No audio when burning from idvd 6.01

I have been watching this discussion point for several days as I have had exactly the same problem. I have created a 40 minute iMovie with 10 audio tracks then went to share it with iDVD. The movie came across but the audio didn't - just a horrible crackling noise. I just kept trying and on the 6th attempt it came through with the sound attached - I did lock the audio tracks to the relevant playheads as someone had suggested. But then I came to burn the dvd and idvd 6.01 went all the way to the encoding process then hung on the very last audio encoding forcing me to Force Quit.
So with the newly aquired tip about burning a disk image instead of burning direct from iDVD I first deleted the encoded assets - also kindly suggested on this forum then using Disk Utility I selected my disk image ann hit burn.
Hey Presto!! It worked, I now have all my underwater video set to music that I can bore everyone (except me) with. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to offer help and suggestions on this forum. It clearly is a bug that Apple needs to fix but at least I have been lucky enough to get around the problem.

  • Multiplexer error when burning from IDVD

I am getting a Multiplexer error after rendering a movie from IDVD. The project is 7GB in the "project info" screen. When I open the folder in "documents" it says its size it 92 KB. "Project info" says I have over 60 GB available. ? Do I need an external hard drive? Am I out of memory? Thank you!!

I am also having a multiplexing error using IDVD and I movie 09. I like to think I can solve these types of problems on my own but I am running out of good ideas. I have spent the last 10 days trying to burn the same project. I have pages of notes of things I have tried. I have been using I DVD for several years and this is the first serious problem I have encountered. I believe that this issue needs to be resolved by Apple.
I don't believe that size is an issue. My project is 240 min long and is created using 2 seperate IMovie Projects. The first one burned just fine but the second one gives a Multiplexer error at the end of Processing the Movies. I was able to isolate the part of the movie that causes the error by using QT to split the original movie into parts. Once I was able to isolate the parts of the video that will consistently fail I tried to re produce the original source clips and replace them in the original project (also tried twice to re create the project from scratch). Unfortunately the same error happens.
I am willing to try any other suggestions so please share if you know what is going on. I am getting desperate as this Movie is for a customer and I need to deliver.

  • Garbled audio when burning to idvd 08

I have idvd 7.0.1 and imovie 6.0.3. Everytime I burn my present project it burns seemingly without errors. But then when i put it in my mac it just spits it the dvd without playing it. I've then taken the dvd and put it in a dell laptop and the dvd video plays fine but the audio is garbled. Any suggestions on what might be wrong and how to fix the problem? Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi
    Three thoughts.
    • free space on internal (start-up) hard disk ? 25Gb or more ?
    • How did You go from iMovie to iDVD ? via Share/Export to iDVD" within iMovie ?
I don't I close iMovie and open iDVD then either drop the movie icon (with a Star on it)
    or import it into iDVD.

  • The error #-2147352543 was reported- when burning from iDVD

I created a DVD project in iDVD and used Share to use iDVD. When I click the burn button I get this error: "The error #-2147352543 was reported…" I clicked on the map and there are no error triangles. The error appears almost immediately. My iDVD software is up to date. I was able to burn a short DVD a few days ago without problems.
    Please help.

error message as soon as I click the burn button.
Can you create a disk image?
Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the DVD. File/Save as Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/6.0/en/18.html
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/image_to_diskstone.html
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. If you hold your mouse cursor over the pop-up it says: "Select a slower speed to work around burn failures," so select 4x or slower for best results. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • Imovie project when burned thru idvd looks horrible

I have worked for several months on making my first Imovie. It is about 1hr in length. It combines both narration, video, soundtrack and still images. When I previewed the project on imovie looked great. I can also export thru quicktime and it looks good, but not as good as it does in imovie. When I followed the directions on how to export to Idvd, I was unaware of how poorly the finished project looked in Idvd. I burned it and was let down as all my titles where pixelated and the still images are combing real bad. Also some of the images are jerky in the ken burns effect. I find this frustrating as I can save it as a quicktime file and it looks pretty good (but not as good as in imovie). It appears to me that everything I have tried as far as importing to idvd looks horrible when Idvd gets done with it. In fact even the Idvd menu I made looks pixelated and horrible. I am making this dvd to sell to others and to present at talks I am giving. The quality is so poor I am thinking about bagging the whole project. I noticed on the forums regarding both idvd and imovie many of the questions about the quality degredation in idvd dont get answered. Or when they do get answered, the answer is to purchase final cut or more software in general. What I want to know is can I make my excellent looking imovie look acceptable in idvd? If not, why? Why would mac make a option to make a movie project look good in imovie, but the only way to export it is to make it look horrible? Also, is there a way to make a dvd in idvd that looks as good as my Imovie project (without dropping 1,000$ for more software which I am not going to do as now I don't trust it until I see it first)? What am I missing here?

    Hi Adam,
Just some general comments about exporting from iMovie '09. From posts on the forum, and from my own experience, it's best not to use Apple's preset export option "Share to iDVD". You may not have used this, but it produces an AIC (Apple Intermediate Codec) movie that doesn't look good when burned through iDVD, for some reason. Odd, considering that iMovie edits in this format. _The option "Share to Media Browser" gives much better results._
You don't mention what format your source footage is (to the best of my recollection). This may have a bearing on the final result (burned DVD). Is it DV or AVCHD or some other format? iMovie '09 has a reputation for producing less than stellar results with DV footage, due to the way it handles interlaced material. AVCHD footage turns out quite well on DVD after editing in iMovie.
If you have not already tried this, export using "Share to Media Browser". In iDVD, from the Media tab, drag your movie into the background area of the iDVD theme, then proceed to set up the DVD as usual. When sharing to the Media Browser, you have a range of sizes to select from. Try Large (960x540) and also HD (1280x720). I've used both but see little difference, if any, in the final DVD. But I do get quite good results with both. The picture is softer and less saturated when compared with the original AVCHD footage viewed via the camcorder on an HD TV. This is to be expected, given one is HD and the other SD, of course. But it shouldn't be as bad as you are describing.
There are many posts about DVD quality on the forum. As you would be aware, some offer very good advice. Try different methods using a short test project to see what gives the best results for you. Look out for an e-book by Steve Mullen - not free, but some good tips there.
Hope this helps in some way. Quality issues can be frustrating!

  • Movie distortion when burned using iDVD 6

    Hello,
I am creating a movie with iMovie 6 and when I tried to preview a 'work in progress' version on my TV by burning a DVD using iDVD 6 there is a problem. What happens is whenever there is rapid movement of a subject, eg an arm movement, the subject (arm) becomes distorted and 'lined instead of it's normal solid, smooth shape. There is also a slight reduction in clarity in the picture in general. I have made movies before (albeit with earlier versions of iMovie and iDVD on OS X 10.3.9 iMac) and burned them to DVD without any problem.
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks
    Dan

I am also having problems with the image quality of the DVDs burned from iDVD. Are there no "experts" or moderators on these forums to respond to this issue
There are several experts here with knowledge about iDVD and creating DVDs, but we find it impossible to respond to general 'rants'. You will find MANY message threads here in which we have helped people who came here with specific problems.
Saying "I am also having problems with the image quality of the DVDs burned from iDVD" tells us NOTHING. What is the source of your video content? How long is the video content in minutes? What format (CODEC) is it in? ... the list can go on.
NTSC DVDs are low resolution devices (less than 640x480 pixels - that's 0.3 megapixels) and may be heavily mpg-2 compressed. They are designed for viewing on TV sets and not full screen on computer monitors.
Are there no "experts" or moderators on these forums to respond to this issue?
... and what did you expect us to say?

  • Gaps in audio when burning on dvds and cd

When I burn a dvd and add audio, I have gaps in the playback on the audio only.

    Hello BCRC,
What make / model computer are you using?
    What operating system?
What program are you using to burn the DVD's and CDs?
By gaps are you meaning that there is a gap from one track to the next and you are looking to burn gapless discs, or are you referring to the audio actually skipping parts of the audio when burning?

  • No audio when exporting from mpeg to flv

We have two PCs with Premiere Pro and AME installed, and just upgraded to CC. On one computer exporting works fine, on the other one, I'm losing the audio when exporting from mpeg to flv. I have used the same preset as on the other computer (that works) and also tried other presets that came with AME.
I can't figure out why this wouldn't work on one but works fine on the other? Anyone who knows?

How are you determining that the FLV has no audio?  Are you playing it back in VLC Player or importing it into Flash?
Also, do you see a full range of formats on the system where you don't hear audio?  If some formats are missing this might be  a licensing issue.  Also check if AME recognizes audio on the MPEG source (hover over it  in the queue and look for  audio info in the tool tip).

  • Audio disappears when burning in iDVD 6 from QT movie (from FCP)

Before burning, checked all the chapters and each plays with audio. When the disc burns it does encode the audio during the burning process but the only audio that is present when the burn if completed is the audio on the 1st menu. I only inserted video on menus two and three (using "Full Frame" menu) as I only want video; no audio on those two menus . I had to force quit twice and then ran Repair Permissions. Should have I trashed iDVD prefs and if so, is there only one to trash?
thanks for any help . . .this forum is invaluable.

I had to force quit twice and then ran Repair Permissions. Should have I trashed iDVD prefs and if so, is there only one to trash?
drag and drop all incidents of the iDVD plist to the trash. Use the finder or spotlight to locate all incidents of plist for iDVD. Looks like this:
    com.apple.iDVD.plist
secondly, you will need to repair permissions on the HD.
    applications > utilities > apple's DU
third, delete all encoded assets from the advanced menu.
forth, recommend using different media like Verbatim DVD-R Minus media and burn from a disc image using apple's DU or Toast at 4x or slower.
fifth .....be very patient while it encodes and burns. i've seen some dvd's take up to 2 days.
sixth ....make certain you have no less than 20GB of available HD space.
    Good luck!

  • Losing Audio in DVDs burned from iDVD 6.0.2

I'm trying to convert several Hi8 videotapes to DVD, and have successfully imported & edited footage in iMovie: audio tracks appear & play fine. When moved into iDVD, the audio works find in preview also. However, when I burn the DVD, I get either complete loss of audio or partial loss of audio (oddly, the first 2 clips retain audio, rest of audio is lost). I've tried burning as Disk Image, tried playback on several DVD players, all to no avail.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Apple please note: As a loyal Mac user since 1986, I have found iDVD to be the most frustrating and user-unfriendly piece of Apple software I have yet encountered. Various iDVD glitches have resulted in my wasting at least 20 DVD blanks so far, and the process is far from transparent.

    Slewis,
    Welcome to the iDVD forum.
Various iDVD glitches have resulted in my wasting at least 20 DVD blanks so far, and the process is far from transparent.
Stop burning DVDs until you get this worked out. Try Using "Save as Disk Image" instead. I know you said you've tried this, but keep trying until the images play fine on your mac before burning.

I know you have 6.0.2, but follow these steps anyway.
You should also check the audio to make sure it is 16 bit.

You might also want to go back to iMovie and use the "extract audio" command. This often helps.

  • IDVD cuts out audio when burned.

I've created about an hour and half movie in iMovie, added an audio narration track, and rendered it to Garage Band. I added chapters and shared it with iDVD. The layout is great, everything works well. When watching in iDVD, everything, including the audio plays. The disc I'm using has enough space to burn the whole thing, and I don't receive an error message. However, it cuts the last four minutes of audio out every time. The audio is in two different chapters. It hits a certain point in the second to last chapter and cuts it. I created a disc image and have the same problem. I'm on a deadline for work and need some help. Thanks.

    Don,
Slides in iDVD created slideshows are considered to be Chapters and many/most set top DVD players drop the audio on Chapter changes. (Many also pause or quit after every 99th image for the same reason).

  • A portion of audio that is synced in iMovie, is out of sync when burned with iDVD. How can I avoid this?

I'm trying to burn a simple movie, using iMovie and finishing in iDVD. A portion of the audio is out of sync when burned, despite it being in sync in iMovie. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Hi
Try to - Save as a DiskImage - then test this with Apple DVD-tool.
Does this play OK - burn this DiskImage by using Disk Util tool.
Set down burn speed to x2 or 4

  • Video clips lost its sound when burned from idvd6

HELP! I created a 55 min. imovie and when I burn it using idvd6 some of the clips loose their sound completely. The clips play in preview mode both in imovie and idvd. It's after its burned and played on my TV where the sound is gone on only some of the sclips. On others it's fine.
The clips came from VHS tape dumped on to a Hi 8 tape and then imported through a firewire into imovie. But again I stress some of these VHS clips play just fine. Any ideas? I need this for a High School Graduation party (which is going to be the main entertainment) for July 7. Thanx

I've also got same problem. Interestingly enough, background music added to DVDs title page plays OK on the burned CD (everything previews perfectly). However, go to 'play' the burned DVD, and while the video is there, the audio tracks are silent. Source material is an iMove project, and audio tracks are all AIFF files.
Also tried physically burning the DVD with Disk Utility. DVD burns OK, but on playback (both on home stereo DVD player, and on Mac), title slide and background music works fine, but after selecting to play the movie, the audio tracks are all gone... only silence This is with burning directly from iDVD, or by saving the project as an img file, and then burning it to DVD via Disk Utility.
    Any clues appreciated!

  • Foreign audio after burning in iDVD

I am running iMovie with Tiger on eMacs. I have 13 computers in a classroom. Sometimes when I burn in iDVD, the burn is successful, but there is only identical foreign audio over the whole disk. I have four uses set up on each eMac. the foreign audio if from totally different user than the one I am logged into. This plays on both the theme upon loading the disk, and on every movie. Movies play fine in iMovie and when testing in preview in iDVD. Usually I trash preferences and this clears it up. Now, two of my computers are not fixed with this method. I got one to work after trashing and repairing preferences, rebooting, then rebuilding the iDVD project with a totally new project. Any ideas?
