No Audio when encoding an FLV

I'm attempting to slice up an hour long .flv into 15-minute chunks using Adobe Media Encoder CS5 (I don't have Premiere). I've cued up the start and end points, but when I export the video, there isn't any sound. I'm using the default settings, Audio is checked, at 256kbps, and there is no indication that it shouldn't export, but it doesn't. Any help please? I'm at my wit's end here, I've googled the hell out of this problem, and noone seems to want to help, they just want to pimp their third-party plugins and software...

Hi,
If you're using CS5 or CS5.5, you're getting the same problem we are if you're using Quicktime Reference files.

Seems to be a major bug with the Adobe QT32 service in a 64bit environment. Engineers are working on it, but no solution for now.

  • Audio stops halfway when encoding to .flv in AME

    Hi there,
    I have a .mov file that works perfectly when I play it in quicktime. But when I encode it to .flv (settings "same as source") and play it in Flash or Adobe AIR. The sound cuts out halfway. I tried changing bitraid settings and even changing the format to MP3 in the settings, but it doesn't help. The are no errors in the errorlog.
    I'm using Adobe Media Encoder CS4 on OSX 10.5.7 Intel Powermac 2x2.66Ghz
    Thank you!

    Glad to know someone else has experienced this bug. I had the audio cut out midway through a recording, and stay silent through a number of subsequent "takes". It came back the next day and I haven't had any trouble since. Still, I'd like to know how to avoid this problem, or if it's just a random bug.
    I first thought I might have inadvertently pressed some button muting the microphone, but there really doesn't seem to be any control over the sound in the video recording function.

  • When slideshow with sound saved as mvw file drops part of audio when encoded to NTSC 1080 i

    last part of audio is dropped when file encodes to 1080i blu ray.  Source files are OK when checked.  What gives and how do I prevent in the future.

    When you set up your HD/BD Project, you will have a set Frame Size, probably 1920 x 1080, or 1440 x 1080. Now, back to your still images. You will want to Scale them to very near that Frame Size. Unless you need to do Pans on a completely Zoomed out image, I would Scale to exactly the Frame Size in your Project.
    PrE will Scale for you, with either the fixed Effect>Motion>Scale, or Scale to Frame Size. Do NOT let it do so. The Scaling algorithms in an image editing program, like Photoshop will be much better, and you also have more control. This is a case, where bigger is NOT better. This ARTICLE will give you tips. Note: it was originally done when DVD was the standard, and SD material was used. The initial figures are for that material. You are doing HD/BD Projects, so just bump up the Frame Size to match your Project.
    I find that the Bicubic Smoother algorithm works best for most images. It is available, along with Bicubic Sharper, in Photoshop, and probably PSElements.
    Good luck, and hope that this improves the image quality,

  • Can you encode an flv in Compressor with letterbox bars?

    I am trying to encode a 1280x720 Quicktime movie to a 320x240 flv. I have compressed it 8 times already varying settings each time to get it to not squish the content to fit the 320x240 frame to no avail. Each separate setting squish the video. I believe "Padding" the top and bottom of the frame is the way to go, but the controls are deactivated when encoding an flv. I have read through he pdfs and have found no help. I even relaunched the software thinking it might be glitching up.
    Any thoughts?

    What version of Compressor are you using? You could transcode to an intermediate format first, i.e. ProRes or Photo JPEG @ 75% quality, and letterbox it that way, before encoding to FLV.
    From http://codecs.onerivermedia.com/ - 4:2:2 Compressed Codec Formats
    PhotoJPEG at its highest 100% quality setting is actually a 4:4:4 codec. When reduced down to 75%, it switches to 4:2:2 to help with the compression scheme. So why is it included here? The AJA Kona SD and Blackmagic Design DeckLink use this codec at 75% quality for its default offline compressed mode and with good reason. Virtually no banding in the gradients and average mosquito edging on the RGB colors. The compression artifacts are really only noticeable in the NTSC color bars and a little in the color filter test. And look at the x10 generation test... almost a pixel-perfect copy of the first generation! It actually passes through generations better than Kona's own 10-bit Trillions codec. Amazing! And look at that file size! Only 2.7 MB per second! That's better bandwidth (and way better quality) than DV can ever dream of. This codec truly can pass for an online codec with no problem. Best part is this codec is free to any QuickTime user, can be used on any platform and runs great even on PowerBooks.
    To automate the process, you can select your job and choose New Job With Target Output from the Job menu, and add your FLV setting there.

  • Trouble encoding audio when burning to dvd

    I have finished editing a nearly 2-hour long wedding video and all is going well, everything encodes fine until....it comes to my audio. I have now tried to burn this movie 7 times to dvd and EVERY time it freezes when it reaches the stage of encoding the audio. Any tips?

    Hello, trouble,
    Welcome to the discussions. Sorry you are having so much trouble burning your DVD. What exactly do you see when you think it is freezing? Does it just look as if nothing is happening? Do you actually get a message that says there is a problem with the burn?
    If you are using any version of iDVD prior to iDVD 8, I suspect that your audio is encoding fine and not really 'freezing'. It will LOOK as if everything has stopped, because the those versions did not include a 'time remaining' notice. You can see a small thumbnail of the menus encoding, and you can see the video of your movie as the video encodes, but when audio encoding is occurring, there is only a black square. Depending on your computer system, the process can take some time. I recommend that you just leave it alone, maybe overnight, and see if it is fine in the morning. On my older iMac, a nearly 2hr movie might take over 12 hours to finish encoding/burning.
    I do recommend that do a 'save as disk image' for every iDVD project.
    If you are not familiar with this process, it is the creation of a file that is an exact replica of your iDVD project. The encoding looks the same as it is occurring, but the end result is a disk image file, not a burned DVD disk. There are several reasons to do this: It can save you from wasting disks if there is something wrong that prevents a successful burn; you can view your disk image on your computer using the application DVD Player to view your project and see if it is ok; you can use the disk image for burning disks through Disk Utility (or Toast); and you can control the burn speed--should be 4x or less.
    And, you now have a self-contained image file that you can save and from which you can burn disks in the future. Because it is self-contained, you can safely delete your iMovie and iDVD projects, thus saving drive space. Even though you can burn another DVD using one that you already have burned, the disk image file is a better backup. DVD disks can crack, break, melt, etc. and if you lose your copy, you will not be able to burn another.

  • No audio when exporting from mpeg to flv

    We have two PCs with Premiere Pro and AME installed, and just upgraded to CC. On one computer exporting works fine, on the other one, I'm losing the audio when exporting from mpeg to flv. I have used the same preset as on the other computer (that works) and also tried other presets that came with AME.
    I can't figure out why this wouldn't work on one but works fine on the other? Anyone who knows?

    How are you determining that the FLV has no audio?  Are you playing it back in VLC Player or importing it into Flash?
    Also, do you see a full range of formats on the system where you don't hear audio?  If some formats are missing this might be  a licensing issue.  Also check if AME recognizes audio on the MPEG source (hover over it  in the queue and look for  audio info in the tool tip).

  • [Q] Can I insert the cue point when recording an FLV via FMS2???

    Hi... :)
    I think this can be a simple yes/no question...
    Does anybody know if I can insert the cue point when
    recording an FLV via FMS2 via AS???
    Thanks... :)
    CyanBlue

    According with fms2 documentation, you can define cue points
    in an FLV file when you first encode the file, or when you import a
    video clip in the Flash authoring tool by using the Video Import
    wizard.
    The FMS2 only handles with cue points.... using the
    NetStream.onCuePoint event handler.

  • No Audio When Converting Videos For iPod

    whenever i convert video files for my ipod they do not have audio. i have tried several programs, and none work. i have read other discussions about this, and found that MPEG Streamclip worked for other people, however whenever i try to convert using this program, it says "Error: Can't Prepare The Movie" Can anyone tell my why i can't convert these videos? i cannot figure it out. thanks alot.

    I am not sure what you mean when you ask what the "compression formats" are.The compression formet refers the manner in which the media was encoded and, by extension, how the media must be decoded. I.e., it determines which codec (encoder/decoder or compressor/decompressor) is to be used with the media file.
    If you can tell me where to find those i could tell you what they are. I can, however, play the video in itunes, quicktime, and MPEG Streamclip.Simnce the files are playable in QT, the most common place to look for codec information is in the "Show Movie Info" window following the "Format:" entry. E.g., it might say:
    Format: MPEG2 muxed, 640 x 480orFormat: Apple MPEG4 Decompressor, 320 x 240, millions
    AAC, Stereo, 48,000 kHz
    i also am not sure if there is audio in the source file.Do you hear any audio when the original file is played? If not and there is no audio track (or "muxed") information, then there may not be any sound for you to convert in the first place.
    how do i find out if it is muxed?If it is "muxed," the format entry we say so. In this case blocks of audio data and blockes of video data are interspersed in a single data stream (track). This is the normal way MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 audio/video data is synchronized. In addition, these formats commonly lose their audio content when converted using QT Pro, iTunes, iMovie, FCE, FCP, or other QT based "frame-to-frame" synchronized workflow. (In the case of MPEG-2 in MPEG Streamclip or QT, the QT MPEG-2 component must also be installed in order to convert the video data alone.)
    most of my videos that won't convert for an ipod are downloaded from the internet. how can i find out if they are corrupted or incomplete?Internet files should always be considered suspect -- especially if they come from a peer-to-peer source. Messages that indicated QT cannot open an otherwise fully compatible QT format is often the best indication that there is a corruption problem or that the files were improperly closed at one point or another.
    most of my videos that won't convert for an ipod are downloaded from the internet. how can i find out if they are corrupted or incomplete?Normally ypu would post them to a web site or FTP storage area and post the URL. If files were downloadedd from a particular web site (e.g., a QT movie trailer), simply post the URL for the particular web page.

  • Why onMetaData handler doesn't be called when playing some .flv?

    Hello, Everyone,
    I am encountering a problem:
    I am using NetStream to play some .flv files on local disc. My code skeleton is:
    public class AdvertisPanel extends MovieClip
              private var _video:Video;
              private var _connection:NetConnection;
              private var _stream:NetStream;
              private var _clientObject:Object;
              public function AdvertisPanel($playlist:Array, $delay:int)
                        ....(code omitted)
              public function build():void
                        this._video = new Video();
                        this._connection = new NetConnection();
                        this._connection.connect(null);
                        this._stream = new NetStream(this._connection);
                        this._video.attachNetStream(this._stream);
                        this._clientObject = new Object();
                        this._clientObject.onMetaData = this.metaDataListener;
                        this._clientObject.onXMPData = this.XMPDataListener;
                        this._stream.client = this._clientObject;
                        this._stream.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, this.netStreamStatusHandler);
                        this._stream.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, this.netStreamIOErrorsHandler);
                        this._stream.addEventListener(AsyncErrorEvent.ASYNC_ERROR, this.netStreamAsynErrorsHandler);
                        this.addChild(this._video);
                        this._stream.play(this._medias[this._currentPlayingIndex].mediafile); // this is the url of the video
              private function metaDataListener($metaData:Object):void
                        ....(code omitted)
                        trace(metaData.duration, $metaData.width, $metaData.height);
              private function XMPDataListener($xmpData:Object):void
                        ....(code omitted)
                        trace($xmpData);
              ....(code omitted)
    I used some .flv files that I download from YouTube to test; and I found that the handler metaDataListener would not be called when playing some .flv files, but some would. Is the problem caused by the video file? Because I may resize the video before play it on the screen, and I really need to know its original width & height.
    Would some ont help with that? Thanks a lot in advance.

    Thanks, Donny.
    But I failed to open the .flv file with Adobe Media Encoder, it said that the format was not suported.
    And the .flv is downloaded from YouTube.

  • Encoding a FLV file to MP4

    I am relatively new to Adobe and all of its products, and this is my first exposure to Media Encoder CS5.
    Quite simply I would like to encode a FLV file to MP4. When I drag the FLV file into AME, it tells me "The source compression type is not supported."
    Just curious how to resolve this or whether I am doing something incorrect. I use a Mac Laptop running OS X 5.
    Thanks

    Colin is right. There's a bit more information about what what kind of FLV files AME CS5 can import here. The main point is that AME CS5 and later can only import FLV files that conatin video encoded with the On2 VP6 codec.

  • Problems with ac3-audio not encoded in apple's compressor

    Hi everyone,
    I'm working with DVD Studio Pro 4.0 and when encoding audio with the compressor into ac3, there were hardly any problems.
    Now I have to get along with external ac3-files, not encoded with compressor. Settings, format etc. are identical to the compressor-created files; despite of these similar settings, I now expericene a very low sound (about 3x lower), not comparable to the volume of the compressor encoded files.
    Has anyone an idea on this subject?
    Thanks.

  • Chapter Markers for Audio Only encode to CD

    I have an audio only sequence in Final Cut with chapter markers. I did Export>Using Compressor & when I look at the sequence in Compressor I can see the purple chapter markers in the Preview window. I've tried many different settings: MPEG-4 (disabled video in the inspector), AAC, AIFF. Every time I open these files in Quicktime, I lose the chapter markers.
    I do have a .mov file that I exported from FCP to Quicktime & that shows the chapter markers, but once I try to export from Quicktime, the same thing happens... I keep losing the chapter markers.
    What settings should I be using to keep the chapter markers with my audio sequence & encode this audio for CD?

    Yes, thank you... I didn't realize markers don't work for audio.
    I found a workaround on the FCP forum. Here it is for anyone watching:

  • Iphone 5S IOS8 - quality of  audio when taking video?

    The biggest disappointment with the 5S was the TERRIBLY distorted audio when taking videos of live music or loud events.  The 4S didn't feature the front mic and therefor sound was passing by perpendicular to the mic and it would not be as "hot" of a signal.
    I have not one but two external mice I use when I plan*** on taking video but living in a city with tons of music I am not always prepared with an external mic.  Taking video with IOS7 with the 5S is useless if the audio source is above 85db or so.
    Can anyone who has upgraded IOS on the 5S confirm that they have corrected the software for the mic sensitivity for a 5S?  My buddy has the 6 and his live videos of music do NOT distort.
    Thanks!

    Does the issue of recording videos still not get any sounds? If so, take a look at the article below to troubleshoot the issue further. Now it may be hard to give the exact reason why that happened, but the article should assist with getting it fixed.

    You can connect the audio from your iMac to your TV using a mini jack (like headphones plug) to rca (regular red and white audio connectors used on every TV,DVD, etc) cable.
    On your TV, you need to be able to set the audio for the HDMI input you will use to "analog" and connect the rca end of the cable to the analog inputs on your TV.
