No audio when I leave Logic 8 for an hour or so

Can anyone help? I'm running Logic 8 on an Intel Mac Pro dual 2.66 with 5 gig of RAM. If I leave Logic 8 open on the computer, I'm finding the audio goes out !!!. The midi is fine and the system preferences sound setting is correct (I'm connected via firewire to a MOTU Ultralite). It may be a Mac system problem because itunes doesn't work either. My solution has been to re-boot.

Ditto on what JH said... change your energy saver prefs as a first step. Unless your electricity bills are extraordinarily high, your computer should never be set to spin down HD's or sleep on its own. This is a good thing to do when you're running a laptop on battery, but not for a computer that's plugged into the wall. Having the computer self-sleep/spin down HD's is usually more hassle than it's worth.

So, my first rental - I downloaded it overnight - then we go to watch it tonight and it proceeds to start loading again...saying it will be ready in 14 hours and 21 minutes!!! Am I doing something wrong here? If anyone has advice - I would greatly appreciate it. This is the first apple product that I am disappointed with

Exception Thrown When a Scheduled Task Runs for Many Hours

In the Oracle documentation here (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10391_01/doc.910/e10367/toc.htm#CACGBDAD) it states that the below exception can get thrown when a scheduled task runs for many hours (on OAS) and can be ignored:
Primary Server went down going to get a fresh object elsewhere in the cluster.
com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIConnectionException: LRU connection
Just want to find out from other users that get this error (If there is any), have you found the scheduled task actually completes, then the error is thrown or what?
I just don't feel comfortable that one of our tasks is completing properly due to this exception occuring and causing the task to stop midway through processing...

I've had trouble with scheduling PowerShell scripts in the past as well. You can try running your script in the SYSTEM context by launching a cmd prompt this way, just to verify that the issue isn't related to the account itself:

WHen batteries drain they generate heat, as does your screen and processor.
Warm is normal. if it ever gets too hot to handle - literally - then stop using it and book an appiontment at your local apple store. But really, generating heat is no different from your computer getting warm as it's used.

Firefox crashes when I leave the computer for any length of time

Any time I am away from the computer for more than an hour, my Firefox installation has crashed on my return, I have managed to copy/paste the details below. I note that whwen I restart the program, it always seems to load the Adobe installation page say ing my installations are up to date. I have tried reinstalling anyway but I still get the same message. All my plugins are up to date ass well. I have tried the route outlined below, to access past crashes but it does not work. (about:crashes)

I tried that, it appears to bring up three crash reports despite my having far more events than that, and I cannot highlight them to copy/paste them anywhere, also they contain characters that I cannot find on my keyboard, so cannot type them out longhand. Logic idle for some time requires to relaunch Core Audio..

Hey there,
If I leave Logic loaded for the night, in the morning, I have to relaunch Core Audio to get any sound.
This has happened on all version of Logic 7.
Is there a workaround? (Besides closing Logic the night before...)

actually, you should leave your mac on overnight quite regularly, as OSX automatically runs a self maintenance schedule at 3am which keeps it optimised. you can use an app like inyx to reschedule this or to force it to run the maintenance sequence whenever you want it to.
as for power use and environmental concerns - I think it's everyone's responsibility to make calls in their daily life as to how to reduce their personal overuse of resources. if this does not include turning off your work computer overnight because you prefer to have it ready to go whenever you need to use it, then that totally reasonable. you can make up for it in other ways and still be making far more of an effort than most people do.
btw, in answer to the actual original question - it is prob related to the audio hardware you have. a lot of PCI cards just don't play well when a machine is idle for a long time, and/or do not support sleep mode at all. look into what the manufacturer says on it. also, check your energy saver settings and make sure nothing is set to go to sleep, hard drives do not idle whenever possible etc.

You would have to really survey the area to see where the access points can be placed and then what power should they be. The issue you will face is that the 5ghz attenuate's faster than the 2.4ghz so this might be tricky. Your coverage toward the exterior walls will be poor for your users and that's not a good thing. All you really can do is buy window film that blocks rf and or paint that blocks rf. This will also affect your cellular, etc.

Computer "freezes" when left on for several hours.

I have had my MacBook Pro since late February. It seems to "freeze" when I leave it on for prolonged periods of time (several hours) without using it. By "freeze" I mean when the display wakes up, the trackpad will allow me to move around the screen, but not click on anything. Occasionally, I will get the colored spinning wheel when I click on one thing, but it never allows me to access any program or even to shut down the computer normally with the trackpad. I am forced to use the power button for a forced shutdown. It then restarts normally.
The computer has not been asleep, and has been attached to the power outlet the entire time. This is also not a kernel panic. (I have witnessed those with my previous computer.)
Prior to this, I owned a 12in Powerbook for nearly 5 years. It never grew unresponsive like this. Is this a common problem with the MacBook Pros, or is there something wrong with my unit?
Please let me know if you would like more information about my computer.

mavenue, you should really post this as a separate topic as the probability is that your problem is not the same.
(A) after such a forced restart have you done anything to check system integrity?
(B) are you saying that Safari is set to open at startup/login?
(C) which version of Safari are you using?
(D) is Safari set to open on a blank page or access a website?
(E) is the computer attached to a network at the time or not?
(F) have you examined the logs in Console (if not, have a look and post them in discussions.
Have a look at those points and start another thread with some of the information suggested above (including the log).

My mac will not reboot after hibernating for one hour. Is there something I am missing?

Your Boot Drive may be dying.
Do not wrestle with it now. Instead, take a new drive and Install Mac OS X on it from scratch. If you do not have an available drive, buy one -- they are well under US$100. There is no need to shuffle drives around, your Mac will boot from whatever drive is specified in System Preferences > Startup Drive.
Once you have a working version of Mac OS X, the full Mac OS X can be applied to resolving those other problems. Solving problems with just the Installer and its Utilities is very difficult.

I Don't Want "Creating Overview" For audio when Opening A Project

when opening a project , is there a way to turn creating overview off? i have it turned off when recording already. i don't want to have to wait when booting up project , to wait for audio overview that i don't need

OK, here's what I'd suggest...
1. Find the Apple Loops folder on your system. On my system it's in:
HD > Library > Audio > Apple Loops
There's another in:
HD > Library > Audio > Apple Loops > Apple > Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro
2. CMD-I on these folders and see who the 'owner' is. If the name listed is not the name of your home folder, then unlock the lock and change the owner to the name-of-your-home-folder.
3. Click the disclosure triangle by "Details:" and then, after you've changed the owner, click "Apple to enclosed items"
From that point on you should not be getting the error message.
HOWEVER... I've found that sometimes the waveform overview for certain "FX" (as listed in the Apple Loops browser within Logic) will not be rendered. That's a topic for another day though...

I created new infotype and when employee leaves its end date is changed for leaving date.
When leaving action is deleted ther is some least of infotypes that user can sign so the end date of selected infotypes will be changed to 31.12.9999. How can i add my infotipe to this list?

Maintain IT 0041 where in that table maintain employee start date of hiring and leaving date of employee bze in IT 0000 the dates will change as per action lets say if employee hire that date will be in IT 0000 action and if employee gets promotion date or leaving date that will store in IT 0000 by delimiting other actions
So maintain IT 0041 where you can pull dates from there if you maintain
End date will always be 31.12.9999 so check action start date you will get in sequence
