No audio with BMCC CinemaDNG files

Hi everybody. I'm importing my RAW footage into SpeedGrade in order to export it to an editable file (ProRes) and I have no audio. The Audio window is greyed out as well.
The media has audio as I can hear it on other apps.

Hey, I've had any number of these things ... including some where I was having trouble and posted here only to realize the solution to my problem was SO staring me in the face the entire time I felt dumb as a rock (to use my 28-year-old ex-navy son's phrase). And totally embarrassed that I'd posted it here. This problem of yours was "simple" yet ... how many experienced people using say AVCHD and it's multi-part files & folder structure still end up here nearly every day because they've done something in moving files & projects around that led to PrPro not being able to play their footage or sequence properly? It's SO easy to do. To get that wrong, that is.
But then one time after posting a really dumb question I got a private message by another regular member here (and editor of some advanced skills professionally) thanking me for being so open in posting here, no matter how "dumb" my question ended up seeming to me. As ... to his pov, nearly everyone starting out in this software no matter HOW experienced in other editing rigs will have "dumb" problems too. Let alone those not used to this complicated video world. So he felt that I'd done two things: one, I'd helped make others feel more interested in posting their beginner troubles and two, I'd learned in the process. So ... keep at it, he says.
And I have. I still have dumb as rocks questions now and then, but ... I'm a lot farther along that I would have been if I hadn't posted them and my decent questions, and I've come to appreciate those around here who help others out. Stick around some, post any questions, and of course feel free to chime in when you think you've an answer for someone else. Nifty place in all ...

  • No audio with MPEG-2 files !

    Greetings !
I just installed the tryout version of encore DVD 2.0.
I have the same problem i had on Premiere Pro 7.0 where it can process the audio tracks of MPEG-2 files.
In Encore, i also can't ear a thing when using the monitor window to playback the asset MPEG-2 file in its own timeline.
In other words, can Adobe Encore DVD 2.0 can process MPEG-2 assets or is it just good for AVI format ?
    Thanks !

    Weird !
I tried again today and for some reason, part of the Audio is back !
    I still get gaps though.
I was wondering... I see this transcoding settings and not sure what it fully implies ! (Even after reading the manual)
I captured VHS tapes using Hauppauge WinTV PVR Hardware encoder (MPEG-2 chip)... With great results !!!!
I just figured that i wont be able to use Premiere to edit those rushs but my main goal was simply to put the rush on a well organized DVD... Therefore using Encore DVD 2.0.
What would the recomanded settings be in terms of audio transcoding ? Dolby, MPEG-1, PCM ??
    Should i set (Doesn't transcode) ???
    Thanks !

  • How do you get audio with your .avi files?

I'm trying to do a project that has some .avi files but there isn't any audio. Is there a way to get it?

There's a free downloadable program called Streamclip (www.squared5.com/) that will let you convert the audio format to .aiff audio that can be played by iMovie. I had a clip that wouldn't play audio in iMovie, and Streamclip was able to convert it so it would play.

  • AME-o Audio recognized for .mts files

    Really drives me crazy.
I am sure there is audio with this .mts file. But AME cann't recognize it. No issues for video clips in other format.
My AME version 6.0.0.382 (64-bit). And the source file here. Pls help
    http://youtu.be/6RXcFHpNWUU

I am having a similar problem: trying to ingest Sony HXR-NX5E .mts- files, and cannot get the audio. Plays with VLC-player. Log file shows the error message:
Dolby Audio Decode Licensing Restriction for /Volumes/NO NAME/PRIVATE/AVCHD/BDMV/STREAM/00034.MTS
This installation does not have a license to decode Dolby Digital audio.
    Updated to latest versions yesterday.
Trying to avoid the problem by setting the audio to PCM in camera, but I would be pleased to see issue fixed.

  • Export QuickTime file with new audio and maintain the file size and quality as the original.

I shot some footage for a client yesterday and ran into an issue. To make a long story short I have QuickTime mov files shot with my Panasonic GH4 that have a buzzing sound in the audio track. I have clean audio from a recorder that can be sync'd. Is there a way for me to do this for the client and deliver them as the same QuickTime file but with the clean audio and keep the file size close to the original and not have quality loss in the image?
If so I will probably put all of the spanned clips together from each interview and sync the audio before delivery. I am just not sure which codec will give the client the same quality footage compared to the originals and not have a massive difference in the overall file size. They did request that they be Quicktime MOV files though so that is a must.
I don't see this as an option in the codecs in the export settings in PP, but is there a way to export as ProRes or another MAC native codec that will save them from having to convert it on their end? I am on a PC with Adobe CS5.5 so I am not too familiar with MACs, but from what I understand they would need to convert the files if I sent them straight out of the camera.
I found some related search results for this but they pertained to "Best quality" for export. I am not sure how the varying options work but I don't want to create files that are considerably larger, just not less quality.
If anyone has experience with this it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Cole

Here's the workflow: I imported the video footage into iMovie '08 and did my edits. Then I exported it (share) to my desktop with compression set @ 740 X 480. Then I used QuickTime Pro to fix the audio track. The file plays perfectly with both audio tracks working. It's a QuickTime file (.mov).
I hope this jars any replies as to why the file when uploaded to my iWeb gallery drops the second audio track.
    Hmm,
    Jack

  • Hi, I have problem with importing MOV files from SJCAM 4000. MOV files are in supported formats for Adobe Premiere Elements 11. But if I'm importing MOV file, only audio part is imported, video part is not imported. How can I solve this problem?

Hi, I have problem with importing MOV files from SJCAM 4000. MOV files are in supported formats for Adobe Premiere Elements 11. But if I'm importing MOV file, only audio part is imported, video part is not imported. How can I solve this problem?

    haben
From looking at the specifications of your camera (SJCam 4000), we know already what video compression your camera is using. It is H.264.
A H.264.mov file should be supported by Premiere Elements 11. On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running?
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer? And, are you running QuickTime and Premiere Elements 11 from a
User Account with administrative privileges? Please go to Premiere Elements 11 Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime to confirm that you find
presets there for the QuickTime choice there.
What are the properties of these H.264.mov files - is it 1080p30 (1920 x 1080p30)  or something else? Do you know if this camera is recording with a variable or
    a constant frame rate?
Please review and consider and then we will decide what next.
    Thank you.

  • Embeding Video/Audio with a Premiere Pro Project File

Can anyone tell me how you can Embed your video/audio files with a Premeire Pro CS6 project file?  Copying all the original footage from your specific project and placing it into a folder with the project file? Thanks alot.
    Brandon C.

You can't.  The only asset from a PP project that can be embedded into the project file are PP generated titles.  Everything else will always be a separate file on the hard drive.
As for copying those separate files to a single location, I personally recommend using the proper tool for the job.  File management should always be done using a file manager, like Windows Explorer or Finder.

  • Tips for Users with Audio Issues in MPEG Files

I have seen a lot of users expressing issues with getting audio to export correctly in their videos, and I thought I would share what's worked for me.
Whenever I'm converting MPEG videos, I have found it useful to open the video with an audio editor (I use GoldWave) and export the audio as a WAVE file. I can then open that WAVE file in QuickTime, copy it to the clipboard, and choose the "Add to Movie" option in the player with the video. Once that's done I'm able to export the video along with the audio.
For DVD's with Dolby Digital audio, I've had success with DVD2AVI. Using that program I can decode the Dolby Digital audio to a WAVE file and use the same method of opening it in QuickTime and choosing the "Add to Movie" option. This has proven invaluable for transferring videos captured with my DVD recorder.
Basically, my solution has always been to extract the audio as a separate WAVE file and adding it to the video using the "Add to Movie" option.

I have sensory issues involving bright lights, flashing lights, loud noises, high-pitched noises, proprioception, and some other stuff. I don't have colorblindness.
I also have a fix to use bigger font sizes to reduce eyestrain. I tried using zoom, but too many websites broke with zoom, it kept reverting, etc. If nosquint does zoom better than the default, nosquint might help with that.
But... I still have sensory issues involving bright lights, flashing lights, loud noises, high-pitched noises, and a lot of other stuff everywhere and online, and I still need fixes ...and I also need people to stop beating me to the ground, but that's beyond Firefox.

I recorded audio with Quicktime player and the sound files won't disappear from the desktop no matter how I try to put them in the trash...tried xing out the red x, putting them in the trash...right clicking to make them disappear...nothing works...

Just got rid of them... I closed Quicktime and was asked to delete. So I deleted them. Problem solved.

  • No Audio with Video File

When I import my recorded file .mp4, the file comes in with only the Video. However, When i contacted the Adobe support they informed me of using "New Sequence from clip" and by doing so it creates a new sequence and the audio is there.
But here lies the further issue, if i am working with numerous files, my project will have many sequences due to having to use "New Sequence from clip" for all files, but when i go to merge any sequences together, it acts like the raw file and does not import the audio with it, despite it being there in its original sequence.
Any idea how to fix this issue?

Make sure an audio track is selected for source patching.

  • How do I synchronise audio and video with an mpg file created in elements 11 ?

How do I synchronise audio and video with an mpg file created in Premier Elements 11 ?
The source files are VOB files, and there is no problem with those source files.  But after creating the mpg file, the audio can be out of sync by 1 second or even 10 seconds, and sometimes zero seconds (ie perfectly OK).  That varies.  The variation might be linked to some of the VOB files.  ie. some are OK, and some are not.
Can I fix this automatically in Elements 11, or am I doing something wrong ?

    Hartwood,
First, Premiere (both Pro and Elements) do not handle MPEG Audio perfectly - they like some files, but not all files with MPEG Audio. That makes a VOB a less-than-perfect source file. Still, with a bit of work, one should be able to edit it just fine. One of the factors is that there is a very slight block-size difference between the Encoded Video Stream and the Encode Audio Stream in a muxed MPEG-2 file. That often does not play into things, but can cause slight OOS (Out of Sync) issues. Also, both Premieres need to create all I-Frame files for the Video Stream, which is in GOP (Group of Pictures) structure, so what one sees on the Timeline is really a proxy of the MPEG-2 file's Video Stream. The Audio Stream must also be Conformed to PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 32-bit floating point, to be edited. That Conforming is perfect when one has PCM/WAV @ 48KHz 16-bit for the Audio Stream, but requires more work, when the Audio Stream is MPEG (one reason that some MP3's do not work well in Premiere). Several factors involved here, and a fair amount of work for the program. That is why DV-AVI Type II w/ 48KHz 16-bit PCM/WAV Audio works so perfectly.
Now, fixing OOS might be easy, or might require a bit more work. This article goes into some workflows, that might be helpful: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/436751?tstart=0
I can feel your pain, as I almost went crazy trying to fix OOS in a client's Project. They ONLY had the finished DVD, from which to work. The disc met the DVD-standards, so everything ripped/Imported fine, and when the simple edits were done (IIRC, there were four scenes, that had to be shortened, and then several Titles added), everything played fine in the Timeline. However, when I Transcoded that Timeline to be authored in Adobe Encore, two scenes went OOS. I went back to Premiere, and checked - all perfect there. I tried to judge the number of Frames that the Audio was out, in those scenes, and nudged them, tested, nudged, tested, and no matter what I did, I could never get the output files perfect, when Imported into Encore for authoring to DVD-Video. I tried DV-AVI, and letting Encore set the Transcoding automatically (usually a great way to work), I tried manually setting the Transcoding in Encore. I tried outputting to MPEG-2 from Premiere, and Importing that. No matter what I did, those two scenes were just OOS, and I could not even seem to improve them - it was like they were just locked OOS. I finally did some more editing, to break things up a bit, added a cut-away shot here, and there, and minimized the perceived OOS, but could never get it perfect. It was like trying to pick up quicksilver with a pair of tweezers!
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Suddenly no audio with mpg files via QT 7.4.5 & no audio with wmv files

Out of the blue, audio playback does not work with any mpg file saved to my hard drive using Quicktime. So, I downloaded the most recent update (7.4.5) and the same thing, no audio. It occurred at the same time when wmv files stopped producing audio on my wmv player. Not sure where the problem exists. I get audio if I open the same mpg using my VLC player...just not QT.
    Thanks!!!
