No audio when I print to video

Video is fine, in AV settings I have Firewire audio selected. Audio sounds fine from timeline but when I print to video i get nothing not even a tone with bars at beginning of print down. I've tried different cameras so I'm thinking it is a setting in FCP that I don't have right... Any suggestions? could something like this be the cable I'm using or a weird Firewire problem like not enough power because too many devices are plugged in? I know that the "official" word is (with puffed out chest) Firewire can handle up to blah blah blah devices, But my experience with Firewire is that it is finicky. So, just wondering if it could be something like that. Off to do some experimenting...
Ive tried unplugging all other firewire devices and works fine on my powerbook with what seems to be the same settings...?

It appears from what I found online that there are some A/V settings you should check before exporting your video.

After I have printed to video there is no audio attached to my edited sequences, even though during playback in the timeline there is obviously audio. When I print to video how do I make sure the audio goes along with it?

Monitor audio from the deck you are outputting to. Make SURE audio is being sent to the deck...if via firewire, make sure in the Audio/Video settings you have audio out set to firewire.

ITunes 7.6 No Audio When Playing a Music Video or Movie

I just installed iTunes 7.6.0.29 (It was released today).
There is no audio when playing a music video or a movie that I've purchased. Movie trailers and music videos in the iTunes store have no audio either. Videos from iTunes University that I've downloaded (such as an MIT lecture) play fine w/ audio.
Music audio (such as tracks I've purchased or tracks on the iTunes store) play fine.
QuickTime videos, such as a QT video on my desktop play fine. Windows Media Player works fine too.
So, why don't music videos and movies play (w/audio) on iTunes 7.6??

I'm experiencing what appears to be the exact same issue. I just installed iTunes 7.6.
Video but no audio:
Purchased iTunes TV episodes
Streamed video trailers in the iTunes Store
Works fine:
All music files, including protected files purchased through iTunes
The standalone Quicktime player performs normally with MOV files. Windows Media Player still performs normally.
I found an old support doc complaining of a similar issue with a previous iTunes release and tried the suggested fix: Uninstalling Quicktime and reinstalling it using the standalone installer (Quicktime 7.4). I also reinstalled iTunes. Neither solved the issue.
I'm very disappointed that I can no longer access the files I've purchased. I hope this is fixed very soon.

When I "print to video" FCP works well but suddenly freezes... why?¿

Hi everybody! I'm desperate right now, hope somebody could help me. I'm working on FCP 4.5 and when I'm done with my project I try to "Print to Video" and/or do it manually and all seems ok but suddenly FCP freezes (with audio still running) and I gotta start all over again... This never happened to me before. I'm doin' this with my iMac G5 (with AGP Video Card) and I can edit, add effects, transitions and even add photoshop images fine but when I want to "print my project" on mini DV I just can't do it "continously" ... any ideas? Is this a firewire drive? USB is no good for video.
If the external is a frewire drive, all your media should be on that drive while you edit. the final output should also remain on that drive.
Once you are finished editing and ready to record, export the file under Use Current Settings, Self-contained.
Then bring that into a fresh sequence and play it to tape for recording.

Why am I not getting the audio when I send a video from Premier Pro to encor to make a DVD?

I created a video with only one audio track. It plays perfectly in Premier Pro
Then I send it to encor to make a DVD. When I play the video in the monitor in encor, there is not sound, audio track
What am I doing wrong. I have done this successfully many times before

To further add to the equation if I go to System Preferences and switch my output from my MOTU Firewire to the internal speakers of my Mac Pro I can hear the clip I just dragged and couldn't hear before in the Timeline AND when I then switch back to the MOTU I can now hear that same clip I just dragged in the Timeline. But if I drag a new clip from Events to Timeline then I cannot hear it again until I go through this same song and dance.
Help?
Weird... It appears that there is a problem with the audio not being routed to the right output.
I don't have a MOTU interface, but could it be that there is an updated driver for it?
Also, I'd try to let OnyX run its cleaning and maintenance routines.
If all else fails, at least you can shorten the workaround: you don't need to go to system preferences to change the output for sound. Just option-click on the volume icon in the menu bar and select the desired choice.

Clean the dock connector and headphone jack. Lint or debris in either of this could cause this issue.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these steps in order until the issue is resolved.

Unless I'm missing something here. I don't think QuickTime is going to be of much help with that website. Even if you saved a file from the website to the hard drive, it would not be easy to get QT to play it

No Audio when playing newly converted video files to MPEG-4

I have recently converted several movie files using the "convert Selection for iPod". This has resulted in all my files being converted to MPEG-4 format. But when I try and listen to them within itunes, I get video but no audio.... can someone help please?! btw, I can listen to audio files in itunes fine(MP3's), just not the movie files.

Audio when playing a youtube video is heard seconds later

Everytime I play a video in youtube, the audio of it is heard seconds later which makes it very annoying. It works good on Google Chrome but not on Firefox.

Try to clear the Flash local storage and settings for YouTube.

Weird audio issue when printing to video

I am attempting to dub a couple of old projects to tape using the Print to Video command (firewire connection to Panasonic DVX-100A MiniDV camera). I have used this method many times in the past with success. However, I have now tried two different projects tonight and had the same strange issue: The project plays back perfectly normally in the timeline, through the computer speakers, but when I Print to Video, there will be one part where a small audio "blip" can be heard. It sounds like either a snippet of tone or the sound of un-rendered audio... except it's all rendered.
Anybody have any suggestions? It's really weird that it plays back something different in Print to Video than it does in regular playback... Any help is appreciated.

Video playback on external monitor working. Only works when Print to Video

I'm having a problem. I'm using FCP 5. When editing, my video playback is not showing up on my external monitor (Sharp MiniDV camcorder). It does however show up on the external monitor when I "Print to Video." This is the first time using FCP 5. I never had this problem with previous versions of FCP. Can anyone tell me whats going on? Thanks

A simple path is mac > firewire > camera or deck > rca cables > tv
Then start up your camera and tv, then open fcp.
Then go View > External video > all frames
Video playback should be Apple firewire NTSC (If you are using an NTSC set)
Audio playback should be Audio follows Video
Techinially, this should send synched video to your TV
If for some reason you can't view your timeline on your external monitor, there are a few things to try:
1) Make sure that the camera/deck is connected and powered on BEFORE you open FCP.
2) In the Final Cut Pro menu select AUDIO/VIDEO Preferences and make sure your signal is being sent out thru Firewire DV.
3) Go to the menu and select VIEW>EXTERNAL>ALL FRAMES.
4) Click in the % box above the image and select FIT TO WINDOW.
5) Go to VIEW->refresh A/V devices
6) Make sure the Log & Capture window is closed
If you want it to play in both the canvas and the external monitor you need to go to the FINAL CUT PRO menu and select AUDIO/VIDIO settings and make sure MIRROR ON DESKTOP is selected under the PLAYBACK OUTPUT section

I had the exact same issue on my Home computer with XP Home sp2--No audio in itunes
However, my work computer with XP Pro sp2 works fine with the updates.
I ended up taking the advice of some others on here and reinstalled the old version of Quick Time (7.3.1) which worked...Although I'm unable to see movie trailers with the old version...But all other videos, including the one movie that I purchased, I'm able to hear...

Viewing output when printing to video

I have just switched to editing HD, when I print to video i see a very small version of the output in the center of the screen, everything works but i wonder if i can get the output to show full screen on my display as it outputs?

thanks, i have a 30 inch apple display, i assume it's hd compliant? i see the picture it's just that it's small and in the center of a black box which is itself in the center of my very large screen! the actual picture is about 4 inches long and 2 1/2 inches tall.
