No audio when dvd disc is burned

I have a project that I edited in Premiere Pro CC, then media encoded it using Adobe Media Encoder. Drag and dropped the audio and video into Encore and burned a disc. Thing is there is no audio! I have tried playing the disc in several players and no audio. The video file in ppcc is green with black acoustic looking lines in it. In Encore it is not green and has no black acoustic looking lines. When I hit the play button in encore I see the video, but there is no audio.
Can someone advise as to what I am doing wrong?
Any help is appreciated.
Rchjr

Ok.............figured out what I did wrong. I saw a video tutorial of a guy that dragged and dropped his audio and video file on the " create a new item " icon. Then a time line appeared with both video and audio. When dragging and dropping those two files on that icon it did not work, I then clicked on the time line icon. But....in doing so only my wav file was highlighted and not the audio. I kinda figured what I was doing wrong was something simple.
What a dumb a$$:)
Thanks for the replies Stan,

  • No audio when DVD is played on PC

When I finish burning my DVD's in Encore 2.0 I always check them on my set top DVD player. They always function. However, when I play a DVD on my PC the video plays but there is no audio (yes my speakers are on). I have a client who complained for the same reason regarding the last DVD I sent to them for approval.
Any ideas why my computer won't play back the audio?
My work flow is an AVI from Premiere to Encore.

    Alanna.
Adrian's suggestion works because there is NO built-in Dolby Digital Decoder for Windows Media Player.
It used to be the case that if you had a Dolby Digital decoder installed in your system that other applications could also use it. WMP was always an exception to this rule, as DD technology is not free to use as you like - it is all licensed, as are the MPEG-2 decoders, which is why WMP will not play a DVD unless you have another soft player installed.
AC3 filter is a reverse-engineered decoder. Correct playback is not guaranteed. Still, this does not stop it working perfectly well in MOST cases.
    This is all changing now.
Dolby are upsetting a LOT of people by changing their licensing rules. Now a separate license is to be required for each application that decodes a DD stream.
Additionally, Fraunhofer have made a free to use MPEG-2 decoder available as well, so you are no longer tied to often dubious quality software players like PowerDVD and WinDVD.

  • No audio from movie on the burned DVD

This is the 5th DVD I've made with the "Chapters" Theme on IDVD 6. All 5 were created as movies from various clips in IMovie and shared with IDVD. The other 4 came out fine, but on this 5th one, everything works fine on the computer in IMovie and IDVD, but when I burn the DVD, there is no audio on the movie. There is audio on all 3 menus, but when I click on the button, no sound on the actual movie. I've read quite a few of the discussions regarding audio problems, but most seem to be regarding loss of audio on menus or slideshows. In a response regarding these menu problems, someone referred to a muted sound icon. I can't find any audio icons for the actual movie. I've been working on this for over a week. Would really appreciate some help. Thanks.

    Hi
    May be this applies ?
    *No audio on DVD disc.*
    Most common origin:
    1 Imported audio from iTunes:
    • In iTunes copy out as an audio-CD .aiff
    • Use this in Your movie project
2 Strange audio formats like .mp3, .avi etc.
    • Change them to .aiff. Use an audio editor like Audacity (free)
    Before burning the DVD:
    • Do a DiskImage (File menu and down)
    • Double click on the .img file
    • Test it with Apple DVD-player
    If OK:
    • Make Your DVD - or -
    • Burn from DiskImage with Apple Disk Util tool - and at an as slow speed as possibly eg x1
    • OR burn with Roxio Toast™ if You got it

  • What version of QuickTime to use with iDVD 4.0.1? (Audio on DVD is out of s

I purchased my eMac in 2004 and it came with iDVD 4.0 pre-installed. I upgraded it to iDVD 4.0.1, and everything worked fine with OS 10.3.4 and QuickTime 6.5.1. I burned 8 DVD projects with no trouble.
I recently upgraded the OS to 10.3.9 and QuickTime to 7.1.5. I just burned a DVD tonight, and the audio is out of sync. Also, one of the video files doesn't start at the beginning of the movie. It starts later.
Are these problems caused by using iDVD 4.0.1 with the newer QuickTime? Or with the newer OS? Should I go back to 10.3.9 and QT 6.5.1?
    Thanks

    Sue,
Thank you for your reply. I have followed the instructions and I am now running QuickTime 6.5.2, with OS 10.3.9 and iDVD 4.0.1.
Everything works normally except on movie files where I have a chapter marker near the beginning of the movie. On some movies I have chapter markers near the beginning, so that the viewer can select that part of the video when browsing around the disc. This causes trouble with iDVD though.
In the preview for iDVD, everything plays fine and the audio is synced fine. But, when the disc is burned, the audio is out of sync - only for those movies that had the chapter marker near the beginning. On the burned DVD, those movies play with the audio starting correctly, but the video starting at the next chapter (the second chapter marker I placed). I believe this is a bug in iDVD, since it plays perfectly in the iDVD preview, but incorrectly on the burned disc.
I have reinstalled iDVD and upgraded it to 4.0.1, and the problem is still there. It seems like my only solution would be to remove that first chapter marker.

  • Gaps in audio when burning on dvds and cd

When I burn a dvd and add audio, I have gaps in the playback on the audio only.

    Hello BCRC,
What make / model computer are you using?
    What operating system?
What program are you using to burn the DVD's and CDs?
By gaps are you meaning that there is a gap from one track to the next and you are looking to burn gapless discs, or are you referring to the audio actually skipping parts of the audio when burning?

  • Menu audio will play during preview but not when disc is burned.

    Encore CS6.
Menu music plays fine in preview. I know that the file is good. No menu audio after disc is burned. Have tried several different transcoding options. There is menu video too that is working fine.

Here are notes I couldn't find before I posted that; just general re testing methods:
Mounting an iso (or building to a folder) is a great way to test.  There are some differences, but it is a great method prior to burning to a disk.  The main difference is simply computer vs dvd player - autoactivate on a button doesn't work with a mouseover, and you can be fooled into thinking your navigation does, or does not, work.  (Even on the computer, don't use the mouse for testing, use the "remote" in the player controls.)
Encore preview is an emulator, like computer DVD players, that attempts to predict what will happen when a disk is played on a set top DVD player. It has always had issues with some predictions not being accurate. Some inaccuracies are like this one: Encore preview does not work, and a burned disk will. Others are the opposite; it works in Encore preview, and not in a DVD player. The point to be made here is that you cannot rely on Encore preview. You also cannot rely on computer playback of a built image or folder. And, in the end, you cannot rely on playback on one DVD player - some disks work on some players and not on others.

Go to the Map mode in your iDVD project and make sure the blue bin at the left is empty.  That's where you drag slideshows to if you want the DVD to open immediately to that slideshow and bypass the menu.
If there is an item in there drag it out.

Rather than burn directly to disk follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

You dvd has been written in sessions (three in this case).
You can copy all the data from the original DVD into one folder and burn the folder onto another DVD.
Do you want to make your life harder? Do the following: start Disk Utility (inside /Applications/Utilities) and click on the new image icon on top left. Pick a name for the image and specify the size (4.7 or 8.0 GB depending on the size of the original DVD as well as the rest of parameters from the drop down menus: encryption-none, format-read/write. Save the image and expand it (open it). Coppy all the required data inside it and burn it.

  • Following new motherboard and cd/dvd reconnection, when i try to burn a disc from itunes I now get the message "The Registry settings used by itune drivers for importing and burning CD's

Basically we had a new motherboard fitted, we then found our CD/DVD drive had not been reconnected.  After this has been done, when we try to burn a cd from itunes, we get the following message:-
The Registry settings used by itune drivers for importing and burning CD's and DVD's are missing.  Reinstall Itunes.
I've removed and reinstalled itunes a few times now and we still have the same issue.  HELP please.

  • How do I burn files: txt, audio and video onto a dvd disc?

I know this is way too basic, but everytime I've copied my files onto a blank dvd disc and then click on the burn icon, it gets half way through the burn and then dies and says there was an error and the disc can not be used again. I've tried doing this on 6 dvd discs now and the burn keeps failing! I'm not running any other application. As the discs are 4.7 gb dvd+r's and I am trying to burn 4 gb onto it, it should work...space wise. What am I doing wrong?? My files are too large to burn onto cd's. Thanks!

    Welcome to Discussions.
    There could be several reasons.
Your disks may be coaster class. Check out this page on disk brands and reliability

Also try using just DVD-R disk media.

  • Encore CS5 Hanging at Transcoding When Burning Transcoded Project to DVD Disc

    Hi
I'm a bit stuck and hope for some help.
I have a NTSC DVD project, 4.1 GB in size, which has previously built to DVD Disc, and I have just tweaked a couple of the menu buttons, tried to build to disk again, and the process hangs at "Transcoding..."
Now, this transcoding phase isn't even needed. All the assets have already been transcoded and the project tab shows that this is the case and they will not be transcoded.
I have saved a new project file, cleared out my cache and media cache, and even moved them to a different drive to make sure they were created again in empty folders.
I'm up against a deadline and my PAL project worked perfectly first time. So I'm at a loss at what to try next.
    Can you help?
    Many thanks

Reduce your burn speed to 1/2 the Rating of the Media.
    Disc Burner
If more than one supported disc burner is connected to your computer, choose one from the menu.
    Preferred Speed
When you burn a CD, iTunes automatically uses the best recording speed for the CD. However, if your blank CD is rated for a slower speed than the maximum speed of your drive, or if you experience problems creating CDs, you may want to change the recording speed to match the CD’s rating.
    Disc Format
Choose the type of disc you want to burn: Audio CD; MP3 CD; or Data CD or DVD.
    Gap Between Songs
Choose the amount of silence, if any, between songs.
    Use Sound Check
To have all songs on the disc play at the same volume, select this option.
    Include CD Text
To include information that CD players in some vehicles can display, select this option.
