No audio with internal speaker. Help!

Serious problem here! Audio just stopped working using internal speaker. Went to YouTube to show a friend how it works, and video was fine, but no audio. So I switched to iPod mode, NO AUDIO!!! Output is fine via dock connector or headphones, and the internal speaker works fine when playing ringtones, etc. What happened, and how can I fix it? Tried cycling power, hard reset, and restore software via iTunes. Any suggestions? Help!

Apple suggests plugging and unpluging the headphones, sometimes the headphone sensor gets stuck.

No audio from internal speaker

My Macbook suddenly stopped recognizing its speakers. When I go to system preferences, the only listing under "output" is "digital output". I can use headphones, but when I unplug them, the red light remains on in the headphone jack and the speakers won't work. The speaker icon is grayed out.
I have tried removing the battery and zapping the PRAM. I have also tried going into the library and trashing all the audio settings. I originally thought this was a problem associated with 10.6.3 update, but apparently, that is not the case. I even took my computer in to the Apple Store. They ended up replacing my hard drive, which did nothing to solve my problem (but gave me days of reinstalling applications ahead of me).
Apple tech support via phone have not come up with any solution.

Same thing just happened to my 3 year old MacBook... I fixed it after referencing the URL below and realizing one of the "tabs" in the audio port was causing the problem. After about 8 tries of working the ear pod jack in/out of the port (with red light glowing), the light finally went away and my internal speakers now work. I've seen some people recommend taking a toothpick and gently pressing down the tabs in the audio port, but that didn't work for me. Good luck!

No audio from internal speaker or headphones

Hi all,
I have no sound coming out of my internal speakers or headphones. I'm using a Probook 4510s, Windows 7 Professionl (32 bit), SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio. Not quite sure what is causing this as I didn't make any recent changes to the system. I read up on all the forums, and this is what I've done so far:
- Triple-checked the volume and default sound settings.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the sound driver twice (downloaded it from HP Support)
- Disabled and re-enabled the sound driver
- Checked the BIOS to ensure that the sound device is on
- Ran all the possible sound diagnostics from Windows Fixit and the onboard feature in the Control Panel - no issues detected
- Ran Windows Update to see if it could resolve the problem
- Uninstalled and reinstalled HP Quicklaunch Buttons to see if it was maybe interfering with the sound
- Ran multiple virus, malware and spyware checks - nothing comes up
Could this be a hardware issue? Is there anything else besides a clean install I can try??
ANY help would be much appreciated, apart from the obvious solutions I've tried already?

If you feel that its a hardware issue most probably some drivers were messed around (either added or updated) via windows update in the background.
Try this as a last resort (as i cant think of better options right now)
- Disable windows update for sometime
- download slim drivers : http://www.driverupdate.net/downloads/SlimDrivers-setup.exe
- let it download the db and scan ur system.
- if it shows something related to audio (infact others like chipser related, mei etc) update them one by one.
- keep a check on the driver details tab in device manager to make sure the update was indeed applied.
- restart pc if reqd.
- check your audio output.
- if it works just make sure to do a manual windows update scan and see the culprit and add it into the ignore list

Can't record audio with G580 please help!

I am trying to record audio for a video and using a Lenovo G580 laptop with a Logitech headset. There is a red and a green cord but only one slot. Do I need an audio splitter or jack? I am just trying to record with the red one I don't need the green though.

Recording audio with internal sources

I dont know if this is the best place to ask.
I can record external audio sources fine, but what about internal such as while listening to a radio program in iTunes or some other software (such as Real) is there any way to capture the audio?

I can't comment on this specifically, but I use other products from this company and they work well.
I do use something called iRecordMusic from Bit Cartel Software for recording radio programming that is streamed with Real Audio.

Hey guys, I am trying to make a form application within swing (currently using netbeans gui builder), and I am trying to achieve a standard sized form (say 300x200px) and when the user clicks a "next" button, the
form layout does not change and a new form appears inside. I have looked into jinternalFrames; however I do not want a moveable frame inside, I just want to have an arbituary frame where the content inside
changes. I plan on making around 60 pages (forms) within this app so differant jforms or something is the logical procedure.
I just need a point in any direction at all, as to how to achieve this; I am confident programmer in C/C#/C++/VB.NET (yes im new to java) however it's so similiar to C# I doubt i'll have a problem either:
a) information on how to program the swing manually without a gui builder
b) a method of how to achieve what im doing in netbeans/eclipse

Xperia l restarts when using Walkman app with internal speaker

Hi recently I updated my xperia l to 15.3.A.1.14.
But after that whenever I start playing songs without headset my phone shutdown and restarting. Is there any solution for this issue. Anybody please help to fix this problem.

after that i can hear the audio only from earphones

Go ahead and complete the Software Updates to 10.7.5... that may or may not solve your problem. If it doesn't then your audio output port may be 'stuck' in digital mode. There's a tiny switch inside that can be 'reset', usually, by unplugging and replugging headphones multiple times (fast) or by using a slightly dulled toothpick.
You can usually (but not always) tell whether or not you're stuck in digital mode by looking to see if there is a red light on in the port.

Help needed with internal/external speaker problem

I have a problem that I am trying to find a solution for and I'm hoping you can help. I'm helping a friend with a home theatre setup and I'm a little bit stuck. He has a 20" iMac and I plan on hooking it up to a soundcast wireless music streamer. My problem is, if I plug the soundcast into the headphone port I will lose the internal speaker sound, which is what he uses since he doesn't have external speakers. My question is, how can I get sound output through both the internal iMac speakers and through the headphone port at the same time. I have searched and don't believe the iMac can support this by default so I was wondering if there is any software out there that can do this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I too have wondered about this in the past. I have an Imac Intel 24" w/ a USB speaker system in place. Following the above instructions did not solve the issue of having the Imacs internal speaker playing while my usb system is on-possibly I have misunderstood? Going into the the utilities>>>Midi did not help; in fact, in the area for Midi, there was only two default devices listed already; I tried adding another device but nothing pertinent showed up or worked.

Do movie recording with INTERNAL SYSTEM AUDIO [soundflower doesnt help in this case]

Hi, I used to use a screen capturing program called Snapz Pro X. What I liked to do was record myself playing guitar / singing etc. I had my audio come from Logic during the capture so I could have effects on the mic as well as have multiple tracks. I basically opened up photobooth and screen captured the video from there, and used the audio capture to get the Logic audio. For some reason Snapzpro won't let me record internal systme audio anymore so I tried to switch to something else.
I see on this new quicktime you can record video similar to photobooth. When I go to the settings, I only see you can choose microphone. You cant capture system audio. So I downloaded soundflower to re route it. When I do a video record and play something like iTunes it works in the render, but I cant hear the music playing as it is in the recording process. This is the main problem for me.
I want to use soundflower to be able to record whatever audio is coming out of Logic Pro and just use Quicktimes isight for the video. If I change my Logic pro pref in audio output to soundflower and record it works BUT you cant hear audio WHILE recording doing this.
So I basically cant hear anything while recording which defeats the purpose. Keep in mind im not recording anything in logic at all. Im just capturing the audio from the program.
How can I record in a program like photobooth or quicktime for the video part and then be able to have the captured audio from logic pro in it?
And by the way, I am not interested in recording separate things and then combining them in post. I want something quick and easy I can do right on the fly.

I realized why Snapz Pro audio isnt working now. I just recently got an audio interface, the "Duet 2" from Apogee. I use it to plug in microphones and guitars into my computer.
I just did a test with the in and outputs set to the mbp and the audio worked fine. When I plugged in my interface and tried to capture audio with Snapz Pro, it crashes everytime. I guess it just can't work together.
Screen capturing the isight window is kind of a crumby process to do what I want to do.
If anyone can figure out a way to record video directly from quicktime or photobooth and use the soundflower audio for logic please let me know...it seems like a better process

I had the same problem and spent a few hours with the helpdesk folks telling me to flip the side switch, turn up the volume, etc.. Finally drove back to my local Apple store and found I had a defective model and my speaker was faulty... dies after an hour. They cheerfully replaced my iPhone and have had no problems since. Hope you get yours working, but thought I would let you know it may require a replacement. Good luck!

Audio - Only through Internal Speaker

I have just done a re-install of Tiger to attempt to resolve an issue with sound and FCEHD. I am close but still not there.
I note up front - I have nothing installed on the machine except Tiger and FCEHD.
I do have Harman/Kardon sound sticks - which are USB speakers.
The computer (iTunes, System Sounds etc) functions through the speakers - however - audio from FCEHD is forced through the system speaker.
Please help! Am I forced to buy new speakers? Apple always has me spending MORE money

May I ask what you use as a work around?
I just noticed that if I change my system preferences to digital out - the internal speaker no longer functions with FCEHD - so now I am thinking that I can run a optical to the input of my M-Audio box and monitor it that way - or it may even feed back into the USB speakers. I feel stupid having to rig up a $4,000 computer system...

Unable to record internal audio with RecordMyDesktop

In order to record sound and video from my desktop, I installed RecordMyDesktop (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/RecordMyDesktop) and followed the instructions from post #4 and #6 on a thread about "Recording internal audio with alsa and recordmydesktop" (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 3#p1359593). When I try to record with "recordmydesktop --device looprec", it will not start recording and closes with the following error:

I can record from the microphone with with the command "recordmydesktop". I succeeded in recording the internal audio with audacity by choosing the device "looprec" for recordings. I'm not sure why RecordMyDesktop gives an error while Audacity does not. Below is my ~/.asoundrc, which I copied from the aforementioned thread.
