No Audio Output after Upgrading to windows 7; Soundblaster Card is installed

After upgrading to Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit), I found that my speakers (which are built into my HP w2207 monitor) are not recognized.  In the notification area I have the speaker with a red x in it, and it says “No Audio Output Device is installed”.
I have a HP Pavilion D4890Y with the Sound Blaster Audigy X-FI 24-Bit Xtreme sound card.  I tried looking in Device Manager, and found “Multimedia Audio Controller” under Other, which states no drivers could be found.
I tried following some of the advice online, and downloaded the latest Realtek High Definition Audio drivers, but and the download seems to run successfully, but I don’t notice any differences.  When I reboot as prompted, I’ve still got the same error.
I then tried forcing the Audio Device to use a Realtek driver, but Windows protests (saying it’s not sure it’s compatable with my device, and I end up with “Realtek High Definition Audio” under “Sound, video and game controllers”, but it has a yellow exclamation point.  If I click properties, the device status says “This device cannot start (Code 10).” If I try to update the driver I get the message that it cannot find the driver software.   If I uninstall the driver I’m back to the original problem (multimedia audio controller under original devices, with no known drivers).
I also tried downloading various files from the Creative site, but it’s not clear which one to use, and the 4 or 5 different ones I tried (including their recommended beta version for Windows 7), when each of them opens it says it can’t find any supported devices.
Suggestions?  Thanks!

Hi,
"If the driver is a previous revision install it using the TROUBLESHOOT COMPATIBILITY tool that is part of the Windows 7 OS.
To use the tool, uninstall any drivers for the sound card you show listed in Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall Programs  list.  Delete the Device from Device Manager.
Download the revision of the driver from www.creative.com  website to a folder you've created and placed on your desktop.
After the driver is downloaded, navigate to the "setup.exe" of the driver and Right Click - select Troubleshoot Compatibility  ----
Let the compatibility tool select a possible solution then use its suggestion of TRY RECOMMENDED WINDOWS SETTINGS, if it does not find a solution it will submit only CUSTOMIZE SETTINGS and let you install it as you designate."
The preceding information comes from a Microsoft Windows 7 forum regarding an issue similar to yours.
the information you provided did verify that it is a sound blaster XiFi Extreme card as checked against the Vendor / Device list.

after upgrading to windows 7 audio is not working error audio device not install driver error...

    Hi,
You will need to identify your CPU and chipset. CPU-z is a free and safe utility that can do that for you.
If your system has an Intel chipset with disccrete or onboard graphics or an NVIDIA chipset with onboard graphics, then the drivers are here at this Realtek download page.
If your notebook is an AMD CPU and NVIDIA chipset, with a discrete graphics module installed, then the driver for your Conexant CX20549-12 will be here.
Post you results here in your thread so others rsearching for the same information can benefit from it.

Hello , Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I have read your post on how your notebook computer's monitor will not produce any sound after upgrading to Windows 10, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter! According to the available list of supported drivers for your monitor, there is currently no Windows 10 software published at the moment.  In the meantime, I recommend following the steps in this document on HP Products - Where do I find Windows 10 drivers and software for my model? I also suggest connecting the monitor on a different computer to test the hardware functionality of the speakers. I hope this helps! Best Regards

  • Dolby Home Theater v4 not working after upgrading to Windows 10

Hi there, I just upgraded to Wndows 10 Home from Windows 8.1; everything went smoothly except for the fact that Dolby Home Theater v4 does not work. I had to reinstall it using the .msi file found in the Realtek Audi folders. I chose v4 over any of the other versions because I like how I can tune the equalizer to my liking and different uses. Anyways, the regular audio works and Dolby is turned on but there is no activity appearing on the equalizer and my music does not change once adjusted. Had this problem when doing an optional audio driver update in the past when I was running 8.1. I do not have the option to rollback the driver after upgrading to Windows 10. Does anyone have a solution to this issue or know what the correct Realtek driver is to make Dolby work? This is one of my favorite features of my laptop and I really want it up and running again! Thank you in advance! JakeStiebs My unit: Lenovo Ideapad Z580 running Windows 10 Home with Realtek Audio Driver 6.0.1.7535

one more thing. I was not able to download cleanup tool/online scanner too. but may be it has something to do with my internet bandwidth. and other strange thing i observed is that before restart i was not even able to turn off all security features. but after restart that problem seems to be corrected.

  • Sound distorted after upgrade to windows 10

sound playing is generalldistorted after upgrade to windows 10 pro. Individual sound elements in windows sound scheme seem to be OK.

Yup, you're not the only one with audio problems. I have a HP Split X2 also, my model is the m121-sa. The problem is that the company that makes the audio chips is IDT which has been sold to a new company called Tempo Semi Conductors (This has been done in early 2014). The new company will have to provide new Windows 10 drivers to support our audio chips, whilst they have made Windows 10 drivers for their newer chips; our old ones has no current drivers made officially for Windows 10. Microsoft are aware of this problem and will not be making any drivers - their solution is to use the Microsoft drivers by unistalling the driver through device manager and updating the driver to the Microsoft High Definition ones. The problem with the HP Split is that you loose beats audio and the audio is quiet, but it works on all apps. NEITHER HP OR MICROSOFT WILL PROVIDE A DRIVER That is above the IDT .6499. It is upto Tempo Semi Conductors to do this and they don't provide end user drivers but OEM's like HP. The problem only lies with metro apps, win32 apps such as Chrome has audio working... If you are having problems with the audio being quiet with the HP Windows 8 drivers (IDT), use the following settings. (though, I think my laptop is defective, but my warranty is gone so, I just turn up the treble - even though it sounds high pitched)  On a side note, my other laptop (Toshiba) have been good by providing drivers for all components - Hopefully, Tempo do provide support for IDT as not only HP but other companies also use this chip. By the way, do you problems with start menu being black and blurrly text? For some reason, Windows 8 drivers don't do this but Intel Windows 10 drivers do this. Miracast also only works on the .37 driver and not the newest Windows 10 driver; will need to test this further. Yes there are new TEMPO drivers, but these again  are for the new chips and not our old ones. It didn't work on my HP Split but you can try them below: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71717.html - notes for new driver 6.10.6504.0 http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501.exe - setup 6.10.6504.0 (64 BIT ONLY; WILL NOT WORK ON 32BIT) 32bit driver is 6.10.6503.0 EDIT: HP seems to be deleting my images. Not sure why.

  • Internal Microphone inop, after upgrading to Windows 10

I have two HP Pavilion 11 x360 PCs, after upgrading to windows 10, both internal microhones do not work.  I have tried using a bluthooth headset, (audio works) but the microphone does not. I have tried upgrading the soundcard driver using the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver ( Realtek Semiconductor Corp.  -  6.0.1.7564) found on HP's driver website and is still will not work.

Rolled back one of the PCs to Win 8.1 and am in the process of updating the drivers, thus far the microphone still does not work.

  • After upgrading to Windows 8.1 firefox longer works. I got it to load but screen is either blank or doesn't go to target address

after upgrading to Windows 8.1 from 8 nothing works correctly. Firefox 1st received 'unable to load XPcom' After resetting and uninstalling several times Firefox now loads to either a support screen or blank screen. It accepts address input but doesn't execute to target. So far I have been unable to roll back upgrade.
Although IE11 works, it doesn't work correctly.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Keyboard wireless key not working after upgrading to windows 8.1

    Hello,
I am having hp pavilion dv6-6165tx notebook, where keyboard having a wireless button that turns ON and OFF all wireless devices, After upgrading to windows 8.1, HP Connection Manager is not getting installed, as well as Key is not working, key color turns red and white but no action is performed.
    Kindly suggest me some solution.
Note: HP Doesn't provide drivers for windows 8/8.1 ONLY WINDOWS 7 for hp pavilion dv6-6165tx.
    Thanks.

    Hi @Jayesh_Bhadja ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv6-6165tx Notebook and the Wireless keyboard not working correctly. Here is a link to troubleshoot the keyboard.
The HP Connection Manager is something that is for Windows 7 not Windows 8.1. I would uninstall this from your Notebook.  Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating. It has a troubleshooting tool in this.
Make sure all your updates have been completed. I would try restarting my Notebook a few times.
If that does not help I would uninstall the keyboard from the Device manager.
    Thanks.

  • Ethernet LAN not working after upgrading to windows 8.1

After upgrading from Windows 8 to 8.1, my Ethernet LAN is no longer working. Wireless LAN connectivity is OK. I have run the HP Support Assistant and downloaded the drivers for 8.1. Hovever, I do not see a 8.1 driver listed for the Ethernet LAN.

You're very welcome. See if the recovery manager still works so you can roll back to W8. Please read this guide for how to use it. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03489643 If it doesn't then you will have to order a set of recovery disks from HP, or you can install this plain W8 OEM software this guy has posted on a link. Lots of folks have used it successfully, which is why I posted it. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0W9PBigPy94aVJWSndyTFNFMzg/edit?pli=1 Then use this tool to make the iso file bootable to a DVD or 4+ GB USB flash drive. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool Yes, that really stinks why you and I could not upgrade without an issue. I disabled about 5 or 6 devices in the device manager and the code 12 would not go away. I have no clue why the PC works fine on W8 but not on W8.1. My notebook is a few years older than yours and it worked fine on W8.1 but not on W10. Go figure...
