No audiobooks in my music app?

I have recently downloaded two audiobooks from iTunes and can not find them in the music app. I have no 'more' or 'audiobook' options showing in my music. Can anyone help me find them?

Audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store, so it wouldn't have shown on your phone unless you had synced it to it. You can try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support and see if they will grant you a redownload of it (if they do then you may want to download it on your computer's iTunes and then sync it to your iPad and phone) : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
You can turn off 'automatic syncing' on your computer's iTunes when a device is connected to your computer's it via the Devices tab in Edit > Preferences (iTunes > Preferences on a Mac), and you can copy purchases from a device to your computer's iTunes by connecting it and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.

  • Audiobooks in ios5 Music App

Ok, so everyone has already complained that the new Music app in ios 5 is a shockingly poor replacement for the old iPod app, but my issue goes a little deeper.
When I try to play a non-audible audiobook in the Music app, it only plays the track I selected, it does not move on to the next track. Quite annoying if you have 3000 tracks of 2mins long per audiobook....
If I install the iPhone Audible app (come on Audible, when are you gonna support iPad users properly), it can access my non-audible audiobooks, but it screws up the chapters...
I am literally pulling my hair out at this point. The iPod app was solid, why change it for something which has significantly reduced functionality. Fair enough if Apple and Audible have made a deal for all audiobooks to be played through their app, but their app isn't perfect and hasn't been built around the iPad platform.
The Music app on ios5 is a major step backwards... Please fix it ASAP

    Hi Covuniracer,
When you play a non-audible audio book in the music app, is the book defined as an audiobook or just as music? Are the book files MP3's from CD or M4A's from CD or WMA or protected WMA?  I'm asking because I have similar issues and I'm finding that the format of the original file seems to determine the eventual failure.
I have 3rd gen ipod touch 32Gb just upgraded to IOS5.  Error symptoms are:
    1) WMA/DRM transferred audio books:
         a) Don't show up anwhere except in a play list.  They show up in iTunes, but not anwhere on the ipod -- not as a book, not as music.
         b) Track title are now 3-6 digit numbers.  Album, Author, TRACK numbers, all missing.
Changing the setting (Devices, Summary Tab, reduce to 128kbps) has no effect.
Restoring and loading the iPOD as a new device had no effect.
Updating the apps on the IPOD has no effect.
    2) MP3 transferred from library audio books:
    a) Show up as music and will play if I leave them there, but if I tell iTunes they are audio books, they show up in audio books on the iPOD but will not play.  They play fine on iTunes and on my shuffle.  Putting these into playlists has no effect on their behavior.
    b) I can get the Music app to recognize and play an MP3 audiobook as an audiobook for a short while by doing the following:
First, get it playing as a music file.  Pause it.  Start ITUNES, plug in the IPOD and redfine the book as an audiobook.  Then sync, exit, unplug the pod.  The book will still play from where we left it.  Back track to the ALBUMS page-- its blank now, nothing shows up.  Go to Audio book.  It now shows up as an audio book and will play.  Now if I go back to Albums, the expected stuff shows up on it.
This only works for a little while.  As soon as I switch to the 2nd track, none of the MP3 audiobooks "fixed" in this way will play anymore.
Changing the setting (Devices, Summary Tab, reduce to 128kbps) has no effect.
Restoring and loading the iPOD as a new device had no effect.Updating the apps on the IPOD has no effect.
    3) MP3 audio book ripped from CD seems to work fine.  (SK Gunslinger)
    4) M4a (ripped by earlier version of ITUNES) audio track seems to work fine.
Level 5 dance music shows up in Music, 64kbps AAC audio audio file.  All the "fields" are good
Also:  I move books to the pod by drag and drop only, I do no auto syncing.

  • After upgrading to ios7 can't play an audiobook with the music app.

After upgrading to ios7 I have been unable to play an audiobook from the Music app. I am also not getting a clean sych. The ipad goes through the sych steps through step 8, but just continues to sit waiting to apply changes.Any idea as to what the problem might be? Can I reload ios7?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • Audiobooks in the "music" app display tracks in alphabetical, not actual track order

Since updating my iPad 1 to iOS 5.0.1 my audiobooks (Teaching Company) display in the "music" app in alphabetical, not actual track order.  They display correctly in iTunes from my synced computer.  I've tried designating them as compilations and not as compilations, and either way, the same result.  Further, when I hit play on the first track listed, it does not go to the second track, rather it just stops.

  • Help required with Audiobooks on iOS5 Music app

I have just upgraded my iPad to the latest OS which changed the ipod app to the new Music app.  Unfortunately there are a couple of issues in the Audiobooks feature.
    1) when you listen to an audiobook, it no longer moves automatically from one file to the next (like a playlist).  It gets to the end of the file and stops.  This particularly annoying when it is a book that is split into 2 minute files.  I have looked for an option in case it is a configurable feature but can not find it.
    2) for some of my audiobooks it has listed the files in a random order so the story does not flow in the right order.  I do not understand what is causing this.
I have search the apple website and there does not seem to be a way to raise a bug report.   Any thoughts on whether this is a configuration problem on my iPad or whether it is the new software.

  • How to view long chapter titles without abbreviation for audiobooks in music app?

Many of the names of the chapters of the audiobooks I listen to in the music app are extremely long (i.e., more than 22 characters).  However, I cannot find a way to display more than the first ~22 characters.
When I start playing an audiobook, I click the little button in the upper right corner of the screen.  This displays all of the chapter titles.  However, it displays only one line per title, and if the title is longer than ~22 characters, it abbreviates with an ellipsis.  Clicking on the title just causes it to play.  Side scrolling doesn't seem to be available.  I can find no way to display the whole title.  This is extremely frustrating, because I like to know what I'm listening to, and I sometimes like to be able to choose a chapter based on the title.
Is it possible to display long chapter titles for audiobooks on iOS, or is this a missing feature that I need to ask Apple to incorporate into a future iOS build?
PS It would also be nice if the app displayed the chapter titles on the playback screen (i.e., on the screen one sees without having to click the button in the upper right hand corner). I'll suggest this to Apple as well.  If others do the same, athttp://www.apple.com/feedback/ perhaps they'll listen.
PPS It would also be nice if audiobooks could be displayed by author, the way music can be displayed by artist, on iOS.  Another piece of feedback I'll be giving Apple.  Please do the same if you'd also like this feature.

  • ITunes audiobook downloaded but missing from Music app

I purchased and downloaded an audiobook from iTunes but it does not show up in the Audiobooks section of the Music app.
It shows up on the device when I enter the title in the iOS7 Search bar (so it definitely downloaded).
It will play when I tap on the Search hit (so it downloaded successfully).
When I tap the "back" button while it's playing I get to the "Audobooks" page in the Music app: but the book isn't shown in the list of available titles!
So it's on my device but can only be accessed via Search.
    I've force-quit the Music app.
    I've hard-rebooted by iPhone 5.
I haven't synched to my Mac in 2 years (not even sure my Mac iTunes is up to date)

The exact same thing happened to me - I downloaded an Audiobook and it entered a black hole. This is ridiculous! I even tried pluggin it into my iMac and transferring purchases to my computer and then syncing it again that way and it did not fix the problem. It seems though that other audiobooks that I did purchase on my Mac and then transferred to my iPhone worked fine, but I'd rather not have to plug it in to my Mac.

  • Can I listen to audiobooks apart from the Music app?

Is there any way for me to listen to my iTunes audiobooks apart from the Music app?
The music app is annoying. It can't remember the playback position of the audiobook files.
I used to change the books into podcasts and then use the podcasts app but now it wouldn't sync .
I wish Apple will make a seperate Audiobooks app...

If they are not drm and or if amazon Got an app which play them

  • Music app doesn't show audiobooks anymore

I used to listen to podcasts, audiobooks, and other recordings on my iPhone, but starting yesterday, the categories in the Music app changed so that I can't access these files anymore.
I tried to open them with other apps (Podcasts, Audible) and it didn't work either.
(to be clear: I can listen to audobooks from Audible in the Audible app; I can also listen to podcasts that I subscribed to in the Podcasts app; but if I download single episodes of podcasts straight from the websites or have other audio files that I declare as audiobooks in iTunes on my Mac and that show up there under audiobooks, there are the ones that don't show up anymore -- though when I connect my phone to the Mac and check from there it shows that the files are on the phone (though they are inaccessible via Spotlight too)).
Here a screen of what my Music app looks like now, the category "Audiobooks" just disappeared:

Which model phone do you have?
I have a 32 GB 4S and the alphate is visible on, Artist, Songs, Albums, Composers and Genres, not visible on compilations and playlists.
Sounds like you might need to take it to apple since you alreade did a restore.
I would hate to suggest this, but you might need to restore as new and see what happens before you restore from a backup.

  • Audiobook tab won't show up on my iPhone music app

I recenty purchased an audiobook through iTunes on my iPhone, but after the download was complete there is no tab or category to easily find my audiobook.  I have synced my iPhone with iTunes on my Mac to ensure that the metatags reflected that the "book" was listed as an audiobook.  But still nothing is showing up. The only way I can play my audiobook is if I search for it by name.  Has anyone else had this issue or found a work around for this?

The solution that worked for me is as follows:
    1. Settings
    2. iTunes & Apps
    3. Tap Apple ID
    4. Sign Out
    5. Reboot iPhone
    6. Settings
    7. iTunes & Apps
    8. Sign In
Audiobook Tab appears under "More" in Music App.

  • IOS Music app forgets playback position for audiobooks

The iOS music app on my phone repeatedly is losing playback position for audiobooks. I go to the Music app > Audiobooks > BookTitle  and get to a menu where I see part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, and part 1 says, below the title/author listing, says
    8:53:58  6hr 49 min left
And I touch the title to start it playing, and it shows the little red marker on the progress bar at about the right position for 2 hours having been played, and as often as not, there is a little flash and then the red marker is back at the far left side and it starts playing again at the beginning.
These are books from various sources--today's example was a Librivox download, others have been books on CD, and checking in iTunes verifies that they have been correctly coded as audiobooks and 'remember playback position' is automatically checked.
It's a PITA hunting through an 8 hour long recording with only the crude control of the little progress bar and 15 second skip forward/back to find the spot I left off.
It doesn't happen with the same titles in iTunes on the computer.

Clicked reply by accident, and now can't edit the post.
Has anyone else seen the same problem?
These are books from CDs or librivox recordings, linked into one or a few multiple-hour files with Join Together.  I have never bought an audiobook from iTunes so don't know if those are handled better.

  • I bought an audiobook, but it wont show up in the audiobook section in the music app

I bought an audiobook, but it wont show up in the audiobook section in the music app. When I go to the book in the search in ITunes, it says it is downloaded...but does not show up in the audiobooks section in my music app

If you pull down the centre of the iPad's homescreen (not from right at the top of the screen as that will open notifications) to open the search field, if you type in the name of the audiobook or the name of the author does that find it ?
If not then you could try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

    Hello Opewan,
Thank you for contacting Apple Support Communities. The support article
    Syncing music to iPod shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1719
Is the correct place for your question. Selecting what music you want to sync and then checking the box "Replace allitems when autofilling"
should do what you are wanting. If that doesn't do exactly what you want, you can always sync manually.
If you prefer not to use Autofill to sync music to your iPod shuffle, you can manually sync music instead.
Connect iPod shuffle to your computer and open iTunes.
Select the option to "Manually manage music" from the iPod Summary tab of the iPod settings screen.
Select your Music, Podcasts, or Audiobooks Library or a playlist on the left side of the iTunes window.
Select one or more pieces of audio content and drag them to the iPod shuffle icon under Devices.
If you have turned on disk use, disconnect iPod shuffle by selecting it under Devices and clicking the eject icon (iPod shuffle is ready to be disconnected when the status light stops flashing).
    Regards,
    Jeff D.
