No Audio When Listening To Streams From Websites

Hi, I'm having problems getting audio only when watching videos streamed from different websites. For instance, on the apple website, when I watch the'WWDC 2006' keynote video I am not getting any audio. I've tried playing other videos I have on my computer and the audio is fine. In addition, playing audio files on my computer is fine. Does anyone have any suggestions?

hi BnB, try the following...
1. reboot. then try again.
2. open up Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup.
is the Audio Output setting higher than 44100.0 Hz?
if so, make it that and then quit this app. then try again.
3. (black magic voodoo solution that does sometimes work).
start GarageBand then quit it... then try again...
post back if none of these helped... cheers

Audio clipping/buzzing while streaming from a share (Windows 7)

Has anyone else noticed clipping audio when listening to music from an itunes share? By "clipping", I mean a lag in the normal audio stream that sounds sort of like a buzz. If I set the iTunes process to a higher priority, the clipping is minimized, but still occurs every now and then. I've also set the streaming buffer to "Large", but it doesn't seem to me to be related to network buffering (The playing machine is connected directly to the sharing machine through ethernet). From the sounds I'm hearing, it seems more like the typical audio clipping that you'd hear when a player can't keep the sound system audio buffer full.
Any ideas?

Unable to hear sound when playing Music Sampler from website

Hi
I am unable to hear any sound when trying to listen to music samples on Amazon (for example) and also other websites. I have enabled Firewall to all the internet player, which does launch and start playing but there is no sound.
The volume is definately up on the speakers and I have tested Windows Media Player and it plays radio and other music on my pc perfectly well. So I am unsure as to why I cannot hear the music samples from websites now (I have done in the past).

Did you check if the Wave volume control in the Sound and audio devices was set to higher level???
This control is responsible for the sound volume of any music files.

What are you trying to stream? Some websites have not enabled the video part of airplay... BBC iplayer for example.

Can only get audio when trying to AirPlay from Dish app

Since updating to IOS 6 I only get audio when air playing from my Dish Network app on my iPad. I can get audio and video when mirroring; however the quality is horrible and it doesn't fill my screen. I was able to get audio and video both before updating my iPad and Apple TV. The recent updates have been a disaster!!
Apple TV and AirPlay were great products before. I thought updates are supposed to make Apple products better....not worse. Please help if there is a solution

Usually these types of limitations are added by the app developer, especially with media apps like these. However I would first try Resetting the devices. I found the best way to reset the iPad is to close all apps in the recently used app list. Double tap the Home button to reveal the list at the bottom then tap and hold one icon till they wiggle and display a minus button. Tap the to close all apps them press the Home button to get back to the home screen. Hold the Sleep button till "Slide to power off" appears. Once it has shut down completely press the Sleep button till you see the Apple icon.
The procedure is similar to resarting your computer when it starts acting flaky. iPads are just a hand head computer and rarely gets shut down or reset so it would be similar to running your computer for months at a time without shutting it down.

It could be a couple of things. You might have accidentally muted audio for Firefox. The article Knowledge Base article [[No sound in Firefox]] will show you how to check.
If that doesn't work, you should look at [[Video or audio does not play]]. This will show you how to troubleshoot any plugin/extension issues that might be impacting your system.

No audio when importing DV streams

I download my movie clips with "Image Capture" from my camera. I open in Quicktime and export as a DV stream. When I import the clips into iMovie I have no audio. I have tried everything for two days now. Can anyone help. No, I am NOT using iMovie 08...

No doubt your files are MPEG-1 and QuickTime Pro can't extract the audio from that format.
Open the files using MPEG Streamclip (free) and export to DV Stream. They will include the audio.

Airport Express - Discontinuous Audio when used for streaming music

I recently installed a new iMac with Leopard along with Time Capsule as the base station connected wirelessly to the iMac. Added Airport Express to this network and everything looks like it works after a couple of tries.
When I play iTunes on the iMac and select the Airport Express speakers, I get a discontinuous sound. iTunes plays the music for 10 sec, stops for a few sec, then picks up where it left off...repeat endlessly.
iTunes plays back fine on the computer's speakers.
Any thoughts on how to fix the discontinuous music streaming ?

1. Check to make sure that iTunes isn't hogging all of your CPU when it is running. If your CPU starts running at 100%, you will get audio dropouts. Make sure that unnecessary processes don't load at boot time.

2. In Quicktime, Edit -> Preferences -> Quicktime Preferences -> Audio -> uncheck "Safe Mode". If this doesn't work, then recheck. You should reboot to make sure.

5. If using a router and your Airport Express is a client of your router, move the antennas on your wireless router. One of the antennae should be at a 45 degree angle from the router so that the two antennas don't cause a conflict with each other. not familiar with this, what is a third party router? I have one main router for adsl and digital tv, + trying to get airport working for music...

Thank you very much for all your help but here I'm realy, realy getting fed up with this. Either it should work perfectly, either not, but here, sometimes it works, sometimes not, and there's no appearant reason when it drops.....you'll never know when it's gonna happen and for how long.

No Audio when converting a movie from iphoto into iweb.

I have a Sony Camera W17 which takes stills and short movies. I often grab little bit so film of the kids.
Today it was my daugthers birthday so I am in a hurry to get stuff up on my web page as we have moved to the opposite side of the world to our family.
So heres the problem. When I import the stills and movie I use iphoto and I can see all in there (although the duplicate option is crap for movies).
Now if I import them from the camera into imovie or copy across from iphoto I lose my sound. I really want to use the compressing function in imovie so I can add to my web page via iweb. The problem is that I lose the sound so I resort to copying the file in iphoto and taking it straight to iweb. These files are too large for most people to view.
Has anyone gots any tips as to how I get around this? What is causing the sound to get lost yet I can hear it in iphoto. I read somewhere that says its to do with the file type but I am not sure.

I have tried to import a song from itunes which turned out to be mpeg4 and not aiff. As a result the audio is not playing in FCP.
Is there anything I can do?

You may want to actually read the agreement you make with Apple and the iTunes store regarding the use of material acquired there. A song purchased from the iTunes store gives you the right to listen to it on up to 5 devices. It does not give you the right to utilize it in any syncronized video or other public display - whether or not money changes hands.
Have you negotiated the use rights with the artist already?
What VJK tells is technically correct it is also an illegal act. Let's put it this way - would it be OK for someone to take your work, use it for their purposes and maybe they credit or pay you later?

No Audio When Booting OS X from External HD

Hi, I've got a guest whose has pro-tools and a variety of other software on her MacBook Pro which is running Tiger. She needs her software and files, but wants to run it on my iMac(which is running leopard) for its bigger screen size. To help her out, I started her MacBook Pro in target Disk Mode, connected it to the iMac and then told the iMac to boot from her MacBook Pro. All her software ran, her files where there, and the computer even saw her external midi devices; the only problem is that there is no sound at all. None of the programs from iTunes to ProTools will playback any audio, and there isn't even a speaker icon in the menu bar.
Does anybody know what went wrong, or of any ways to fix this?

It's often problematic when you attempt to boot one model of Mac from the hard drive for a different model, since often the drivers required for the Mac you're attempting to boot aren't on the other Mac's drive. So your iMac probably isn't going to work correctly when booted from her MBP's drive; the MBP just won't have the necessary drivers for the iMac. If you want to give her use of your iMac's screen to run her MBP, the only option that's at all practical would be Screen Recycler.
BTW, this is the iTunes for Windows forum, so you'll not normally be very likely to get a quick and applicable answer here when asking a question about a Mac.

DVD rip 2 audio channels if i stream from itunes

I ripped my DVD in mp4 5 audio channals, i see them if i open with quicktime
i copy this file into itunes library on imac and stream it to my Apple TV 3, but i get 2 audio channals output
i'm sure of that because my HIFI display audio channals of input signal and has only 2 channals
should i enable something in itunes? is just not possible?

Yes. I would like to know if I can stream content from the apple store on both Apple TV devices simultaneously. Not from a computer, but items purchased from the Apple store on my first Apple TV device.

Just trying to capture hi 8 tapes using a sony digital 8 dcr-trv355e pal into quicktime;
great clear video but audio becomes out of sync like a bad kungfu movie,
contacted apple they tried to help, but they dont really understand issue
there are lots of people out there that are trying to digitise old analog video;
I have fcpx and imovie they both play the old video via the digital 8 camera but cannot capture;

Yes i think its something to do ith the fact its a wmv file, when i use mpeg footage it exports fine.
basically, no matter how long the video, the video is out of sync...its weird
i've decided the best thing to do is leave quicktime and export using windows media instead, that seems to give me a better looking picture witha small file size anyway

when this happens the new window opens but cannot be closed except by using the X in the top right hand corner( there is a "close " link on the web page which seems to be disabled. when the PC is switched of and on again firefox opens all the same winfdows which had been closed when shutting down
