No battery, sad face, can't charge or reset

I used my ipod until it ran out of battery. Then I started getting the sad face icon (frozen). Now I can't reset it because it has no battery and cant charge it because its frozen. I hooked it up to my comp for a few hours but it wont charge. (it displays a little battery then tries to reset itself but keeps going to the sad face icon) The computer does not recognize it because it has no battery. (neither windows nor itunes) Im stuck in a circle!!

Now my Ipod is really frustrating me. I had basically come to terms with the fact that I was simply going have to buy a new Ipod due the problems I discussed earlier in my post.
However, last week while getting ready for work I just decided to turn on the dead ipod, and to my surprise, it worked! Right to the main menu. But to my disgust, the moment I connected it to my laptop to attempt to perform a restore, the dreaded "do not disconnect" message came up and would not stop. I then tried to switch it to disk mode and perform a manual restore, and the instant it converted to disk mode, the "DND" message popped up again and it never connected.
Another week went by and everytime I walked by the ipod I would attempt to turn it on with no luck (the folder icon would show up). But this morning, the ipod decided it wanted to work, and the same problems persisted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The other day my iPod brought up the oh so familiar "sad face". I tried reseting it (the same way I fixed it the last time my ipod brought up the sad face) and got nothing but the start up screen...a prolonged wait, and the "sad face" once again.
I though maybe I could plug into my Powerbook and restore it to factory setting, but once again, the iPod decided to refuse. It is now displaying the lowest level on the charging sign and showing the sad face whenever I try to reset it. Also to be noted, it will not recharge at all when I connect it to the power adapter. The computer won't recognize the ipod so I'm at a bit of a loss. Any ideas? Do I simply have to take it into the Apple Store to get it looked at? Suggestions would be appreciated.

For Window computer
Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod

I have not tried this solution myself, I heard that there were few successful cases that the users managed to get their iPod (you must put your iPod in disk mode before connecting with a computer) mounted by the computer, which was booted by a system startup disk. Try to find a way to reformat your iPod, again it does not matter which format (FAT32, NTFS or HFS+) you choose, the key is to erase the corrupted system files on the iPod. Reboot your computer at the normal way, connect your iPod back with it, open the iPod updater, and hopefully your iPod will appear there for the Restore.

Have I tried these myself? No, I am afraid to do it myself as I am squeamish about tinkering inside electronic devices, I have few experiences that either I broke the parts (which are normally tiny or fragile) or failed to put the parts back to the main case. Lumia 620 stuck on sad face after attempting to in...

my phone showed a nokia update ready to be installed. i pressed install button , phone restarted, showed spinning gears for some time and then a sad face appeared. restarted again by pressing soft reset keys vol down + power, nokia logo appeared , followed by spinning wheels and sad face.
tries to do hard reset, but same result. took the battery out, and then put it back but sad face appeared again.
unable to get back to factory settings. phone is in warranty period, purchased in march 2013.
what shud be my next step? please advise.

If the phone is connected to charger, disconnect and wiat till the battery dies. Then reconnect the charger and wait upto 2 hrs. See if the phone switches ON on its own ..

Ipod sad face i need a genius

Ive tried basically everything and my ipod wont reset or go into disk mode. it is sitting on my power adapter making beeping noises and flashing between the apple logo and an ipod sad face-can someone tell me how to get it into disk mode or make it work?

hi there! it just happened to me. keep on trying to reset the ipod until it mounts on the desktop and the finder. What i did was open the disk utility, erase the drive, repair permission, and verify. after that your ipod becomes a hard drive. the ipod software will be gone. just load the latest ipod software updater and all is well. hope this helps. good luck.

IPod 4g can't charge

All the sudden my iPod wouldn't charge and now it's out of battery and when I try to charge it, it attempts to turn on but once it shows the apple logo on startup and then shuts off and turns back on to just the logo. Macbook Battery pinout/ how can it be powered from it's battery connector

Hi everyone,
I've accidentally spilled water on my macbook and damaged it's power supply section. Apple says the logic board has to be replaced costing more than a new computer. The computer however works perfectly fine using a battery, although it can't charge one. So' I've been trying to power it from the battery connector, measuring the actual voltage a fully charged battery provides and applying it to the corresponding pins on the connector.
Unfortunately nothing happens. I know the battery has an internal micro-controller which communicates with the computer exchanging information about battery status/temp, etc. but I never thought that this communication is essential to power the computer from the battery. So, the next step I tried was dismantling a battery pack, disconnecting the battery cells from the tiny circuit board inside the pack and trying to apply an external voltage there, hoping that the laptop will power up. Still nothing. I' m a bit frustrated here. I really believed this last option would work. Has anybody tried to do something similar with a macbook or even perhaps knows the battery pinout on the connector? ( I have searched the entire net for this with no result).
Any help would be much appreciated as the computer is useless this way..

I mean, it's expensive, but cheaper than a new macbook, and way cheaper than Apple's official replacement price. Since you are skilled enough to take the battery apart, I'm sure you can replace the logic board yourself.
As for the battery, I agree that the macbook must be able to communicate with its battery to boot from it. Are you making sure that all pins are being used?

Sad Face/Battery Low...can this be saved?

I've read the forums and some of the support articles. I know about restoring and resetting. But, I'm still a bit confused. I haven't had my iPod (I have a color photo iPod...I think they're the fourth gen iPods) on since Friday afternoon. I turned it on while I was on the bus this morning and got the sad face. Then I reset it a few times and I got the symbol that it usually gives when there is a low battery, and I haven't seen the sad face at all since then. I don't know if that's a good sign, however. I don't have my charger with me. Is it possible when I plug it in at home, it will just start charging back up and all of my music won't be gone? I don't mind restoring if I have to, I was smart enough to back up all of my music. But I just wanted to know if charging the battery would do the trick.

it should certainly get rid of the low battery icon, but as to the sad iPod icon, it's hard to say.
This icon usually means a hard drive problem. I would plug it into the charger when you get home, reset it and see what happens when the battery is fully charged.

my iPod U2 4th gen started acting up on me. it needed to be reset more and more often, until it decided to just stop working all together. it would show me the apple sign, sad face, and low battery symbols. bought and installed new battery, won't charge. it changes from apple icon to sad face back and forth on it's on when plugged into wall with firewire. goes from apple icon to sad face when connected to pc via USB. pc won't recognize it. please help! i've tried everything! is there something wrong with my hard drive? i'll pay anything to save the files on my hard drive. I went to the apple store and they told me I had to wait 3 days to make an appointment with a "Mac Genius" to look at it and that with all the repairs done it would probably cost me $150. I kid you not. So basically I put the wall charger on, let it charge for 3 hours. Took it off the wall plug and then slapped the $#!t out of it 4 or five times. Then turned it on. Same sad face. Tried a combination of the reboot procedure and slapping around and now it works! Good luck and hope it works for you too!

Sad Face on my Ipod. is it battery related?

I have an ipod 20Gb 4th gen/. Earlier today, it seems to have been a battery problem, i kept charging but the battery comes with one bar red, then a folder with exclamation pt. I was able to go to disk mode.
Now all of a sudden , i get a Sad face and nothing responds, Menu+select or Select+Play doesn't seems to respond.
I am thinking of buying a new battery and install it. can it be it?

1. . Disconnecting the Hard Drive and battery inside the iPod – Warning !! Your iPod warranty will be waived once you open the iPod.
In Hong Kong there are some electronic shops offering an iPod service for Sad iPod, the first thing they do is to open up the iPod’s case and disconnecting the battery and the Hard Drive from the main board of the iPod. Wait for 5-10 minutes and reconnecting them back. The reason behind which I can think of is to do a fully reset of a processor of the iPod. In case you want do it itself and you believe that you are good on fixing the electronics devices and have experience to deal with small bits of electronic parts, then you can read the following of how to open the iPod case for battery and HDD replacement (with Quicktimes)

Have I tried these myself? No, I am afraid to do it myself as I am squeamish about tinkering inside electronic devices, I have few experiences that either I broke the parts (which are normally tiny or fragile) or failed to put the parts back to the main case. Therefore, I agree with suggestion to have it fixed by a Pro.

HT1363 My ipod touch 32GB keeps clicking and won't turn on or charge even though power is getting to it. The screen shows a sad face ipod.

We have an ipod classic with wheel. It keeps saying low battery even though I have had it charging for ages. It also makes this clicking sound but refuses to do anything else. I can't get any screen to show except a sad face ipod and the "low battery" screen. I have tried to do the restart option but it makes no difference. Help!

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. If defective, within warranty and not abused Apple will exchange it at no cost

Got new 4GB mini ipod, wont charge!! shows ipod w/sad face! HELLLP!

I just bought a 4GB ipod mini. Whenever I charge it [i use the charger on the "iHome" dock] it first shows the apple logo, then after a few seconds it shows the little ipod with a sad face, and it says "apple.com/support/ipod" then after displaying that for a few seconds, a little picture of a battery and an exclamation point next to it flashes really fast, then it repeats the whole thing over again. I have never used it before that is why i am worried!! has this happened to anyone else?? I know that it isnt the iHome charger because my sister has used it on her mini ipod and it worked perfectly!

Hey.. well the same sad face thingy happenned 2 me b4 and the weird thing was it went away! after a day! but nyway my advice.. go to ipod + itunes on the top tab and look at troubleshooting to find out to fix the problem. One place is: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod101/help/3/
The second thing about the battery and an exlmaation point, it means its not charged* and if you can't plug it in2 the computer theres not much u can do. Well, i recon theres somethin wrong, but im tellin ya, go to the toubleshooting and try that and hopefully it will work. Happy Holidays

Sad face then funny battery signal please help!!!

Hi there, I bought my ipod mini about 3 weeks ago, turned it on a few days ago, first I get the Apple logo, followed by a sad ipod icon, then a battery signal which shows it has slightly charged with a bolt of lightening across it!! I have tried everything - resetting, updated all the software, bought a new USB cable, I can't restore through the updater as it won;t recognise the restore function please help!!!

Hey man...I have the EXACT same Ipod with the EXACT same problem. I went to the apple store and they told me I had to wait 3 days to make an appointment with a "Mac Genius" to look at it and that with all the repairs done it would probably cost me $150. I kid you not. So basically I put the wall charger on, let it charge for 3 hours. Took it off the wall plug and then slapped the $#!t out of it 4 or five times. Then turned it on. Same sad face. Tried a combination of the reboot procedure and slapping around and now it works! Good luck and hope it works for you too!

Doesn't seem to charge, not being read, and have the sad face

pretty much it. I have the 80G. It was freezing today so i tried restarting it but then it didn't respond to the buttons as if it was on hold but the music was still playing but the screen was frozen. So i hooked it up to a ipod boombox so it would kinda charge and reboot itself. Next thing i know, i'm getting the sad face and even though it's now been plugged into the computer for about 3 hours, there is no sufficient charge and when it does come on i still get the sad face.
