No backup file after dvd burning

Doe
ss PE8 not create a backup file or iso image when you burn to dvd .Cant seem to find one if it does, if it does'nt thats pretty poor

Well, the reason that Adobe does not save a copy of the VIDEO_TS is that it's a rather large file, and they assume that if a user wanted that on their system, they would do the Burn to Folder instead. I always do that, and then test in CyberLink's PowerDVD. I will then burn an RW disc (for testing only and NOT for delivery), to be tested in all my set-top players, for compatibility. If everything tests OK, and I find no errors, I then do the Burn to Disc with my delivery media, or will burn that VIDEO_TS file with ImgBurn.
Many users do not have enough defragmented free space on their systems to allow for the working files, much less a ~ 4.7 GB VIDEO_TS folder too.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • PE2 - corrupt file after DVD burn

I know there has been a lot of discussion around getting the "A Serious Error Has Occurred..." error when opening a project but I've not seen a solution to this particular problem. Every time a burn a DVD for my current project, the project file is corrupted. I'm assuming I can turn off autosave and prevent the corrupted project from being saved. Instead, I've taken to saving the file as a backup just prior to burning then saving a project names PROJECTXBURN.prel and using it as a sacrificial file.
Has anyone else seen this rather annoying behavior - have any suggested solutions?
    Thanks,
    Bennie Gibson

Thanks for the pointer to those steps:
1 - opened projectxbeforeburn, saved as projectxburn (just in case), exported the entire project as an AVI - saved projectxburn and reopened no problems
2 - believe it or not, I don't have any 'burner' software other than PE2 and Roxio backup. don't have any way to test burning direct from a TS folder to DVD
3 - first thing I tried - cleared disc (even though this is a 'small' 15 minute project and defragged - confirmed scratch disks pointing to cleared/defragged disk (57GB free)
I'll see if I can find some freeware burner s/w or other way to test option 2. I'm also going to dig around for some old projects and try burning them to compare results as this has never happened to me before.
Thanks again for your input - all thoughts appreciated

  • ITunes won't recognize my password to restore my iPhone backup file after upgrading to ios5

iTunes won't recognize my password to restore my iPhone backup file after upgrading to ios5.
Tried every password I've ever used and tried resetting my password.  Nothing works!
    Any advice?

Nope.  You obviously didn't read (or didn't remember) the User Guide.  I will include a link for you.  If you use the iPhone as Apple recommends (so that you do NOT experience data loss), frequent backups are advised, as are synching contacts/calendars with an appropriate cloud service or computer-based contact manager like Outlook.

  • Converting .PES files for DVD burn.

I have been extracting .PES files from my personal video recorder.
I want to burn these files to DVD on my Mac (10.4) but I can't figure out how to do this. Quicktime won't let me view these files but I can view them files using VLC player but exporting to a format that my copy of Toast 8 recognizes is proving very tricky. Can anyone suggest a way or any software that will let me convert .pes files to something toast or quicktime will read?
    Many thanks,
    Julian

I received the email notification of your original post which read (and I taking the liberty of quoting it as it is interesting) and which I assume you edited:
Embroidery no, but I do sometimes think that it may be a more worthwhile skill to learn instead of messing about with my mac. .PES stands for Packetized elementary stream and you can read all about them here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PacketizedElementaryStream
I have no idea on how to convert those files, but you could try (depending on the file sizes) dragging the files straight to Toast to see if it will burn it to a DVD.

  • Can I recover lost library from Windows backup file after hard drive crash?

I'm sure this has been visited before, so I'm sorry if this is redundent.
My daughters Windows notebook had to be reformatted because of a severe virus. I had all important files including iTunes songs backed up onto portable Hard Drive. Got her notebook up and running and then restored her songs back to her computer (but not into the original location). Plugged in her iPod Mini and now it shows no files at all on the Mini and iTunes will not access or recognize the songs that I restored
Prior to the restoring she was able to listen to her complete music collection on the iPod Mini.
I still have access to the backup files either on the Hard Drive or in a separate folder from which I restored the first time. Should I completely erase the songs from the notebook now and then access the backup file?
And how do I get the Mini and iTunes to recognize the music once and for all?
Thanks for any advice, help, and suggestions.

HP Pavilian Notebook   Windows XP   iPod Mini.

What you will do depends on if you have the "iTUnes Music Library.xml" file on backup. By default this file is stored on
    C (Or the drive windows is on)/documents and settings/............/My Documents/My Music/iTunes
If you DO have this file on backup, then you will have to set all the music to its EXACT location it was before reformatting

  • How to use backup files after I reset my ipod?

I reset my ipod touch and it asks me for my boyfriend's itunes password or when I want to use my old backup files it says that my itunes password is wrong. Just was wondering if there was anything I could do to fix it? It also said when I was trying to make an account on here as well that my password is wrong, so if someone could help that would be great. Thanks Mak1121

Have you tried signing out of the existing iTunes account on the iPod and signing into yours? Also the same for the computer's account.

  • Can't Access Time Machine Backup Files After Reinstall

I just completed a clean reinstall of Mountain Lion. Obviously I've missed some important step(s). When I enter Time Machine, I can see that there are older back ups by the dates on the right hand side of the screen, but they are greyed out. I'm confident the files are there, the issue is being able to access the files.
I've seen some notes about "reassociating Time Machine" with my "new" computer with some terminal commands, but I get lost with the instructions I've read and it sounds like if I do it wrong there is a pretty good chance I could really cause some damage. For the time being, I've turned off TM, but the dirve is still mounted and available.
For some reason, I was able to access and resotre my Documents folder - I just can't get into all the folders/files. Prior to the reinstall, I did visually confirm that I could see and access all my backup files.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Wrong File Plays After DVD Burn

So my iDVD file works perfectly, and after days of building, is finally ready to burn. After doing so, one of the files, which works perfectly in iDVD, burns out the wrong movie. I've burned a few discs, and it keeps burning the wrong track. There are about 10 different movies on the DVD, all of which are fine except for the one. I've tried deleting the file, re-importing it, then burning again... and it burns the same wrong file again. The movie that actually burns is also another movie in the same sub-menu, so I get two of the same movie. In preview mode, its the right movie. In all menu windows its the right movie. Just on the burned DVD is it wrong.
    Help!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Always save the iDVD project as a disk image before burning. That way you can check out the encoding process to make sure it went as intended before committing to disk.
You might try opening the iDVD project and use the Advanced->Delete Encoded Assets menu option and then do a File->Save as Disk Image. See if that will clear up the issue.

  • Incorrect chapter playback after DVD burn

Hi, I'd appreciate some help with solving this issue. Thanks.
I created a movie using iMovie 6.0.3 on my older PowerBook G4. I burned 2 DVDs using iDVD 7.0.4 and everything was perfect. A week later I wanted to burn more DVDs of the same movie using iDVD without changing anything! But when I play the movie after it was burned it starts playing from Chapter 5 (I have 10 chapters in the movie)!
    Why would it do that?
I didn't change any settings anywhere. I checked the project in iMovie and everything looked right. I also checked the DVD Map and I think all was right there too. The burned DVD will play from the beginning only if I click on Chapter 1.
    Thank you,

Thank you very much! Problem resolved.
I had my movie already saved up on iDisc as a QuickTime file (with all chapters already marked). I downloaded it to my MacBook Pro then imported it to iDVD and burned from there with no problems.
This time I wasn't getting the message "Update or Cancel" after returning to iDVD for some more burning later, where iMovie 6 on my older PowerBook G4 was giving me that message and even when pressing the "Cancel" button it would still not allow me to burn the DVD without the updates.
    Cheers,

  • Encore SD Project Changes size after DVD Burn?

Okay I've never had any issues with Encore CS5.5, but most of my experience is with HD video so I could be missing something simple...
I built a Premiere Pro project and Adobe Dynamic Link'ed it over to Encore, created the menus etc and everything is great. Check Project finds no issues, it Previews perfectly and looks like this:
(screenshot taken directly from the Encore 'Preview' window)
Once on the DVD, I place the DVD into a DVD player and it comes out like this:
(Picture of DVD loaded in DVD Player/TV, where for some reason it has cut down all sides)
I tested it with multiple TV's and DVD players, changes aspect ratios, doubles checked that both Premiere and Encore files are correct sizes....... Having not worked with SD videos in Encore before... is there something simple I'm missing? I have the client waiting for the DVD, but I'm completely at a loss.
    The footage is 720x480, 29.97fps

Alright, I tried double and triple checking the project settings and burned the DVD again, with the same results. Here are the project settings:
    I'm at a total loss.
I will now try what John recommended, though I don't see how that will change because the menu I used I COPIED directly from the stock encore menu library, edited in photoshop and saved back into the Encore library under a different name (as I've always done with ALL previous HD menu's with perfect results. The ONLY difference here being it's SD instead of HD) and the whole project comes out cropped on all four sides.... so I see no way that it could be an issue on the Premiere side of things.
I'll still try it though because I'm completely at a loss......

  • Does TM continue same backup file after restinalling osx?

I recently reinstalled snow leopard on my Macbook Pro 13 and migrated my user data thru migrating assistant. I reinstalled applications and when I select same time capsule for time machine, I noticed it backs up to the same TM file with my username.
The thing is after first backup, I entered TM, I could see all the dates prior the reinstallation, but most of the directories have this red "-" icon on them. I think it's some kind of permission thing.
So how do i get rid of the permission thing? Or is it better to start a fresh new file?

    I think you've seen the downside to using +Migration Assistant+ instead of +Setup Assistant.+
Most likely, the account in question on the previous installation was the first user set up there. The system automatically assigns it UID (User ID) #501. Apparently, all file/folder permissions are identified with that number, not the account name.
When you set up the testing account on the new installation, it was assigned #501. So when you migrated the old user, it had to be reassigned to #502. The permissions on all the files migrated along with it were changed to #502, also.
But #502 on the new installation isn't recognized as the same one as #501 on the backups, so doesn't have access to those files.
Your best bet is to start over and use +Setup Assistant+ instead. That doesn't involve a temporary user account, so the UIDs on the transferred accounts can remain the same. Start with the green box in #19 of [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
Note that anything you've installed since the migration will be erased, so you'll have to copy anything important elsewhere, then copy it back afterwards.

  • Reuse old backup file  after reset?

    Hi all,
I've done 2 initial backups fine and subsequent updates to those backups, however the ip of the time machine was completely different to the range I have been using so decided to change it. Did this and nothing worked, no internet etc. So i reset the time machine and the ip is now correct, however can I tell time machine to use the existing backups on the time capsule? It looks like it's trying to create 2 new backups which is crazy as it took ages over wireless!

You can recover to the last committed transaction,
provided you have the current controlfile, archived
logs since the backup and the current online logs.
Here's the procedure in a nutshell:
    a) Restore datafiles from tape.
    b) Recover database using restored files + current
controlfiles and archived/online logs. RMAN will prompt
you for the logs it needs for recovery.
You can also perform this type of recovery using a
backup controlfile. In this case you would still need
all logs as above. After recovery, you would have to
open the database with RESETLOGS because you are using
    a backup controlfile.
If you don't want/need to recover up to the last
committed transaction, you use a backup controlfile and
perform incomplete recovery (time or change based). This
simply means that you stop the application of redo at
the time or SCN of your choice.
Most of the scenarios of interest are documented in
    the following book:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96566/toc.htm
