No audio when importing .mpg

I've seen similar questions posted, but i just can't find the answer. I already captured all of my video off of an old analog camera that only had composite plugs. The audio works when I open the files in QuickTime, but not when I import into FCP 5

Because I was using an old camera (without firewire) I had to capture with my PC using DVD Director Pro. That works great, thanks<<</div>
You have no DV device for working with FCP? No camcorder, deck or converter? If you do, connect the analog outs of the old playback device to the analog inputs of your DV device, then connect a Firewire cable from the DV device to your Mac. Set FCP's capture control to "Non-Controllable Device" and hit Capture Now. This method works fine for everyone I know for capturing virtually any analog format (VHS, 8mm/Hi8, BetaMax, 3/4", etc). You'll have much better quality than going to MPEG first, and if you have a TBC lying around to run the analog signal through, you can get some rock-stable footage.

  • How do I get audio back on single clip that loses audio when imported into Premiere Pro CC?

I've got one clip out of many that for some reason won't play any audio when imported into Premiere Pro.  I am new to Premiere Pro so am hoping it's something stupid I've done, but this is a problem with just a single clip exported the same way as all my others, the original audio is loud (not quiet) and none of the FAQ issues seem to apply (ie I haven't muted the audio or anything stupid like that)
The clip was exported from Plural Eyes into a "master" Premiere Pro project where the audio is fine. I exported it as a short MP4 clip and if I play the clip in Windows Media Player the audio is there loud and clear.
But when I import the clip into a fresh Preimiere Pro CC project this clip appears with just the "film strip" icon on the far left in the Timeline panel, unlike other clips which have an icon that shows "film strip" in the background and "audio wave" in the foreground.
I'm hitting so many glitches with the CC editions of Premiere Pro and After Effects which have annoying inconsistencies between them I'm tempted to just go back to Sony Vegas Pro (single program, no hassle) but hoping most of these issues are down to "newbie incompetence". Very hard to understand why this one clip out of many should be giving me this specific problem though. Any ideas?

I'm getting so many weird results. Most go away by simply closing the project and re-opening and I only have 6GB memory but even so, I'm disappointed by what I thought was supposed to be more "world class" video editing software than Sony Vegas Pro which I found to be a lot more stable. Also struggling with differences between Premiere and After Effects. Every time I want to do something in Pro I seem to need to go to After Effects and vice-versa. After Effects lets me do more of what I could "just do" in Vegas Pro timeline, but it's hideous for lining up audio and having to render anything in RAM to even get a clue as to what a change has done.  Need to add Audition to the long list as well I suspect. Fun times!

  • Premiere Pro 5.5 crashes when importing mpg file

Premiere Pro 5.5 crashes when importing mpg file.
I can get the file to import if I first right click the file and tell it to "open in source monitor" then tell it to import.
When I do this it indexes the file. After it is done indexing is when I can then import the file.
Should I not just be able to tell it to import and it does the indexing?
These files that I am tryig to open were with Premiere Pro 4.

    Welcome to the forum.
What are the specs. of this MPEG file? Might be something in those, that is causing an issue.
    Good luck,

  • No audio when importing AVCHD into FCP X?  Simple solution.

After hours of trial and error and several phone calls to support, I figured out why my AVCHD footage (MTS files from a Canon vixia HF S100)  had no audio when importing into FCPX.  The solution was to simply uncheck the box - "Remove silent channels" - under Audio in the pop-up import window .  That did the trick.
I had tried  importing from a card reader, the camera and from an external hard drive and then tried 2 converter programs (MPEG streamclick and   Wondershare Video Conerter Ultimate.)
    Final Cut Pro X
    OS X 10.8.2

It's usually something simple that can catch the best of us.

  • No audio when importing footage under capture

When I'm importing footage from my camcorder into FCE there is audio in the caputure window & no levels on my audio meters. The camcorder I'm using is a ZR500 Mini DV using to import.
These are the steps I have done: File -> Easy Setup then Format: -> (all formats)
after that Use: DV-NTSC Firewire Basic.
Then I went to File Capture. Any advice? I'm getting no audio when importing on
    FCE 4?

    Welcome aboard idw3,
Then I went to File Capture. Any advice? I'm getting no audio when importing on
    FCE 4?
That's normal for FCE. All versions have been the same. If you need to hear the audio use the cameras headphone socket if it has one.
All audio can be adjusted in the Timeline during editing as required.

  • No sound when importing mpg file

I have used several camcorders as sources for video clips. All of the clips can be imported to my Premiere Pro CS4. The problem I am having is that the mpg files from one of the cameras, when importing the clip, the video comes through fine, but the sound does not come through at all.

Is the problem MPEG file using MPEG audio or Dolby audio format?
    Cheers

  • Gaps in audio when importing clips?

When I try to import clips from my camcorder to imovie, quite often it happens there are little gaps with no sound (easy to hear, and visible in audio wave as gaps as well).
When I connect the camcorder to the TV set, then the sound is fine, thus assume it cannot be a mistake in recording.
I've also exchanged the firewire cord, still the problem continues...
Would be extremely grateful for any help...

    Hello BCRC,
What make / model computer are you using?
    What operating system?
What program are you using to burn the DVD's and CDs?
By gaps are you meaning that there is a gap from one track to the next and you are looking to burn gapless discs, or are you referring to the audio actually skipping parts of the audio when burning?

  • CS4 - no audio when importing an avi or mpeg

Hello I am trying to figure out why there is no audio when I import an avi created with Fraps. The audio is in the avi made from Fraps but when I import it to premiere pro CS4 - there is no audio during playback. I checked all the audio hardware settings, I dont know what else to do.

While not particularly FRAPS, this ARTICLE will give you some pointers on other video-capture programs.
As John points out, there are several FRAPS threads to draw from too.
    Good luck,

  • No Audio when Importing?

Can anyone let me know if there's a way of getting the audio to work when importing... it always used to work before in previous versions of iMovie... is there some setting I am doing wrong... whether it's on Manual or Automatic... the footage imports silent.
    Any comments most welcome.

  • No Audio When Importing MOV into LifeType

    Hi
I'm new to FCE and I was importing a mov file into life type. However, there was no audio when I tried playing the file. I am able to see the visual and the live fonts effects but somehow the audio is missing.
Did I miss something ? Is this the right approach for creating a movie with LiveType effects ?
    Jojos
P.S: The mov itself has audio when played via Quicktime.

if I may ask for the steps I would be doing the following ?
    1. Create the titling effect in LiveType
    2. Export it to a quicktime movie
    3. Open FCE4 and superimpose it into my main movie clip
    4. Generate it as movie
In step 2, do I render a movie or generate it as a quicktime movie? May I know what's the difference and which offers a better quality ?
    Appreciate your reply.

  • No Audio when imported and played on the timeline

I imported with a panasonic DVM100B using a canopus ADVC-100 and RCA cables I have ordered a 9pin to 4pin firewire.. The capture files plays video and audio from Quick Time and will play when put in iMovie. The audio will not play when imported into Final Cut Studio HD upgrade and placed on the timeline. The Audio track shows peaks when open and the audio meter shows movement when playing the track.
    Any suggestions

Thanks for the info. I went back to the audio and video settings and the audio output and playback is now on default. It is working except I had to render all imported files.

  • .mpg files lose audio when imported to FCP

Has anyone lost only the audio tracks of a clip with an .mpg extention after importing to FCP? The audio plays in Quicktime, but FCP will not recognize it, nor will Soundtrack Pro. I'm at a loss here.

mpg files are muxed (mixed audio and video). FCP wants separate threads for audio and video.
Convert the files using Mpeg Streamclip (google it, it's free) to convert the files to an editable format - say DV-NTSC quicktime.

  • No sound when importing mpg

I've imported an mpg file into Final Cut Express and it plays but there is no audio. Same thing in iMovie. I have flip 4 mac and it plays fine in quicktime, but when I import it to Final Cut Express or IMovie there is no sound. What do I need to do to get sound?

Mpeg2 movies must have their audio demuxed first.
The way I prefer is to use MPEG Streamclip (free) to convert the mpeg2 file to a .mov file before importing to FCE. You also need the Quicktime MPEG Playback component (20$) by Apple to let Streamclip to read the mpeg2 files. It's important you export from MPEG Streamclip (Export to Quicktime, NOT Export to DV!) using the standard parameters for FCE: video DV-PAL or NTSC (fps 25 or 29,97 fps), audio stereo uncompressed, 16-bit, 48 kHz.

  • .mts files out of sync audio when importing in Premiere Pro CC

When I import .mts files from my nxcam in Premiere Pro CC, the audio of the clips in not in sync. Can anybody help me with this issue? Thank you!

    Hi,
Please try renaming one of the footages from .mts to .m2ts and then import in Premiere. See if that helps.

  • Audio when importing AVI in Premiere Pro 2.0

    Hi everyone,
I'm a bit of a n00b at Premiere 2.0, but I'm slowly learning. When I import an AVI recorded with Bandicam, and try to play it, the video is fine, but the audio comes out as a constant high-pitched whistle, low rumbles, and other odd and garbled sounds, with no hint of the original audio. Can anyone help me with this? Using a clean install of Premiere Pro 2.0 with Windows 8.1.
