No Bass from new In-Ear Headphones

Is there a way to test the drivers in the headphones? I'm wondering if the woofer isn't functioning properly. The sound is very clear, but there is next to nothing on the low-end. The fit is extremely snug, but when I press them to my ear to double-check the bass increases, but not by much. When I do the same to my cheap $10 skullcandy headphones, I can clearly feel/hear the bass.

I hate to disappoint you with the same experience.
I tried everything. Different plugs, equalizer, on my old nano, on my macbook (and of course with my 2nd generation iPod touch). Everywhere the same experience. A very flat bass. It seems as if those headphones support more bass, since I played a favorite song of mine with a loooot of bass that seems to break out when you use the regular headphones. The in-ear headphones gave a nice bass — but very flat, not at all rich, load or anything. I will give those headphones back.
The only thing I am wondering about is if this might be a manufacturing problem. Maybe a lot of those delivered headphones have a problem with the bass while maybe 90% function correctly?! But this might be verified by others. Is there anybody out there who doesn't have this problem? Anybody who can actually judge sound quality???
Because—at the matter of fact, this is the only problem these headphones have. Wonderfully designed and fitting well ... and I love the remote. But if the bass isn't good, they are still worthless.
ANYBODY???

  • New in-ear headphone NOT COMPATIBLE with RADIO remote!!!

I bought some days ago on the apple store the new in-ear headphone but it seems that are not compatible with radio remote control.
Infact if I connect them, the volume is very very very low. The volume is correct only if I take out just a bit the jack from the radio remote or if the central button of the "in-ear headphone" is hold down pressed.
Do you know something about this problem? Because these headphones are NOT very cheap and nothing is indicated on the apple store.
    Thanks!!!

According to the description, it is supposed to work as normal earbuds when connected to older iPod models. So it seems like it should work that way with a Radio Remote. You said it works properly if it is not pushed in all the way? Maybe the one you have has a minor defect. If you bought it online, you may want to call the customer service number at shown at the upper left corner of the online Apple Store web page and see what they can do about it.

  • Are Apples new in ear headphones compatible  with iPhones????

Hi, I was just wondering if Apples new In-Ear Headphones are compatible with the iPhone (1stGen)
    Thanks

    Take a look at this,
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3310
This should tell you what you want to know straight from Apple themselves.
From what I've read and understand there are 4 conductors on the jack plug as opposed to three on the normal iPhone headsets. It seems that the extra conductor is probably the one that controls the volume buttons + & -
So the volume fix may not ever be able to happen as it would seem it is hardware related. If it can be fixed with software upgrade that would be great but iphone users might have to live without the volume control if they want a set.

  • New Apple In-Ear Headphones

Okay, I had a few questions to ask before I go out and by these so I don't waste my money.
    1. Are the new In-Ear headphones compatible with the Original iPhone?
    2. Are they sold at Best Buy?
If anyone could help me that would be great

    Hello Covenant,
First, the Apple In-Ear Headphones will work with the iPhone except for the volume control function. This thread and link provide some information on them:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1792212
    http://www.apple.com/ipod/inearheadphones/
Whether Best Buy carries them or not, I can't answer. They are not listed on their online store, but you can always contact your local brick-and-mortar Best Buy and see if they have them in stock.

  • Quality of in-ear headphones

    Hello,
I just got a pair of Sennheiser MM 50 headphones for my iphone and I'm a bit confused about its sound quality. These are my first pair of in-ear headphones so maybe I'm just not used to them, but when I compare them to the regular apple headphones they sound as if the treble is cranked up and the bass is barely detectable. The apple headset sounds much more deeper and full. Messing with the EQ doesn't seem to help either.
Is it just me? Am I just not used to the sound or is something wrong here?
    Thanks for your input!

Have you followed the instructions for placing them into your ears. The in-ear headphones generally have much better bass than standard ear buds but you have to use the correct size cap to get the best seal in your ears.
I find it easier to pull your ear back a little when you push them into your ear. This helps you to get them in before your ear canal closes round them to seal in the sound.
I'm currently using the new in-ear headphones with mic from Apple. These are intended for the new iPod Touch but work great with the iPhone with the exception of volume controls, and they sound great!

  • Turn Off Mic on Apple In-Ear Headphones

I finally received the New In-Ear headphones with Microphone for my touch.
After waiting so long for Amazon to ship them, I was worried about the sound quality from all the negative reviews.
The sound is great, BUT there is no way to turn off the microphone, so I can actually hear my breathing! If the cord is rustled at all, the microphone amplifies the noise to the headphones.
So if I keep PERFECTLY STILL, I have no complaints about sound quality, not even the bass.
It seems none of the reviewers have realized the microphone is amplifying every little sound and movement.
Is there any way to turn the microphone off when it's not needed?
    Please?

Oh I don't think it's the Mic. If ya talk into it (the mic) it does not amplify your voice does it? No, I don't think it will. If ya just plug your ears shut with your fingers you will get the same sound situation as the earplugs are creating.
There has been a lot of discussion about the "noise" on the new headphones. It comes from the cord itself. And it's doing just what those old "cup with string walkie talkies" did when we (I) were kids. Every movement is being sent/vibrated up the cord to your well closed ears and it's just loud because your ears are shut. I ate some hard pretzels the other night with my earphones in and almost blew my eardrums out from the crushing sound. But it WAS NOT coming from the mic. This of course is my opinion and two cents worth.

  • In-ear headphones buzzing

I got some new in-ear headphones a little bit ago. The right ear has this buzzing/crackling sound. Is there any way to fix it or get a replacement pair?

If you're within the return policy, you can take them back for an exchange. Otherwise, they are covered by a 1-year warranty in which you can get them replaced at a Genius Bar or your nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider.

  • New In-Ear with Radio Remote Controll compatible?

    Hi.
Does some one knows if this works?
Ipod Video -> Radio Remote Controll -> New In-Ear Headphones.
    Thanks!

They will give you audio. But the remote and mic will not work.
The new in - ear headphones only will give you remote and mic capabilities with a 4th gen nano (tall screen), ipod classic (120 gb) or 2nd gen ipod touch (volume rocker)

  • In-ear headphones playing audio from one side only

My apple in-ear headphones only play audio from one side.  I've tried replacing the cap and mesh; and also tested the headphones on different devices and still get the same problem.  Any advice?

Probably time to have them replaced.

  • Does Apple make/sell the new "Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic" with a one sided configuration? So that a person that is deaf in one can hear both sides of a stereo recording? Also, since the "other" bud is not necessary/useful...it's removed.

As far as I know, Apple sells no such configuration.  However, under Settings > General > Accessability, there is an option to play back audio in monoural mode, which would then play both halves of a stereo mix in each earbud.
    Hope that helps.
