No/Bad sound with Win7 RC (64bit); X-fi Extreme Music.

Hi!
I got a hold of the Windows 7 RC (x64) Build 700?and since then have tried many different drivers (both beta and stable and even daniel's support packs)?with no result. At first when i reboot my computer i get a pretty bad sound at startup when i play a mp3 song or open a video, the sound dissapears totally after 3-4 seconds?(and the video starts lagging without any sound). Got a HP nforce 430 motherboard with the X-fi Extreme?music card with 4gig ram. Anyone mind helping me that have got things to work out with the same setup?

  • Memory leak in Flash with Win7, IE9, 64bit

I have been having an issue for quite some time on 2 different computers. Both of them are Windows 7 64bit and use IE9.
Generally I have 1 - 5 tabs open in IE at any given time. Usually one of them is a tab for Yahoo Mail. Other tabs are related to whatever I may be searching for or doing at that time, so pretty varied. Throughout the day at random times I will begin to get a grey icon for anywhere on some tabs where there is supposed to be a flash video (like the ad in the right side of the Yahoo Mail tab)... When it happens I can open Task Manager in windows and I notice that 1 or two "iexplore.exe *32" processes have memory consumed in excess of 600,000K. When I end those processes I am again able to see any flash videos that need to be viewed.
If I leave Task Manager open throughout the day I can see the memory consumption increase on various tabs until I cannot see any more flash videos or even open new tabs in IE until I end those processes. Further, the memory does not get released if I just close the tabs in IE, but I must either end the specific process or close all tabs in IE so that IE is completely unloaded.
I have since uninstalled the Flash player and the issue has gone away. I can re-install the flash player and the issue returns. Can you please help? This has been a huge annoyance and I had hoped that it would be fixed sooner or later. Unfortunately it has not been fixed and has finally prompted me to post something....

First, I just wanted to follow up on this thread and let you guys know that we'll continue to look into it.  I also want to clarify some player behavior, and provide tips for helping to identify a defect that we can take action on.
Whenever you refresh/reload a tab, the browser should signal to us that our process is being destroyed, at which point we would release all of our resources and shut down.  SergeStone's comment above makes it sound like this might not be happening in a particular case.  I'm going to build out a few tests this week to explore this in more detail, and I'll follow up with results.
Also, it's worth discussing the difference between memory consumption and memory leaks.  Flash Player is designed to consume a percentage of your available memory.  If you have a 32-bit machine with 2GB of RAM, we're going to consume a lot less memory than a 64-bit system with 16GB of RAM.
Not all Flash content is authored well.  If the ActionScript developer is continuously loading objects into their SWF and never releasing them (a slide-show is a good simplistic example), you'll see a steady usage increase as each new object loads in.  You should also see that evenutally, our automatic Garbage Collection process will kick in.  Memory will peak out, and then you'll see a short CPU spike as we look at all of the available objects and cull as many unused ones as possible, consumed memory will dip down significantly (as long as we can cull stuff), and then start growing again until the next time GC kicks in.  We tend to do this judiciously, as poorly-timed GC can cause games to stutter if it happens when lots of things are moving around on the display and you don't have a lot of available CPU.
If it's our bug, it should be straightforward to fix, and I can follow up to this thread with a beta build for you guys to evaluate once we have one available.  In the meantime, it would be interesting to know if you're seeing the problem on our current Beta builds (which is where we would do the work).
Here's a link to the latest Beta download:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer11-5.html
Also, the simplest example is the most actionable.  If you can find a situation where a site in a single tab reproduces the problem, that's a quick and easy thing to deal with.  If the repro case involves opening seven tabs and waiting six hours, someone needs to repeat that over and over, until they can isolate what content experiences the problem and then iterate a bunch more with a debugger attached to try and isolate the root cause.  The more complicated the content, the more difficult that is.
Secondly, I wanted to offer some actionable suggestions that you could use now to work around this issue.
Try Firefox or Chrome.  Both of these browsers run Flash Player as a separate process.
For those of you using Performance Monitor and other tools to measure, you can directly observe the resources used by Flash Player
For the folks concerned about Bookmarks synchronization, both Firefox and Chrome provide native bookmark syncing and import from IE mechanisms.
Xmarks is a really nice, free utility that provides cross-browser, cross-platform bookmark synchronization.

  • Bad sound with my user

    Hi,
since a while Ihave sound issues with my normal user, the sound is bad, no trebles and so on.
If I use a fresh user, everything is O.K.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Ishan

Do you have any 3rd party software or components installed to specifically one user on your computer? You may want to check if there is any software interfering with your sound. You may just want to migrate your data from your main user account with the messed up sound to a new user account.

  • Best Practice: Working with Win7 32Bit & 64Bit Versions in MDT 2012

Whats the recommended way for producing bootable media using MDT2012 that would support 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows 7?
Should I have 2 deployment shares or do I import the 2 operating systems source dvd's into the same deployment share?
is it possible to create 32 & 64Bit bootable media from 1 deployment share and if so what settings would I need to modify in the task sequence & advanced configs to allow me to do so?

No problemt to run both x86 and x64 in the same deploymentshare.
Yes you can create both 32 and 64 bits boot media (winpe) in one deployment share.
In the properties of you deploymentshare, general tab you choose if you want to support both x86 & x64.

  • IS CS3 Production Premium incompatible with Win7 Home Premium 64bit?

I installed CS3 on my new machine with Windows7 Home Premium 64bit on it and it appeared to install correctly.
So when I click the photoshop.exe file it opens a window and freezes.... (not responding) I have sat for an extended amount of time and nothing ever happens beyond that.
If I use after effects or illustrator or flash... nothing happens at all... no windows... however If I open up my task manager, I can see the processes running for those programs... just no applications...
I have run as admin and in WinXP SP2 mode.
    Disabled DEP and UAC.
    Updated everything in the book.
    I dont' get it...
So I am starting to wonder if it just isn't compatible with Win7.
Can anyone shed any light on the subject or direct me to anything that could help out?

    Hudechrome,
Can you clarify on CS4 running in Windows 7? My employeer is upgrading to 64-Bit Windows 7 Ultimate (new laptop w/8 GB ram). I can re-install with XP if I really want to.
For Win7 Ultimate, do I just run the 32-bit PS CS4 app for best results or is there something special I need to do?
    Thanks!
Please read what I said, excerpted here:
"...and they work fine in all 64 bit OS including Win7...as 32 bit programs."
Now Dec9 has some further notes above which should work fine. Personally, I will change everything when CS5 arrives. Hardware, OS and programs. Since I am still running CS3 (which should also run on Win7 at 32 bits) I am in no hurry to upset a rather well oiled editing system. Yesterday, I did upgrades to my hardware, adding an additional 1TB drive. I needed extra sata connections so I added a PCI sata card, blew out the dust bunnies, installed the HD and the damn thing wouldn't even post!
    It runs now.
    Wouldn't dare not !!

  • Help with Premiere Elements 3.0,  won't work with Win7 Home Prem 64bit

Does anybody knows if there's a patch or update for Premiere Elements 3.0 for Win7 Home Premium 64bit?  This software is a little bit old, but works great with my WinXP pro.  When I upgraded to Win7 Home, 64bit, Premiere Elements 3.0 would not work at all.  At first, I thought it was my hardware, but the software just crashed even without any video capture devices connected to my computer.  Any help is appreciated.
      Thanks!

Well, there's no guarantee version 3 will work on Windows 7 at all -- let alone the 64-bit version.
Have you installed the 3.02 patch for the software? That makes it Vista compatible -- and if anything will make it work, that will.
Otherwise -- and assuming you've got the latest firmware for your video card and the latest version of Quicktime -- if it doesn't work for you, it simply may not. Sorry.

  • ITunes 10.4 full screen with Win7-64bit doesn't work correctly.

iTunes 10.4 full screen with Win7-64 doesn't work correctly. I have the Windows taskbar on the left side of my screen. Maximized iTunes is panned to the left.

Same issue here. When the Windows taskbar is position on the top of the screen and then the iTunes windows is maximised, it's position is as if the Windows taskbar is at the bottom of the screen so the top of the iTunes window sits under the taskbar.
For those wanting a workaround, hold shift and right click the iTunes icon in the taskbar/quick launch bar and click restore, at least then you can adjust it to be full screen manually.

I updated Flash yesterday to the newest version. My computer speakers work fine. I get no sound with flash video.  So far I have tried most things listed. Still no sound. My flash video sound worked fine four days ago before the update. I was not able to reinstall an older version of Flash. My computer with XP has Flash sound.  Is this going to get fixed?

Easiest is to do a System Restore to a date before the update.

  • Bad sound, X-treme Music with 64-bit Windows 7

I just upgraded my machine from XP to 7.
Initially I "did it wrong", and installed the 32-bit version of 7 on my machine. The sound was working perfectly then.
Then I realized my mistake (since my RAM wasn't all showing up) and I reformatted to 64-bit Windows 7 instead.
    And now my troubles begin.
The only driver available for my card states that it is for both versions of 7.
But now the sound is choppy; it skips, jumps around and is generally unpleasant. When I first installed the driver--before the restart--the sound worked PERFECTLY. Then I restarted and now I'm back to horrible choppy sound, with occassional patches of good behavior.
I know it has to be driver related since it worked FINE on 32-bit XP and Windows 7.
What am I missing here? Is there some setting or something?

  • Distorted / choppy recorded sound with Audigy 2 ZS and Vista 64-bit

Hi, I wonder if anybody has any idea of why this issue is happening. First let me give you my PC specs:
    CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 940 @ 3.0 GHz
    Mobo: Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4 rev. 2.0
    Graphics: 2 x BFG GeForce 8800 GT 52MB
    RAM: 4 x GB G.Skill PC6400 @ 800 MHz
Sound: Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS
TV Tuner:? Hauppauge WinTV PVC PCI II (26xxx)
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP
?So here's the deal. I have no problems whatsoever with audio playback with this sound card. The issue I am having is while recording sound with it. When I record my voice via a Microphone with the Windows Sound Recorder and then play it back, my voice sounds very choppy. It sounds as if I was talking in front of a fan. The same happens with any program I try to use. If I use Audacity to record sound, the playback is also distorted / choppy. The main problem is with Skype, as I cannot use it to talk to people because they cannot understand what I'm saying because of the issue. Does anybody has any ideas why this happens? My PC is a dual boot PC with Vista 64-bit and XP 32-bit, and this issue only happens with Vista. Sound recorded plays back fine under Windows XP.
I am using the latest drivers available for this card from the Creative site.
    I'd appreciate your help,
    Daniel

A little bit off topic here, but 64bit does not mean more performance at all lol.
Sure, but there are in some cases drastic performence diferences. Under a fresh installed Vista X64 i have less CPU usage, as under 32 bit. But of course X64 uses more RAM (some tasks are double 32 and 64 bit). But the main reason I have more performence is, that the games I often play, get almost a boost. Dont ask me why, but under 64 bit EAW and FOC have the same FPS as under 32 bit. But under X64 I use a bit more Details and a higher resolution. (both are 32 bit games, so its a bit funy )?______________________?Sure there are other ways to install the drivers. But if some Setup dosent work, the first thing I try is to get it via Divice Management. And as this worked for me, I dont waste time to try other methods (Had bad experience, you can break the driver faster than install it *G*)?______________________?Some Questions I have left (after a few hours undr X64 with Creative Drivers):?Could it be, that the driver causes sometimes havy CPU usage?Could it also be, that the driver causes some lags, after you copy a file (the end sound, copy is finihed, but takes more time for "final finish", than without the drivers) - I know that Vista has some problems, on some PCs with copy, and that MS has an inoficial Patch (but dosent help for my PC so far)

I'm no longer able to use the projector VPL-ES4 with win7, he accuses error frequency.
Working at a university here in Brazil Unicamp.
Here we have several projectors model VPL-ES4, we were using this projector with win7 however a few days they all stopped to show the image of computers accusing problem in frequency, we made all the alternatives so that One can be reestablished TRANSMISSION signal however all were in vain, reading in many forums found equal to our cases and the solution presented was to use a computer with win98 and it really worked, but with the end of support for this version of the system we are failing to use it, I wonder how we can solve this problem and why even this ocrrendo.

Yes. NVIDIA+CRT+VGA cable = bad EDID.
Here's what you can do. Fully remove the xorg.conf file. Regenerate them using nvidia-xconfig, Open the nvidia's GUI as root and just click "Save configuration", or something among those lines. Google your monitor's manual and find the RIGHT vertical and horizontal sync frequency ranges. After setting them in your xorg.conf log-out and log-in again. Go to the nvidia settings gui, you should be able to use a higher resolution.
I've tried this a few times, but always end up with a "Signal out of range".  I think the trick is finding the correct ranges.  My monitor is a Soyo Topaz S 24", and I can't find any official manual or specs online.  What I have found is this:
    http://www.thinkcomputers.org/old/index … ews&id=733
    That review indicates:
    Frequency: Fh: 30 kHz - 80 kHz; Fv: 50 Hz - 75 Hz
    So I set:
    HorizSync 30-80
    VertRefresh 50-75
Signal out of range, which is annoying because in order to fix it I either have to reboot using a live CD, mount the drive, or ssh into it.  Whoever started the trend of disabling ctl alt backspace to kill an xsession is not my friend...
Some other forum posts about this monitor indicate that there may have been two variants, but I can't find a different set of specs.

  • Does the Shared Review Feature Work Using Acrobat X Pro with Win7/Office 7?

I see there is a new version of Acrobat. We recently upgraded to AA9 but found it didn't support Windows 7/Office 2010. Shared review didn't work.
I checked out the specs and FAQs for AAX but am not clear if it does or does not support Shared Review running on Win7 using Office 2010. It says you can create PDFs using Office 2010 but is vague about the Shared Review feature.
We won't invest in yet another upgrade if AAX doesn't support Shared Review. Can someone let me know if it does or does not support the feature?

I downloaded the trial version of Acrobat X Pro to test the features that should now be supported with Win7-64bit, particularly the Shared Review. X still does not suppor this unless there some configuration I am totally missing.
I tested sending out a doc as an email attachment for shared review and Acrobat X still does not recognize MS-Outlook as my default mail client, thus the feature doesn't work. This is the exact same thing that happened in Acrobat 9 - I get to the step where I add email addresses for the review and - boom - Acrobat tells me there is no default email client. I double and triple checked and MS-Outlook is definitely the default mail program on my machine. So Acrobat is still not recognizing it.
So, does this feature NOT in fact work yet with Windows 7 64-bit or is there a special step I am missing?
I tried and checked the following:
    - Uninstalled Acrobat 9 and then installed the FULL trial version of Acrobat X Pro, rebooted and so on.
    - Checked that MS-Outlook is my default mail client.
    - Tried entering the email address manually into the To: field for the Shared Review and that didn't work.

  • Bad sound in my x-fi audio after windows upd

I have accidentally downloaded this @ windows update on tuesday?
Creative - Sound - Creative X-Fi Audio Processor (WDM)Creative Sound sofware update released in June, 2007?
After that all my sound options were gone and i have a terrible bad sound.
Is there anyone who can help me to solve is this problem?
    I am running win xp

If you need to remove entries from the registry it's not as bad as some people make it to be. You do have to be very careful because it can disable your system. First go to the Device Manager and uninstall your sound card. Go to Start Menu and click on RUN, enter "regedit" and hit OK. Click on the + tabs by My Computer then HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Make?a backup copy?by going to the FILE tab at the top and select the Export option. Name the file HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and save?it to your desktop. You can use this file to restore your registry to?it's original state?if needed.
Now click SYSTEM and then CurrentControlSet then click on and highlight Services. Go back to the top?and under the Edit tab select Find. Enter "Creative" in the box and then click on the Find Next tab. This will find any reference to the word Creative. Any time you find a reference delete the folder that the reference exists in. Go back up to the Edit tab after each time you delete a folder and click the Find Next tab and it will search for the next reference. Do this until you find all references in the Services folder. This should remove all the drivers for your Creative sound card but will also remove any drivers for ALL Creative products on your computer. If you only have the sound card this won't be a problem. Close the Registry Editor and restart you computer. You should be able to reinstall your card with the original CD or the driver of your choice. If you don't use the CD you'll have to tell Windows where to find the drivers. Restart your system a couple of times to make sure all your services load and it runs as it should. When your satisfied that all is Ok you can delete the file you saved to your desktop. ?Just be very careful what you delete and you will be OK. If this doesn't work you may have to format the hard dri've and start from scratch. Good luck.
