"No battery power remains. Please connect iPod to power."

I plugged my iPod into my laptop last night to sync/charge it like I always do, with no problem... today I unplugged it and turned it on, and after about 30 seconds it shut down, saying that my battery was dead. I brought it back and plugged it in... if I plug it in via USB cable, it just says that my battery power is extremely low and to please wait, and every few minutes it will light up and show the black screen with the silver apple, then just go back to "please wait". If I plug it in with a wall charger, it works, but it says it's fully charged, and as soon as I unplug it, it displays "No battery power remains. Please connect iPod to power." It still registers on my computer (as long as I start it with the wall charger, then switch the cables quick...), and I restored it, but it's still saying it's fully charged, and I know it's not. I've also tried resetting it a few times.
Help???

I just had a similar problem with mine... It's like it gets into a loop where it's trying to boot up before there's enough charge. I've managed to break the cycle and get a charging logo on the screen - although I don't yet know whether this has fixed the problem.
I suggest you let it run completely dry and then plug it directly into your computer. Don't press any buttons and it possibly might make a difference whether Itunes is running (I think it was off for me). Hoepfully, if you leave it for half an hour or so, it will get the battery charge to a reasonable level where you can continue normally.
I kinda stumbled on this as I was playing around, so not sure whether the steps above are what improved the situation.
Hope there's some helpful info in there.

  • Satellite A500 - Battery light flashes when connected to mains power

    Win 7 Satellite A500 PSAM3A-03P00E.
The battery light flashes when connected to mains power (intermittent fault), when I unplug mains and re-connect flashing stops and battery (high capacity) continues to charge.
Also when battery light flashes the key board back lighting stays on when it should blank out and if the back lighting is off and the battery light starts flashing the key board back lighting doesn't turn on, all other functions seem to work fine.
The battery charges and holds charge as it should (when light flashes battery doesn't charge).

    Hi
Did you notice this issue from first day of purchase?
Theoretically it could be possible that your battery starts to malfunction
At the other hand an electronic issue might be possible too
    However, try this:
Remove ac adaptor and battery. Then press and hold power buttons 30 sec long.
Then insert the battery and connect AC adaptor again does it helps?
By the way: is BIOS up to date? If not, perform an update.

Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.

  • IPhone will only power on while connected to the power cable and will not power on if I try to connect to iTunes/PC. I tried resetting and switching power off. What should I do?

    Can someone help?

If resetting and restoring didn't fix it, you need to bring it to an Apple store to be evaluated. Sounds like the battery may have died.

  • No battery power remains...

Hi. My nano's battery died and the screen has said "no battery power remains. please connect ipod to power." for hours now. when I plug it into my computer, neither my itunes or my ipod recognize that it's plugged in and it's not recharging. Is my battery actually dead, dead?

+Important: iPod will stop charging if the computer, or portable computer, it's connected to enters standby, hibernation, or sleep mode. To charge your iPod, connect it directly to a computer's USB port and make sure standby, hibernation, or sleep mode is turned off.+
+Note: If using a portable computer, make sure it is plugged in to a power source and that the lid or display is open. If the lid is closed the computer may go into either standby, sleep, or hibernation mode and iPod will not charge properly.+

  • Can't recharge nano - it says no battery power remains ...

The battery has obviously gone flat. I have connected it to my computer using the same USB port as I set it up with and using the cable that came with the iPod. Nothing is happening. I can't turn it off either.
The message on the screen says "No battery power remains. Please connect iPod to power." What can I do?
This is the first time (other than the initial charging) that I have tried to recharge it.
    Thanks

Maybe I'm not as useless as I thought.
I managed to turn it off by holding down the menu and centre button for about 5 seconds or so. Once it was off it started recharging.

  • ITunes detects iPhone over WiFi only when it's NOT connected to a power outlet

    Hi there argelle1!
I believe you will want to restore this iPod in order to resolve this issue, but there are some other troubleshooting steps you can try before that as well. Those steps can be found in this website:
iPod nano (6th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3474
Specifically, this is the section that refers to your issue:
Will not turn on or screen remains dark
Connect iPod to power for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has enough charge to allow iPod to turn on.
If iPod does not turn on after ten minutes, try resetting the device while it is still connected to power. Reset the iPod by holding down the Sleep/Wake button and the Volume Down button for at least eight seconds or until you see the Apple logo appear.
If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
If the screen remains dark and will not turn on, then your iPod may need service.
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!
    Regards,
    Braden

  • Ipod mini- 3/4 battery shutting down with "no battery power remaining"

After fully charging my ipod mini, while it still has 3/4 battery on the battery meter in the corner will shut itself down due to "no battery power remaining" if i push the NEXT button too many times in a row. This is a consistant problem and always happens when i have a half battery power or more. I do keep it in Shuffle mode, and i am fully aware that will drain the battery quicker, however there should be no reason a freshly charged ipod with 3/4 battery should not be able to shuffle a few songs without shutting down. Has anyone else ever had this problem or knows of any solution for fixing it? Any help would be appreciated!!

my ipod is doing the same thing...except when I turn it on it will say i have 3/4 battery for only about 10 seconds, then it turns off. All the other forums I have read say to get the battery replaced, but Apple can and usually does send a faulty battery so it might be time for a new ipod.

  • HT201412 My iPod 2G doesn't turn on. It is out of battery, but when I connect it to my charger it just continues to show the apple logo. It did that for 3hours straight. Please HELP!

My iPod 2G doesn't turn on. It is out of battery, but when I connect it to my charger it just continues to show the apple logo. It did that for 3hours straight. Please HELP!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Nano (4th Generation) switches on when connected to USB power - shows Menu & hangs (unresponsive to click wheel) - deems off after 5-sec - Switches off after disconnecting from USB Power - syncs with iTunes - Tried 5R's - Problem still persists

    1. The iPod Nano (4th Generation - 8GB) switches on, only when connected to USB power by showing apple logo and displays Menu options thereafter..
    2. However, I can not access Menu as it is unresponsive to click wheel. As a result it is inaccessible to any further use,
    3. NOTE: it displays "Battery Fully charged" icon on the screen without any "Lock" icon.
    4. After  5-sec to 10-secs the screen deems off.. i.e. goes to sleep mode.. And thereafter would probably remain like that (sleeeping) for eternity!!!!
    5. It Switches off after WITHOUT DISPLAYING any Apple Logo immediately after disconnecting from USB Power.
    6. In other words, it can be switched on only through USB power in spite of battery being fully charged.
    7. Interestingly, it syncs with iTunes. It is recognised in iTunes (Latest version 11+).. Displays on screen all commands Like.. syncronising, connecting, connected,
    8. Allows to add Music, videos like a normal ipod & displays all status information in iTunes.
    9. Read Trobleshooting & Tried all 5R's. Registered, Resetted, updated & Restored to iOS 1.0.2
    10. It is now displaying to select Language in place of Menu options, with no access through click wheel, centre button whatsoever... Problem still persists
KINDLY GUIDE ME THE SOLUTION. APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE in advance...

"I get the feeling that this is a software issue that could probably be solved quite easily"
Since you have already tried all the normal troubleshooting solutions, take the iPod to your nearest Apple Store for a *proper diagnosis.* The staff there will be able to confirm if your problem is software or hardware _*at no cost to you.*_
