No auto run on CS4 student licensing

I just purchased CS4 Design Standard to install on an HP laptop running Vista 64, sp1. I purchased it this summer, so it is fairly new. When I tried to install from the first disc in the case entitled, "Application 2," I get the following error message:
E:\
Application not found
There are no auto run or setup.exe for CS4 on the disc.
The other disc, "Content," does not have anything to install - just pdf files and such - no programs.
I have sent an email outlining the problem and looked through the forums, but didn't see this specific issue.
Any ideas?

There were earlier reports of academic packages missing a DVD. The only
thing I can suggest is calling Adobe.

  • CS4 student licensing restrictions on commercial use?

I have a question concerning using a student licensed CS4 for commercial purposes after one is out of school. I've just spent several hours researching this topic and talking to a service representative via the chat only to increase my confusion. Some posts say yes, some say no, some say no only to non-US users, some seem to say yes to education editions but no to student licensing versions (if there is a difference?), and the rep I talked to said no.
So, to be safe, I'm asking here: can I use my Student Licensing CS4 Design Standard version to do commercial work with after I'm out of school? I bought it while in college legitimately, its the kind that you have to visit the student licensing web page on adobe.com in order to get the serial number for. However, I have seen multiple conflicting answers on the forums concerning this version. I do not know if "Student License" versions are the same as "Student Edition" versions, or "Education Edition" versions, or "Teacher Edition" versions, or if any of those last three are even actual versions.
To be clear, the word "edition" does not appear at all on my CS4 Student Licensing package. The package cover art has a white background with a vertical line in the middle of it that is made up of red gradients.
This question is from someone who both currently lives in, and bought the Student Licensing version of CS4 in, the United States. (2009)
    Thank you for your help!

There are no restrictions against you using your student-licensed version of CS4 (either any of the suites or individual programs) for commercial work other than that you may not sell or otherwise transfer your license to anyone else.

  • Multiple installs of cs4 student licensing

How many license installs come with the student license of cs4?  I have a few machines a new one and an old one and my wife’s how many install licenses comes with the student version?

i am a bit confused when you say only two actevtions but then you say done go back and forth on the machiens i am not sure i understand
Well you indicated that you had 3 computers with your wife's. deactivating one of your 2 to activate on you wife's computer will use up you 20 active/deactivations fast.
i have a laptop machien and a desk top machien and i use both all the time and often at the same time what should i do ?
As stated You have 2 activations that you can use. 1 for work 1 for laptop or home. You are not supposed to use CS4 on the desktop to do one thing and at the same time do another thing on your laptop.

  • CS5 update date issue with CS4 Student Licensing version

Before downloading the Flash Pro CS5 update, from Adobe's web-site, I called Adobe and asked this question, " Will the Flash Pro CS5 upgrade work with my Student Licensing version?"  The answer I received (after being put on hold), was "Yes, the CS5 upgrade will work with my version of CS4."
However...after paying for and downloading the Flash Pro CS5, I am finding that it is not working. The serial number asked for, from my version of CS4, comes up as being not valid.
Any suggestions as to resolving this issue would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

  • Transferring CS4 Student License to a New Computer?

I purchased a student license for CS4 Design Standard (Mac) in 2008. I recently got a new computer and want to transfer that license from my old computer to the new one (I have since graduated). Is it possible to do this, and if so, how?

You do not need/want to transfer.  Just install it like you did originally.  If you need a download link try the following one:
    CS4 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs4-product-downloads.html
You are allowed to have two activated installations, so if you would like to retain a backup installation you can keep it on the old machine.  If you would rather disable/remove it from the old machine then you should be sure to deactivate it first (open any program and choose Help -> Deactivate)

  • New hard drive: Trouble re-installing CS4 Student License.

So, the hard drive in my Macbook died.
I installed a new hard drive and tried unsuccessfully to restore from Time Machine backup several times before giving up and installing a fresh OS Mavericks.
I still have the original discs, however, the optical drive on this machine quit long ago. So far I've been successful dragging applications over from the backup on my external drive, but when I go to open my Adobe software I am getting error messages: InDesign says something about missing Roman.txt, Photoshop says I need to restart, etc.
I'm fairly certain this is linked to serial numbers and the limited student license, but not sure how to fix it.
    HALP!
    Thanks.

uninstall (if you can), or delete (if you can't uninstall) everything adobe that you 'dragged', clean (Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6) and properly install adobe programs with the adobe installers.

  • CS4 student licensing question

I'm a graphic design student graduating next year. If I install it to my laptop this year, will it still continue working for me after I graduate?
Also, I think my laptop has something wrong with it, so I might get a new one. If I install the creative suite onto this laptop, will I be able to uninstall it and then reinstall into a new computer?
    Thanks.

I wasn't aware of a difference in Academic versions and Student versions.
I just purchased what was billed as an Academic version but the box says Student Edition.
My wife is enrolled in college and thus the purchase. Is it just major upgrades (ie..CS5) that student editions are not eligible for or even incremental?
Doesn't seem right that incremental updates, which 9/10 are actually fixes for system errors, efficiency and such that theoretically should have been tested for before going to market would not be available but the free-market has change considerably in the last few years.

  • CS4 Student Standard

I am trying to run the cs4 student standard. A split second after it runs a system profile check and the serial entry window pops up I get "Adobe setup has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconveniance". I uninstalled my elements 5.0. I have run registry cleanups. I disable all background programs I can find. Even those via cntrl/alt/del that show any cpu activity. I ran numerous virus scans and spyware scans.  I ran the setup on a laptop running vista and I got past the hang up. I can't use that laptop for cs4 though because it was preinstalled with vista stock from Toshiba but it only has 1g of ram and a 2.0 single core. I know right. computer companies will do anything to make an extra couple bucks. It runs like crap and there is no way cs4 would run well on it. Here is the machine I am trying to install it on.
    ASUS  M2N68-AM SE2
NVIDIA Geforce 9600 GT by BFG
AMD Athlon 64 2.5 dual core
2 gigs of Corsaire 1066mhz (even though the cpu only picks it up as 800mhz)
Windows XP Professional 2002 version w/service pack 3
I want to install it on my WD Caviar Black 32MB cache/7200 RPM 1TB hard drive(if that even matters) but I cant get far enough to choose the drive for install. I was able to get install going on another PC so I know it isnt a bad disc. I need this soon for school  and I can't seem to get any results from tech support. They actually had the nerve to tell me to upgrade to Windows 7. Sure maybe I should but I can't afford 7 now because I bought this and I want to make sure Microsoft works out all the bugs before I waste my money like I did Vista. The tech support people were cool and all but they couldnt help. I was hoping someone here may have seen this error before and can help. I have no previous versions of CS anything on here. Just Lightroom now. I doubt that is the issue. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I love Adobe products and this is the 1st problem I ever had that I could not fix. Its just seems kinda weird. I have been using PS and Elements and CS3 for a long time on other PCs ad would like to be able to use this quality product that I know it is.

I didn't think you buy the student edition anywhere but from a school. You'll need to call Adobe to find out what your next step is.

  • Photoshop CS4 Mac Student License...

    Hey guys!
    Dan here..
I have a quick question about student licensing,
I plan in the new year to purchase Adobe Production Premium for mac on a student license,
But I also would like to install Photoshop onto another macbook as well as my main computer,
Under the terms of student licensing adobe say that you cannot be issued more than one serial for each product on a student license,
And Production Premium contains Photoshop CS4,
Would it be possible to order Production Premium and a seperate copy of Photoshop CS4 on a student license as i believe Production premium has only one license key as apposed to seperate keys for the seperate componants,
    Any help would be awesome!
    Thankyou!
    Dan

That's nice though a bit of an hassle, if you ask me. Activating and deactivating all the time might be time consuming.
As for the upgrading to full version, I'll be back to you on that in two weeks. I'll have completed my degree. In my understanding, my student license gives me the "two comupters not running at the same time" priviledge. Would be nice to have a third activation upgrade. Just in case.
Oh! and if you're wondering I think that the activation software looks at the computer's IP adress for activation. Had a problem with my hard drive and had to reinstall everything (even the OS) on a back-up drive. I reactivated Photoshop and asked an Adobe representative to see if I had used up all my activations. Nope, had used only one. So I guess you can install as many times you want on the same computer as long as it doesn't change location.

  • Student License CS4 upgrade to Student License CS6?

Is it possible to upgrade student versions to a newer student version? Or is it only possible to upgrade to commercial from student license?

Upgrade to CS Production Premium 5.5 before the special offer ends (May 5?) then you get a free upgrade to Production Premium CS6.  I don't know what the price will be in GBP because it is always a hassle trying to look at other country sites.  Adobe and other companies tend to re-direct you to the country site they think you should be on, and I find this extremely annoying...  It should be cheaper than upgrading from CS4 to CS6 directly.

  • Student Licensing Please Help!

    Hey everybody,
I have a simple but specific question,
Ive posted this on other forums but people have kinda gone off topic..
I just purchased Adobe Production Premium on a Student license
    Production Premium Encorperates Photoshop Cs4
Adobe limits the amount of serials you can be issued under a student licese to one per product,
Would I then be able to purchase Web Premium Under a student licesnse which also encorperates photoshop cs4?
This is really bugging me any help would rock!
    Thanks Guys!
    Dan

You can purchase the web premium as well.
that would be a different product. be aware that if you install them on the same machine then you will no be able to install photoshop twice however
if you install only photoshop on another computer from that Web Suite and you are running the other computer you will not be able to use Photoshop on that other computer until you shut down the other computer. In other words your copies of photoshop are tied to the Suites which are different products however the individual applications cannot be spread out over more than two computers and can only on computer can use any of the applications at one time. That is any of the applications.
So the only way you get to use both versions of Photoshop is to run the suites on separate computers. However the one thing I am not certain of is what would happen if you tried to network these computers.
I would think that could cause problems. I would check with customer service.

  • More then one student license on same account

Hello. Can i have more then one student license on same account. The 60% of thingy. One for home, one for work and one for the notebook. They may run simultaneously because of the friends using the computer. All 3 computers will use same account name and password.

You may install software on up to two computers. These two computers can be Windows, Mac OS, or one each.
If you install on a third computer, it will request you to de-activate on the other two computers.  You can then reactivate one of the previous two computers, and use Creative Cloud apps on it.
If you regularly need to use the Creative Cloud on more than two computers then it would be best to purchase an additional subscription.  This is the same licensing btw which we have for our prepetual product.  An advantage though for Creative Cloud over the perpetual product is that you can install on Mac and Windows with the same subscription!
As it stands, the EULA states that you can install it on up to two computers at a time, however, you cannot use applications on those computers simultaneously. This is the case even when you are not using the same application
