No Audio Playback through External Speakers

Audio Meters indicate audio is playing. Mute is not engaged. "Canvas Playback" is checked. Perhaps the problem is in the setup, where it indicates that "Playback Output Audio" is sent through Firewire DV. My speakers run through USB, not Firewire. However, the only way I can access setup is through "Easy Setup" which gives me no option to change audio output to anything other than firewire.

The audio will not go out via USB. It will only go to the internal speakers or the speaker jack or go out via FireWire.

    I would try in oreder:
    - Resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restoring the iPod via iTunes.  First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

Using Airport Express for External speakers and Apple TV.  When I'm on MAC computer adn using internet sound from Internet does not go through external speakers.  Instead it comes out of Mac computer speaker.  Why?

As far as I know, the Airport Express only transmits sounds via Itunes. So every other sound (internet, but also incoming mail) will be coming out of your mac instead of your external speakers.

  • Audio input through external microphone not 'heard' by computer

I can record audio with any app through the builtin mic.  And I know the system 'hears' sound through the builtin mic when I go to SystemPreferences->Sound->Input.
I have an external microphone that I want to record through.  I went to SystemPreferences->Sound->Input and chose 'Line In' and plugged in the microphone's lead into the 'in' jack.  However the SystemPreferences->Sound->Input Input Level sensor/detector is dead -- it shows no audio input.  Nor does iMovie pick up any audio input when the mic is plugged in.
I know the input jack works by plugging in the output pin from a cassette-player, choosing 'Line In', and playing a cassette.  The Input Level sensor/detector comes on and the sound is available to apps.
I know the external microphone works by plugging it into the cassette-player and recording from it and tapping and rubbing on its pick-up.  The sounds are captured on cassette tape.
So why is audio input through external microphone not 'heard' by the computer?  Is there some trick to making it work?

There are a few possibilities, but the most likely is that your microphone does not produce enough signal to be "heard" through the Mac line input. Usually this is normal, with most microphones producing perhaps 1/100th of the signal needed, which would be called "mic level".
You cassette deck probably outputs "line level", much stronger and strong enough to register in the Mac Line input. Similarly, the cassette deck microphone input is probably "mic level" and much more sensitive than the Mac line input.
There are other possibilities, such as a powered microphone, but you have not provided any model numbers or specifications to analyze.
Try this: plug in the microphone like you did before, and make a really loud sound right in front of the mike, like clapping hands. You may see or hear a faint sound register on the Mac.
The usual cure is to buy a microphone preamplifer. You can also buy a new microphone with a built-in preamplifier. You can also buy a USB microphone or preamplifier device that bypasses the analog Line input entirely.

  • No sound through external speakers on my iphone 4s but headphones work fine! When headphones unplugged volume button shows headphones not plugged in! Tried all solutions suggested here to no luck?!??

No sound through external speakers but fine through headphones! Button on left is not on mute and checked all settings and all fine! Tried all solutions here but no luck! Sound gone before I updated the software??

You may have debris in your headphone jack blocking the sensor.  Try blowing hard on the jack, and inserting/removing your headphones quickly multiple times to clear it.

Problem here is you admit you cannot afford the service.
And you want to blame Verizon for losing a job because you have no cell phone.
If your job depends on that phone I would pay it on time every time if you need a job to pay your bill.
No other service is going to treat you any different. And if you cannot afford Verizon's monthly invoice how are you going to afford new devices, activation fees, possible security deposits on any other cellular carrier? You can't.
Also if you made an arraignment to pay and then decide you cannot do so, why should Verizon extend you service or credit, or why is it you want to use the service and data and not pay for it as agreed.
Get a prepay phone. Its evident the cost is too high for you to afford on post pay.

  • E93z All in One I want Audio playback through speakers and headphones at the same time

    Hi there,
As the subject line reads I am hoping to enable playback through both the headphone and internal speakers on the E93z All in One unit I have.
Is there is currently a way to do this with the Lenovo HD Audio software for the Realtek system? It detects the headphones and does the typical shut off of the internal speakers however no option to enable playback through both seems to exist.
Running Windows 7 Pro 32 bit.
I cannot enable stereo mix (by right clicking in the playback area of the sound settings in Windows) to try and come up with a work around.
I have tried re-installing the drivers and not luck with more options to do this.
I have tried un-installing the Lenovo HD audio software and still no luck using the vanilla Windows 7 software.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well basically I want to hook in some external speakers via the headphones jack and the more speakers the better, I just figure if there's a way to have 4 speakers instead of just two it'd be cool, why let the internal speakers go to waste?
Do you know if plugging in headphones physically cuts off the internal speakers or if it's a software/driver thing?
    Thanks to all who've replied
I'm pretty sure it's all in the OS, since the level control is right at the top. You can actually customize sound profiles individually for headphones or the built-in speaker, or any other sound devices. You can also use Bluetooth headphones (or a headset) or USB output devices. As far as I know, only one can be selected (in System Preferences) even if multiple ones are plugged in.

  • Audio not playing through external speakers

I have all the right connections and get nothing.
I am trying to use my laptop in my home theater room. I have a DVI to HDMI cable for video and then I have a Mini Plug adapter (headphone jack) on a Co-AX cable for my audio which is plugged into my receiver. I went into the menu of my receiver and made sure I selected the correct set up and I still get no audio. I am not getting any video either for that matter. I have a HD Projector with 3 HDMI inputs so I am not sure why I am not seeing anything.
Now I do have an HDTV elsewhere in my house and I hooked my Macbook Pro to that and switched the input of the TV to HDMI and I WAS able to see my desktop on the TV. However, the audio was not playing. I had the audio plugged into the PC Audio Input on the TV but only heard the audio when I switched from HDMI to PC on my TV.
I only hooked it up to my HDTV as a test to see if my cables were bad which they are not. I am just not sure why I can't get it to work in my Theater room!

Its not weird at all. FCP is designed for it's output to be monitored on an external TV and speakers via your Mac's Firewire output (or dedicated capture card, if you have one). If you prefer not to monitor the recommended way, in FCP, go to View->Audio Playback and choose the setting you want.

  • Problem with audio of my notebook. Audio works through pc speakers and earphones at the same time

    Hi all,
thanks in advance for your advices.
I have a problem with my notebook (HP pavilion g6 2305 sl).
The problem is that when I connect my earphones the audio of my pc don't stop, hence I can hear (music, film, ...) both by earphones and speakers at the same time.
I tried to install again the latest driver audio, but nothing was changed.
I tried to use another pair of earphones, but nothing.
I have noted that if I connect the Jack at my pc, but not until the end, the audio stops from the speakers and goes through the earphones, but only if the jack is not completly inserted in the notebook.
I read a lot of forum on the web but I'm not able to find a solution for my problem.
(ps. the problem comes out suddenly, without any signal. I don't have installed any update or new software before the problem's start)

Right click on speaker icon, lower right screen.
    Choose playback devices.
Select "speakers and headphones" as your default.
    Disable "communications headphones".

  • Strange sound coming through external speakers

On my 2010 iMac there is a problem when *no audio* is coming out through the external speakers (connected via the headphone port).
If i play any sound (even change the volume and get the 'blip' sound) and then go back to silence, after 5 - 10 seconds I can hear a strange buzzing/hissing sound.
Even when I'm playing music there is no buzzing/hissing but when I pause the track, 5 - 10 seconds later the sound returns.
Using these speakers through my macbook there is no such problem, only the iMac.
I think this may be related to a recent software update since it is a new problem. Any ideas?
    thanks.

Could there be a Ground loop in something connected to the iMac?

  • Lion audio dropouts with external speakers?

Since I installed OS 10.7.3 (upgraded from 10.6.8), I get audio dropouts whenever I use external speakers.  I use my Mini (purchased a year ago in Feb 2011) connected to my TV for Skype, Netflix, and listening to iTunes, so this effectively eliminates my ability to use it.  I don't get dropouts if I use the internal speakers, and it doesn't seem to matter whether I'm using iTunes to play something resident on the internal hard drive or watching something on Netflix streaming over wifi, or whether I have wifi or bluetooth on or off.  The external speakers are run through an HDMI cable connecting the computer and the TV.

Updates applied, at least one of which caused reccurrence of my audio dropout problem (I'm guessing iTunes is the culprit):
    iPhoto Update 9.2.2
    GarageBand Update 6.0.5
Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 3.10
    Application Loader 2.5.1
    Safari 5.1.4
    iTunes 10.6

  • Mac Mini making strange noises through external speakers

I am experiencing a strange problem with my mac mini and my external speakers. I have two different sets of speakers and the problem occurs with both so I don't think its the speakers as I have never had any problems with them on my other computers. The Mini will make strange gurgling and hissing noises through the speakers at seemingly idle cpu times. Under heavy loads I get the gurgle occasionally but it seems more prevalent at idle times. After playing around with it I have noticed a direct correlation with my wireless connection and the noise. If the mini drops the network, which it does from time to time, I get the noises but if I disable airport then they stop. Have any other mini users experienced this? It's harmless but rather annoying because my mini is set up in my dorm room and we often have music playing and when I go to sleep I hear these weird noises.
Thanks for the feedback in advance.

The Airport sub-system in the mini is identical to any other Airport Extreme equipped Mac, with the addition of a riser board on which the AE card is mounted, and which no other Mac has.
If the mini suffered a design flaw in Airport implementation, then everyone would be hearing the same sound. Neither AE-eqipped minis I've got in my system exhibit any sign of it.
RF interference can get into an audio system in a number of ways - most commonly by direct injection (ie, something in the audio circuit such as a circuit board track or speaker wire) acting as an antenna and picking up an unwanted signal, or by FR breakthrough into the power circuit - usually through the transformer or rectifiers. In the first instance, a change in channel would change the transmission frequency and thus the sensitivity of the component to the signal (thus usually making it stop altogether) and in the second, would usually require a transmission power of significantly higher level than the few milliwatts used by Airport.
There are other possible causes too of course. Even a cordless phone in the same vicinity is capable of generating RF interference - but then stories of people listening to radio stations breaking through into phone lines, and even when opening oven doors are legion - and often true.
In the case of an Airport network, where the user has control over transmission power levels and frequency, a bit of tinkering with the two can resolve many FR interference issues. Incidentally, if you're interested (given your general technical background) a number of very informative sources on RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) are published for and by the amateur radio fraternity.

  • Pavillion 15 n097sa laptop. L and R audio coming through both speakers at same time.

Hi, so basically, i have just upgraded to this 15 n097sa laptop (new to me) from my old aspire, and it is sooo much better.
Only, I have just noticed that when either left or right sound is coming out of both speakers at once. i noticed it whils wearing headphones. the left definitely comes out of the left slightly more, and the right as well respectively, but they still come out of both speakers quite a lot.
To make that clearer, the left only channel is coming through both speakers at once, instead of just the left speaker. And the same for the right channel.
i have only done a real test on youtube stereo test videos, the same i tested on my old acer before, which came out of correct speakers.
i have a dts sound, whatever that is, and it could be down to simply changing the settings, but i don't think that's it.
Does anyone else have or have had this issue too?
I know i am a pc simpleton, but please go steady on me, ta.
