have this feature. It seems it was included in the newer version, but not coded properly.

  • G60-235dx no audio seen and drivers refuse to install

what can I do to get audio back? I have had a HD failure and reinstalled the OS when it finished I see nothing but red x at speaker and no audio seen.

    Quote from: Bigglesw0rth on 16-December-07, 09:48:28
The system stats are irrelevant. The mobo is in the subject. 7125-60 is the exact model.
Windows install (the whole XP line) only needs two files in the initial phase of install (after F6). This is simply so the installer itself can see the RAID. After that (directly after the format if you choose to format) and right before the install starts loading all the files it needs before the first restart, it will access teh floppy to get the rest of what it needs for XP itself to be able to see the RAID. That is what is not happening.
In Xp Pro (non Media Center Edition), the second access of the floppy after the format goes though perfectly fine. In Media Center Edition it tried to access teh floppy, then simply refuses to load the files off teh floppy.
Its pissing me off at this point. Right now my theory is that some sort of asinine protection Microsoft "protection" (possibly driver sig) is blocking the drivers from loading, and XP MCE is loading its own non-working retarded drivers.
Ive tried slipstreaming and it didnt work the first time. I dont have vmware to test it on and I dont want to screw up too many DVDs, and simply using XP Pro is not a solution, its a 'i give up' stage.
    Hi,
    A couple of thoughts:
    1) When you load the initial driver floppy (F6), does it give you a choice of which drivers to load?  Typically, when I've had to do the F6 thing, there'd be multiple sets of drivers, and I'd get a menu and have to select the correct one.  If so, was there a menu item specifically for XP Media Edition (or whatever it's called)?
    2) Are you by any chance using a USB floppy drive?  There's a reference here to an MS KB article (916916) about compatible USB floppies:
    http://groups.google.com/group/comp.sys.intel/msg/df7b2411c347566f
but, I searched the MS KB, and couldn't find that article.

  • Audio and Modem Drivers - No Soundmax

    All,
After pulling my hair out yesterday I wanted to share my findings. I have a T61p with a Thinkpad modem. After using the modem for about 2 minutes it will crash BSOD citing HSF_CNXT.sys. Upon restart I did not have audio. I did not realize that my modem and audio share the same bus. Long story short if you use your modem and your laptop crashes and upon restart you have no audio or modem do not do the whole uninstall/reinstall driver routine. Simply turn off your laptop, unplug the power supply, take out the battery, press the power button put it all back together and restart and it will work (hopefully). Go buy a real external modem and forget you have an internal modem.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
Before Conexant Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) here
Conexant High Definition Audio Drivers here
This will create a swsetup folder in c drive ("C:\swsetup\sp34200")
Installing Audio drivers may result in an error. But continue with the following steps to get the audio driver installed correctly.
    Open the Device Manager:
    1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
    2. Right click on "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus" and click Update driver.
    3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
    4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
    5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from the list.
    6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
    7. Click Browse C:\swsetup\sp34200 folder and select the .inf (wis30b2a) file and click open and Continue with the onscreen instructions.
    Similarly install Modem Drivers:
Conexant HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP here
1.Right click on "Modem device on High Definition Audio Bus" and click Update driver.
    2. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
    3. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
    4. Click Next and then select "Modem" from the list.
    5. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
    6. Click Browse C:\swsetup\sp33890 folder and select the .inf (wis30b2b) file and click open and Continue with the onscreen instructions.

  • Audio and video drivers defect?

    Hello there,
since yesterday i have a big problem with my iMac. It can't play any Audio and Video anymore. Video editing like Final Cut Pro 7, Premiere Pro and After Effects are crashing, when youre trying to start them. Same thing with iTunes and Diablo 3. Photoshop seems to work fine. Browsing in the internet is fine but also no video and audio here. And my system seems to be way slower than before.
What did happen? Well i was working in after effects and hearing some music via iTunes and had some preview running in the finder (cover flow i think is the name of feature), Then the sound stopped but i didnt bother to much about it. But then cover flow also stopped working. So i did a restart and after that the problems were there.
My Suggestion: After Effects is missing output-modules, in the audio menu in the system preferences there is no output modul avaiable either (no, even no digital) although the boot sound works perfectly. So i guess the drivers for audio and video aren't working anymore. But i have no idea how to fix this.
What i've tried: i've reseted  the nvram two times, i install mac os X snow leopard again (without deleting the previour installation) and run all updates. I also reseted the System Control Manager (unplug the imac for fifteen seconds) and run the Apple Hardware Test. The latter said there is an error 4MDT/4/40000003:HDD -1299. No fking clue what this means. Google didn't help.
Can someone help me pls or do you know if the people at the genius bar can handle this kind of problem? I have an appointment at the genius bar on saturday, but i have no idea how trained these people are at fixing mac os issues.
ah and before i forget: i didnt configure the time machine :/ so there is no easy moving back to a time the imac was working.

Yeah i know its the hard disk drive. I just cant find anything what this code means besides theres something wrong with hdd
And yes i already backed it up, but anyway thanks for your advice.

  • News Update - M-Audio Releases New Drivers!

Hi Everyone. Those of you who use M-Audio interfaces can now download 10.4.5 PPC drivers from the M-Audio web site. Intel drivers to follow very shortly. Enjoy.
    http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support.drivers

Hm. I know that you endorse M-Audio a lot, but we'll see how "very shortly" the Intel drivers will be there. Right now there's only a couple of betas.
(I just grabbed my MacBook after 4 weeks of being told that it would arrive "very shortly", and I didn't get the one I ordered - so I have some principal skepticism against software and hardware companies' announcments.)

  • Sometimes Audio Othertimes No Drivers Installed? Model :F765EA

Hello, on my compaq laptop model f765ea when i boot the laptop up some times the little speaker in the bottom right of the screen has a cross thro it saying there is no audio drivers installed i have tried reinstallingbut this does not work?
some times when i turn the laptop on there is no cross thro the speaker and the audio is a bit hit and miss.
    any ideas?

    Hello Fernando,
First you might keep windows update regularly to obtain the latest driver for your device. Note: Drivers on the Windows Update site are directly provided by hardware manufacturers. Microsoft tests drivers in various environments before they are published; however, we cannot guarantee all drivers will work on all hardware platforms as there are too many different models, although their hardware ID are the same as the standard version. In some cases, due to hardware modifications by different manufacturers, the driver updates may cause some error.
Meanwhile, please understand that Windows 7 is a new operating system and whole driverstore has been reprogrammed; you might wait for another period of time till the retail version is released and push the vendor company to upgrade their device driver. Thanks for your time and understanding!
For more details, please look at the first Sticky thread at the top of this forum.
What can I do if my hardware does not work?
This will give you some guidelines.
    Good Luck!

  • Hardware specifics on audio and Linux drivers

    S300-EZ2502 owner here.
Pretty happy with how it works with windows. Never much liked windows though.
    Did an Ubuntu 9.04 installation.
    Everything except audio worked.
I am confused as to who made the driver and to whether there are Linux drivers and configurations for this card.
Linux has always worked well on my prior Toshiba Laptops.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Eureka!
If you use the link I posted earlier and/or info from here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=416207&page=4
... What it involves is changing the codec by editing the alsa-base.conf file...
    sudo /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
...then adding a line to the end of the file...
    options snd-hda-intel model=auto
... only "auto" didn't work for me. Tried several of the options at http://git.alsa-project.org for my sound card before finding one that worked.
Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but this works for me:
    options snd-hda-intel model=acer

  • Audio driver help: Drivers too old, don´t know where to find new ones

As i said in the title, IDT high def audio codecs for my machine are nowhere to be found and HP autodetect tool seems to think my laptop does not exist.
    http://www.alza.cz/EN/hp-pavilion-dv6-6130ec-d245498.htm#popis
This is my laptop. Pretty old one, had it for 3 years now. Lately im experiencing audio trouble of 1-2 seconds delay between action and corresponding sound. For example, If i get an error, i hear the sound 2 seconds later.
According to my DxDiag the audio drivers are over 3 years old now, and i cannot for the life of me find any IDT drivers on the internet that are compatible with my machine.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    Hello, @majogl
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you're looking to update the Audio driver. I will try to assist you with this.
Here is the drivers page for your notebook: HP Pavilion dv6-6130ec Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers.
The audio driver listed is the only one available for the notebook. I was however, able to find this one: IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver. Not much newer, but should work and is newer than the website.
Try it and see if it helps.
Thank you for posting on the HP forums.
I worked on behalf of HP.
